3+ 4+ 5+ 7+ support thread 2016

In previous years I have started these threads to help and support all those parents involved in the independent school admissions process.

I wasn't going to start one this year as I know I would not be able to check back on it as regularly as I would like, which then defeats the purpose of the thread.

However, after numerous positive PM's about the threads I think it would be a shame not to start one where at least the hand holding can continue. Flowers

There are many many people who have been through the process and 'live to tell the tale' . There are also other tutors I know who read this thread and it would be great if you all could help and support and share your ideas.

Can anyone help with what gets asked in the Habs girls 5+ second round interview? I know it it x2 15 min interviews- but any in sight into the questions asked would be very helpful?

writingonthewall · 21/01/2016 13:34

It's new in the last two years since the change of head so unlikely to be much reliable info around.

Snfrog2 · 21/01/2016 14:03

Ok. Thank you writingonthewall

t1n333 · 21/01/2016 14:16

Anyone heard back from Orley Farm?

Aditi83 · 21/01/2016 19:48

The results for orley farm were sent out by post today, should be with us by tom.

Lastmindotcom · 22/01/2016 22:46

Looking ahead. If given a choice of travelling 50mins to Colet Court by public transport or 20min coach to HABS - what would parents choose?

meonlyme · 23/01/2016 09:57

Snfrog2 we did the 4+ second round at habs and it was basically them asking us if we had any questions about the school. So just ask the right qs and sound interested in the school, and the other 15mins was what do we want from the school for our daughter. Daughter was not asked anything.

Lolakath19 · 23/01/2016 18:49

Hi all, anyone knows how many siblings for FH this year in reception? Who else got the email yesterday? DD is on waiting list they say she is in a really good position but not sure if that is the standard email or she is really in a good place

meonlyme · 23/01/2016 19:11

Lolokath19 I think it's 11 siblings and 9 places were available or the other way around. That's what I was told by a friend who's daughter has got in

Lolakath19 · 23/01/2016 19:50

Thanks a lot meonlyne! Do you know if they say you are in a very good position on the reserve list to all the waiting listed girls? Or that could mean we have a real chance. Is your friends daughter Autumn born?

meonlyme · 23/01/2016 23:05

No problem Lolakath19. Sorry I have no idea at all unfortunately. My friend's daughter is summer born (July).

Lolakath19 · 24/01/2016 07:32

Thx, did she applied for other prep school? Is FH her top one?

meonlyme · 24/01/2016 11:08

She did. But it is her top one

Lolakath19 · 24/01/2016 11:22

Guess there is only 8 places then now ! Congrats !

sanam2010 · 24/01/2016 12:18

Lolakath19, yes everyone on the WL gets that email.

There is no automatic place for siblings at FH by the way, so just bc there are 11 siblings, doesn't mean there are only 9 places. Also, they do take more than 20 girls each year if the applicants are strong.

Lolakath19 · 24/01/2016 13:27

Thanks sanam20
Do you know how many girls are on the WL? Are they following a strict order for the WL or if we show that we are really interested by calling etc it helps?

Lolakath19 · 24/01/2016 13:46

Did you get the same email?

Lolakath19 · 27/01/2016 10:44

Hi Everyone, did anyone get any other results, DD got in at GP, waiting for KP now, a few more days to stress!

meonlyme · 27/01/2016 14:57

Lolakath19, same here. Have you heard anything about GP that will affect your decision. I'm finding this quite hard as all schools are so similar in a way.

Lolakath19 · 27/01/2016 15:17

Hi Meomlyne, Congrats! super happy that DD got into GP! KP would be closer from home (ie 3 min walk) that will be the only reason why we would chose KP instead of GP. Which other schools did you apply to in south west?
What is your first choice.
I find it so difficult to choose but at least we ve got one so relieved!
What did you think about GP? I was so impressed by the girls there on the open days! I know my daughter will be in good hands now!
I yet have to realise, everyone was telling me she had no chance as English as additional language and summer born! so proud :)

Snfrog2 · 27/01/2016 21:40

Thank you for your message meonlyme. That is really helpful. Good luck for the final results.

Lolakath19 · 29/01/2016 11:51

Hi Meonlyme, did you hear from KP? DD got in :)
A few years to relax in front of us now :)

tiredoffour4plus · 29/01/2016 20:51

this wait is killing me! bring on next week?!

Lolakath19 · 29/01/2016 21:32

Tiredoffour4plus which school are you waiting for?

meonlyme · 29/01/2016 23:18

Yes Lolakath19, same here :) very thankful. Just waiting to hear from the rest Monday and get on with life. Can't believe this just 4+! Can you imagine what 7/11+ will be like 😳
