Hi Ladies, I've been getting impatient lately as my energy has dropped and I'm huge! Baby is measuring ahead and I have extra amniotic fluid around the baby. They are talking about induction so I guess its nearly time for me...

Anybody else? X

Hi OP, similar boat here. I'm 37 weeks this weekend but baby is measuring huge so induction booked for Monday 28th at 38+1. He's likely to be 10lb plus by then 😳 I'm so uncomfortable now and just want him out!

Olivebranch26 · 17/06/2021 13:05

@SamoyedFan123 Oh I'm not alone then! I have a other scan on Tuesday to see how much baby has grown, he was measuring nearly 7lb at 35+4 but since then they have said it feels like there is even more fluid, its almost impossible to bend down lol and I have a 3 year old at home with me so the days are fun.. Hmm

Its hard isn't it, at least you've got your induction date set are you getting excited? Is this your first?

@Olivebranch26 I don't have extra fluid, but my baby was measuring 8lb 8oz at 35+4 last week 😳 I'm with you on the bending down - I have 24mo twins at home so spend most of my day bending down, picking them or their toys up, getting up and down off the floor, etc. It's very hard as you say - this one already weighs as much as they did combined when they were delivered at 34 weeks. I am looking forward to the induction, just nervous it won't work as he is showing no sign of being anywhere near ready to join us yet.

Hopefully your scan will go well and you will get a date/plan for your induction on tuesday 🤞😊

Olivebranch26 · 17/06/2021 15:50

@SamoyedFan123 Oh bless you having twins to care for too! That just sounds extra painful, I bet you can't wait. My induction with my DD was not a bad experience and was due to high bp at 39 weeks. My body wasn't ready so I did have 2 days of pesseries to get me to 1cm then waters broken. Things moved fast after that, a little too fast and I was tired so opted for an epidural, which was absolute heaven at the time. I'd be happy to be induced again and hoping they give me a bit more time to get my body ready.. although with each passing day the baby is getting bigger lol. Sounds like you've got a big one coming Grin let's hope they behave themselves on the way out!

37+4 and being induced on 28th!

SamoyedFan123 · 17/06/2021 16:28

Thankyou for sharing your positive induction experience - i am really nervous, especially as the twins were a crash caesarean which was an awful experience and I'm really desperate to avoid another c section. I know induction VBACs can be tricky 🙁

I hope that you get the birth that you want too - if you had a positive induction once i'm sure you can do again if that is what's necessary. I would rather leave it another week personally abd do it at 39 weeks but I'm terrified of how big he's going to be by then. My consultant also said its pointless after 38+6 as outcomes are no different to not having the induction at all 😳

SamoyedFan123 · 17/06/2021 16:29

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE maybe we can be induction buddies 😁

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 17/06/2021 16:57

Maybe! Although i am praying not to need it!

LisaLx · 17/06/2021 17:01

I'm 38 and a half weeks here. I've been 3cm dilated from the weekend with no end in sight

Owlette123 · 17/06/2021 17:13

36+5, so tired, so heavy, uncomfortable, still trying to work as it's not like I can just sit and do nothing at home as I'd have 4 year old to look after.

Appointment next week at 37+5 to decide if c section needed as baby breach and big.

I'd take one tomorrow if I could lol

AlwaysNapTime · 17/06/2021 17:15

38+5. Was having pains through the night the other night then they just stopped! Keep having lower back ache and slight cramps but never turn into anything.
No midwife appointment until I'm a week overdue but I do have a 40 week growth scan next Friday.
I'm too hot, hormones are raging and I'm utterly fed up!

Flittingaboutagain · 17/06/2021 17:22

I'm confused...I read on another thread that predicted size of baby isn't a reason to induce early because measurements Inc scans are so inaccurate and it's meant to be on medical need only....

I'm almost 37 weeks now and definitely feel for you ladies even further along, especially in this heat.

kerbearr · 17/06/2021 17:24

Ah I'm 35 weeks with twins, growth scan yesterday showed both babies are growing very well, near 11lb worth of babies inside me now, everything hurts and I spend my days reclined like a whale. But I got my induction date yesterday, 4th of July, Independence Day, and it can't come quick enough lol

toto23 · 17/06/2021 17:25

37 weeks and measuring big,

went for growth scan today and have another in a weeks time , and they'll give me a sweep.

Induction was booked for the 1st but they are eager to get the baby out before then.

I am so done with being massive and having to be pulled out of bed and off couches .

Olivebranch26 · 17/06/2021 17:44

Hi everyone, wow looks like there's going to be lots of babies in the next few weeks, and big ones too! I bet my induction date will be the 28th too now Smile

@LisaLx thats great that your 3cm already hopefully you've not too long now.

@Flittingaboutagain I think if you have no other issues a big baby is not too cause for concern. I also have high bp, polyhydramnios and have protein in my urine so I'm pretty much falling apart lol. That being said I'm still going to ask for some sweeps and try get this baby out before then. There is a risk of cord prolapse with excess fluid and aparently my waters could go any day with a gush! Blush

@SamoyedFan123 I was also very nervous being induced with my first I had no idea what to expect, it is tiring being in the hospital for days as it can take a while to kick start, but I was very unfavorable. I had a check the other day as I was having braxton hicks tightening every 5 minutes on the monitor and they thought it was labour. My cervix was high and thick, closed shut she said.. not what I wanted to hear!

Have you asked if they can give you a sweep before your induction date to try get things going?

Flittingaboutagain · 17/06/2021 18:16

Thanks for clarifying OP. It's all so confusing! Best of luck!

SamoyedFan123 · 17/06/2021 19:13

@Olivebranch26 yes I've asked if I can have a sweep at my consultant appointment next thursday so 4 days before induction is booked.

@Flittingaboutagain I've requested this induction (which was suggested but not pushed on me) because my baby is set to be 11lb plus at 40 weeks. This is based on many consistent growth scans over time and I come from a line of big babies so I trust that its fairly accurate. I've never had a vaginal birth before so have no idea if my body can get a baby that big out and I'm desperate to avoid another c section so it's my choice.

Olivebranch26 · 17/06/2021 19:34

@SamoyedFan123 thats good ill keep my fingers crossed the sweep does the trick for you 🤞 in the mean time don't be too worried about induction, I know some people have had bad experiences but I have also heard many good ones and if baby is big he/she might be more than ready to come Grin

Has anybody been feeling lots of pressure down there? I've been getting low period type aches lately and it can get quite painful to walk. I think I'm 2/5 engaged maybe this could be the reason..

Hello! 37 weeks today and also measuring big. They also diagnosed me with gestational diabetes last week but luckily I can control with diet and exercise.

Spoke to a consultant yday and they mentioned induction but I said I wanted to wait until 39 weeks and they said that was fine… the midwife said my baby feels normal sized, the scan showed that it had a massive belly but every other measurement was on 50th centile?? I’m hoping for a water birth 🤞

Tvscreen · 17/06/2021 21:14

Also feeling fed up as I have an active 2.5 yo DS and we have just watched tv for the past few days 😬

Mylasmummy2102 · 17/06/2021 21:18

I'm 38 weeks tomorrow baby was 5lb at 32 weeks I've been for 2 scans about extra fluid but they keep saying it's fine even tho I'm measuring 42 weeks 🤷‍♀️! No induction for me just being left too it! I'm getting really restless now I want him here! Every little pain I secretly hope it's the start but never Is lol 😂

Olivebranch26 · 18/06/2021 09:13

@Tvscreen thats great that you are able to control it and possibly wait till 39 weeks, I got induced at 39 weeks with DD and it wasn't bad at all. My baby also showing a big massive belly! Hmm and I know how you feel I used to be so active and we would be at the park even in the rain, now my poor girl has to deal with me dragging myself around the house and my husband is working extra shifts which doesn't help. The end is near though! X

@Mylasmummy2102 it would be great if you could avoid induction, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you go into labour soon. I guess every area does things differently as they mentioned induction quite early on for me but I do have a few other issues. Could you ask them for a sweep maybe to help things along? X

SamoyedFan123 fingers crossed for you! Hopefully baby is ready to come soon

Yes the pressure is building but then at other times it seems less...I guess baby must still be able to retreat up?!
