Continuation from thread 7 over here; https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/pregnancy/5070517-september-2024-thread-7?page=40

Can't believe we filled the last thread up already feels like it wasn't even made that long ago, gosh time is absolutely flying by!!

@WinsandSam - I'll have to ask about CBT for sure, thanks so much for the recommendation - maybe I'll actually get some help seeing as I'm pregnant!

I've been trying to get mental health support for... Well to be honest since teen-hood and realising my daily crying was not in fact "just my period/puberty" as every doctor told me it was (all males ofc, typical 🙄) so I don't hold out much hope if I'm being honest.
I originally wanted to wait until my MH was sorted before ttc, but after over a decade I was running out of fertile time frankly, so here I am still with crazy anxiety and emotional dysregulation, but what can ya do?! 😅

As requested a new thread for us all! 🥰 can't believe its thread 7 already! Then hopefully by thread 14 we'll all have our babies in our arms talkin...

@Ritagoestohollywood because we have a big age gap … I had a great excuse to start over 😂 and I kept it simple and neutral in case I do get my dream 3rd baby but if not this is still feminine but vintage was what I was after!

it does seem bizzare as she’ll be with us for the first half of a year if not longer but nesting kicked me HARD in the ass and I’ve promised to do my sons room next … I have 8 weeks

HRP1990 · 15/07/2024 07:18

@longingtobe23 the nursery looks gorgeous! I feel guilty that I’ve spent loads of time wallpapering ours.. so in turn it’s made me want to re-decorate my daughters too 🙈

longingtobe23 · 15/07/2024 08:49

@HRP1990 exactly 🙈 I only did one wallpaper but it was dark green office before so has taken so long. Poor kid. Haha hopefully I can crack on with his this week before he breaks up for summer!
good luck to us 🤞🏻

entering week 31 and midwife on Friday… and week after scan… after a slow month it’ll be nice to touch base and hear/see baby
how many appointments do we get towards the end I can’t remember ? Is it every 2-3 weeks after 36?!

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 15/07/2024 09:24

We've finally started the nursery now too! Husband has been painting all weekend then in laws will be coming next weekend to wallpaper one wall, then it'll be time to lay the laminate and skirtings and then my favourite part...all the decor!

@longingtobe23 the midwife appts are 31 weeks, 34, 36, 38, 40, 41, 42 😊

tryingfortwo2 · 15/07/2024 09:32

Anyone else suddenly feel like it’s draggingggg? When people ask how long I’ve got left, I tend to round up or down to the closest week but it means I feel like I’ve been saying “about 6 weeks to go” for aaaaages, like I’m stuck at 34 weeks. Which isn’t even here yet, I’m 34 weeks tomorrow! Trying to enjoy these last few weeks with just my daughter, but pregnancy is really kicking my butt now and I feel like I’m starting to wish it away..

malimoon · 15/07/2024 10:14

We're working on the nursery, my partner has painted it but we still need to install the blind and the bookshelves, and then if we have time we want to put a built in cupboard on the wall near the door (the wall you can't see in the pic) so we can store all the random household stuff currently stacked up in the corner... Baby's room used to be our spare room and this flat does not have enough storage. Also need a chest of drawers and a rug. But the cot is up and the colour is on the walls at least!

Yes! I found out at 8dpo and it's been a looong road of multiple MMCs prior to conceiving... so basically it feels like almost 2 years of getting to this moment. I'm still too nervous to buy stuff for the baby, though am fortunate to have been gifted a lot of hand me downs and I have a toddler so just need to sort through her stuff and reassemble.

Yes massively! I’ll be 30 weeks on Wednesday and feel like I’ve been saying “10 weeks to go” for ages!

MudandMoet · 15/07/2024 12:04

@tryingfortwo2 this is me now too. I'm a day behind you but also rounding up/down when people ask. I'm all ready now and just cannot wait to meet this little baby. This last week I've felt so sluggish, it's like all of a sudden my energy has been zapped and it's not like me to have no mojo. We found out super early after a lot of heartache too so I feel guilty of wishing these last 5-6 weeks away.

MudandMoet · 15/07/2024 12:18

Anyone else's baby get hiccups at least 3 times a day? I've read that at this stage 33-34 weeks they drink and piddle out around 1 pint of amniotic fluid per day.

tryingfortwo2 · 15/07/2024 12:33

@fleur89 @Lillers @MudandMoet glad I’m not alone in it all but sad you’re feeling it too! We found out at 8dpo too, we had a rough time of it trying for our first and I was anticipating the same again this time, so was on the LH sticks from day one and testing early obviously 😂

It’s also hard not to wish it away when you know the newborn bubble is so much sweeter than the end stages of pregnancy too! And yes on the hiccups, probably about 3 times a day here too. So distracting but very cute!

HRP1990 · 15/07/2024 13:30

It’s funny you all say that as I feel the opposite! I opened a pregnancy app this morning that I haven’t used for a while and it said “55 days until childbirth” and I was like.. holy shit! That seems way too soon!

It’s given me a sudden rush of - must wash this, build that, read this, organise that!

mrsbgb · 15/07/2024 13:35

I’m more similar to @HRP1990, panicking at how little time left and how much there is to do!

We had another scan this morning to look at baby’s kidney. They can’t be certain until he’s born but they’re confident one won’t work - however he’s looking great in every other way and it seems like his “good” kidney is compensating for the non-working one which is positive. He’s also a little chunk - 4lb4 at 31 weeks and +90th centile on everything. Given both his dad and I are tall this isn’t a surprise!

Xur · 15/07/2024 14:27

I feel like an array of things is still yet to happen until baby arrives and time is ticking away. I have just two more working days left before my maternity!
I keep circling certain thoughts in my head

  • we need to go to Ikea
  • we need to find a solution for storing X, Y,Z
  • I only have two pacifiers and they might be the wrong size
  • we need to buy diapers and figure out where to store them
  • I need to do the massive clean in the house
  • I need to do some garden work
  • should I book a hairdressing touch up before the baby arrives?
  • I will need to order a post partum corset the, but how do I calculate the size I need
  • need to bookmark post partum leggings
  • Pretty sure I’ll overdo everything and baby will come late and I’ll end up waiting like a hen in a chicken coup at the end
…that’s just one bit of the porridge I’m stirring in my head…
TripleESept24 · 15/07/2024 14:36

I also feel like it's dragging now ...... I'm rounding down and saying 8 weeks to go (I have 8 weeks 4 days!!) I do have a week's holiday to Cornwall next week tho to visit all of my family! And a baby moon in August to Bridlington!

But amongst all this I still have pram to purchase and a baby carrier, bouncer chair and breast pump! 😭

I feel like we need the little baby moon away in August just the two of us before she arrives, but I'm starting to wonder now as we still have some pretty expensive things to buy!! 😐

I have 31 week midwife appointment on Wednesday will be 31 weeks and 5 days, I'm going to ask what position baby girl is in as nobody has told me so far!

WinsandSam · 15/07/2024 15:04

@tryingfortwo2 no, I feel like it's flown by too quickly! I have 9 weeks left now and don't know where the time has gone and it's freaking me out as a FTM

Decaffe · 15/07/2024 16:39

30w4d here and I have been feeling nauseous / not myself all day. It should have been a really productive WFH day but instead it was all I could do to send a few emails. Bugger 😏 I’m trying to work out if my bump feels a bit sore too, is that normal at this stage?

Please can someone explain to me what we will need for the cot in terms of blankets / sheets / sleeping bags etc? Much like prams, the choices seem overwhelming and confusing. Please just tell me what to buy 😁

hol92 · 15/07/2024 16:50

@Decaffe I'm the same as you, just over 30 weeks and feeling off, the last week I keep getting near black out experiences, I will feel sick and then my eyes will start to black out so I just have to sit on the floor to stop myself passing out, it happened today in the supermarket (very embarrassing) has anyone else had anything like this? I do have pretty low blood pressure just wondered if there is anyone else that has and if they have any tips on how to stop it x

Xur · 15/07/2024 17:08

I had this earlier in the pregnancy @hol92 . I too have low pressure, I had to sit down at a John Lewis store last time.

@Decaffe Make sure you get a waterproof mattress topper/mattress protector. That will go under the bedsheet. All my friends kept asking me continuously so that I wouldn’t forget to buy one. Just passing the message on.

rupertbear91 · 15/07/2024 17:34

@hol92 I feel exactly the same at the minute. Have spent most the day lying down as everytime I try to do something I have the near black out it's horrid.
It happened to me twice within an hour just sat in my anaesthetist consultant appointment and she just said yeh it's just pregnancy and carried on talking whilst I was bent over trying to regain some normality.

longingtobe23 · 15/07/2024 18:02

Lots of spare under sheets / you can usually tuck and use sheets for prams Moses and next to Me cribs usually a nice universal size so no need to buy all different brands but trial them all first
defo waterproof or protectors as so much spewing to start haha
I just got even more Muslins as I usually use them to lie these under for sick catching and tuck in as well (always have to be so secure for obvious reasons) but just have loads so you’re not constantly washing whole sheets and beds!
I think a few baby sleep bags but again I think depends on baby’ so get 1/2 and see how you get on?
cellular blanket best first the first bit in my opinion anyway …safe breathable and won’t break the bank. I want to love the dream sleep swaddle bags I have been gifted one - but I refuse to buy more until I know they work for baby.
uhh think that was all you asked!? Luckily Amazon and supermarkets have it all these days so best advice is trial and see where you can!

tryingfortwo2 · 15/07/2024 18:06

@WinsandSam you could make a wee list of everything that NEEDS to be in place the day baby comes, and go from there? Maybe a bit less overwhelming, and most other stuff can be picked up/ordered overnight once baby’s here.

So things like car seat to get them home, clothes for hospital (both you and baby), nappies, breast pads, feeding plan/back up plan, something for them to sleep in when they get home - bedside cot/basket w/ mattress cover and sheet, sleeping/swaddle bag. And so on… I’m trying to do this for myself at the moment!

@Decaffe we had a next2me crib with a mattress, mattress protector, cotton sheet, and swaddle sleeping bags - both “hands up” ones that are very popular (brand is ‘love to dream’), and traditional style ones where their arms are crossed on their chest. I think different babies like different arm positions so we had both in just in case (she much preferred the love to dream ones). No blankets or loose covers at all, just a layered baby if necessary, and the sleeping bag. Not sure if that’s any help!

Decaffe · 15/07/2024 18:19

Thanks all, making a list! Do I need to worry about TOG ratings at this stage?

SC126 · 15/07/2024 18:26

Had my growth scan today at 32 weeks exactly. Placenta has moved up which is good news though I’m having a c section regardless so I wasn’t too worried. Baby is a chonk on the 85th centile. My eldest was the same so also not too much of a shock 😂 the only negative thing that cropped up was that they saw I have gallstones 😣
ive got consultant Friday and really hoping they book my c section in then.

rupertbear91 · 15/07/2024 18:48

@Decaffe I saved this to my phone from a group the other day to help with tog rating. I hope it's accurate. We got a room themometer as our house is quite cold so I got 3 2.5 togs and plan on using them
