Apologies for the short OP, I'm out with dog and copying and pasting on the app is a nightmare.

Thanks for the new thread!

DH is definitely getting the idea. He just pointed out we might come unstuck on the toilet paper front.

The look on his face when I guided him to the spare room and pointed to the stash of loo rolls....Grin

katewhinesalot · 03/03/2020 19:37

Zinc and surgical spirit now on shopping list. Thanks

Home made weapons Shock

I must admit I got a little Ansty when dd said another couple of pupils asked to borrow her hand gel today.

Dh got 3 small bottles only. I was conflicted.
I don't want her to be mean and I shared some of mine at worlds today. However what are other parents doing?
Dd said she's noticed nothing at school today re extra washing or wipes for desk?

Springinsight · 03/03/2020 19:41

Wish, you should have filmed that and let us see😂.

My dh groans when ocado arrives with more loo roll.
I think he's happier now.

Today's new deaths in Washington state:

  • A female in her 80s, resident of LifeCare, never hospitalized, died at her family home on Feb. 26
  • A male in his 50s, resident of LifeCare, hospitalized at Harborview Medical Center and died on Feb. 26

Thanks for the advice on the Zinc Lozengers.

Have ordered 2 x boxes of 60 for my uni son and asked him to offer them to his housemates. He is in a shared house of 10. If one gets it they are all going down. Shock

WitchDoc · 03/03/2020 19:46

@Springinsight I've encouraged my kids to take their friends with them to wash their hands every time I text them to remind them to wash theirs.

I figure the more I get doing it in their little circle, the safer it is & it's more than the school are doing. No email of reassurance to the parents, no encouraged extra washing of hands but they do have soap in the toilets.

I wouldn't go as far as to offer their hand sanitizer as I only have 2 each for them.

Thanks for the new threadThanks

Legoandloldolls · 03/03/2020 19:46

Home made weapons? I thought that was the tins are for? Throwing them at the zombies?

Am I doing this wrong?

Springinsight · 03/03/2020 19:48

Good idea witch.

I also gave dd wipes to wipe down the desk she sits on, as they move around so much in secondary.

She forgets and says no one else is. She almost feels embarrassed. She's only 12.

sideorderofchips · 03/03/2020 19:48

My cats are fairly vicious. Well one is. Is that a weapon?

That or I could just set my kids on them

NewYearNewTwatName · 03/03/2020 19:48

Thanks ItsNot and Ofwarren

can anyone tell me if this aloe gel is any good for making hand gel with Rubbing Alcohol?

www.amazon.co.uk/Naissance-Aloe-Vera-Gel-no/dp/B01AVFQK4I/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?keywords=aloe+vera+gel+pure&sprefix=aloe+&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1583260297&sr=8-8

and does any one know what the correct ratios are to make it. I have one recipe but it didn't seem like a lot of Ethanol.

NatoPMT · 03/03/2020 19:49

No problem Minesa

Might reduce CV viral load from the microbiologists advice, and I think squashing any other infections is wise right now. We need to stay healthy.

Destinysdaughter · 03/03/2020 19:49

Am supposed to be going to Million Women Rise March in London on Sat. I have serious reservations whether to go or not, as will be surrounded by hundreds of pp, then have to go on tubes and trains, thus increasing exposure. Should I go or not?

wheresmymojo · 03/03/2020 19:50

Thanks for the new thread, I just got home from my course.

In regards to this:

I was just becoming a little zen when I read that Boris Johnson is going to carry on shaking hands.

Perhaps the country will be cleansed of arrogant arseholes who think they know better than experts through Darwinism.

Thanks for new thread.
Been to Lidl and added some more Easter chocolate to the stash.

Springinsight · 03/03/2020 19:53

Destiny who knows.

My own instincts are telling me not to mix with crowds where unnecessary.
I'm already exposed through work, dc are exposed through school.
People breathing on the you could give it to you. You could touch a rail where someone has it.
Why expose yourself if you can choose not to too?

AlohaMolly · 03/03/2020 19:56

We’ve stocked up on logs for the wood burner with enough to see us through the rest of spring now, and leave some to season for next year. I’m hoping to start saving a bit extra now as well, as both our incomes are tourism reliant and I can’t see that going too well Hmm

RedLentilYellowLentil · 03/03/2020 19:57

Thanks @ItsNotJustTheFuckingFlu.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 03/03/2020 20:03

I wouldn't be asking a dc to be wiping tables at school. I get that we are anxious, it's important not to pass that on to them.

I think hand gel before eating if they can't get to a sink and washing their hands at break time and if they use public transport when they get in would be an appropriate response and will conserve stocks for when there are more cases.

lachy · 03/03/2020 20:08

Just wanted to say thank you for all the helpful information you have shared on previous threads.

I've added to my stash again today and will continue adding.

I bought Antibacterial wipes today as even I am in the office we hot desk. I know they aren't antiviral, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to have them to hand!
