BFP after recent loss

Hello!

I know there are quite a few threads like this, but thought I’d start a new one for those of us going through this just now šŸ™‚

I found out about my MMC at what should have been 7.5 weeks (no growth since 5). Had to have a D&C as my body wouldn’t let go. That was back in mid-April.

I’ve had one period since then and it now looks like I’m pregnant again! Can’t believe we’ve been so luckily to fall again so quickly.

Got a vfl yesterday at 10dpo and the line is a bit darker today at 11dpo. Pic attached has 11dpo at the top and 10dpo bottom. What a shock when I saw that line!

Anyway, I’m already feeling nervous about everything so I thought I’d make a space for people in a similar position to join. Maybe we can help to calm each others’ nerves a bit šŸ’œ

Weird thought ladies. I started spotting just after BFP on 20th June, period due 21st June. Then I started spotting again last night, next period would've been due today. Has anyone ever heard of women spotting each month in early pregnancy when their period would have been due? I feel I've heard that somewhere in the past but can't find anything online about it. May of course be BS though and I'm probably just clutching at straws šŸ¤”

I think it's more likely sch but I have had similar thoughts. Even during when ovulation is supposed to happen, I am getting much more cm. I've not a clue if that's normal.
Brown should be ok, I was getting quite a lot of brown with my son for like 10 days and even they didn't find any sch, so it can be normal.

I've also seen this, too when I've been searching... also possible ā¤ļø

Thank you @jellyfish2 and @Beks96 ā¤ļø I'm sorry you've had some spotting too Beks. It really just puts you right back in that place of distress each time you see it doesn't it. Things were feeling a bit wet when we were out for dinner last night and I went to the toilet hoping it was just increased cm but fearing the worst, and it was brown. I just wish things could be straightforward.

My first pregnancy with DD was completely uneventful. No spotting, waited for 12 week scan as it wouldn't even have occurred to me to have an early one. It's so cruel that the pregnancy after loss is full of all the anxieties I've picked up from the MMC and is having these extra complications like bleeding and spotting. It just compounds the worry.

I wish so much things were straight forward too, I have so much envy of some of the people I went to school with just sailing through popping babies out, or so it seems. It is probably all just social media and how things appear.

My experience has just zapped all of the joy out of it completely. My coping mechanism at the minute is to forget about it as much as I can.

My Nan had 2 miscarriages very close together between my mum and my uncle, and she had no idea what was going on. I can't imagine what it must have been like without the internet, her experience must have been so different to today.

CosmicLove · 19/07/2024 09:52

Thank you @Lemonbalm8 I really hope it's nothing. It's still settled a bit for now but the fear of it ramping up again never goes away. I have a scan on Thursday which can't come quickly enough. Certainly has put a blight on the holiday 😢

I know exactly what you mean @Beks96 you see all these people with apparently easy pregnancies and never experiencing loss. I never thought I would be in this situation. It changes you and it's something you wish you'd never had to suffer - as you say it sucks all the joy out of what should be something wonderful. My grandma also had a MC before my dad was born so that would've been early 50s. It's unimaginable how difficult it would've been back then with hardly any understanding or education about that kind of thing. And no scans! How stressful xx

Haven’t had much time to log on here over the last few days as my little boy was sick and off nursery. Always such great timing as I’ve had to juggle that with trying to get everything boxed off at work as we’re off for two weeks now. Hoping o can leave some of the crippling anxiety at home so I can I enjoy the break.

Feel like there’s a lot to catch up on over the lasT few days. @Rockyslife congrats on your scan, must be such a relief. I know it’s been discussed on here before but I really like the mantra today I am pregnant and letting that lead the day.

I had a scan this morning at 8+1 and everything still seems ok, measuring 1 day ahead and heart rate of 168. Was terrified going in as went back to the private scan place where we found our MMC and it was the same lady too. She was very nice though and found the heartbeat quickly for us, Gestational sac was much bigger this time so I feel better about that as that caused me so much stress this last week - eugh the curse of google. I’ve come off Reddit this week too as all the miscarriage stories are so triggering and it’s massively helped my mental state. Def don’t feel even close to out of the woods yet.

Hope everyone is doing ok? Who else has scans this week? I feel like there were a few planned šŸ¤žšŸ»šŸ€

Huge congratulations @Bubbles19818 on your wonderful scan news. So great for you to have that reassurance right before going away. Hope it eases your worries for now and you can enjoy a lovely break 🩷

I feel like I've heard this too! With my previous two pregnancies I had rusty brown spotting in my underwear around the time my period was due. I just got my bfp both times. Has it stopped now?

jellyfish2 · 19/07/2024 12:53

@Bubbles19818 that's great everything is looking good 🄰

I’ve definitely heard of this too! I’m sure I’ve heard it referred to as breakthrough bleeding. I think that technically refers to when your period is due for the first time, but I’ve definitely read about it happening for subsequent periods too!

I hope you’re doing okay today šŸ’œ If your bleeding is light/pink/brown I’d try not to worry too much if you can. Easier said than done though I know!

@Persipan me too on the LMP dates! For this pregnancy I just moved my dates forward to put them in line with a CD19 ovulation. Seems to be timing up so far. I couldn’t stand the fear of being told I was behind again when I actually wasn’t.

@Bubbles19818 this is fantastic news!! So so happy for you and what a lovely scan photo šŸ˜ŠšŸ˜ŠšŸ’œ

I have a private scan on Sunday for when I should be 8+1 too 😊

@Bubbles19818 amazing news! I bet you feel relieved!!! I know it doesn't take away the anxiety fully to be past a certain point, but hopefully it makes it a bit more real that this time might be good. If the measurements are good, that's a really good sign. I also had a heartbeat at 167 last time šŸ˜€ sorry to hear about your little boy being sick, hope he gets better soon and it's great that you're going on holiday, very well deserved after such a stressful month!

Lemonbalm8 · 19/07/2024 14:43

@CosmicLove my bleeding also settled for 2-3 days but I'm terrified of going into the bathroom each time. It should be ok though, the main thing is it settles. When is your next scan? I have mine next Monday, as I got a bit stressed this week earlier but I think if all looks ok on Monday, I'm going to book my nipt scan/test for the end of week after.

CosmicLove · 19/07/2024 16:12

Thank you @jellyfish2 @purplecolouroffunk @Lemonbalm8 it's very very light but still there. I've got a liner in and nothing on that. Not even there when I wipe but just if I press tissue paper I get a small pink brown spot. Gutted I can't swim with DD as she's loving the pool! I'm very relieved it doesn't seem to be worsening as of yet and just praying it stays this light or goes away!

@Lemonbalm8 my next scan is Thursday first thing. Is yours a week on Monday then, as in 29th? That's the day of my booking appointment. Is anyone else doing private nipt? I think I'm just going to wait for nhs, hoping I get that far šŸ™ xx

jellyfish2 · 19/07/2024 16:15

@CosmicLove glad it's settled for you. I hope that's it!! It's such a worrying time anyway without having bleeding. It's good you have a scan next week too.
With my son I didn't even eat any of the tests done but think I will this time but just through NHS.

I feel like the nausea is starting now, have that sicky feeling on and off today for the first time at 5+3.

purplecolouroffunk · 19/07/2024 18:47

@CosmicLove that’s great that it’s light. I’ll bet it’s a hormonal/cycle thing. Bodies are so weird.

As a (hopefully) first-time mum to be, I’m having a wobble about what it’ll be like actually having a baby/raising a child. New anxiety now šŸ˜‚ We’re so ready for it and I know it’s an incredible experience, but life is just going to be so different and it scares me a bit!

Any other first-time mums feeling like that? Or any current mums have any words of wisdom? šŸ’œ

@purplecolouroffunk I don't think I really thought about it like that beforehand but what I will say is I wish I had because your world completely changes and it's no longer about you. It's all about looking after this little baby. When I first got home I had the baby blues and kept crying, just completely overwhelmed. I struggled breastfeeding in the beginning too which was stressful but we eventually found our way and although it is all consuming and challenging it changes your life for the better. I can't imagine not having my wee boy, as much as he drives me round the bend, the love I have for him is crazy. I just want to squish him every time I cuddle him and I'm always kissing him all over his face etc and he pushes me away šŸ˜‚ although he's such a mummy's boy and comes for kisses and cuddles too 🄰 it really is amazing and when you think how you and your other half produced this little being, it's mind blowing. Producing babies really are miracles I think. Don't be scared, you'll smash it 🩷

I think it’s good you’re having those expectations now because like @jellyfish2 said, your life really does change in an instant (for the better!) but you are put on the back burner from the get go. I was prepared for it and managed quite well in that respect, my husband didn’t as much, he knew he would always come second after baby but I think the reality of it hit harder than he thought it would. It’s not a doom and gloom thing but it’s better to be prepared!
Don't get me wrong there were many times when DD was 6-8 weeks old that I would have happily sold her to the circus but motherhood is the most amazing thing and I wouldn’t change her for anything!

MrsB2019x · 19/07/2024 19:58

Anyone else being downright mardy?
I am SO irritable today. I think cos my sleep is so disrupted, I’m waking up multiple times a night, but I have been such a grump all day šŸ˜‚

jellyfish2 · 20/07/2024 07:28

I wanted to do one digital clear blue test and I've kept it until when I hoped I'd get a 3+ which I got this morning 🄰

I have no words of wisdom, feel like I was not prepared for anything after birth, while the thing I was most worried about, the actual birth, went really positively and that seems quite difficult to know ahead of time. The only practical thing I should have done much earlier on is to get childcare sorted, but I guess that may not be top of mind now, with all the house sales. I will definitely put myself on nursery wait-list at 12 weeks as round here it literally takes a year or most likely two to get there.

Sorry forgot to add, is anyone also uncomfortably bloated? My biokult was keeping constipation at bay, but it seems to not work as well now?! The evening bloat is mega, and I'm not even eating massively

Mommabear96 · 20/07/2024 10:44

@Lemonbalm8 yeah I’ve had lower back cramping on and off occasionally it’s totally normal😊

I’ve also been mega bloated, kinda round though. Last night I looked like I had a 6month bump! But this morning only looking about 4 months pregnant aha😩😩 I’m 7w2d lol.

Also got the dreaded constipation, in my 1st pregnancy I ate bananas which helped but now the thought of a banana makes me wanna puke🤢 nausea is really ramping up, feel sick on and off allll day now, with vomiting every morning 7-9am😭😭 found mints to really help with it though! Xx
