Continuation from thread 7 over here; https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/pregnancy/5070517-september-2024-thread-7?page=40

Can't believe we filled the last thread up already feels like it wasn't even made that long ago, gosh time is absolutely flying by!!

@WinsandSam - I'll have to ask about CBT for sure, thanks so much for the recommendation - maybe I'll actually get some help seeing as I'm pregnant!

I've been trying to get mental health support for... Well to be honest since teen-hood and realising my daily crying was not in fact "just my period/puberty" as every doctor told me it was (all males ofc, typical 🙄) so I don't hold out much hope if I'm being honest.
I originally wanted to wait until my MH was sorted before ttc, but after over a decade I was running out of fertile time frankly, so here I am still with crazy anxiety and emotional dysregulation, but what can ya do?! 😅

Page 40 | September 2024 - Thread 7! 🐣🧡💛❤️ | Mumsnet

As requested a new thread for us all! 🥰 can't believe its thread 7 already! Then hopefully by thread 14 we'll all have our babies in our arms talkin...

@Xur Fingers crossed you feel better soon, hopefully it’s just hormones and settles down. How nice to have lovely gifts on your last day.

So as if the stress from work wasn’t enough, looks like I need to be rechecked for gestational diabetes as I had high glucose in urine today and was apparently too high to just monitor. I had a GTT test at 23.5 weeks which came back normal, so I’m hoping it’s just a fluke spike from stress and exhaustion recently. Has anyone else had this and things be ok?

Lillers · 17/07/2024 16:08

I love the sun, and am happy it’s finally here. That being said, tomorrow is Sports Day at work (teacher) and that means being out in the sun from 9am-2pm. I’m one of the track timers so actually a proper job (and one I’ve always done and always enjoyed) and in line with my risk assessment have organised to have another colleague and a sixth form student shadow me so I can leave the field for regular breaks. I’ll wear a big hat and have plenty of water. Can anyone think of anything else I might have forgotten to arrange so I survive?!

Lillers · 17/07/2024 16:10

@Khanga27 I don’t have that specific experience, but I do have gestational diabetes, so if you do end up with a positive test feel free to ask for any advice. It’s been an emotionally tough experience and I wouldn’t have had a clue where to start without support from other GD mums!

HRP1990 · 17/07/2024 16:46

@Lillers definitely a hand held fan if you have one!

SC126 · 17/07/2024 17:07

@Lillers a camping chair if you ain’t already sat down.

TripleESept24 · 17/07/2024 17:40

Had my 31 week appointment today (at nearly 32 weeks)

I asked babies position as all my kicks are still very low and she is currently breach. They said they don't worry until 36 weeks........ Anyone else breach at present or has before if the chance of her turning in the next 4 weeks still good/high??

Khanga27 · 17/07/2024 17:43

@Lillers thanks very much really appreciate it. I’ve just picked up my home testing kit from the hospital (they don’t do GTT after 32 weeks, but tbf I did not enjoy that test anyway when I had it done), so from tomorrow need to test 4 times a day for 3 days. Makes the 1 hour after dinner test a bit awkward as I’m at NCT and I tend to drive there straight after eating.

Lillers · 17/07/2024 18:11

@Khanga27 The 1 hour thing is so annoying - it means you have to be so structured with when you’re eating. I found it tricky at work so had to have my risk assessment updated to make sure I’m not teaching when I have to test after lunch, as while I have no issue testing in front of adults, I don’t want to do it in front of teenagers. I’d definitely recommend setting a timer on your phone (I set mine for 58 minutes to give me a couple of minutes of faffing about time) as obviously it reminds you to test, but I also find it means other people recognise that it’s a signal that you need to stop and do something (so if you’re mid-conversation you don’t have to do the awkward “oh sorry I have to do something else now”, because the alarm already interrupted and so you can react and they know you’re not just being rude).

Fingers will be sore after a couple of days, so switch around and avoid using the same one every time. And warm water on the finger before testing helps the blood to flow a bit more easily.

SpicyMoth · 17/07/2024 18:50

33 weeks now and feeling.... URGH. Anyone else reaching the same point?

Hands are swollen and intensely sore (To the point I need help doing things that require any pressure on hands or fingers like opening an Amazon package or pulling up my leggings after having a wee!)

Feet & ankles also VERY swollen, though not sore (thank god!)

The most intense heartburn I've ever had.
I'd sworn off Rennies since the Kidney stone issue, but I can't be without them at the moment. It's so bad it woke me up from a dead sleep last night and I nearly threw up in bed - Dunno what I'd have done without my water and bedside Rennies handy, DH would not have been pleased.

Taking 4+hours to fall asleep or get comfy even with using an entire duvet to support my bump and legs x-x (We have a duvet each because DH is a duvet hog 😂)

THE HEAT. Fuck me, I feel like the blood pumping around my body is fucking LAVA.

Cannot turn in bed or get up from sitting/laying at all without re-creating Puss In Boots in that Shrek the Third alternate universe movie where he's pampered and very very fat.

PGP is agony now and only remedied by sitting on Gym ball whenever I'm not standing. I don't think I've sat in a chair or on a sofa for a good 2 1/2 weeks now.

Bump is SO in the way & massive?!!
Idk what I was expecting, but I certainly wasn't expecting to give myself back pain from having to reach forward over my bump to wash some bloody dishes!!
Bump hits the edge of the sink before I'm anywhere close, and my arms are so bloody short it's genuinely a work out!
I feel so far away from everything, my desk, the sink, the cooker, the bloody floor - not even to mention my nether regions, I don't think I've seen it for a good 3 months now!

I'm not the most physically fit in the world by any stretch of the imagination, but good god I didn't think I'd be feeling THIS run down and just... "Bleghhhh".

@TripleESept24 I'm 30 weeks and baby has been breach for a few weeks now!

@Xur how exciting to be finishing work. I finish next Thursday and have a mix of emotions! Scared, excited and sadness.. worry about not having a routine for 8 weeks before baby arrives.

@SpicyMoth sounds like you're really getting a sh*t time off it at the moment! I'm doing fine at 30 weeks but sciatica has kicked back in.. my bum cheek kills when I walk.
Like you, turning in bed is like an Olympic sport 😂
I'm dripping with sweat at work! It's horrid. My bump presses on the desk which isn't fun.
I can't bend down without feeling I'll pass out or stop breathing

Xur · 17/07/2024 20:27

@WinsandSam I’m having the same thoughts 😬

Emmaev · 17/07/2024 20:35

@Xur how exciting! I finished yesterday and it felt amazing, I work in care and was struggling so bad being so active, also the not being able to bend down definitely hindered my ability to help people

Bump is so huge, but I’m only 5 days away from being my most pregnant ever. Baby girl is looking great, kicking up an absolute storm in my belly. I did worry yesterday about kicks, but I think it was positional as she’s been non stop today.

After finishing work yesterday I had a massive realisation that in under 7 weeks I’ll have to have a baby. And although I know I’m pregnant obviously haha, it hit me like I’ll have to birth her haha

Xur · 17/07/2024 20:43

@Emmaev my app says 52 more days to go 🥴😬 It just feels now…so close, because I know a month is 30 days and that goes by really fast 🙀
Physically I could continue to work, my official maternity starts on 05th of August, but I was just casually told end of May “btw you have 12 more days to book out if not you loose it” . I didn’t know we accrue holidays while on maternity and since all my maternity leave papers had already been submitted I had to book them out prior to leave, so here I am.

It’s ok to be off because mentally I’m checked out and probably working further into August would result in me requiring to do holiday covers for others which I don’t really fancy.

My work got me a really cute present, well not me, baby got a nice present. It’s a personalised plush bear and a sleep suit with company logo and says “new recruit” and a matching bib with teddies.

Emmaev · 17/07/2024 20:48

@Xur I’m the same I have holiday to take so I officially start maternity leave on the 5th August. But I wanted to spend the summer with my eldest daughter before baby arrives. And with her being born at 33 weeks when I booked maternity that was in the back of my mind.

Aww that’s so cute! Always lovely when your work thinks of you. I got a little bear as well and almost cried haha

SC126 · 17/07/2024 21:10

@Xur 2 more days at work for me too. Officially mat leave starts mid August but using leave like you. I’ll get the full school holidays with my eldest so no break before baby arrives but he will be so happy to have me around all summer.

Xur · 17/07/2024 21:13

I got a feeling the house is going to be very clean and the garden is going to be perfectly organized by the time the official maternity date hits 😂
I have a 32 week scan tomorrow and for some reason I have an unnerving feeling/fear/suspicion inside, I’m worried they will see something bad in the scan 😒

Honeyandsunshine1 · 17/07/2024 21:19

@SpicyMoth When did you last see your midwife? Just because swollen hands and feet were my first sign of pre-eclampsia in a previous pregnancy. It’s most likely because it’s hot/your body is doing A LOT growing a 33 weeker(!) but if you hadn’t seen your midwife for a little while I’d definitely recommend buying yourself some urine dip sticks to check your wee every morning for PE just in case

SpicyMoth · 17/07/2024 21:21

Started another thread btw! I'm anticipating this being full soon <3 (It's 40 that threads stop taking replies right? ;o; )

I've been worried about that too honestly, but they never seem worried at appointments, never gets brough tup as I haven't had headaches or blurry vision etc!

4th of July was my last, she didn't seem massively worried even though I'd brought up how much pain my hands were in - Though tbf my usual MW was off sick so I had someone else that time >.<

I have another MW appt tomorrow though, hopefully with my original midwife so I'll bring it up again then as it's deffo getting worse pain wise and I'm feeling like absolute poo! 😩

@SpicyMoth i was also thinking to be aware of pre eclampsia. When I had it in my previous pregnancy I never had headaches or blurry vision. It was high bp and swelling that first alerted me, and it was a slow progression to be diagnosed.

Hopefully it’s just the heat causing the swelling as my feet have been looking puffier recently too. they do tend to go down though once I’ve rested a little

Honeyandsunshine1 · 17/07/2024 21:45

@SpicyMoth thing is, I didn’t have blurry vision, chest pain or headaches either. It was literally just swollen legs and hands to begin with. I even ended up in the triage around 36 weeks because I’d heard that swollen hands were a symptom, so I took myself down there to be sure - they put me on the machine and checked my bp, all was good so they sent me on my merry way. They then diagnosed me with preeclampsia a few weeks later through constant urine samples and my bp started rising. So for me, the swelling was a very early sign so deffo see what they say tomorrow, and mention it 🤞🏻 Hopefully all comes back good tomorrow and youre totally fine 😍

I have the urine dipsticks now which I bought off amazon and use every morning 🤣 I don’t have much swelling but because there’s so much time between my midwife appts, I wanna be able to catch anything that might come up between then because PE (not to scare you at all) can arise pretty quickly 😣

Emmaev · 17/07/2024 21:48

@SpicyMoth also heartburn is a symptom of pre eclampsia. Which I also had with my eldest. And it was very severe towards the end.

it’s so hard to diagnose it though as a lot of symptoms are also just regular pregnancy symptoms. They didn’t diagnose me until 33 weeks when I had protein in my urine

SpicyMoth · 17/07/2024 22:20

Tysm ladies, I'll be sure to raise it tomorrow - especially hands and heartburn aspect - I think I've had about.. 3 maybe 4 Rennies today? It just keeps coming back with such a vengeance, it's bloody awful 😓
I can't stand mint but I've been chomping them down with a huge grimace as it's genuinely just so bad >.<

OP posts:
MudandMoet · 18/07/2024 08:54

@SpicyMoth hope everything goes okay at your appointment today. They do orange rennies in boots, I'm also not a fan of the mint ones and they do a berry gaviscon too in there. On my bad days with indy I've been having 6 rennies and a good swig of gaviscon else I'm stuck with it all day/night. I'm guessing from your post that's too much but it's probably only 2-3 days a week that it's that bad.

MudandMoet · 18/07/2024 08:55

@Xur hopefully your intuition is wrong and it's just an irrational thought. I'm sure everything will be just fine at your scan today. Keep us posted.
