Congrats you! DD was born on 25 Sept 02. Coooool birthdate - Cathryn Zeta AND Michael D also share the birthday (no not in their fan club!) just remember reading it in the Times that morning as my contractions started and wanted to know what other famous chicks babe would be sharing it with. Cannot remember the other, prob world leaders, no one of importance then!!

CrazyMum · 28/01/2003 09:54

Congratulations - Found out yesterday that I am expecting late September, hasnt really sunk in yet - feeling a little nauseated and crampy - didnt with my first child though - is this a sign of things to come??

EmmaTMG · 28/01/2003 10:19

Excellent news...I'm due on 21st september(with No.3) so it looks like there going to be quite a few of us increasing our shopping bill in september.
It would be nice if we could all keep track of eachother and our pregnancy ailments through the summer, lets hope it's not to hot for us.

Bekki · 28/01/2003 23:31

Hi everyone I'm due Sept 6th. Irritating morning sickness is overtaking my life right now. My husband and I share the same birthday on Sept 25th too we also got married on that date last year it would be a quite strange if this baby was as late as my first and was born on the 25th. I doubt they'd let me stay pregnant for that long though! Has anyone else started to put weight on already? My mum says that there is no reason why you should put any more weight on other than the extra weight of the baby. But with this pregnancy and my first I put vertually all my weight on in the first 3 months.

ANGELMOTHER · 29/01/2003 15:56

Congrats all. Yes EmmaTMG lets try and keep up to date on each others pregnancy, let's hope not too many ailments for any of us though, I too am trying to get it to sink in. Feel pretty fine so far but the tiredness and nausea is really starting to kick in.
Can't say I've put any extra baby weight on yet Bekki your mum is probably right but I know I'm not as fit going into this pg as I was on Dd. However the fact that I am now pg has somehow convinced me I'm allowed to eat as much chocolate as I like....

My 2nd is due 1st Sept. Funny - it's not nearly as anxious-making or exciting as No 1. Am quite blase about it all now (was initially not at all pleased as did the test on New Year's Eve just before going out for a night of wild partying - which did not happen).
Feeling sick and tired, especially as I have to get up at least 2x every night to wee. But no sign of the dreaded heartburn - hooray - which I had all day every day from the date of conception to the date of birth with No 1. Pleased about that.
Am looking forward to the summer and all those figure hugging dresses - I love not having to hold your tummy in!

EmmaTMG · 29/01/2003 16:11

I'm amazed at how tired I've been since finding out, I normally get to watch TV until about 11pm but now I have to fight to keep my eyes open for Eastenders...mind you that's not such a bad thing! I'm loathed to admit it but I did feel abit 'icky' this morning but at only 6 weeks and 3 days I thought it can't be happening already.....oh the joys of motherhood!
I agree on the increased chocolate intake, just think how much more energy it's giving us. DS1 came out suger coated when he was born as I ate soooooo much bad stuff.

ANGELMOTHER · 29/01/2003 18:12

Ha Ha sugar coated baby.....thank god we get free dental benefit. Boobs ache like crazy but agree with Cha the novelty is nothing like the first am taking it all in my stride with a few star bars along the way.....

I'm only 10-11 weeks but my bump is noticeable. I've always had a bit of a belly but it looked quite flat before this pregnancy (when fully clothed), but now I can't suck it in anymore and people have told me that I can't be showing yet and maybe I should cut back a bit on biscuits. I feel that my body is out of control and getting bigger for no reason. The only thing that is keeping me sane is that I feel sexier when I'm pregnant. Shame I look like a whale. Anyone else feel that there stomachs think they are 6 months gone?

EmmaTMG · 03/02/2003 20:33

I'm only 7 weeks and already can't hold my belly in...god only knows what it will be like at 6-7-8 months.
I normally have a real sweet tooth but have made a conscience effort to not eat many as with our DS2 I was huge by 16 weeks so I can't say it's the biccies and sweets....mind you it was shopping day today and I did have a yummy fresh cream cake but thats just a reward for fighting my way around Asda!.....Guilty conscience cleared!

Cha · 07/02/2003 14:38

Bekki - I was told that the second / third etc pregnancy shows earlier because your body's that bit more 'stretchier'. I am 10 weeks and already having to undo the top button of my jeans.
Angelmother - heartburn? Resident Expert here (had it fiercly and ferociously from the day of conception to the day of birth with no 1). If you get sick of Rennies / gaviscon, a natural alternative that really works (well, it did for me) is fresh pineapple. Tinned or juice don't work unfortunately. They are expensive and hard to find sometimes - and you do have to eat about a third of one for it to have an effect, but it is (as the book I got this lifesaving tip from said)'infallable'.

ANGELMOTHER · 08/02/2003 13:54

Thanks Cha never heard of that one before maybe we'll be having a tropical pregnancy now, pineapple cocktails who knows....

ANGELMOTHER · 22/02/2003 09:28

How are you all feeling ladies, I thought I'd try and catch up early though it is.
My dh says I'm really starting to show albeit I think I still look simply fat. I also seem to have broken through the morning sickness barrier...thank god as it was starting to ruin my life lol, those sea bands which I read about on here really helped.
Welcome to the club Ange22 I wondr which of us will go first

Hi girls, Have to agree that the sickness has passed, although I still feel a little green if I get hungry which may be the reason why I've also got a little bump already as I've got a much bigger appetite. I'm due 21st Sept (10 weeks tomorrow) and if the pregnancy with DS2 is anything to go by I'll be the size of a house by 4 months.
Hope you're all feeling good.

NQWWW · 24/02/2003 11:41

Hello ladies. I'm due to have my second (1st DS has just turned 2) on the 8th Sept, so have just hit the 12 weeks mark - hurrah! Very cross today as I was booked in for a nuchal scan with a private clinic who warned me that they were moving over the weekend, phoned me yesterday to say the move had gone fine tho there may be some delays, then phoned me this morning to say they have no electricity and the scan is postponed till Thursday. Am fuming and very disappointed

Still, here's a poll to cheer me up - should I ask what sex it is?

Bekki · 25/02/2003 19:45

Hi everyone I'm now 12+4 weeks and counting, I got my scan date through today, 11th April. Its a long way off, I must be the most impatient pregnant person ever. Assuming everythings o.k I will demand to know the sex of this baby I can't stand not knowing. NQWWW I don't know how you could contain yourself from not asking, go for it. With my last pregnancy I had a very strong feeling that i was having a boy and I was right. So for the record I think I'm having a girl this time. I'm going to look so stupid if this turns out to be wrong but I really beleive that women have an ability to know the sex of their unborn. I went to see the midwifery unit where I will hopefully be having this baby. It is perfect, it is so clean and homely. It has private rooms with private toilets and it has a birthing pool in every room. I am so excited about this now I can't wait. Anyone else going for a midwifery unit?

Gem13 · 25/02/2003 20:49

NQWWW

Personally, I think it's great to wait and see. We didn't want to know but we did both want a boy and called it 'him' all the way through. 2 weeks before DS (hurray!) arrived I realised there was an obvious sign on my 20 week scan picture. It had been scanned and sent to family and friends, photocopied and sat beside our tv for 5 months. Only one person realised and knowing we didn't want to know didn't say anything , bless her! Was really delighted but didn't tell anyone until we announced his arrival.

I thought not knowing would get me through labour but as a friend said she really didn't care at that point and neither did I

Each to their own really - but surely everyone likes (good) surprises!

BTW - still bought clothes for a girl, agreed on a name and felt a bit sad that DS wasn't a DD... There's no accounting for hormones!

Congratulations to all on your Autumn babies.

ANGELMOTHER · 25/02/2003 21:40

Hi to NQWWW and Beki,
NQWWW personally I always like to be prepared so I intend to find out the sex of my own, did so with dd and feel it gives me more time to choose the right name, bond with my baby etc (also do I buy pink or blue).
Bekki not to up on midwiffery units, my dd wasn't born in UK so am only assessing my options at the mo, but definitely sounds interesting, where is yours btw ?
Have my booking apt next week and first scan the following week so feel as though things are stepping up now..

Midwifery units do seem great, but a word of warning... of the 7 NCTers in my group, 6 wanted to have their babies at the local one and only 1 did and she was transferred to hospital (7 miles away) afterwards. So, a bit like writing your birth plan, don't think that it's laid in stone and anything else that happens is 'not right'.

Note of caution aside, the surroundings were great and the midwives lovely, but trawling to hospital by ambulance in the (very) latter stages of labour was horrendous (for me) - hopefully, yours won't be too far away but it is worth bearing in mind/investigating.

Bekki · 26/02/2003 21:45

I know the risks but considering the alternative (a run-down, disesed infested baby factory) I'll take the risk. After last time where I just nodded and went along with what anyone suggested I now know better. I will have a lovely water birth in my midwifery unit, I won't be induced and I am having a girl. Think positive. And no I don't like surprises I need to know what my present is before I open it so I don't look too disappointed, same goes for babies. Because I had worked myself up to having a boy with my last one I needed to know so I wouldn't be too disappointed if it was a girl. I found it hard enough to bond with my first baby anyway because he didn't look at all how I imagined, I looked at him very suspiciously for over a month. Now if you added to that equation my baby coming out a different sex, well then I would have been completely convinced he'd been swapped. I had a lot of baby swapping nightmares towards the end of my last pregnancy.

NQWWW · 27/02/2003 21:16

Had my scan today and it was great news - my age-related risk factor was 1 in 125 and my adjusted risk factor is 1 in about 1200. Couldn't be happier with that Of course it was too early to tell the sex, I should have known that.

And I've got the whole thing on video!

bossykate · 27/02/2003 21:52

great news, nqwww, congratulations!

gingerbabe · 03/03/2003 17:17

Hi

New to this website. I am 13 weeks pregnant and due on Sept 10th. It's very reassuring to hear about women who feel that they look about 6 months pregnant already as I feel exactly the same. Forget not being able to do up the button on my jeans - I can't get into them. This is my 2nd and I'm sure I didn't show so early last time.

Things are quite different this time round - don't know if anyone else is finding that. With my 1st I had a little nausea, but this time it's just constant including actual vomiting (pleasant!). As the weeks go by I keep thinking it must end soon, but no! On the plus side my hubbie is cooking all the dinners as I can't even face the smell of the kitchen.
