Hi there 😀 decided to make this to chat to other Mums due this month.

I'm due on the 21st (Easter Sunday!) but I can't help shifting the feeling he'll be here earlier.

Anyone had false labours yet? I get bad for about 3 hours then it fades away - it's happened to me twice now! Getting fed up with the pain, discomfort and annoyed with my PGP (SPD) and Raynaud's so just want this kid now 😆

Very excited though, despite the nerves for labour. Just seeing how other Mums-to-be are handling things since we're so close to the end 😊

Massive congratulations @Mummab3ar! He's gorgeous. And what a great labour! I'm really pleased for you.

@Wordie I have everything crossed that the induction went well. Hope you're ok.

For those of you lamenting a lack of engagement /show/waters breaking, don't despair.
My baby hadn't engaged at my 38wk appointment and didn't notice a change, although she presumably did as ages here now!
I didn't have my show until labour was well underway.
My waters only broke while I was in the pool, not long before she actually came out. I think it was a matter of minutes.

I was booked in for an induction tomorrow (39 weeks) but then went into labour in the middle of the night and the baby (boy- third baby) was born early this morning. Labour was quick! Nice to not be pregnant anymore. Good luck everyone with your impending deliveries.

Blgb · 14/04/2019 17:18

Congratulations @FinallyGotAnIPhone 💙

anonaon · 14/04/2019 17:58

No signs here .. bit of pressure here n there that amounts to nothing. Two days overdue and feeling blahhhh . 🙄🙄🙄🙄

undercoverhero · 14/04/2019 21:10

Congratulations @FinallyGotAnIPhone that's great news!!!

No news here apart from the little nugget has turned around completely! His little feet are now kicking my right side rather than my left and he's still showing no signs of dropping. It's great to hear you are all having happy healthy babies tho Smile

desertmama1 · 15/04/2019 04:46

@anonaon I'm in the same situation... induction booked in for Saturday

Ahardma88 · 15/04/2019 07:30

Have to admit I am tempted to go and sit in the induction suite and just stand up when they say a name. Not crazy pregnant behaviour at all. Congratulations to all those who have had their babies

anonaon · 15/04/2019 08:40

@Ahardma88 tht made me LOL!

@desertmama1 why r u getting induced sat if u don't mind me asking? I live in n Ireland and they let u go the full two weeks here . Xoxo

Blgb · 15/04/2019 08:51

Yeah @anonaon I'm in Yorkshire and they say term+12 before a full induction. Not that I'm jealous or anything 😂

desertmama1 · 15/04/2019 09:24

@anonaon @Blgb I live in Abu Dhabi and they don't let you go past 41 weeks here... although I can refuse the induction. Let's see what happens.... I'm feeling some niggles right now but not getting my hopes up!!!

Blgb · 15/04/2019 09:27

Haha @desertmama1 that makes more sense then! In my head I just assume that everyone's in the UK lol

FinallyGotAnIPhone · 15/04/2019 13:53

I feel for everyone who is still waiting. I was so over being pregnant. One thing you could try is asking for a sweep ? I went to the consultant at 38 weeks (had to go for regular growth scans because of my age and they planned to induce me at 40 weeks anyway) and asked if he could do me a sweep which he did. The policy where I live is that midwives won’t do a sweep until you get to 40 weeks. He said he wouldn’t routinely do a sweep but was happy to do it given I asked. I think that did kick start the process. I’d been having pains for the last 10 days or so so I could tell my body was gearing up.

Blgb · 15/04/2019 14:27

Yeah that's the policy where I am. Had a sweep today at 40+1 and another booked for Thursday if I need it. Not the most pleasant experience but suppose it's a taster of what's to come.

Ahardma88 · 15/04/2019 19:42

Has anyone found that they're particularly hormonal at the moment? One moment I'm annoyed and then the next moment I'm crying uncontrollably. I think my dh is glad to be on nights.

anonaon · 15/04/2019 21:49

@Ahardma88 LORD YES... was grand until today . V snappy and impatient . First day of kids Easter hols too. My DD is quite demanding requires slot of stimulation and attention I counted "Mum" 17 times in ten mins and then gave up counting . Had arranged a play date with friend that fell through today and I'm glad as I may have ended up snapping with her three running about and my own two . Just ended up going to library and tomorrow is a new day and we will bake ! 😂🙈...it's nearly over ! I tell myself every day lol xxx

VixenAndCub · 16/04/2019 08:15

@FinallyGotAnIphone @Blgb
Stupid question time, but what's a sweep? My midwife mentioned it but didn't tell me what it is/does and I forgot to ask at the end of the chat. I'm on my 1st child so this is all new to me 😆

And congrats on your baby FinallyGotAnIphone! Hoping I can have a water birth too if nothing happens. I hear it makes a world of difference

@VixenAndCub it's where the midwife puts her fingers inside you and feels for your cervix. They can tell if you are dilated and it's position. They can also (depending on it's state) manipulate it around a bit. It is supposed to help to stimulate the hormones for a natural labour, but whether it works or not all depends.

It's my first too so was unsure of what to expect but fed up now so will try anything before full induction. Not the most pleasant experience and no movement so far, but you don't have to have it if you don't want

FinallyGotAnIPhone · 16/04/2019 11:02

Yes what @Bigb said. Midwife or doctor sticking fingers up you and having a swish around. Nice ! Not painful but uncomfortable like a smear.

I can’t remember if I had a sweep with my first. I think I did. She came at 41+6. For my second (also born at 41+ something) and this baby though (38+6) I did have sweeps. On both of these I’d already been having cramping for a few days before the sweep so there were already some signs.

MrsR1216 · 16/04/2019 16:01

Hi everyone!

I have been following this thread but not commented yet. My due date was 14/04 so now 40+2 with my third baby.

Has anyone been refused a sweep when overdue? At my last midwife appointment she said next time we will do a sweep, however having gone to my appointment today it was a different midwife. She said she couldn’t give me one as I’m consultant led and he hasn’t specified in my notes that I’m allowed one or not. Feel a bit disheartened as I was hoping it might get things moving.

Hope everyone’s doing ok and congrats to those who have had baby already!

Blgb · 16/04/2019 16:05

@MrsR1216 welcome to the club we are (were) due date buddies. I was also consultant lead but that didn't stop them giving me one. I would have been very annoyed with that (not that yesterday's sweep seems to have made a difference) phone the hospital or your previous midwife and tell them you want one!

littlehelp · 16/04/2019 17:52

I’ve just come back from midwife and they won’t perform one till 41 weeks unless I’m under consultant stupid really because with first baby they give them before 40 weeks 😡

Blgb · 18/04/2019 08:43

Morning everyone how are people doing? Any progress? I've got a stinking cold that's appeared from nowhere, just what I need to go into labour with. 2nd sweep today, see if that can move things along!

Sassenach85 · 18/04/2019 09:56

Had a proper random cry yesterday! TBH my first outburst Grin I am so fed up. I'm so much pain when baby moves and my bladder will never be the same again! Pain is so bad I almost called hosp but it's def when baby moves and not contractions

anonaon · 18/04/2019 10:32

@Blgb ditto had mine yest and I'm 2-2.5cm and v soft apparently so prob go this weekend .she managed a sweep . Ideally not today as I'm finishing my last piece of coursework for uni and want to do the kids bed sheets 😂 lol! I don't think baby cares though ha. Going to use the time wisely get the house organized few loads of laundry done maybe tint my eyebrows and wash my hair . Just be nice to not do anything when I come back . In strangely good form despite being overdue , my mood was horrific few weeks ago I mean really vile . Hope everyone is feeling ok! Xx

VixenAndCub · 18/04/2019 11:13

@Blgb
Ditto with the cold! I just woke up with one out of the blue, hope it disappears before labour... I'll sneeze the baby out otherwise.

I had another false alarm, starting to get frustrating and upsetting now. I just want this over with!
Seeing my consultant on the 24th, not that he ever looks me in the eye and actually helps.... Midwife never did make another appointment with me so no idea when I can try a sweep either. I just want my baby! 😣
