NQWWW · 04/03/2003 13:39

Welcome gingerbabe and congrats on your pg. Wish my dp was as sympathetic as your dh I'm at the same stage as you, but my symptoms are exactly the same as last time - feeling very sick but only actually vomitted once. Maybe I'm having another ds, and you're having one of the opposite sex to your existing ds/dd? (If you believe the folklore)

LEWEI · 05/03/2003 15:43

I am due on oct 21, but will be delivering three weeks before. Have just started the morning/noon/night nausea and the crazy cravings. Pickled onions and salad cream at the moment!!!!

Bekki · 07/03/2003 20:43

Why will you be delivering 3 weeks before? Are they inducing you for any medical reason or is it an elective c-section?
By the way everybody I'm very excited! I was looking through my sons baby clothes and suddenly I felt overwhelmed with excitement. The problem with that feeling though is theres no way of explaining it to anyone. I feel like I need to tell everyone I've ever met all of my symptoms and all the changes, but it would inevitably bore them to tears. Hows everybody else doing? Has anyone been surprised by their feelings negative or positive?

LEWEI · 10/03/2003 14:34

Bekki
I will be having a c-section at 37wks because my son was stillborn at 37 wks last year, so they don't want to take any risks this time. I have had some spotting over the weekend, but it started on the day my period was due and has almost gone now. I was in touch with midwife and hospital, both seem to think it is hormonal but having a re-scan on wed just to make sure. Has anyone else expeienced this kind of spotting/bleeding around period time?

EmmaTMG · 10/03/2003 15:59

Lewei, Firstly, I'm so sorry to read about your baby, I really cannot imagine how awful it must of been, I really do hope that you are enjoying this pregnancy and trying not to worry, very difficult though I expect.
I had some spotting at 5-6 weeks and then again at about 10 weeks which would be around the times that my period would be due. The first time was due to implantation and they said the second time was possible the remainder from the first time but couldn't give me an absolute answer. They were not in the slightest bit concerned about.
I had my 12 week scan today and Thank-god every thing was fine. We had some complications with DS2 so it was a massive relief, Maybe I get a good night sleep tonight without worring that things.

Bekki · 11/03/2003 20:44

Oh, LEWEI I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I really can't imagine how shocking that would have been for you. By the time I was 30 weeks I felt relaxed and confident that nothing could ever go wrong after that point. It makes me ashamed that I moaned about almost everything after the birth of my first child, I took his excellent health for granted. I suppose nothings guareented but I imagine that it will make this baby even more important and loved. I hope that the bleeding hasn't caused you to much unneccesary worry, good luck for tomorrow.

ANGELMOTHER · 12/03/2003 23:10

Haven't checked this thread for a bit. Lewei so sad to hear your story, one can't begin to imagine how heartbreaking something such as that can be. Hope all is well and your scan relieves any worries. My sil had spotting for the first 4 mths of her pregnancy, the same time every month so fingers crossed things will be fine for you as they were for her.
I had my scan today and it is so reassuring to see a little one bouncing and heart beating, I'll sleep well tonight hope you will too.

Hi LisaLisa - Looks like were due the same time. I'm due on Oct 30th. Good luck with your pregnancy.

NQWWW · 19/03/2003 16:01

Lewei - I'm so sorry to hear about your horrendous experience last time. Hope your scan went well - do let us know.

NQWWW · 26/03/2003 11:17

Its gone very quiet out there - how are we all?

I'm waiting today to hear whether or not I've got gestational diabetes - had a glucose tolerance test yesterday following a dodgy blood test last week. No phone call yet, so fingers crossed (she's only going to call if there's a problem - don't you hate that?). I really binged on sweets for the first trimester as that's all I wanted to eat, so it is quite worrying.

bells2 · 26/03/2003 14:29

Best of luck NQWWW.

I am 13 weeks or so now and just starting to think about stopping b/feeding my 16 month old. I will be sad to do so but I really don't think I could cope with tandem feeding. Had to tell our Nanny last night that she will be out of a job from July. She made us feel pretty awful about the whole thing which has left me feeling miserable. Oh well.

pie · 26/03/2003 16:28

Thought I would put in an apperance here as hopefully baby number 2 will be here 16th October. I'm 11 weeks today. I have one DD who is 4 and the last time I was pregnant I had a mc at 9 weeks. I'm being to feel confident and rotund. I think I look about 6 months pregnant...keep thinking it must be twins, but I know it's just my extra baggage!!!

Bekki · 26/03/2003 20:48

Congratulations Pie! I'm sorry to hear about your first pregnancy. I suppose it gives you a bit more comfort now that you're near the 12 week mark. Although pregnancy is one big worry from start to finish. Isn't it funny how we all secretly wish for a twin pregnancy, until it actually happens then you might swiftly change your outlook. I'm 16 weeks now and waiting for the first movements, I keep on thinking that I've felt the movements but apparently its just my muscles stretching, or wind.

EmmaTMG · 26/03/2003 21:19

Well Bekki, I wouldn't be so sure. This is your 2nd baby if I remember correctly and when I was PG with DS 2 I had felt movement at 16 weeks, and it was definatley the baby.
I'm almost 15 weeks now and on 2 occaisions I've felt 2 very real little prods, nothing like wind or stretching, but a proper poke.

Can I ask you all a question Ladies? I suddenly feel really affectionate toward DH and actually quite like him again now. Has anyone else felt this? is it our hormones, I can't remember this happening with our 2 boys and poor DH is getting his hopes up!

forest · 27/03/2003 12:19

Well I'll finally join this thread. Firstly, congrats to all of you.
I am 9 weeks at the moment (due end of October) and feeling really spacey most of the time. Also much tireder than I was last time but dd is only 11 months! Thankfully the sickness is no where near as bad as last time. Not sure if I am showing yet - though if I push my tummy out I look huge!
You'll have to let me know how you go stopping feeding bells2. I am still feeding dd although we have just got down to 2 feeds a day. Like you I don't really fancy tandem feeding.

bells2 · 27/03/2003 15:00

Forest I'm down to 2 feeds a day too. I don't actually expect it to be a huge problem as she is nowhere near as enthusiastic about it as she was a few months back. I just feel sad about it ending.

wallythecat · 29/03/2003 10:58

Hi there, I'm new to this site, and I'm due with no 3 on 8th september 2003 but midwife thinks it's bigger than that. Hope I can reach the end of august with this one as no2 was born at 31+6.
Anyone else due around then?

Ghosty · 29/03/2003 11:11

I read an amazing article about an NZ mum who tandem fed all her children ... She had 4 children really close together and fed No1 ... then No1 and No2 .... then No2 and No3 ... and then No3 and No4 and then No4 .... She was continuously feeding for somthing like 7 years ... WOW ...

Oakmaiden · 30/03/2003 18:57

Hello there - hopefully it is safe to introduce myself now. I've been counting down the days until today! Baby no 2 is due 12th October. I have had 2 miscarriages since no1 was born (and he is 5 now!) but hopefully all will be well this time. I have felt quite rubbish since week 4, but during the past week I have been feeling a lot livelier (sp?).
Went out and bought a crib today (as a kind of hurrah I've made it this far present), and then when I got home I decided that I HAD to make it now (because if I left it for any length of time I wouldn't be able to take it back if it was faulty (my excuse, and I'm sticking to it!)) ASnyway, it is SO sweet. I'm really excited now.

Lil · 31/03/2003 13:26

Bells, can't believe your nanny gave you a hard time, what a nerve!!! She should be happy for you, what does she expect you to do, have a family to suit her??? bizarre.

BTW am v. impressed with your breastfeeding, mine is already a memory, with nowt but saggy boobs to remember it all by!

bells2 · 31/03/2003 13:59

Kind of you to say so Lil. She went on and on and on about the lack of notice although including the redundancy payment it adds up to about 4 1/2 months and then went on and on for even longer about how she would never ever find another job as things are all so gloomy. Since then, her Dad has been taken ill and there have been lots of pointed "on top of me losing my job" remarks... I am a bit surprised as by the time she leaves, it will be almost 4 years which to my mind is quite a long time for a Nanny job to last. Sigh.

Anyway have been meaning to ask you for ages, how is your DD doing? Any improvement in her condition?

Oh and my chest wasn't worth preserving in the first place!

kaz33 · 31/03/2003 14:12

Bells2

Your nanny is being unreasonable - 4 years is an awfully long time for a nanny job to last. Yes things are tough out there but she is obviously an experienced nanny whom you will give good references to so should be ok. In any event it is not your problem.

Strangely enough since we gave our nanny her notice we have been getting on really well and she is being very supportive and enthusastic about number two even though she won't be there to look after him. We have also just agreed an extension so that she will stay an extra month to give me a hand in the first month or so...

I do feel for you as what you need is support and enthusasim at what is a difficult and scary time for you. I oscillate between being excited and darn right terrified.

NQWWW · 31/03/2003 14:24

Congrats Oakmaiden, forest and wallythecat. Wallythecat - I'm due the same day as you, although my midwife also said I was 5 days further on, but I'm sure of my dates.

No gestational diabetes I'm pleased to say, and I've felt the first definite movements today - all very exciting.

Bells2 - sorry to hear your nanny is being dificult. What does she expect you to do? Don't let her get to you.

NQWWW · 31/03/2003 14:28

EmmaTMG - wish I could say I've been overwhelmed with positive feelings towards my dp. Quite the opposite as he expected me to carry on cooking all through my nauseous months (and made very sarky comments about any ready-meals I dared to dish up). And hanging over us is the dreaded debate about whether or not I'm going back to work after this one - hope to put off that little argument as long as possible!
