Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 13/05/2010 22:28

Yay for mini-magnums - they're half-price everywhere - they were half price this time last year.

flippinegg · 13/05/2010 22:29

Yay! Mini-Magnums!!!

(Am currently doing Sainsbo's online order, may have to add Magnums. I'm not even pregnant!)

SpangleMaker · 13/05/2010 22:30

Oh and also meant to say Tummum good luck at your assessment centre. Make sure you have a large glass of wine/beer/gin/whatever as soon as you get to your campsite and let your DH sort everything out.

SpangleMaker · 13/05/2010 22:32

Off to bed now - night all x

momino · 13/05/2010 22:38

ahhh, all of a sudden, everyone became so, so chatty. stop it! I'm trying to work and can't concentrate!

seven sisters (not mentioning the 4 brothers). all of us trying to get attention. all crammed into one bedroom. but oh, did we laugh. I loved laying in bed at night chatting with the 4 others Ishared the room with. before we fell asleep, we'd say 'goodnight, sorry'... for any wrong we may had done to the other that day.

it makes me happy to have three little ones who will hopefully be good friends as well as sisters.

gosh. getting no work done.

flippin, lol at the easter egg.

spangle, scan date, hurrah! will be here before you know it!

grump, gimme someofthat cheesecake. my favourite.

tumm, my DD1 says that to me as well. does break my heart and make me feel . try to remember that everyone does it. so, so many mums shout. it's not a happy feeling but you are human. and kids will remember the hugs as well.

belg, very, very funny about the Post Office scene.

off again. i'm going to be up very, very late.

momino · 13/05/2010 22:39

xposted - mini magnum!!!!

though not as lovely as the grumpy cheesecake...

flippinegg · 13/05/2010 22:51

I really should go to bed.

tummum - hope all goes well tomorrow!

momino · 13/05/2010 23:10

meant to say good luck to tummum tomorrow as well.

good night flippin and everyone.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 13/05/2010 23:11

Night all

momino · 13/05/2010 23:26

night John-Boy

HeadlessLadyH · 14/05/2010 07:35

Mini Magnums.....

Lemon cheesecake....

febes · 14/05/2010 07:46

Morning

Headless Fantastic news!! Do they know if the twins are identical or not?? I know my sister had to have 2 weekly scans after 18 weeks or something like that. So pleased for you. You definately deserve both cheesecake and mini magnums.

Tumum Good luck for today!

DCs woke at 5.30 this morning not sure what we are doing today but I need to clean and sort stuff out for Rs birthday and get a present for the boy I tutor who is 10 next week. Any ideas???? I'm thinking WH Smiths for inspiration.

HeadlessLadyH · 14/05/2010 09:28

febes they tell me they are non identical as they both have their own placenta, but there is a small chance that they could be identical. If the egg splits within 3 days, each part can implant and get its own placenta, but the liklihood is that they are non identical. I will have monthly scans after 20 weeks.

Re the CVS, its a test both DH and I want. I feel we have to know if there are problems with either or , god forbid, both. As we already have 2 children, we are not at all sure that it would be something we could deal with if there were problems. So we want to know.

The problem is that 4 weeks ago, the PCT changed their policy on maternal choice invasive testing. As our PCT now offer the combined test (NT scan and bloods) they have decided that they will no longer offer maternal choice invasive tests as their view is that the combined test is good enough. Apparantly the NT scan alone is now considered not good enough as too many false positives and negatives are produced.

Problem is that combined tests cannot be done for twin pregnancies as the blood test is unreliable. SO that leaves us in a bit of a grey area. The NT is now considered not good enough on its own, but the PCT will not offer me CVS.

We don't want the NT alone as with R we had terrible odds and those days waiting for the CVS results were nothing short of torture.

The fabulous consultant we saw has a Scan meeting today and is going to put our case to see if we can get a CVS. I have to go back next Weds and if we can have it we will do it then. If not, we may have to go private.

We have weighed up all the risks and this is what we want. Not everyone would do this, I know but with 2 children already to consider, we have to know what we are facing.

Serious part over. I need to try and not think about it till Wednesday!

tummum all the best today. And have a fabulous camping weekend.

Better go and get dressed, I suppose.....

Blottedcopybook · 14/05/2010 09:47

Morning all!

Headless I think I'd be the same in your circumstances. With G we had the option to have extra tests because of E's problems and we bit their hand off to take them - I don't think we'd have done anything if G had problems, but knowing what we were facing was a Big Deal.

Momino 12 kids?! My God, your parents must be amazing!

Did I tell you guys that I shaved my hair off?

Dandy Yes We have recently sold our house and will move at the end of june (all going well) We will then rent for a few months and leave the UK in Oct/Nov. Then spend Christmas in South Africa and arrive in NZ in January. Wee pasked the first 2 boxes today .

Your photos on FB are so cute. H is such a beautiful boy with that hair and those eyes.
Yum looking cake too.

Headless Hope they will let you have the tests. How annoying that you have to reley on certain policies that decide who gets what procedures. Non identical twins have less complications apparently as there is less chance of twin to twin transfusions.

pulapula · 14/05/2010 13:29

Headless - although i just had NT with my DCs (blood tests for DD and DS1, private scan for DS2) I think I would consider CVS if I was expecting any more (or twins) as I think it is good to know. I think if you have to go private, then it's worth it.

belgina- potty training is not going well, and am ready to call it a day if it doesn't get better (I feel I should give it a go as nursery have tried for 2 days). Today we had 2 loo trips when out with no wees, then full wee in trousers and i'd forgotten to pack the spare pants so i put him back in a nappy, then took it off when we got home (it was wet) and then whilst i was giving S lunch he weed on the lounge carpet . I am yet to see him wee on the potty/loo although nursery say he has done it a few times. He is now watching TV on the potty so we will see if there is anything in it soon. It is hard to be positive and not get cross about it, so think i will give it to the end of today and then delay again if no progress.

tummum- good luck in your interview.

pulapula · 14/05/2010 13:43

belgina- i meant to say I've ordered a gro anywhere blind from the "allbabyneeds" website (sorry too lazy to add a link)- they are £22.49 + P&P which is quite a good price and P&P doesn't increase for multiple items either so good if you want more than one.

pulapula · 14/05/2010 13:55

SOrry £23.49 belgina but still a good price as mine was about £28 including p&p. and should be here in a few days. Not sure it will stop Ss early morning wakeups, but worth a try. It's also great when we stay at my mums as her curtains are the thinnest curtains EVER.

Still no wee from DS1, either on potty or in pants . I think he does save them up and do really big ones judging by the puddles we've had to clean up

flippinegg · 14/05/2010 22:30

Blotted - wow, that's brave!

pula - not sure which is worse, ocasioanl big puddles or the constantly slightly dampness that DD1 does .

So that's the third bedtime done on my own, only 6 more to go!

I have (foolishly?) invited a friend and her kids round for lunch tomorrow. I have no idea what to feed them so will have to go shoping in the morning. And tidy the house a bit. Actually, I don't have to go mad cleaning though, she is my most 'relaxed' friend and her house is a lot like mine. I find it very reassuring!

Of to bed soon, one or both of the girls will be up in the night, I'm certain. Although A ate her own body weight in pasta this evening, so maybe she'll sleep longer?!

flippinegg · 14/05/2010 22:42

Sorry, hundreds of typos!

Good night!

belgina · 14/05/2010 23:17

Evening everyone.

Juspt popping in to say hello. Can't do mor than that in the state I'm in cos I can't seem to be able to type anymore. Looks like I missed a whole load of chat yeterday I could have done with a bit of chat too.

Went to a school fundraising fashions how thingy this evenign. It was good fun, but it looks like 2 glasses of vino and 1 of pimms (I'm pohs me) is too much for me to cope with os I'm off now

Night everyone. HOpe you all had a good day

FiByTheIcySea · 15/05/2010 01:26

just popping on for a quickie

We had a loooong flight over due to volcanic ash problems we were on the plane for 11.5hrs in the end! Anyhoo eventually we arrived and DH's aunt, cousin & her husband were waiting for us which was great. We stayed a few days with DH's cousin nancy etc before coming down here to the holiday 'cottage' in Digby yesterday. This house is HUGE (6 bedrooms, 3bathrooms, kitchen, lounge, dining room, play room, & verandah with gas barbecue if we fancy using it) The bedrooms have spectacular views over the bay of Fundy. i'll see if i can find a picture or 2... hey how about a web cam?! although all you'll see when you all get up in the morning is darkness as we're 4hrs behind you. I expect you're all well tucked up in bed and fast asleep by now..

Today we popped into the RDA people to make an appointment to get the ball rolling on our plans to move. Then afterwards we drove over to Bear River to meet Flora who I've been 'chatting' to who moved there from Toronto. After spending a lovely couple of hours with them we headed back into the village for some lunch at the local cafe and while we were eating lunch the fire department siren loudly sprang to life. After a few minutes the local volunteer firemen started arriving by car and on foot one by one to the fire station then off they all went in the 2 fire trucks. Major excitement for us but the locals didn't bat an eyelid.. either a fire or a car accident they said very matter of factly! Bear River was a lovely place to visit and everyone is so friendly & welcoming but I'm not sure whether it's for us.. DS would have to go to primary school by bus for starters.

Tomorrow we're off to the Annapolis Royal Saturday farmers market.. held at the historic gardens at the moment and maybe on to Bridgetown to pop into the local real estate agent. There are a few people i've been 'chatting' to there too.

So far I'm missing cadburys dairy milk and definitely the thought of those mini magnums has me salivating oh and on the first day we arrived.. so did my period so had to dash out to buy supplies as i only had panty liners with me..

Right off to bed for me as i'm fighting off a cold/cough .

have a lovely weekend everyone! toodlepip xoxox

FiByTheIcySea · 15/05/2010 01:29
