Hello!

I know there are quite a few threads like this, but thought I’d start a new one for those of us going through this just now šŸ™‚

I found out about my MMC at what should have been 7.5 weeks (no growth since 5). Had to have a D&C as my body wouldn’t let go. That was back in mid-April.

I’ve had one period since then and it now looks like I’m pregnant again! Can’t believe we’ve been so luckily to fall again so quickly.

Got a vfl yesterday at 10dpo and the line is a bit darker today at 11dpo. Pic attached has 11dpo at the top and 10dpo bottom. What a shock when I saw that line!

Anyway, I’m already feeling nervous about everything so I thought I’d make a space for people in a similar position to join. Maybe we can help to calm each others’ nerves a bit šŸ’œ

Thanks lovely. Objectively I don't think mine is that bad either but I’m such a wimp when it comes to nausea/sickness, always have been 😩
Iced drinks sound heavenly šŸ˜ might stock up on some ice for the freezer
I’m 8+5 today, I’ve had the last week off work (annual leave), not looking forward to going back tomorrow! If nothing else, me being nauseous and the major progesterone bloat is gonna make everyone guess. Before I went off my manager kindly told me it looked like I was having twins šŸ˜‚

I'm 8+5 too. I went into office last week and someone actually asked me if I'm pregnant. Kid you not, I am a bit annoyed that she put me on the spot!! The other person next to her was so uncomfortable with her asking me that šŸ˜‚

I've been having loads of fizzy drinks with ice. I haven't been drinking tea or coffee, but feel bad that I'm overdoing it on the caffeine. I've tried sparking water and it's not got the same effect as sprite/coke.

I would still go to the GP, I have fear of vomiting (it is not a real phobia but I've only vomited a handful of times in my life because of it), so I completely understand you.

CosmicLove · 22/07/2024 09:22

@Lemonbalm8 I don't think Sprite has any caffeine in it, if that helps to reassure you you're not overdoing the caffeine. You can also get caffeine free coke but no idea if it tastes the same or not! Xx

CosmicLove · 22/07/2024 09:31

I'm hardly having any nausea at all. A little in the morning that passes when I have some OJ and then the occasional wave throughout the day but it's barely affecting my eating. So different from my pregnancy with my daughter where I was so nauseous and couldn't face meat, fish, eggs etc for the whole of the first trimester. I've been reassured by those of you who also have minimal nausea and have had healthy scans so fingers crossed it's not an omen for me. I've read quite a lot online about less nausea being indicative of a boy - probably BS but will hopefully see soon!

Thanks Cosmic. It ramped up for me on the weekend. It is indeed very different to pregnancy with my son. With him I also didn't have bad nausea but definitely more than now and for longer, it started at week 6. Now I'm nearly week 9. I guess I'm just surprised that pregnancies can be so different. I've heard it often but didn't believe it!

CosmicLove · 22/07/2024 10:37

@Lemonbalm8 yes I've heard other women say it too but didn't fully get it either! I'm feeling shockingly good for this stage. My nausea with DD was awful solidly from 6-13 weeks. Guess if everything is actually okay, I should just enjoy it!

torturedpoet13 · 22/07/2024 11:18

Thanks everyone for the love! I phoned in sick yesterday and put in a sick note for today, I'm planning on 2 weeks off plus 1 weeks holiday I have! I feel bad but I don't know why! My sickness been quite bad today I've been up since 7.30am being sick but I've managed to eat half a shortbread & some coke. I just feel constantly dizzy 🤢

@Lemonbalm8 good luck for you scan today ā¤ļø

Does anyone else feel normal with hardly any symptoms? I’m stressing nearly 10 weeks and no changes

Persipan · 22/07/2024 12:15

Bollocks, bollocks, shit shit shit.

So, last time I was pregnant, my lovely, lovely colleague had pretty much the same dates as me (although I hadn't told anyone at the time that I was pregnant too) and then had a MMC, which was awful for her, and I spent ages worrying about how I could be a respectful pregnant person around her and then in fact I had a miscarriage too.

Fast forward to now and I've been having that same worry about, ok, if this pregnancy continues and all goes well and I tell people about it then I'll want to be so respectful of what she needs... Just learned she's having another loss. Fuck the universe. It's the shittest thing for her. So now I'm fundamentally expecting the same thing to happen again, and if somehow it doesn't then I'll basically just be a horrible reminder for her the whole time.

Rockyslife · 22/07/2024 11:20

Yep, barely had any changes or symptoms at all and I'm 9+1. It's been very difficult not to get consumed by anxiety, but I've been telling myself that plenty of people suffer terrible symptoms and still have sad outcomes, so I just feel lucky to not be suffering too badly with sickness and nausea.

@Persipan I've had two back to back losses and, yes, seeing other people announce their pregnancies hurt, but it was never a case of feeling like they'd done it to slight me. I knew it was all just chance, and for them it worked out. It's just life. It sucks and it's stressful and traumatic, but I don't expect other people to minimise their joy because of my losses. You seem like a lovely friend in being so concerned. I'd say, when you're ready and it's been a while for her, let her know privately over text or in a way where she doesn't have to mask her feelings. You can't do much more than that.

Lemonbalm8 · 22/07/2024 15:12

Good scan from my side, it was abdominal this time, so just saw a fuzzy outline. But I could see beginnings of nose and jaw, and the baby was doing situps and swimming from one side of the sac to another 🄰

CosmicLove · 22/07/2024 15:20

Amazing news @Lemonbalm8 šŸ’› delighted for you that all is going so well xx

jellyfish2 · 22/07/2024 15:28

Omg what did you say to her?! That’s awful to ask outright like that!

I wouldn’t worry too much about the caffeine tbh, you have to fuel yourself with whatever you can tolerate at the moment. I’m still on the fizzy as it helps me feel a bit less out of it.

Congratulations on your scan too that’s amazing news 🄰

MrsB2019x · 22/07/2024 19:54

Had a right mare with my booking appointment today and it genuinely made me quite annoyed but I think that’s mainly because I’m a mardy cow even on a good day atm šŸ˜‚ sorry it’s long!!!

A midwife text me on Friday asking for me to come in for a booking appt at 12 tomorrow. I explained I am in a meeting with a service user at work so couldn’t, but gave her availability of other days this week. She said she’s works on call shifts so I wouldn’t know until the morning. I told her that’s less than ideal because I work and would have to arrange childcare on other days but I could do this morning as I’m not working. She said she’d let me know.
I chased her at 10 as I still hadn’t heard anything and she asked me to come in for 1:00. I reminded her I could only do the morning and asked for appts to be made in advance because of work/childcare etc. She gave me 7th August..?! I said I was worried as I’d be 11 weeks by then. She came back and said oh I thought you’d only be 9, what’s your due date? I told her and apparently my due date is wrong on their system so she is going to have to pass me back to the booking team to get someone to see me sooner. Wtf?! I don’t want to get lost in the system like this šŸ˜” I know in my area you have to attend your booking appt for your 12 week scan date to be triggered so it’s making me pretty anxious!

Oh gosh, this is stressful. Sounds like they will set you up with earlier appt soon, they can't just disappear for another 2 weeks!
Do you have the midwife mobile? You can always chase up with her and get some answers. Or even epu?
How was your nausea today?

I hope they do, if I don’t hear by the end of the week I’ll chase them cos I can’t just drop everything to go 🄓
Yeah I have her mobile, we were having all this via text this morning but as she can’t see me I don’t think she’ll be anything to do with me now šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø
Nausea wasn’t great, really struggled this morning, struggled at lunchtime but it’s got better in the evening.
Are you waiting til your 12 week scan now or do you think you’ll have another?

purplecolouroffunk · 22/07/2024 21:39

@Lemonbalm8 so so happy to hear about your scan! That’s just fantastic news šŸ’œšŸ’œ I also can’t believe that person asked you if you’re pregnant?! That’s so rude even if you are or aren’t!!

@KittyFantastica I think the scan pics totally depend on the equipment and the sonographer! Some of ours were pretty blurry/lumpy and were able to choose the best one with it being private. Yours almost looks like a little bat, and is really cute!

@Persipan oh no that’s so tough, I’m sorry you’re having to go through that. Your poor colleague. I would echo what others have said and just let her know gently at some point. You’re a good friend!

@Rockyslife I feel pretty normal to be honest! I think today is the worst I’ve felt. So tired, feeling sick, banging headache, bloated. But other than today everything has been so mild! It’s a strange feeling when you hear about poor women who really suffer. I expected that!

@MrsB2019x ahh what a faff for you?! That’s so annoying. Really hope you’re able to get something sorted before 11 weeks 😣

I had my booking appointment today and things definitely feel a bit more real!

I forgot to answer your question about my colleague. I had to tell her I'm pregnant as I can't lie, but if anything happens I have to tell her again, and the annoying bit is I'm not even a tiny bit close to her. Today my son's nursery manager asked me if I'm pregnant in front of other parents, it's becoming really frustrating. I just want to safely get to my 12 week scan without having to track people I have to notify in case it goes wrong. Hopefully all goes well and that never happens.

I've booked another scan for end of next week, with NIPT šŸ¤žšŸ» never done nipt before, hopefully it is reassuring

Those who had their booking appointment, how long did it take? Just wondering how much of the morning I should take off from work.

Haven't had mine yet but the appointment is definitely booked in to take over an hour because they put in a second appointment after that for bloods/height/weight stuff. So it can go on a bit.

On the being asked if you're pregnant front: if you don't feel you can lie, but don't want to answer, consider a non-answer response. Staring at the person and saying 'sorry, what?', or 'that's a really inappropriate question' or whatever, and they'll almost certainly back off. You'll have to summon a bit of righteous indignation, though!

I don’t know how people have the front to ask 😳 Imagine if you weren’t!!!

Re the booking appt, my one with my last pregnancy was about an hour. If you have more risk factors to talk about I’d allow a bit longer
