Hi Ladies, I've been getting impatient lately as my energy has dropped and I'm huge! Baby is measuring ahead and I have extra amniotic fluid around the baby. They are talking about induction so I guess its nearly time for me...

Anybody else? X

@Tvscreen aw. I haven’t been having much joy with the colostrum either. Feel like I’ve done it for hours in total and only had a few drops a couple of times. I don’t have GD though, hope it’s not stressing you out too much? I’ve pretty much given up because I found it was making me really cross and my hands go numb - carpal tunnel. I was thinking about getting a pump to encourage the colostrum to come through and then switch back to hand expressing again after a couple of days? But I don’t know if it’s a good idea.

RachShad · 04/07/2021 14:49

38 weeks here, have no signs of anything happening yet, when did you guys lose your mucus plug? Or anything kind of start happening? I'm getting so impatient now just want it to be over haha

pinkgin8 · 04/07/2021 14:52

38 3 today, have a second sweep tomorrow for 38.4 which midwife thinks will do the trick
Been loosing mucus plug for a few days now too.
@RachShad sometimes you don't loose it until your waters break! I didn't loose any with my first dd, only discovered what a mucus plug is during this second pregnancy Shock

RachShad · 04/07/2021 14:58

@pinkgin8 oh how come your having a sweep so early if you don't mind me asking?
Ahh right, seems like it could be a long wait for me, I've not had any braxton hicks, any sort of pain, nothing! Which some would say is good but I feel as though she's just really comfy in there and doesn't wana move 😂

BlackberrySt · 04/07/2021 15:14

@RachShad I am the same but getting on for 40wks! Well, have been having stronger braxton hicks for a couple of days now but that’s it. No pain, no mucus plug etc

I have a sweep on Thursday, which is my due date. Really curious to know what my cervix is like/if baby is engaged. He wasn’t fully engaged at my 38wk appointment.

Feeling so normal is slightly annoying at this point isn’t it? Haha. Not that I want to be in pain or anything but it would be nice to have some sign things are progressing

RachShad · 04/07/2021 16:08

Yeah it's so annoying haha, although I'd be more frustrated if I was you at 40 weeks, I'm only 38 and feeling fed up!! Good luck for your Sweep on Thursday!

pinkgin8 · 04/07/2021 17:42

@RachShad so I don't go overdue, I'm going to the hospital but anyone can get one done at 39 weeks for £50 if your midwife won't do it if you have a tummy2mummy clinic near you, not saying I recommended it but the service is there

Yep! She may be very comfortable! My last sweep did nothing so if this doesn't either I think it's a case of he doesn't wanna come out! I won't be medically induced I declined , if the sweep works it's cause my body's ready and if it doesn't , it's cause it isn't and doesn't cause any harm at all!
Someone I know had one yesterday at 39 weeks at the tummy2mummy - she gave birth at 3ish am this morning! So it does do something for some!

RachShad · 04/07/2021 17:48

Hmm not sure if we have a tummy2mummy clinic near us, ill have to maybe look into that.
Yeah thats very true, I suppose they'll come out when they're ready but the wait is just very annoying this close to the end!! But ahhh thats great, its just so different for everyone it's really hard to know isn't it!

Mumoftwo2021 · 04/07/2021 18:01

36 weeks here, was fed up a while ago but now I’m getting more excited and don’t mind it slowing down as I’m getting anxious! 😂🤦🏼‍♀️ Trying to appreciate my afternoon naps and sleep.
A relative told me that if you say your in lots of pain due to spd etc you can get a sweep before 40 weeks - I think she had hers at 38 weeks xx

pinkgin8 · 04/07/2021 20:35

@RachShad worth a check. If your fed up by next week you can book yourself in Grin
Is this your first or second baby? X

RachShad · 04/07/2021 22:16

I've checked I can't see any of those clinics near me, never mind!! But yeah first baby how about you? X

pinkgin8 · 04/07/2021 23:52

What area are you from? There might be others! I could check for you if it's something you'd ever think you'd want and second! X

pinkgin8 · 04/07/2021 23:53

Currently sat on the exercise/birthing ball, as I cannot get comfortable and it really makes a difference Grin

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 05/07/2021 07:04

@Olivebranch26 hows it going now?

Olivebranch26 · 05/07/2021 07:19

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't updated recently or read through many posts. My beautiful boy Max is sleeping beside me, I'm so in love. He weighed 8lb 9 and had a dramatic entrance 11pm Saturday.

After my first pessary, things were looking good I had dilated to 4cm and contracting on my own. Lots of walking, he was turning back to back but we still had time to get him in a better position. It was decided that I should get an assisted ARM. As the doctor was checking me before breaking waters they accidently went and caused cord presentation. The doctor had to hold up the baby's head inside me as they whisked me off to theatre and unfortunately put to sleep. It would have been traumatic but we are both fine still recovering in the hospital and thats all that matters now Smile

SamoyedFan123 · 05/07/2021 08:47

@Olivebranch26 huge congratulations! I'm sorry your delivery wasn't what you had hoped for but glad you're both doing well now xxx

RachShad · 05/07/2021 09:41

I'm in the North East area England @pinkgin8 !
And awwww @Olivebranch26 congratulations!! Glad you are both doing well xx

Ctvyh7h7 · 05/07/2021 10:29

Massive congratulations @Olivebranch26 💙 glad you are both doing well and hope you can relax and settle back in at home soon.

Quick question for those who have had their babies already by spontaneous delivery - how long were you in hospital for before birth? I'm trying to work out what arrangements I need to make for our pets whilst my partner and I are in hospital 🐶🐱 thanks in advance!

BlackberrySt · 05/07/2021 11:40

Congratulations @Olivebranch26 sounds like a dramatic delivery, glad you’re both well.

I’ve given in and bought an exercise ball to bounce on... £7.99 in Argos, worth a try 🙂

onanadventure · 05/07/2021 12:11

I've got so impatient. I just want baby out now as I'm terrified that the longer bubs is in something will go wrong and then it'll be my fault... Least if she's out then DH and I can look after her.

I think I might have lost mucas plug last week- but equally had no signs or anything since then so might have just been discharge, which I've had a lot of (sorry TMI). Some twinges but they don't progress.

I mean - it's all in good time, and she's bouncing away and happy inside, but I really hope she comes out soon.

BlackberrySt · 07/07/2021 09:55

How’s everyone getting on?

Any progress @onanadventure? None here but I have a sweep tomorrow morning.

onanadventure · 07/07/2021 10:16

Aha
nothing.
Had appt yesterday and baby is only 1/5 engaged so resigning myself for a long, boring, and lonely maternity leave before baby turns up.
stupid me for being optimistic and sign spotting.
I should have worked for longer.

BlackberrySt · 07/07/2021 10:36

@onanadventure are you getting on for 39wks now? It’s hard to be patient. I keep reminding myself of what my friend said to me - this is only the start of doing things to the baby’s timetable, better get used to it! Haha makes sense.

Can you distract yourself with a mini project maybe? Or I would recommend a birthing ball if you haven’t got one. I’m glad I bought one in the end, I can sit and bounce while watching something. No idea if it’s making a difference but at least it feels like I’m doing something proactive... I might even bounce him out.

Really curious to know if he’s engaged now as he wasn’t fully at my 38wk appointment, I think I’ll feel really frustrated if he isn’t or if my midwife feels my cervix tomorrow and says nope he’s ages off. I still don’t have that ‘bowling ball between the legs’ feeling people mention when they’ve engaged.

Sorry having a ramble here!
