Hello!

I know there are quite a few threads like this, but thought I’d start a new one for those of us going through this just now šŸ™‚

I found out about my MMC at what should have been 7.5 weeks (no growth since 5). Had to have a D&C as my body wouldn’t let go. That was back in mid-April.

I’ve had one period since then and it now looks like I’m pregnant again! Can’t believe we’ve been so luckily to fall again so quickly.

Got a vfl yesterday at 10dpo and the line is a bit darker today at 11dpo. Pic attached has 11dpo at the top and 10dpo bottom. What a shock when I saw that line!

Anyway, I’m already feeling nervous about everything so I thought I’d make a space for people in a similar position to join. Maybe we can help to calm each others’ nerves a bit šŸ’œ

Update ladies:

I called EPU and it was the same nurse who'd been on shift when I had my scan in April confirming MMC and she'd been on shift on the ward after I had my surgical evacuation. So that was really nice to have someone that knows me and my history. She reassured me that spotting and cramping in early pregnancy can be very normal and has booked me for a scan on Thursday 4th July. It's going to be a long week and a half! But delighted to have it in the diary.

How's everyone today? Xx

I'm just really worried I've got no symptoms... But unfortunately nothing that can be done ATM. I'm dpo 19 today

CosmicLove · 24/06/2024 10:01

@Lemonbalm8 try not to worry (easier said than done I know!). With my DD I didn't have anything noticeable until the nausea started at 6 weeks. Everything is happening at a cellular level so it's super common to have nothing at this early stage xx

Yes I know, just woke up so negative!

I have my scan booked on 5th July. Wondering if I should delay to 8th July, as I'll be 6+5 then, instead of 6+2. I hope there will be a heartbeat šŸ¤žšŸ»

CosmicLove · 24/06/2024 10:44

@Lemonbalm8 I think the closer you are to 7 weeks, the better as there's more chance of seeing the heartbeat. Before I had my MMC in April I saw so many other women on my thread who were having super early reassurance scans and it really did the opposite - it just intensified their anxieties as there was often not much to see. Totally up to you of course but I always said to myself that when I fell pregnant again, I would book a scan for around 7-8 weeks. I'll be 5+6 for my EPU scan next week and I'm sure although it'll be reassuring to (hopefully) see I'm actually pregnant and it's in the right place, I bet I'll have a whole bunch of new anxieties when I leave! Xx

Yes I think you're right. I've been relatively calm this time around (maybe I'm not expecting a lot or guarding myself), and I wouldn't want to add anxiety. Of course, anything going wrong will still break my heart, but I feel stronger and more able to deal this time around. I'll definitely push back to 6+5 and hope it'll give me that reassurance. All my losses were before heartbeat, and while I know that seeing a heartbeat is not a guarantee, it will be a big milestone for me.
Thank you for support and hope for the best for us! I'm sure just knowing the pregnancy is in the right place can also help, I know with spotting it's a good idea to rule out anything šŸ’š

CosmicLove · 24/06/2024 12:18

@Lemonbalm8 I'm exactly the same. Almost expecting it won't work out. Pregnancy loss just changes you I think. I don't have the same naĆÆve excitement I had last time (MMC) or the time before (DD). Hoping for the best for us all too! It's going to be a nerve wracking few weeks ahead ā¤ļø

purplecolouroffunk · 24/06/2024 13:34

@CosmicLove your line is looking so dark today!! Great news 😊 How is your spotting today?

That’s great that they’ve given you a date for a scan. Hopefully that will reassure you at the very least that everything is in the right place. What a wait for you though šŸ’œ

I feel super guarded this time too. Last time I was so excited cause just assumed nothing would go wrong. I’d basically mentally marked out the whole year and how many weeks etc. I’d be for events and stuff. This time I’m intentionally leaving all of that blurry in my head. I miss being excited though šŸ˜ž

@Lemonbalm8 glad to hear you have a scan booked too! Waiting til 6+5 definitely sounds like a good idea since you’re more likely to see a bit more.

I’m thinking I might give the EPU a call tomorrow and explain that I had spotting 4-10dpo, just to see what they think. Suspect they’ll only have me in for a scan if there’s more spotting, but might settle my mind about the earlier spotting somewhat.

@CosmicLove - your line is looking great! Keeping my fingers crossed the spotting fully stops, although I don’t think it’s anything to worry about as it’s such a common thing in pregnancy especially around week 4/5, although I know that’s easier said than done.

@Lemonbalm8 try not to worry about lack of symptoms. In all my previous pregnancies I’ve never had anything really tangible until week 6+, and even then with the pregnancy that resulted in DS I had basically zero symptoms at all - just tiredness and slight food aversions for 1 week. The misscarriage pregnancy generated way worse symptoms even after the baby had passed so symptoms don’t tell you much.

I feel the same around feeling quite numb towards this pregnancy, although occasionally get the odd flash of excitement and have to instantly reign myself in. In all my previous pregnancies I’ve always been desp for that first scan, but this time around Im dreading it so am def going to hold off until at least 6.5-7 weeks. I have such horrid flashbacks of the last time when I knew it had gone wrong and can’t bear the idea of it happening again. Def don’t feel like I’m any better prepared this time around for bad news 😐

torturedpoet13 · 24/06/2024 15:01

I'd love to join this thread please! Me and Dh started TTC in Nov 22 and have had 4 losses. At mc at 5 weeks, MMC at 12 weeks, blighted ovum at 7 weeks& another mc at 6 weeks (last one in January) I got my BFP last Wednesday and absolutely praying this is the one that sticks. I've been taking aspirin 150g daily (willing to try anything) and waiting on the midwife to see if they will give me progesterone, they wouldn't last time. Hoping this is it for all of us! These are the first tests I took (top) and then tests I took today, so they are looking a bit darker :)

Welcome @torturedpoet13 so sad to read your story. What a difficult time you and DH have had. I'm so sorry for your losses. Keeping everything crossed that this is the one! Your latest test is looking really dark so that's got to be a good sign ✨xx

Still spotting (brown today so far) but still super light. Not even needing a liner. Just a little each time I wipe. EPU weren't overly concerned but I hope it resolves itself soon šŸ™

torturedpoet13 · 24/06/2024 15:24

@CosmicLove thank you! I've just scrolled and seen your lines too. Deffo getting darker. What dpo are you?

Do you normally spot before AF?

I think around 17dpo but I'm not exactly sure as wasn't tracking. Af was due Friday so I'm 4+3. How about you? Xx

That is reassuring to know you had success with no/little symptoms šŸ’š no symptoms is completely new to me.

I was due to start IVF with PGT in July, when I got the news. I guess it's my last "natural" attempt and I really hope it works out šŸ¤žšŸ»

How did hcg tests go by the way?

Do you normally spot before AF?

Yes I do! I always spot from about 5-7dpo usually right up until AF arrives. So I’m wondering (and hoping) if my body started doing that as usual but this time was like ā€˜oh hold on we’re pregnant’ and the spotting spotted.

In my last pregnancy the spotting never stopped. I had a pretty red bleed at 9/10dpo and when I had my scan they said there was a bruise at the side of the yolk sac, so I’ve always wondered if I had a bit of a rough implantation. Fingers crossed that’s not the case this time!

That doesn’t sound too bad at all! Maybe you’re like me and your body is adjusting to the hormones and figuring out what’s going on, so your spotting is stopping.

Do you usually spot in run up to AF?

OP posts:
CosmicLove · 24/06/2024 16:28

@purplecolouroffunk no I don't. I've actually never spotted before (apart from years ago when I had the depo injection). I always have a really predictable, regular cycle and I never had any spotting in my successful pregnancy or my unsuccessful pregnancy. Who knows! I'm trying to tell myself reassuring things and hope it doesn't get any worse. Roll on 4th July šŸ˜… xx

purplecolouroffunk · 24/06/2024 16:43

@CosmicLove interesting! Bodies are so weird šŸ˜‚ Maybe it’s been some sort of prolonged implantation bleeding for you.

Let’s hope 4th July comes fast! Same day as the bloody election šŸ˜‚
