so I’ve woken up today at what should be 8 weeks and feel like my very minor symptoms have all but disappeared. I didn’t have many to start with, but more hungry, fatigued and had sore boobs but my boobs feel almost back to normal. I had a miscarriage in the 8-9th week of my last pregnancy so feeling a bit anxious!
Not sure what my goal is with posting this, hopefully to get a bit of reassurance if it’s happened to anyone else?
Im trying to put off my first scan but may end up having one this week if this continues.

I had all the symptoms under the sun weeks 5-8. 8w2 then I woke up and they was vanished. I've had tiredness and a few headaches since then and that's it really. I had private 10 week scan a few days ago and the baby's absolutely fine growing as normal with strong heartbeat so please try not to worry.

If it makes you feel better, my mum had a mmc round at the 12 week scan. Baby was measuring only 6 weeks and for the whole 6 weeks while it had no heartbeat all of her symptoms continued just the same as her successful pregnancy's. So please don't rely on symptoms to help you think everything's fine. I know it can help anxiety feeling like your on deaths door. It's just that your body has readjusted to the hormones quicker than others body's have. We're all different and every pregnancy's different. I've been having weekly private scans and baby's fine at everyone regardless of how normal I feel x

Superscientist · 07/08/2024 07:59

@Lalalala77 at 8 weeks I had Monday to Thursday off with sickness and couldn't move from the sofa. Friday to Saturday afternoon I was completely fine. Saturday afternoon the symptoms started to come back. The nausea hasn't been as bad as it was at 8 weeks but it's been there.

I have had some bleeding yesterday evening and over night. Mostly spotting but the odd bit of thicker red periods like blood. I've got a nervous wait for the epu phone line to open at 8.30. I spoke with out of hours last night.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to me, you’ve made me feel better! I will likely book in a scan still but not feeling as panicked as I was.
So glad to hear your pregnancy is progressing well 😊

Lalalala77 · 07/08/2024 08:21

@Superscientist sorry to hear you’re having a difficult time at the moment - fingers crossed that the EPU see you and all is well!

Ellsx6 · 07/08/2024 08:29

@Lalalala77 if you've had a miscarriage before around 8-9 weeks why don't you get a scan around the 9 week point instead of closer to now? I know it's a little hard to wait but I try and space mine to the milestones I'm trying to get past. So like I wanted to get to 8 weeks as it's most common for mc to happen between 6-8. When I got to 8w it made me feel like well it's not happened when it was most likely and baby's fine so I doubt it will now. Then at 9w2 I'd say well it's 2 days past 9w mark and baby's fine. 10w well weve made it to double digits and baby's fine. Now I'll go at 11weeks and see since my 10w scan when I could see placenta took over my placentas worked for a whole week it must be fine and so on. It helps me get the maximum reassurance out of my scan. If you get one now you might still be thinking well if it happened at 9w last time it might be okay now but happen at 9w again do you get what I'm saying? My midwife said no bleeding you should be fine and it's very unlikely to have a mc with no bleeding or excruciating cramps and even then that doesn't always mean mc either. It's a hard time I know. I think we're all struggling to some extent. Your not alone🌸

HappyGoLucky31 · 07/08/2024 08:32

@Lalalala77

its so hard not to spiral into anxiety but I’ve been pregnant twice before - 1st time I had a MMC and 2nd time I had my son, both times I had no symptoms so a healthy pregnancy can be totally symptomless :)

I am 9w4ds today (saw baby on a scan yesterday due to bleeding since 5w) and was worried as I hadn’t had any cramps for about two weeks. Since last night I have had cramps - actually kept waking me up 🤣

so I think yours will come back.

so hard to get to that 12 week mark for reassurance but it is coming ❤️

Ellsx6 · 07/08/2024 08:34

@Superscientist sorry to hear that, I hope it all goes well..wishing you luck💕

HappyGoLucky31 · 07/08/2024 08:34

@Ellsx6 same with the 4 meals or thereabouts everyday! 😅 If you had seen my Greggs order yesterday ….

it is difficult because I am so ridiculously hungry. Like making lunch at 11am hungry. But as from today I’m going to a bit more sensible … she says, after 6 choc chip cookies with tea 🙈

HappyGoLucky31 · 07/08/2024 08:36

@Superscientist thinking of you ❤️

im a broken record I know, but early bleeding isn’t always bad news. It’s very common.

Ellsx6 · 07/08/2024 08:39

@HappyGoLucky31
There you go! My cousin had her first baby 3 years ago and was symptomless and she's here and healthy now
7 months pregnant again and she still has no symptoms with this one either and all looks well so far. She's never had a miscarriage either it seems it's possible sometimes for it to be fine even when you feel so normal. I kept seeing a lot about first timers ending in MC which is the only thing that really fuels my anxiety at this point and I'm equally surrounded by family who's first times successful but also who's wasn't so it's not easy! Xx

Proper meals gross me out atm so my day looks like
OMG IM STARVING FEED ME NOW
'Bowl of cereal it's quick (and full of sugar!!!)
Lunch time - give me alllll the toast I don't want proper food
2 hrs after lunch- omg so hungry give me a rustler burger and all the snacks I'm gonna pass out
Dinner time - jacket potato or more bread (I've got a thing about meat atm it gives me the major ick)

God what a small dinner I'm starving 'reaches for dessert'😅😅😅

jellyfish2 · 07/08/2024 08:50

@Lalalala77 I'm 8+1 today and my symptoms haven't really got any worse. I'm really tired and feel a bit sick when I haven't eaten but feel like they're getting slightly better. I'm trying not to worry to much as like Ells said, my last pregnancy ended in MMC and I had symptoms all the way through til I had surgery. (I found out at my 12wk scan).

Superscientist · 07/08/2024 09:02

Thanks @Lalalala77 @Ellsx6 @HappyGoLucky31 (sorry if I missed anyone)

It's been less this morning and there wasn't much overnight. I have a scan booked tomorrow morning. They could have done this morning but I don't have childcare as it's my non working day and my partner work is in the opposite direction to the hospital so wouldn't have made it in time. It's my daughters birthday this week and we have a day out planned today and she is so excited. I don't want to ruin that so I couldn't make the other appointment times today. Had it been heavier and with cramping I would have cancelled are plans. It will be what it will be. I think being out for the day will be a nice distraction!

HappyGoLucky31 · 07/08/2024 09:22

@Superscientist days like today are the best thing as you will be so distracted and it’ll be tomorrow morning before you know it :)
have a wonderful day with your little one. 🩷

@Ellsx6 tell me about it …. Just want all the junk! When it gets round to an actual meal I’m like 🤢😅

Mrbay · 07/08/2024 10:41

Morning All!

Lots to catch up since I last posted so sorry I've missed your post.

Cramping and blood doesn't always mean MC, however, being been there a few times myself the not knowing is the worst. Normally I can tell by my cervix on where it is and how it feels.

Sickness has really kicked in this time for me, since Thursday I have really struggled to keep food down. As I've lost 5lbs since the start of the pregnancy, the GP prescribed me some meds - not in stock anywhere until Thursday. Thankfully, I was at least able to eat and keep down my tea last night.

I feel like I could sleep for a week - had to have a 2hour nap yesterday, I've told my manager that I'll just muddle along and keep on top of work until this passes. God knows how I'll manage in the office today.

Booking in appointment with the midwife in an hour - I'm sure there'll be lots of questions I won't know the answer too!

ConfusedCrab · 07/08/2024 13:08

Hope the scan goes well @Superscientist I’m in a similar position but can’t have a scan until Monday which isn’t good. I feel like I do know that it won’t be good news for me, the wait till Monday is going to be a long one.

ninaballerina12 · 07/08/2024 14:29

Hey, I’ve been a little quiet on here as I’ve been really struggling with nausea like I know a lot of you have! Hope everyone is doing ok and sending love to all those with upcoming scans.

I’m 10+3 today and saw little one on a scan yesterday (having NHS 2 weekly scans as I’m on progesterone).

To spread a bit of hope for others struggling with symptoms, I feel my nausea has really subsided since yesterday except the weird taste in my mouth. I feel human again and life feels so much easier.

I wondered if any second time mums got a bump at 10 weeks? I feel like mine is quite prominent and noticeable already - hoping it’s related to baby changes and not all the carbs I’ve been surviving off for the past 5 weeks or so! 😅

10w2 here and clothes are tight as anything but I think that's all the carbs sweets and cakes 😅😅my mum said start shopping for maternity clothes I nearly had a heart attack gaining this much already hahaha first timer here tho so yours is more likely to be a baby and mines more likely to be food 🤣

ninaballerina12 · 07/08/2024 15:44

@Ellsx6 let’s just tell ourselves it’s baby… 😅 I asked my partner to get my maternity clothes down from the loft today so you would be in good company! I feel we’re in that awkward bit where normal clothes just feel a bit tight and it’s so much nicer to be comfy 😊

I’m looking forward to dressing a big bump in winter this time!

Ellsx6 · 07/08/2024 15:55

@ninaballerina12 I am over the moon to be heavily pregnant in winter and feel like styling a bump that time of year will be so much better I'm actually quite excited for that part even if I'm gaining weight😅I have lived in stretchy tops and jogging bottoms all week lucky I work from home haha. Jeans are my worse nightmare atm no thanks!!

Superscientist · 07/08/2024 16:32

I'm 10 weeks and no bump but I have lost half a stone. When my friends all had their seconds they were obviously pregnant by the time they were making announcements at 12 weeks pregnant. They were all 2y post partum whereas I am 4y I don't know if that has any impact on the stomach muscles. I know I quickly looked slightly pregnant with period bloating around 2y post partum but less so more recently

Food and especially water has started to taste weird too @ninaballerina12. I made my daughter a birthday cake at the weekend and it tasted rancid but everyone else thought it was fine.

Thanks for the well wishes. The bleeding has come back again and period like with a bit of cramping. I'll keep monitoring like out of hours recommended last night and if it gets worse go to a & e as the epu is now closed but I hope to make it through to the morning and the scan. The way I see it is there's 3 things I can hear tomorrow, 1 it's not successful, 2 all is fine or 3 something between the two and if 2 or the 3 options have hope I will stay hopeful but braced to hear the worst.

Superscientist · 07/08/2024 16:35

I have maternity clothes that I never stopped wearing! I wore pregnancy jeans for about 18 months after having my daughter as jeans buttons were more effort than the energy I had. I just folded the stretchy bit over as a waist band.
I have 2 dresses that just like floaty dresses that I loved too much to pack away!

ninaballerina12 · 07/08/2024 20:23

@Superscientist I’m so sorry to hear you’re going through this; it’s so mentally tough! I find it always seems to happen on a weekend when EPU is closed! Sending best wishes and hope you get seen quickly tomorrow x

gormlessgoldilocks · 08/08/2024 09:18

@Superscientist I'm so sorry! Fingers crossed for you

I'm on my second round of bleeding but got told not to bother calling unless I fill a pad. I got told at my scan this week that I will likely get regular bleeding if I've had it once this early so definitely not feeling reassured.

Also measuring a lot smaller than my dates but all I can do is sit tight. We got a heartbeat so that's something to hold onto!
