Hello!

I know there are quite a few threads like this, but thought I’d start a new one for those of us going through this just now šŸ™‚

I found out about my MMC at what should have been 7.5 weeks (no growth since 5). Had to have a D&C as my body wouldn’t let go. That was back in mid-April.

I’ve had one period since then and it now looks like I’m pregnant again! Can’t believe we’ve been so luckily to fall again so quickly.

Got a vfl yesterday at 10dpo and the line is a bit darker today at 11dpo. Pic attached has 11dpo at the top and 10dpo bottom. What a shock when I saw that line!

Anyway, I’m already feeling nervous about everything so I thought I’d make a space for people in a similar position to join. Maybe we can help to calm each others’ nerves a bit šŸ’œ

@purplecolouroffunk totally understand you. When I was pregnant with my 1st I was super nervous as although he was planned we felt so underprepared!
before having our baby, my partner and I had never even changed a nappy before and had basically no experience at all around babies! But honestly it all just comes so naturally!
you’ll be fab🄰🄰

CosmicLove · 20/07/2024 10:51

@Lemonbalm8 that's great to have another scan on Monday and then another one so soon after. Hopefully that will keep the worry at bay for now and then you're all the closer to end of first trimester.

@jellyfish2 congratulations on your 3+ clear blue! Very reassuring 🄰

@purplecolouroffunk the main piece of practical advice I would give is to try and get any niggling jobs done as soon as possible. That cupboard you've been meaning to sort, the bathroom you've been meaning to decorate - that sort of thing. As I got bigger I found it harder to do things and then when baby came, I had no time or interest in doing those sorts of jobs. It will be harder for you as you're moving during pregnancy (we did that too) but I would highly recommend getting as much done as possible before baby arrives. Future you will be so grateful!

Question ladies - what would everyone's approach be to swimming? My spotting is super light - just a tiny bit of light brown discharge if I press the tissue paper. Would anyone else swim like this? I'm not at the moment but keen to get opinions. Or if it goes, do you think I'm okay to swim again? Thanks in advance xx

I see no reason at all why you can't swim if you want to.

Bubbles19818 · 20/07/2024 12:36

@purplecolouroffunk you’ve had some amazing advice already so not sure how much I can add. It is totally life changing and in my experience you can’t really prepare for it aside from knowing your life is never going to be the same again but in a totally amazing way. The thing I found the hardest and just wasn’t prepared for although knew was coming was the sleep deprivation in those first few weeks mixed in with the baby blues. I think I spent most of the first 6 weeks in tears and I hated how the GP kept telling me I had postnatal depression because it lasted longer than the ā€˜2 weeks’ all the books talk about. From chatting to other mums and friends I think everyone experiences postpartum differently and responds to the change of hormones differently and I wish I’d know that rather than stressing I was becoming depressed and worrying how I was going to cope. I also wasn’t prepared for the night sweats in those first few weeks. They are wild šŸ˜‚

Bubbles19818 · 20/07/2024 12:42

@CosmicLove I would def swim with light spotting

Lemonbalm8 · 20/07/2024 13:52

Mommabear96 · 20/07/2024 10:44

@Lemonbalm8 yeah I’ve had lower back cramping on and off occasionally it’s totally normal😊

I’ve also been mega bloated, kinda round though. Last night I looked like I had a 6month bump! But this morning only looking about 4 months pregnant aha😩😩 I’m 7w2d lol.

Also got the dreaded constipation, in my 1st pregnancy I ate bananas which helped but now the thought of a banana makes me wanna puke🤢 nausea is really ramping up, feel sick on and off allll day now, with vomiting every morning 7-9am😭😭 found mints to really help with it though! Xx

Oh I am so sorry about the nausea and feeling so sick in the mornings.
Yes the bloat is unreal here in the evenings especially. Definitely feel like I'm 6 months pregnant in terms of round belly. I can't remember whether the bloat goes after first trimester. I am going to try symprove and biokult, really need to feel better soon x

I think swimming is the safest thing to do in pregnancy and especially you'd want to enjoy a bit of your holiday!!! The only thing is potential for infections but it sounds like there is almost no spotting, so I'd proceed x

ELJ1502 · 20/07/2024 14:13

Hi everyone, hope you’re all okay. There seems to be some lovely scans happening.

We had our private scan today at what I thought would be around 7 weeks. I was utterly petrified going in - kept having to hold back the tears I was so scared. I explained the situation to the midwife and she was fantastic. The private clinic I chose only does abdominal scans, which I hadn’t realised, but ultimately didn’t matter. She found a strong heartbeat very quickly and showed us straight away. She then explained other parts. I’m measuring around 6 weeks 4 days but she said not to worry about it. Just hearing the words viable pregnancy made me feel a little weight off. Just need to get through to the 12 week scan.

CosmicLove · 20/07/2024 15:34

@ELJ1502 amazing scan news! That must be such a relief to know there's a strong heartbeat. Hold onto that relief! So happy for you ā¤ļø xx

purplecolouroffunk · 20/07/2024 15:45

Thank you everyone šŸ’œ

I think I’m just panicking cause I’m 35, OH and I have been together 7 years, we’re pretty set in our ways, and have a very harmonious relationship. It might sound silly but we just enjoy each others’ company and have a laugh with each other most of the time, and I’m worried that’ll change. I don’t suppose the foundations of our relationship will change though - we’ve been through some tough things together though so I know we’ll make a great team. He’ll be an incredible dad as is a natural carer and worked with kids for years too.

I’ve never changed a nappy before - OH has as has niece/nephew - but we never had any children in our family after me and not many close friends have had kids yet. I’m worried I’ll be a terrible mum!

I think it’s just that thing of oh feck things are never going to be the same again, and we’ll be learning a different way to live. But I guess things will be different in a lovely way and it’s all part of the next stage of our lives!

I hope this doesn’t sound like I don’t want to have a baby, because I absolutely do!! And we’ve carefully planned it etc and really thought about it all. But still, ahhh, it’s all new and scary!

Sorry for inner monologue rant šŸ’œ

Hey everyone! I've been quiet on here the last few days!

It's absolutely lovely to see everyone's scans, congratulations all ā¤ļø hope everyone js doing okay!

I've been absolutely run down with nausea and sickness, I'm 8+2 today and feeling so unwell. The mornings are the worst for actually throwing up but then I'm in a constant state of nausea all day and it's deliberating, I'm not eating much. I'm on tablets off the gp but they aren't helping. I came home from work early today and me and Dh decided I'm going to take a week or 2 off. After 4 losses I'm high risk anyway and I should be chilling not running around like a headless chicken (I work front of house retail!!!) I think I'm going to take time off until my next scan which is 1st august then see how I feel. Worried about work though as they can be quite funny sometimes

That's understandable. Definitely take the time off and don't worry about work, you need to look after yourself.

Definitely take the time off, it must be so hard to be on your feet and in front of people when you're feeling poorly. Looking after yourself is essential now for sure.
Have you talked to your gp about another medication for nausea? Might help to try something else x

I can’t imagine working front of house retail when having full blown sickness and nausea 😢 definitely take some time off. I’d take 2 weeks so then you can have a doctors note. Hope you start to feel better soon xx

MrsB2019x · 20/07/2024 19:19

Brilliant scan news @ELJ1502 šŸ˜ so pleased for you x

Mommabear96 · 20/07/2024 21:50

@torturedpoet13 totally understand how you’re feeling, I’m super nauseous all day and work in a restaurant! It is tortureeeeeešŸ˜©ā˜ ļø

Think it would definitely be a good idea for you to take the week off, put your feet up and hope you feel better!
if you can have a look on the website myrtle and maud they have loads of stuff for morning sickness and pregnancy/labour/pp in general. But they do some fab sickness ā€˜bons bons’ which I get in mint&vit B flavour and they really do help! Xx

KittyFantastica · 21/07/2024 09:04

Lovely news about your scan @ELJ1502 , very happy for you!

@purplecolouroffunk I know exactly what you mean about dynamics. I'm 35, my husband is 37, and we've known each other for 10 years, been together for 6. We have the most amazing friendship and partnership and I do worry how that dynamic will change. We have so much fun together. But this is something we both want and have hopes for, so I trust our ability to work together and enjoy the highs and support each other's lows.

I had my last EPU scan on Friday and it was wonderful. Measuring 8+5 and I was actually 8+5 that day, so amazingly on point. HB was 177 and everything looking good. It's the furthest we've ever got and even told us we've graduated from embryo to foetus. Still nervous going forward, but feeling great for now!

jellyfish2 · 21/07/2024 09:06

@KittyFantastica aww that's great news 🄰 what a relief for you!

CosmicLove · 21/07/2024 09:33

Congratulations @KittyFantastica ā¤ļø that's wonderful news! Best outcome you could hope for and so reassuring xx

purplecolouroffunk · 21/07/2024 10:07

@torturedpoet13 I’m so sorry you’ve been feeling so ill, but really glad too that you’ve been able to take time off work. Definitely make sure to rest up šŸ’œ

@KittyFantastica oh I’m so glad you know what I mean. I was starting to think I sound really ungrateful or something. Just such a big life change, but there’s no one to I’d rather be doing it with and I know we’ll make enjoy the process so much together even though it’ll be hard. We’re definitely ready!

I’ve got my private scan today (8+1). I’ve been feeling okay about it but suddenly really nervous this morning. I just feel like my symptoms have just been so low level that things can’t be good. Even my boobs are a bit less sore. Guess we’ll find out soon.

I’m 8+4 today and that’s when our MMC baby passed away. Got a weird mixture of feelings today and can’t quite make sense of them.
