BFP after recent loss

Hello!

I know there are quite a few threads like this, but thought I’d start a new one for those of us going through this just now šŸ™‚

I found out about my MMC at what should have been 7.5 weeks (no growth since 5). Had to have a D&C as my body wouldn’t let go. That was back in mid-April.

I’ve had one period since then and it now looks like I’m pregnant again! Can’t believe we’ve been so luckily to fall again so quickly.

Got a vfl yesterday at 10dpo and the line is a bit darker today at 11dpo. Pic attached has 11dpo at the top and 10dpo bottom. What a shock when I saw that line!

Anyway, I’m already feeling nervous about everything so I thought I’d make a space for people in a similar position to join. Maybe we can help to calm each others’ nerves a bit šŸ’œ

@MrsB2019x thank you! Feeling a little bit reassured but it's so hard to stay positive. How are you doing? Xx

Lemonbalm8 · 23/06/2024 09:17

MrsB2019x · 23/06/2024 08:06

@Lemonbalm8 I have zero symptoms too, no sore boobs, nothing! It’s making me pretty anxious too. I’m stopping line progression too now. Just got a digital left to hopefully get my 3+ next week. How many weeks are you?

I'm 4+4 today or 18 dpo šŸ‘‹šŸ»
I'm on progesterone and have no symptoms. I think I have one digital left but I will probably wait another week to take it.

purplecolouroffunk · 23/06/2024 11:36

Welcome @Lemonbalm8! I’m so sorry to hear about your previous losses, but very happy to have you here šŸ™‚ It’s such an anxious time isn’t it? So hard flitting between so many feelings. I’m 4+1 (15dpo) and I’ve really not had any symptoms either. All I’ve had are some sort of shooting pains in my nipples. It’s disconcerting but hopefully (or not!) symptoms will start soon.

@CosmicLove that line is looking great today! Definitely darker. And I’m glad to hear about your spotting slowing down.

@purplecolouroffunk thank you lovely. Me too! Let's hope it stays slowed down! Hope all is good with you and you've enjoyed your weekend away šŸ’œ

Persipan · 23/06/2024 13:15

Keeping everything crossed for you, @CosmicLove! I distinctly remember that when I was pregnant with my son I had some spotting and was absolutely convinced it was all over, and in fact everything was fine.

It being my OTD I am now officially up the duff, as opposed to unofficially so - I'll give my clinic a ring in the morning to see when they propose doing a scan. Probably in a couple of weeks, I imagine.

CosmicLove · 23/06/2024 17:56

@Persipan thank you and nice to see you over here! That's very reassuring about your pregnancy with your son. I've been having a tiny bit of brown spotting again today, just very light when I wipe so hopefully not a bad sign. Still having some cramps though ā˜¹ļø Keeping everything crossed šŸ¤ž congratulations on your official BFP! ā¤ļø

MrsB2019x · 23/06/2024 19:18

@Lemonbalm8 We’re (hopefully!) due date buddies, I’m 4+4 and 18dpo too 😁

@Persipan Congrats on your official BFP! Will your clinic do HCG draws or just early scans?

@CosmicLove Hopefully the cramping is just everything stretching around making lots of room šŸ¤ž

@purplecolouroffunk Hope you had a nice weekend away! Are you planning on testing again tomorrow?

I'm also spotting. Are you taking any progesterone?

CosmicLove · 23/06/2024 20:16

@Lemonbalm8 no I'm not - are you taking it? When I had my MMC in April, I asked my EPU about progesterone and they said they'd only consider it after 3 MCs. Maybe the guidance changes if the woman is spotting though? I'm going to call them tomorrow. How long have you been spotting for and what's it like? Xx

Savingformat · 23/06/2024 20:28

Evening ladies, I’m just catching up.

@CosmicLove how are you doing lovely? I’m sorry you’re bleeding, but your line progression does look good. I can only speak from my experience, but my lines got lighter before the bleeds. My friend bled heavy during her first trimester and her baby boy was absolutely fine.

im now 5+2 I think. That’s +2 days more than when I had my chemical, just feel this is the worst time as you can’t get a scan or any reassurance! Xx

Persipan · 23/06/2024 20:58

@MrsB2019x I'm sure they would do blood tests if I wanted to pay them for the privilege but they don't include them as standard and my clinic is a £40 train ride away which does rather add to the cost. If I get wobbly I might go mad and spend the £110 it'd cost to do them through medichecks (which would certainly work out cheaper when you factor in the train and the inevitable stops to eat interesting things on the way there and back...)

Thank you for checking in lovely. I'm doing okay - spotting has started up again this afternoon. Firstly brown and now a bit more pink but still very light. I'm hoping for another darker test tomorrow to ease my anxiety a little bit!

That's great that you're 5+2 - it's a big deal to be past that 5 week mark and overtaken where you were last time. Hopefully will just continue this way for you and all will be well ā¤ļø

I was going to say if you're taking it, it can cause spotting. I have been spotting for 4 days now, brown and pink. I don't think spotting is a cause for alarm, I've had it with successful pregnancy

Progesterone is not harmful and can help. What dpo are you? I think epu can prescribe it.

I'm tempted to get a scan at 5-6 weeks. I am not sure what I'm looking for šŸ™ˆ but I'm aware there is nothing to reassure me. Maybe only a heartbeat.

I wouldn't do 5 weeks, it's unlikely to be at all reassuring. Hold off until a bit later if you can, for the best chance of them being able to see a heartbeat. At least 6 weeks, but better 7. Which I know is easier said than done!

MrsB2019x · 23/06/2024 22:44

@Lemonbalm8 For reference this is my 5+2 scan with DD and you could only see the yolk sac, which is fine if you just want reassurance that baby is in the right place but if you want a chance of seeing the heartbeat you’re better off waiting closer to 7 weeks

CosmicLove · 23/06/2024 22:53

@Lemonbalm8 that's good to know about progesterone. I will definitely ask about it when I call EPU tomorrow. Maybe they'll think I'm a candidate for it too. I'm not sure how many dpo I am exactly as I wasn't tracking but if it was day 14 of my 28 day cycle, I'd be 16dpo now. Or 4+2. It's so reassuring to hear stories of women who've had spotting and had healthy pregnancies! šŸ™

purplecolouroffunk · 23/06/2024 23:01

@MrsB2019x think I’ll definitely do a test when we’re back tomorrow evening just to see how the line is looking.

@Persipan yay exciting about your official BFP!

@CosmicLove so glad your bleeding is still light!

@Lemonbalm8 can only hope it’s still a bit too early for symptoms and they’re yet to come! I have been feeling a bit more tired than usual this weekend and nipples are really quite tender.

We’ve had a lovely time in London! Heading back home tomorrow afternoon. Definitely been a good distraction. Hoping my line is looking good when I get back!

Morning ladies,
I think my line is darker again this morning which is such a relief to see, when the spotting is continuing. Still super light but in my two other pregnancies (healthy one which resulted in my 18mo DD and the one that ended in MMC) I've never had any spotting so it's definitely worrying me! Calling EPU this morning so will update again later. It's good to have you all to talk to when nobody other than DP knows irl! Xx

Update ladies:

I called EPU and it was the same nurse who'd been on shift when I had my scan in April confirming MMC and she'd been on shift on the ward after I had my surgical evacuation. So that was really nice to have someone that knows me and my history. She reassured me that spotting and cramping in early pregnancy can be very normal and has booked me for a scan on Thursday 4th July. It's going to be a long week and a half! But delighted to have it in the diary.

How's everyone today? Xx
