Hi Ladies, I've been getting impatient lately as my energy has dropped and I'm huge! Baby is measuring ahead and I have extra amniotic fluid around the baby. They are talking about induction so I guess its nearly time for me...

Anybody else? X

35 +4 over here and absolutely humungous. I am having a sweep at my 38week midwife appointment with induction to be booked for 12th July, was supposed to be 5th July but we decided to wait until 39 weeks in the hope that the induction will be quicker. At this point I have had enough of this massive belly and all the aches and pains that go with it. Baby was 4lb at last scan (32 weeks).

Mylasmummy2102 · 18/06/2021 13:16

@Olivebranch26

I went into Labour naturally with my other 2 both nine days later 😩! They won't do a sweep until I'm 41 weeks as it's my third baby so I literally just have to wait hoping he won't be too overdue xx

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 18/06/2021 13:19

Its funny different areas do things differently. I had a sweep during wk 39 with dc4, on due date with dc5 and hopefully during wk 38 with this one

Mylasmummy2102 · 18/06/2021 13:50

Yeah it's really weird isn't it. Midwife told me she can't do a sweep till I'm a week late 😩

Olivebranch26 · 19/06/2021 09:09

It sounds like a lot of you ladies have inductions booked in, at least there's not too long a wait left for you. Its not nice being so big is it, our bellies feel like they will pop!

I was back in the hospital yesterday for monitoring, my bp is still slightly high despite medication which is raising babys heartrate too. I'm in again Tuesday for another bp profile and scan. I'm not sure what they will do with me now, baby is no longer engaged and back to back typical lol. I'm just really hoping they won't send me for a c section 😬

@Olivebranch26 one of mine was back to back and it was fine, just thought i would let you know back to back doesnt always mean itll be awful!

onanadventure · 19/06/2021 14:58

36+2 today, and had a scan last week - measuring 6lb (which is surprising as my DH and I are both 6ft tall and well built so we're expecting a chunky bubba.

Feeling ok - but getting more uncomfortable each week especially when it's hot.
Looking forward to meeting bubba tho.

Olivebranch26 · 19/06/2021 14:58

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE Oh thats good to know thank you, he still has a little time to move but at least there's some hope for a good labour. Back to back just sounds scary lol.

@onanadventure Hi, you've made it this far just a little wait left yet. Your bub may surprise you and pile on some pounds in the next few weeks, my DD was 6lb 10 and came out pretty quickly.

Its definitely getting harder with the weather isn't it. Is this your first?

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 19/06/2021 15:03

It does. I didnt know mine was b2b until i was in labour but whole thing was still only 5 hours!

Still expecting bubba to be a chunk - just hoping they come sooner than later.

Our first yeah - nervous and excited in equal measure. :D

Olivebranch26 · 19/06/2021 15:53

@onanadventure aw congratulations it is hard the first time as its very nerve racking, it will be so beautiful though when they finally get here! If you've any questions feel free to ask away, although I never went into labour naturally as was induced Smile

thank you.
I may well do - I keep coming up with random questions.
(ie, what do you put a baby in when it's raining - do you get a little raincoat onesie thing?)

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 19/06/2021 16:15

Ive never used a raincoat type thing on a non mobile baby. They tend to be sweaty material and when small baby tends to be under a raincover etc

thank you. I saw they sold them for 0-6 month olds, but I did wonder if it was a bit excessive.. Bubs'll be in a pram if we go out and it's raining anyway I guess - or tucked in a carrier under a poncho I have
THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 19/06/2021 16:57

Yes that is just someone trying to make money from new parents!

Olivebranch26 · 19/06/2021 18:10

@onanadventure lol you really made me think then with that question, I guess you do forget what having a baby is like.. I suppose I would have just had a rain cover over any car seat or pram to keep them dry and put a blanket (or my own coat I've often done) over us if caught out in some rain 🤷‍♀️

Has anyone started perineal massage? If so, how often do you do it and do you think it will help? Did it twice with my first but had an episiotomy anyway.

Also, has anyone started harvesting colostrum? I tried to squeeze something out yday but couldn’t manage it 😬

onanadventure · 20/06/2021 10:11

There's so many things that I've literally never thought about before that I have to now consider for a small human.

And then baby marketing is all "this will make your baby safer / smarter / essential.
and I get a bit overwhelmed with it all so bar car seat have stuck with second hand stuff mostly for clothes and furniture /kit.

There's plenty of time to buy them stuff that's specifically for them when I know what they like :D

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 20/06/2021 13:47

Omg i am so hormonal today

I either need to cry or murder someone 😑

Please say i am not alone!

SamG93 · 20/06/2021 14:10

38+4 today with breech baby, got my ELCS booked for Friday but secretly hoping I go into labour before that as I am just so done with pregnancy now and feel huge!! Baby was measuring 7lbs at my scan at 36+2. So god knows how much he'll weigh by the time he's here at 39+2 😥

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE I feel like this some days as well... especially after a bad nights sleep which is most nights lately!! This morning I woke up feeling awful and cleaning my house and being generally productive really helped my mood. Also bubble baths!!!

SamG93 · 20/06/2021 14:14

@Tvscreen I've managed to collect about 10 x 1ml syringes of colostrum to take into hospital, dunno if I'll need them but good to have just in case! Was reading a step by step tutorial and definitely seems like there's a technique to it.. I got better at it after the first couple of goes.. just keep practising! And make sure you're nice and relaxed and warm beforehand apparently that helps Smile

Olivebranch26 · 20/06/2021 15:09

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE I'm feeling the same today, DH only has Sundays off work atm so we are always so busy getting things sorted.. I didn't sleep and I'm exhausted but have to put on a nice face for fathers day lol I secretly want to kill him though for saying he has sympathy back pains! Hmm

@SamG93 I'll keep my fingers crossed something happens for you before then. Looks like you might be the first on here to see your baby though... how exciting! Grin

Baby girl came early... Father's Day gift! Nothing like what I planned but she's here safe and well. Hoping to go home in the morning.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 21/06/2021 07:37

Oh wow @Flittingaboutagain! Congratulations! Flowers What was your due date?

I have a growth scan today at 38+1 a week before induction is booked. Will be asking if/when i can get a sweep!
