For the sake of our little thread gang I'm currently testing my zinc lozenges. I do have a slightly sore throat but nothing serious (I hope). I'll update in the morning. They taste lovely!

lachy · 03/03/2020 20:09

*as even though I work from home when...

Springinsight · 03/03/2020 20:10

Oh you bad,

They sort of hot desk at secondary. Moving from the class to class.

A quick wipe is also what I do at work as I also hot desk. Takes seconds.

I don't think that's conferring massive ocd panicking traits on them. Confused

Springinsight · 03/03/2020 20:12

Lachy,

They will at least wipe bacterial germs away as pp said we don't want to add illness in.
Also they will wipe virus away.

However I got the some anti bac and anti viral on super drug

BookofJudith · 03/03/2020 20:12

Destiny I am holding back from all large gatherings and my personal tolerance for large includes theatre/cinema sizes.

I totally understand your wish to go however Sad - although, I think it shows how my mind has completely single-tracked recently as I read your post as Milton Women Rise Blush

Whatthefoxgoingon · 03/03/2020 20:12

Thanks for the new thread @ItsNotJustTheFuckingFlu

Coughsyrupsucks · 03/03/2020 20:13

I have just promised DH that we have done the last shop Grin I haven’t told him about the massive order coming from Amazon tomorrow. You can order some Costco things on there.

Thankfully he got made redundant recently and is on garden leave so no traipsing into London anymore. DD is at 6th form but is actively trying to avoid large crowds and I WFH anyway. I think that’s it unless it’s essential we are in for the foreseeable future. My hands can’t take washing or antibac anymore and it’s only been 10 days of doing it!

Whatthefoxgoingon · 03/03/2020 20:14

Milton Women Rise.

Is that the preppers March then? Grin

Legoandloldolls · 03/03/2020 20:16

Newyernewname I think it looks ok, it's clear gel like banana boat. Just compare the prices incase it's too expensive

bellinisurge · 03/03/2020 20:18

Thank you. Really interesting and useful thread.

Moodykat · 03/03/2020 20:18

Just seen on a local Fb page that the Hampshire case is in Winchester.

Not sure if this link will work - www.facebook.com/399537927300632/posts/601950867059336/

Chile reports first case of coronavirus t.co/eUoE2b20hL

Puppycorn · 03/03/2020 20:20

@Springinsight my reception dd’s school didn’t allow her to have hand gel this morning so sprayed her hands before she entered the classroom. They said if need be they can wash their hands with soap. Dd says no one uses soap at school as it’s not reachable. Looks like there is no school rule or announcement to wash hands more often either . I’m now so worried now as there is one Northampton case .: it’s coming closer :/ I wish the schools close at the earliest and family isolation done at the earliest to contain the spread. And still there are knobheads arguing it’s nothing more than seasonal flu in my local fm fb page

RedLentilYellowLentil · 03/03/2020 20:21

I like the idea of the lozenges everyone's talking about. I'd been thinking I was pretty much stocked up with everything I'm going to bother with, but I think I'll go in search of some of those tomorrow. Holland & Barrett are sold out online already, but I've got a local branch I can check out. Thanks for the tip whoever found them first.

alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 03/03/2020 20:23

I want to thank everyone who has contributed to these threads. I have been getting increasingly anxious about the uncertainty and all the awful scenarios playing in my mind. Today however I created a list of items from these threads and was able to make proactive steps. I now have fully stocked cupboards and freezers and feel better for doing something positive.

Puppycorn · 03/03/2020 20:23

@TipseyTorvey from where did you buy them please? Asked dh to check the local pharmacy and they have said they don’t have them in the U.K. so sent dh the thread and he showed them. Still nothing expect for an unenthusiastic “oh we don’t have it”

Puppycorn · 03/03/2020 20:24

except not expect (autocorrect)

ofwarren · 03/03/2020 20:25

NEW: North Carolina reports first case of coronavirus t.co/eUoE2b20hL

Springinsight · 03/03/2020 20:25

Puppy it frustrates me so much.

Locus parentis.

NewYearNewTwatName · 03/03/2020 20:28

Thanks lego I'll get the banana boat one. It's already got alcohol in and its cheaper, were as I didn't know if with ingredients in the one I posted was safe to add alcohol to either.

do you know what ratios need to be?

HouseSpider · 03/03/2020 20:29

I just wanted to thank everyone for their updates, ideas and information. This has really helped my preparedness. I have just collected a chest freezer tonight, so batch cooking tomorrow

NatoPMT · 03/03/2020 20:29

@TipseyTorvey are you testing the Holland & Barrett ones or Zincovit?

I personally wouldn’t march at the moment.

Statement from North Carolina Governor Cooper on the state's first case of coronavirus. The patient had recently visited the long-term care facility at the center of the Washington outbreak. t.co/qMXUmjpw7Z

TipseyTorvey · 03/03/2020 20:33

I got my zinc lozenges from amazon at the recommendation of a US doc, sorry can't remember where his link was from now. They're called cold-eze. He said you need to keep them in your mouth and close to the back or your throat as possible.

NewYearNewTwatName · 03/03/2020 20:40

The humberside one is in Hull.

www.hulldailymail.co.uk/news/health/coronavirus-hull-patient-close-contacts-3911536

I'm not sure if they are the same ones who were reported to be taken away in an ambulance and Hazmat suits on Thursday. if it is then on the Thursday report it was a family of 4 who were unwell. so maybe another 3 will be added tomorrow?

if it is the Thursday family that's 5 days before the results are known.
