quiet on here, isn't it

For the 1st time in a long time, DH is putting DDs to bed, so I am enjoying the time off and MNing.

LadyH hope you have a lovely evening out. I felt movements much earlier with LOs 2 & 3, so it probably is them moving about. How exciting !

So, I have been invited back for final interview next Weds for the-job-that-I-don't-know-about. And I went for a different interview at a location near where I used to live, and have a second interview there next Friday. It's very exciting - I feel like I might actually have a way out. It's nice feeling a bit wanted as well. I've been feeling so down about work (I'm convinced I'm getting a bit depressed about it) I am hoping that this a turn around a corner. Of course, if I don't end up with any new job I shall be proper depressed !

Was thinking about Spangle - hope you are OK

Hello to everyone else. Sorry for being crap at NC-ing.

Hi Tummum- I've found you.

How exciting to have 2 job interviews lined up- sounds like you are in demand . Nice to have a rest whilst DH puts DDs to bed too.

febes · 06/05/2010 19:50

Heeelllloooo shiney new firstbirthdaythread.

Tummum I put DCs to bed ON MY OWN tonight while DH sat on his tod watching 20/20 cricket and then came down and cooked dinner ON MY OWN. However I will get my revenge as I'm going out with some girlfriends tomorrow night to a cocktail bar and I'm planning on getting embarrassingly drunk .

Sorry I've been missing in action again. I have been lurking but life has gotten very busy. R is so super cute, he talks loads, much more than DD did. He is cruising everywhere and then speed crawling. DD is doing lots of wee's in the potty so I need to plan a few days at home soon and put her in knickers full time. She is driving me mad and making me laugh in equal measure so I guess thats as good as can be expected.

Ses your new job sounds great. When do you start?

Headless My sister was definately showing earlier and feeling the babies move earlier with twins. Wow you are 11 weeks already!!

Spangle Hope you are going well and resting lots too.

Did everyone vote then???

muddleddaizy · 06/05/2010 19:56

Hello Tummum It's a bit quiet over here isn't it! Congrats on all your interviews. Hope something good comes out of it!

Dh is out all day at a polling station and I've got the boys in bed, so thought I'd come on here before I do the dishes & ironing. Am 1/2 watching a programme about conjoined twins, am going to be blubbing soon!!

Headless Hope you have a lovely night out and all the best for your scan next week!

Language we have another mammam, dadda here with a few other grunts and noises. It's hard not to compare children isn't it? I worry about ds2's height. Ds1 looks like he's going to be 6ft+ but ds2 seems so much smaller. There's nothing I can do about it - silly really!!

Llare had to chuckle at the sticklebricks downt he toilet! Ds2 is also really mischievious, he tried to climb the bookcase the other day and if he sees some wet wipes he just has to pull them out, with a cheeky grin on his face!!

Sausage hope today went well at work!

I've been reminiscing about last year! It's gone so fast. We are having ds2 dedicated on Sunday, his birthday and having family round.

Hope everyone else is well. Muddled waves wildly at Momino, Belgina, Flippin, Ses, Running and everyone else

muddleddaizy · 06/05/2010 20:00

Hi Febes and Pula

Good to hear about your dd potty training. Ds1 weed in the potty twice at the weekend, but still resists. [sigh]

I voted but ds1 thought I was boating!!! He got really upset on the way home as he wanted to know where the boats were!!

momino · 06/05/2010 20:38

Hi all, just checking in.
Febes, I'm out tomorrow for cocktails as well so will raise my glass to you!

Tumm, in demand indeed! that's impressive. as muddled said, I hope something good comes out of it.

belgina · 06/05/2010 21:22

I just did a nice long NC post and accidentially deleted it, sigh.

Anyhow. Tumm Thanks for the new thread and good luck with the job. Also: Coctails all around! Make mine a strawberry daquiri. I'm in a nostalgic mood

headless 11 weeks already!? How time flies. Lost and lots of sticky vibes your way from me too. I wouldn't be surprised if you felt these twins earlier. You'll definitely show earlier and... get bigger too

febes Have a great night out tomorrow. Your revenge shall indeed be sweet

muddled I've been thinking about this time last year too. How excited we all were. How many mini magnums were consumed... How chatty we all were... Aaaah... the good old days

Waving to llare flippin ses saus momi and anyone else I might have forgotten today.

flippinegg · 06/05/2010 22:30

Evening all! Lovely new thread, I'll have a mojito tonight please.

tummum - it must feel good to be in demand!

headless - wow, 11 weeks. Hope you have a ggod time when you go out.

febes - you have a fab time out too!

lol at mini magnums!

Things ok here, the girls seem to be properly over the pox, although A still looks scabby. A's walking hasn't really come to much yet - she's up to about 3 or 4 steps at a time but no more than that; I think the cp interrupted things because she was so poorly.

My neck is tolerable now. I keep thinking about going to the doctor, but then don't because I don't think they'll be able to do anything. I'm going back to the chiropractor on Monday (was supposed to go last week but had to cancel becaue of A being ill), and I'm seriously thinking of finding someone who who does deep tissue/sports massage to give it a good going over.

DH is going away with work next week . He's managed to work it so that he'll be here for A's birthday, but he flies the day after that and will be away for 9 days. I know it'll be ok really, but I hate it.

Has everyone who is allowed to voted? I want to know the results now!

belgina · 06/05/2010 22:38

flip Good to hear someone is going to have to have a look at your neck anyway. Hopefully the chiro gets to do something about it.

I went to the drs today. I've had this bout of thrush that just doesn't respond to treatment. It's been over a month now. Apparently I've got an ectropion on my cervix which might cause extra discharge etc. If there's no other infection then they'll refer me to gynae to remove it. Just got to wait for the swab results next week.

flippinegg · 06/05/2010 22:59

belgina - that sounds miserable, hope it gets sorted soon. I have (had?) ectropions too, about 10 years ago. They caused bleeding for a while, but it stopped so I didn't have them removed in the end. Do they go on their own, or would they still be there? Don't worry, not expecting an answer, just pondering!

ReeBee · 06/05/2010 23:13

hello flippin and belgina, am here just watching the results - with wine to numb the pain.

I struggle to understand how anyone who believes in the concept of the welfare state (regardless of personal circumstances) could ever vote Tory. Sigh. Just my personal PoV though, politics is a funny old thing.

I am also v shocked at the number of people unable to vote due to queues.

Flip, hope the chiro sorts out your neck and pleased the girls are feeling better.

belgina you poor thing, sounds rubbish. hopefully your results will be ok

F has just woken up, sigh. We are both full of cold. Poor baby! He's also now crawling on hands and feet (because knees are so last week, mummy)

ReeBee · 06/05/2010 23:14

Oh, and I'd like a classic champagne cocktail please. With a meths chaser.

belgina · 07/05/2010 09:17

I was watching the Alternative Election Night too. V. funny, but did have to go to bed before it finished in the end.

flip I was told I had an ectropion during my pregnancy with dd1 when I had some bleeding. It clearly never went. I googled them (v. naughty I know) and apparently they can cause heavy discharge and they are only removed when they're causing trouble. If that's what it is then I think I'd like it removed TBH. Being itchy down there for the last month or so is not very nice it comes and goes in terms of severity, but still. It drives me mad some days

reebee I totally understand your pov. I struggle with that one. I can't undertand why anyone would take e.g. the American health care system and think that's the way forward.
I'm thinking that maybe I should get in touch with my MP about my own right to vote. I wish I could having children and working in the NHS I think the government we get is very very relevant to me, more so than what happens in my own country.

We're going to a friend's house who's holding an open day today. I expect it to be quite a slingified meeting as it's a friend who up to a month ago owned a sling shop and she owns a slingy forum, lol. It'll be fun

HeadlessLadyH · 07/05/2010 09:26

Morning all.

So, things look no clearer this morning do they? Am v disappointed with the lib dem result though, but it will be interesting to see if they get some say in what happens next.

llare it could be wind. My god that is definately a problem at the moment, but hand on heart, I think its one or other or (fingers crossed) both of them moving.

reebee PMSL at F's monkey crawling!

tum so exciting about all your interviews. I am so sure you will get an offer somewhere.

flip please go and get your neck sorted especially if your DH is going away!!

belgina I feel your thrush pain. I used to get some form of thrush just before AF arrived and although it was only fleeting in comparison to yours, its a very uncomfortable condition.

febes have a fabby night out tonight. Please get horrifically drunk and leave your DH to do all the child care tomorrow too. Mwwwwwaahhhhaaaaahhhhhha.

Lovely night out. Lovely food. Squeezed (literally) in to the Orange Dress. I hate this stage of pregnancy. You don't look pregnant, just fat. You are too small for maternity clothes and bordering on too fat for your normal clothes. Everything just looks HORRIBLE.

BTW pula your weight loss was astounding!!! Really good work and you CAN DO IT AGAIN. If you only have a stone to lose, you can do it easily by just changing one thing be it running or not eating cake (oooh hark at me!!). That dress deserves to be worn!!!

flippinegg · 07/05/2010 12:03

Sorry, proud mummy moment! A walked across the bedroom this morning!!!!! And then did it again!! Up until today she'd managed 3 or 4 steps but nothing more.

headless - so did you tell your friends, did they guess, or is the secret still safe?

Election results interesting, hmmm. So do you think nothing much will happen now because no one will agree on anything?

runningmonkey · 07/05/2010 18:35

Hi all, very very busy week with work (impending ofsted aaaargh) so no time but am bookmarking to try a catch up later this weekend.

Mum's night out tonight with my local friends. Am looking forward to a glass of vino although may well fall asleep after one!

Hope all well xx

llareggub · 07/05/2010 18:39

Hurmph.

I am too miserable to speak. I have the election blues...

HeadlessLadyH · 07/05/2010 19:18

flip well done A! Thats an achievement. Friends didn't say anything to me but I did get the impression that I had been discussed when I went to the loo!

running ofsted. Yikes. Hope it goes well for you. I imagine its a stressful time?! Enjoy your glass of vino or five.

llare I am also the tories got the most seats but await the next installment with interest. I can't decide if a lib-con alliance is good or not. Good I think if electoral reform is on the cards, but otherwise not sure.

R is howling upstairs. He used to be so easy to settle at night. Not so anymore and we do nothing differently. Aaaaarrrrggghh. Hope its "just a phase". DS1 has fallen asleep on the sofa. He has nicked my place! Can't put him upstairs till R has shut up.

Reggiee · 07/05/2010 19:24

Llare tell me about it . Am with ReeBee - I really can't understand how anyone would vote Tory . I think I only know one person who voted blue. And probably my dad too if I think back to his political 'discussions' during the Thatcher era .

Hello everyone btw . Ta for the thread Tum.

Running have a lovely night out. I vomited last weekend due to excessive alcohol . Lightweight.

Flip well done A . B is miles away from walking and can barely put weight on his feet. We are a lazy family! His speedy bum shuffle is a sight to see though.

Headless another one curious to know if any of your friends twigged.

Belgina Grumpy we watched C4 last night. Too many ad breaks though, and kept switching manically to Sky and BBC. Stayed up well past midnight, but managed to struggle through today with the dc's.

Momi ta for reposting the birthdays. Can't believe there was a week's gap at this time last year (was obviously too wrapped up in own business to notice).

essenceofSES · 07/05/2010 22:12

Hello!

I've just finished wrapping up O's birthday presents
We've got him a Fireman Sam book, a Fireman Sam backpack (for nursery), a Jo Jingles doll and a light & sound remote control toy for the car.

His birthday is on Sunday and we're hoping for good weather as we've got about 20 people coming over for a bbq. DH's sister and aunt are flying over from Ireland for a few days too!

Bought him his first proper pair of shoes on Wednesday - some Geox ones, size 3. He really struggled to walk in them to begin with, bless him. He looked like he was marching whenever he tried. He's got used to them now and was walking around outside when we got home from nursery. He has no fear though and headed straight for the patio steps!

Tummum - thank you for the new thread! Can I have a belated cocktail?!

Running - hope you're enjoying your night out

Flipp - yay for A!!

Headless - how exciting to be feeling movements!

Febes - hope you're having a good night out. New job starts beginning of June (thanks for asking!) but have a training day on 20th May. I have to go to Nottingham for the day

muddled - I think out LOs share a birthday. Have you got anything planned?

saus - hope work went ok.

election - I voted Lib Dem in the end but this constituency is so Tory, I felt like I couldn't really make a difference. Tory got 53% of the vote, Lib Dem came second with 23%. I wish they'd get on and sort it out now. I'm getting fed up with the repetitive news bulletins.

Hello everyone else - momi , pula , spangle , Belgina

belgina · 07/05/2010 22:31

Evening all

headless Lol at your friends discussing you behind your back. I can imagine a sudden silence followed by an awkward change of subject when you returned from the loo

R's difficult nights reminds me to warn everyone that a developmental growth spurt is on the cards and that from around now (51 weeks according to my book) our babies can once again be grumpy, clingy, sleep badly etc...

I would carry on, but DH went to bed early to prepare for work overnight and it sounds like he disturbed C and she's murmuring. I better go and sort her out before she keeps him awake for any longer.

BTW, I was horrified I discovered DH was a big admirer of Thatcher AND that he voted Tory after I had already lived with him for a good few years. I come from a socialist party family so I felt physically sick when I heard. I've got over it now though

belgina · 07/05/2010 22:32

I meant to say goodnight to everyone who wasn't NC'd.

llareggub · 08/05/2010 00:16

Belgina I am laughing hysterically at your description of the development milestone thingy. We've definitely been through that in the last week or so.
