Haven't had much to contribute recently since nothing much has been happening to me, just waiting like everyone else. However today I saw the midwife, I haven't seen her since I was 34 wks I'm now 38+6! This wasn't her fault I've had work commitments and a last minute holiday. Anyway she's now delivered the homebirth kit, sorted out the on-call rota and so I now feel really ready to have this baby. I've had quite a few twinges over the last week although nothing today, the baby's 3/5s engaged (does this mean 3/5s in the pelvis or 3/5s still out?), is LOA which is a relief after the problems I had last time, and everything's well. Although DD was 2 weeks late I'm really hoping this one will get going soon because I don't like being in limbo. Still I'm filling up the diary with appointments so that I get the satisfaction of cancelling them (or just not turning up) when things do kick off.

Oakmaiden · 23/09/2003 20:31

My midwife came today, with the birthing pool. So we now have an interesting converation piece in the front room - and I'm beginning to hope that babe will turn up sometime within the next week or so - it take up a lot of room!!!!

But I still haven't done all of the things I need to do, so maybe not quite yet!

pupuce · 23/09/2003 20:32

When are you due Oakmaiden???

This is getting exciting - babies on their way again!

Oakmaiden · 23/09/2003 20:34

Woodge - it is a tricky one without seeing what the midwife has read - even then it is sometimes unclear. I would expect that the babe's head is 3/5 palpable (that 3/5 of the head can be felt above the pelvis.) As I recall it only ususally goes down further than that when you are actually in labour (since when it is 1/5 palpable it is normally visible from, um, the right angle!) So 2/5 is beneath the pelvis - 3/5 can be felt above it. Probably.

Oakmaiden · 23/09/2003 20:37

I meant what the midwife had "written", obviously.

Pupuce - not due til 12th Oct, so probably a fair wait yet. But maybe not - have been feeling a bit pre-laboury for a couple of days now. But that could last for ages (or could be a figment of my imagination!)

Wiltshire, has your c/s been brought forward if you're going in this friday, was it originally the 5th or did I read that wrong?

Bekki · 23/09/2003 20:59

I'm starting to think that the September babies thread might be a little bit sparce if some of you don't get a move on. At least Wiltshire is a certainty. I feel like my baby will be in school by the time you're all finished having yours. Nevermind I suppose we could make a joint Sept/Oct thread.

Sorry thats probably the last thing you want to hear when you're all so fed up but I want to talk about sore nipples and the colour of baby poo with you all. Fingers crossed for everyone due this week for a wonderful and on time delivery.

Spod · 23/09/2003 21:12

please add me to the list - I'm having csection on Oct 17!!

wiltshire · 23/09/2003 22:33

don't know why my c/s has been bought forward. Sounds daft but I don't care. Just wanat a baby.

Brookstone · 24/09/2003 16:38

wiltshire, looks like we're in the same boat. apparently, i've got a big baby too although i've no idea where that's come from IYKWIM!
I was booked to have a CS tomorrow but i managed to get a reprieve so now the decision will be made on friday instead. it's a toss up between induction or section in case the baby is too big at full term and then they'll be forced to do an emergency section! my weeks reprieve was only so i could eat currys and drink raspberry leaf tea...but it looks like it ain't gonna do a thing!

wiltshire · 24/09/2003 16:42

Scary innit

wiltshire · 24/09/2003 16:44

pupuce · 24/09/2003 17:23

How many weeks are you Brookstone ?
You could try refelxology - at the very least you get a nice foot massage... and if you get induce anyway the reflexology might help too...

ANGELMOTHER · 24/09/2003 19:38

Ok I've given up and off to the flicks tomorrow night to see "Calendar Girls"........am I mad??
Woodge, Emma, Oaky, Ragtaggle and myself, I never realised so many of us were going for homebirths
Brooky RLT, Currys etc don't work, the only thing I can't stomache trying is sex....good luck though. Wiltshire I sooooo envy you, you know WHEN.
Anything stirring Emma, or are you like me SICK of everyone asking the same. From now when I get that smiley face asking me "Got long to go ?" I'm going to say "For what ?"

Hi Girls.........Hoor-rah my waiting has ended!
James Finley made his speedy arrival at 6:46am and he's absolutely prefect.

Other stuff on Birth announcements..........to knackered to write it again and sitting on this hard chair isn't particulary (sp?) comfy.

ANGELMOTHER · 24/09/2003 20:25

You beat me, you beat me, you beat me, you beat me, you beat me, you beat me, you beat me, you beat me...........Well done girl, but I HAVE to be next

pie · 25/09/2003 13:49

wow...quiet in here huh?

Oakmaiden · 25/09/2003 14:31

Hi there Pie. How are you?

I spent this morning lying on my bed crying. Not really sure why - just felt like it. Bl**dy hormones, probably....

Starting to feel that I've had enough....

pie · 25/09/2003 14:33

Oakmaiden

I know what you mean about the crying and had enough, it feels like this has gone on for ever doesn't it?

DH has brought curry and the kitchen looks like a pineapple farm, hoping to help my body along a bit before I get induced.

Do some pampering for the rest of the day, watch awful tv, have a good cry

{HUGS{}}

ANGELMOTHER · 26/09/2003 09:48

Everytime I post on this thread I see my first post and think how long ago it was.
It does feel as though this has been going on forever doesn't it....and we've gone quite quiet here too.
Oaky I know how you feel I threw a complete wobbly on dd1 towards the end, I'd seen Christmas come and go and didn't want to take the tree down
I chickened out of going to the movies last night as I was sure something was going to happen, I'd had some niggly pains and truly believed this was it.......oh well had a good nights sleep anyway so feel ready for anything today.
My Mum is here a week now and we're all just waiting, inevitable how she starts to get on my nerves too.
Wiltshire you've been quiet too hope all is ok

Bekki · 26/09/2003 15:05

Don't worry Angelmother I have just discovered that I can predict babies birth dates, two of my friends babies born on the day I said that they would. And if I look in my crystal ball then your baby will be born on the 29th in the morning, half 6-7ish. So plan everything for that day and I'll be waiting for your announcement at 7.30am on Monday. Don't prove me wrong Angelmother! Oh it will be a girl and will probably be called Sophie weighing 8lb 2oz.

Good luck Wiltshire!

Does anyone know how to get baby poo stains out of white sleepsuits?

Oakmaiden · 26/09/2003 15:49

Bekki - you could try soaking in Napisan?

Bekki · 26/09/2003 16:00

Napisan? Is that the washing powder you soak terry nappies in? Where can I buy that from?

ANGELMOTHER · 26/09/2003 16:23

Ok Bekki based on your predictions I'm off to the hairdresser tomorrow, so if my waters break sitting in Toni & Guy on your head be it
