3+ 4+ 5+ 7+ support thread 2016

In previous years I have started these threads to help and support all those parents involved in the independent school admissions process.

I wasn't going to start one this year as I know I would not be able to check back on it as regularly as I would like, which then defeats the purpose of the thread.

However, after numerous positive PM's about the threads I think it would be a shame not to start one where at least the hand holding can continue. Flowers

There are many many people who have been through the process and 'live to tell the tale' . There are also other tutors I know who read this thread and it would be great if you all could help and support and share your ideas.

Lots of our friends not successful this time have advised we tutor? not sure what to do?
any advice welcome!

Do not tutor a 3 year old. That's madness.

There's a whole lot of madness about assessments for 3 year olds anyway.

Bigbiscuits · 15/02/2016 11:27

You can't tutor a 3 year old.

And I say this as someone who put my kids in for a such assessment.

Spend your money on more fun stuff.

Hi all,

I hope everyone is through the assessment trauma whether 4, 7 or 11+. A process I would prefer not to repeat - ever. That said, we have of course opted for a school without a sibling policy (St Albans High School for Girls Prep). DD1 will start in reception in Sept.

Off topic somewhat, but I am very keen for any advice / thoughts on good feeder nurseries / pre-preps for SAHG as we are moving from central London for the school so are clueless about the area. Ideally we want Montessori but that might not be possible. We are thinking Harpenden / Wheathampstead for a base.

Also keen for anybody with DDs starting in reception at SAHG to get in touch!

Were there examples of people getting 7+ waiting list offers after the acceptance deadline? I hope there were some happy people.

CB2009 · 07/03/2016 10:39

efrieze78 - I am afraid that I have not heard of anyone getting offers from the wait list after the acceptance deadline. May be there could still be small movement just before Sept start date if people pay deposits but sit on more than 1 school???

Hi all,

I've just published a book to support parents in navigating primary schooling (released this week; hard copy will be released in a couple of weeks :)). I would welcome thoughts and feedback. Good luck everyone!
