Belgina Grin, actually, i may have had a glass of wine when I was on MN last night. hope the AP has arrived by now!

in any case, the going-to-school thing has also made me quite emotional, i feel like crying or hugging all the time.

febes are you still lurking? I've seen news on the imminent move on FB - hope we can still keep in touch despite the time difference.

Fi, don't you worry keeping in touch, I'll still be awake and working when you're in the middle of your day.

going to do some quick work whilst dd2 is watching cbeebies and H is asleep.

Hope everyone is well.

febes · 10/09/2010 15:15

Hi Momino I'm still lurking but haven't been able to get on. I did actually come on and type a really good NC a few weeks ago but it got lost in cyberspace and then life took over again.
Fi and Momi Glad back to schoolies have gone well. I loved the pics on FB.
Envy of the PGs and TTC. I have lots of RL friends PG at the moment too. Congrats to Running. DH and I have decided we definately want a 3rd DC but not till we are settled in NZ so probably at least another year away.
Belgian I love my MaiTei but R is quite heavy so can't carry him for too long. I tried around Kew Gardens on wed and nearly died by the end. Hope your new AP arrived and settles in quickly for you.
Ses Your kitchen is really coming on I bet you can't wait to move in there.
Meet ups sorry I didn't get round to it (we never made it up to York either) Time has just run out maybe you will all need to come for a holiday in NZ. Seriously though there's always a bed and kiwi hospitality if you ever come down south- with the possiblilty of earthquakes though!! My family are all fine after the quake but the aftershocks keep coming so everyone is really unsettled.

Well we leave on Monday so we are very excited now. Our car is for sale on Ebay and has a few hours to go then its just packing left to do.
I'll be lurking until we resettle with the odd post and hopefully a few photos on FB to make everyone jealousWink.

belgina · 10/09/2010 23:14

Hi everyone,

Yes, the ap has arrived safe and sound. She's very helpful so far and doesn't seem to be the homesick kind of person. Maybe it's because she's Swedish? Swedes always strike me as quite independent kind of people.

febes Good luck with your move. This is getting very exciting for you now. I would like to think that one day we'll make it to your part of the world, but I don't think that would be any time soon ;).

I think R will feel heavy, because your muscles haven't done the weight training mine have done from carrying C from early on. Somehow she only seems a teeny weeny bit heavier than before, even though she's 13kg by now Shock I even carried her around London for a whole day last week with minimal side effects. Also different brands make a huuuge difference. I've got 2 expensive, but solid MT's.

fi I'm sure we'll all still be able to keep in touch when you've made your big move :)

Hope all the pregnancies are progressing nicely :)
Night everyone else

llareggub · 11/09/2010 00:06

Evening all!

I haven't been on for what seems like an age.

We had a lovely holiday and can't wait to go back to Pembrokeshire. I highly recommend Bluestone, it was fab. DS2 is now walking very well with no crawling now and I'm sure it was the Welsh sea air. Wink

I'm back in work next week (sob) and we're now back to talking seriously about baby number 3.

I'm watching Ultimate BB tonight and feeling a little teary. I've been watching it for 10 years and have texted or watched it with my best friend and it seems so sad it has come to an end. Not that we've watched it much for the last few years, we've only done the opening night but still. It is the friendship aspect I think.

JUst like this thread. You're all marvellous.

Tummum · 11/09/2010 12:22

Hello all Grin

I haven't been on for ages either. DH has been away for aaaages so I have been either looking after all 3DC on my own or recovering from looking after them whilst they are asleep.

The move to sanfran is very much up in the air. Last week it was all go, but this week I am getting really cold feet. At the moment someone is looking around our caravan to see if they want to buy it Sad and that's really bringing it home to me that I don't want to go. But DH does. So that's going to be an interesting conversation... Hmm

Hope all of the pregnancies are going well.

Momi so glad DD1 is enjoying school. My DD2 starts in 2 weeks (staggered start) and she just can't wait. Bless her. I know I'm going to bawl when I see her in her uniform.

Belgina Hope the AP works out for you. IKWYM about Swedes being quite independent.

Llare I was watching BB last night too, and despite not watching the last couple of series, I felt quite upset about it finishing.

Febes good luck with the move

Fi how's your Dad?

Sorry everyone else that I've forgotten / missed.xx

momino · 12/09/2010 21:51

llare, funny, I was thinking about you yesterday how I haven't 'seen' you for awhile. glad you are well and have had a good holiday - good to see you again Smile.

Belgina, good luck with the new AP.

Febes, good luck with the move and let us know how you are when things have settled down.

Tumm, I'm not surprised you have doubts about such a move: new country, new culture...it's a huge step and an overwhelming decision to make. I hope you and DH can talk about it and work out together what is best for you all. sending you a supportive hug!

Fi, where are you tonight Grin?

heavy babies, H is huge and feels too heavy to carry, I've started letting her walk a bit more. She weighs about 22lbs (can't calculate the kilo right now) just a little under what my skinny dd2 weighs. It's funny that she feels almost as heavy as my 3 year old!

hope everyone is well.

essenceofSES · 12/09/2010 22:00

Hello!! NCA please!

Things have been too busy here - PIL visit, followed by brother's wedding, followed by SIL and nephew visit all in the middle of kitchen extension and teething troubles again with the usual work thrown in make for one v tired Ses!!

Momino and Fi - so pleased for you that your little ones have settled in so well at school :)

Belgina - hope new AP works out well

Tummum - go easy on yourself as it sounds like you've had a v intenxe few weeks! I can understand why you are hesitant about moving to SF. Even if it sounds fantastic, there's practicalities and the realism of what it would actually be like. I'm sure if you and DH talk it through you'll reach the right decision. Good luck!

Febes - I've been thinking of you. Hope the trip to SA goes really well!

Llare - glad you all had a good holiday!

Hello anyone else lurking :)

smokeybacon · 13/09/2010 20:36

Oh FFS. Just typed a long post. Pressed the wrong button and its gone.

So instead, will just wave and say hello and will do another one when I am less grumpy. Have been really grumpy all day and losing that post DID NOT help.

Love you all.

runningmonkey · 13/09/2010 20:53

Hiya,

Smokey I'll join you in a grump. I feel like poo and have got ridiculous amounts of work to do so instead am on here. Am also feeling a bit sorry for myself as for the last couple of weeks I have hideous asthma which I haven't had in several years. I had to get an emergency Dr appt this morning as I really couldn't breathe last night. It wierdly seems connected to the pregnancy but helpfully Dr told me that it usually asthma and allergies get better with pregnancy so he doesn't know what's going on with me Hmm. Anyway, I am now inhalered up and so hopefully won't get as bad as I did last night.

febes if you are reading - hope the move goes well. I am so excited for you x

llare glad you had a good hol. I've bookmarked that site for future ref, looks fab

tum how's the bruise today?

ses sounds like you've got loads on, not surprised you are tired.

belg hope the ap is working out.

Fi and momi so glad the start of school went well for you all. Loved the pics on FB, Kids look so cute in new school uniforms - our year 7's in school always look so sweet when they first start... usually lasts about half a day!

Hello to everyone else, hope all is well with everyone.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 13/09/2010 21:11

Awww Running so many congratulations!!! So thrilled for you.

Hope everyone is ok, too much crap going on in RL for me to really post. We moved back to York though. Yay we are home!! Had real problems sorting Dd1 school out and DD2 has turned into hideous beast with horrendous temper. S is fabulous Grin

I must try and get on again and post properly

xxx

pulapula · 13/09/2010 21:20

Hi ladies,

I have been lurking on MN but not posted as seem to spend more time on FB. Love seeing all your news on there.

tum- still can't believe you posted your bottom on FB Grin but that was a seriously bad bruise. Not surprised you are having second thoughts about a move to the US of A - it's a big step.

llare glad you had a nice hol. Your DSs really are the most beautiful boys and are really similar - love their hair Smile.

febes- can't believe you'll be off soon. Hope all goes well and hope you will still come on MN and keep in touch from the other side of the world.

running and Ses - hope you feel a bit less tired soon and glad you got your inhaler running.

Hi to anyone I've missed.

Well my news is that I have decided to stop BF. DS2 is sleeping so well in the mornings that he often doesn't wake until 7.30 so there just isn't time for a shower and a BF before the school run. So I went down to 1 feed a day and then decided to stop altogether on Friday, partly because I am worried how he'll be when DH and I go away in a few weeks, and partly because i stopped my minipill 3 weeks ago to consider TTC and still no periods and previously they haven't come back until i've stopped BF. He hasn't asked for a feed and doesn't seem to mind so it seemed like a good time to stop. I am still feeling full but not engorged.

Oh and also I decided to try toilet training DS1 again now he's 3.3 and after a few accidents on day 1 and 2, he was dry all day today until teatime, including 2 one-hour car trips Smile. Unfortunately the trip home involved a car accident Shock when some young boys went into the back of DH, DS1 and DS2 when they were stationary waiting to turn right. They all seem OK thank goodness but DH was really shook up thinking about it.

pulapula · 13/09/2010 21:35

x-posts grumpy - hellloooooo - sorry to hear you've been having a tough time.

Also meant to say belgina - how's C now - has she got over her clinginess? S is a bit better. At least I can leave his bedroom and he chats and takes himself off to sleep rather than bawling his eyes out. I still have difficulty leaving the room though or passing him to someone else Hmm.

llareggub · 13/09/2010 22:10

running I get odd breathing problems when I'm pregnant too, and I'm not asthmatic. It happened in my first and second pregnancy and I ended up being monitored quite a bit towards the end. I was even fitted with a heat monitor for 24 hours because I had weirdo palpitations too. One thing that did come to light (and I can't remember whether the breathing thing and the palpitations were connected) but low iron was flagged as a factor. Has your iron been tested? Anyway you have my sympathies because it is horrid.

Bluestone it was AMAZING and perfect for a family break. We're going to book to go back in December, hopefully.

pula thanks for your comment about the boys. Obviously I think they are the most handsome boys ever but it is lovely to hear others say so too.

Grumpy I was thinking about you just the other day and wondering how you are. Great to "see" you again.

Tummum that was indeed a spectacular bruise and I was similarly impressed that you posted your bottom on t'interweb.

Smokey I hope you have a better day tomorrow.

febes I wonder if sexybuilder could make a return visit for a leaving party for you? You must be feeling so excited right now.

Hello to anyone I've missed (momino, reggiee, ses, belgina, fi, blotted); I've been out this evening to a support group I run for the carers of alcoholics and addicts and I am exhausted after being in work all day. I will come back tomorrow and catch up properly.

FiByTheIcySea · 13/09/2010 23:17

popping in to wave hello on phone & grabs NCA as i've been trying to get the laptop off dh to do the typing up of my knitting patterns.. but he's needed it to do stuff for our NS applications. dh watched american footie last night so I got cracking.. still a load to do and then some. My mum is away in aberdeen visiting her sister so i've been off visiting my dad a lot who has started to settle into his new nursing home. he's looking better than he's done in a long time . hope you're all having a good night and a well deserved rest after the usual busy monday xoxox

runningmonkey · 14/09/2010 18:37

Fi glad your Dad is doing well. Sounds like you've got loads on as usual :)

llare thanks for letting me know that, its reassuring IFYKWIM. I haven't had my booking in appt yet so will be sure to get my iron done when I see the mw on Sat.

grumps how is DD1 getting on in her new school? Was thinking of her last week as I taught my lovely year 8 and hoping she has met some nice friends by now. Nice to see you are finally settled back in York. Hope DD2 resumes normal non-tantrummy service shortly.

pula scary about thecar crash, so glad everyone was ok, if shaken. Well done to DS1 (and you) on the potty training. Hope you feel ok about the bf. I don't want to scare you but I remember having a pretty hideous hormonal couple of weeks just after I stopped bf and got my first period, but didn't make the connection between the moods and why it might be... really hope you don't feel like this but thought you might like a heads up just in case!

Right better go and start dinner before I am required for bedtime story reading... hope everyone is ok

Tummum · 16/09/2010 20:03

Hey ladies. Blimey, it's quiet on here these days... we're all far too busy with real life!

I'm popping on for a bit of a winge and blatent request for sympathy. I fell over quite heavily last friday and got a loverly bruise on my bum as a result which you will have seen on FB. Well, it's now more painful than ever so went to Drs today. Apparently it's re-bled under the muscle = much ow-ness. And to add insult to injury there is potential that it will turn into an abscess. It's really flipping painful and I am really hoping that the shivers I am having are NOT indicative of anything. Was bad enough going to the Drs to have a look at the bruise, let alone any drainage type of activity in that general area. Owch Sad

Grumps glad the move is all over and you are 'home' at last

Pula scary biscuits about the crash. Glad it wasn't any worse. Hope the giving up BFing is going OK... I reckon good excuse for buying some new undies Grin

Llare holiday sounds blissful

Fi glad your Dad is on the mend and settling in. Loved the alphabet squares, you are a talented lady

Smokey how are you doing? Not long now

Running how's the breathing. Have you thought about trying Spatone? It's an iron supplement that I found brilliant (couldn't handle the iron tablets - they made me vom). Might be worth getting yourself on them before the m/w appt

Belgina how's the ap going?

Ses no wonder you are tired. Hope you have had some time for resting since your last post

Gotta go - small child calling me from the top of the stairs

belgina · 16/09/2010 21:36

Hi everyone,

Just had a quick catch up and can't believe it's been nearly a week since I last came on here. Time just flies! TBH I've been working nights, showing the new ap around, had another daytrip to London with said new ap, painted some new DIY shelves, did plenty of housework, had visitors and tried to sleep during the day at some point too.

Thanks for asking about the ap. She's really lovely. Very helpful and active. She's forever going out for walks on her own or sitting in the park reading a book, rather than sitting around the house looking glum like the last 2. She's eager to get about and doesn't mind cycling 3 miles to the train station, so that's great. I can also have some lovely chats with her that I didn't get with the last 2 AND best of all: the dcs like her too. Especially dd1, who is in awe of the ap's style and many bottles of nail varnish in a variety of shades Grin

llare Sounds like you had a lovely holiday. It's always Sad going back to work after a lovely relaxing time.

pula Scary about the crash, but thankfully everyone is OK. Sounds like you're stopping bf at the right time. It's a lot less traumatic to stop when lo stops asking for milk. It seems more natural IYKWIM. I think it should make your upcoming trip less traumatic too :)

grumpy Hope things have settled down and that you're enjoying your new home in York. It's always nice to come home :)

smokey How are you now? You deserve a good grump when preg with twins.

running How's your asthma? As far as I'm aware conditions like asthma and allergies can go either way in pregnancy. They often get better, but in some people they get worse. I second the Spatone. It's very gently on the stomach, I could even tollerate it in the 1st trimester and it definitely kept my own iron level stable (I did a little scientific experiment on myself while pg before starting to recommend it to my women Wink)

febes Have a good move, good flight, good everything. Looking forward to you coming back online and telling us all about the big move

tumm Ouch. I saw that bruise. I hope it doesn't turn into anything that needs draining. Has the GP prescribed anything stronger for pain relief? Have you tried some arnica cream? That always works miracles with bruises. I hope you work out a solution with regards to a move to Sanfran. How about a temp trial move to see how you like it? Not sure if that's a possibility in your situation.

fi Glad your dad's getting better. Must be such a worry to have ill parents.

Talking about big babies. I was looking in the Mothercare catalogue the other day and realised that my buggy is only supposed to hold dcs up to 15kg... C is 13kg (29lbs)... At this rate she'll grow out of it before she's walking independently, lol.

Hi to everyone not NC'd. Hope everyone's well.

pulapula · 16/09/2010 22:08

Belgina- glad everyone is loving the new AP. My friend has a new one, and is so happy with her compared to her last. She said the DCs didn't even ask after her or miss her when she left and she'd been with them nearly a year. I have no idea what S weighs although i'm sure it's not 29lb Wink although you may find C stops gaining when she gets more and more mobile.

I think it was a good time to stop BF and don't really miss it, apart from when S is giddy before bed and could do with calming down. I am planning to get new undies once i'm sure my boobs are no longer full. I am just hoping now that i don't get my first period whilst DH and I are on our trip away Hmm.

tumm - owwwch - you poor thing. But I really think you should go back to the GP if the pain/shivers don't go as it sounds serious.

fi- glad to hear your dad seems in good spirits.

momino · 16/09/2010 22:23

hi all.
how long is it taking us to get this last 40 some posts to the next thread? Grin
I must say sometimes fb seems an easier place to catch up, MUCH easier to NC there.

tumm, The Bruise - ouchy. doesn't look fun and I'm sad that it's got a bit worse for you. I really hope it clears up soon for you.

Belgina, so glad the AP is working out. She sounds great.

Fi, glad your dad is a bit better. how are your NS applications going? sounds so long-winded.

Pula, very scary about the car crash - glad all are ok.

Running, hope you're breathing easier!

Ses, hope you're ok. when is your kitchen extension finished?

Smokey, bump pics please!

Hi llare, sounds like you're so busy as well.

I saw grumpy for a quick coffee and chat today. her S is so gorgeous and has a great sense of humour. she always looks like she's planning the next joke Grin. it's so nice to live near one of us on this thread.

I'm just at work right now. can you tell? I really don't work efficiently at this time. in fact I've spent more time on FB, MN and youtube. it's just that I'm borrrreed .

to those I've not NC-ed big hello! hope everyone is well.

essenceofSES · 18/09/2010 21:53

Hello everyone!

Tummum - you have my sympathies. My bruise last month was only about a third of the size of yours and that was painful enough, nevemind with the rebleeding you've had. Hope it heals quickly now for you.

Pula - well done on smoothly stopping BF. I keep thinking about it but not made any steps yet. O only feeds morning and bedtime and I enjoy it on the whole but wold be nice to get my body back for a bit too!

Belgina - your AP sounds great! Really pleased for you :)

Running - hope your MW appointment was good. What's your due date?

Fi - glad your Dad is settling in ok. Food enjoyment is always a good sign!

Hello grumpy , Momino , Llare and anyone else I've missed!

We've just been really busy still and O has either a virus or really bad teething related cough/runny nose. He keeps waking up coughing poor thing! GP has given me a standby prescription for antibiotics incase it turns green or he gets a temperature. I've got his room well vaporised with a plug in menthol and eucalyptus thingy. He has been suffering with teething but we now only have 4 more teeth to get!

I've also got my new car from work. It's a toyota prius and arrived with just 5 miles on the clock! I love it but it is a bit strange to drive as it's a hybrid so switches between using petrol and electricity automatically and has an automaic gearbox. I also can lock/unlock and start the engine without taking the key out of my pocket! As long as I have the key on me, I can touch a sensor on the door handle to lock/unlock and just press the power button to start the engine! I think I'll have to drive DH's car every so often so that I remember how to drive a "normal" car!!

Tomorrow we have my parents coming round for a meal. I'm cooking a roast in my new kitchen for the first time :) The kitchen isn't completely finished yet but it's almost there - just need tiles on the walls and floor and some painting. I've got a leg of lamb to roast and then going to do bread and butter pudding. Think I'll be like a beached whale by the evening!

Right I've waffled enough! Hope you're all having great weekends :)

febes · 19/09/2010 08:34

Hi we are in SA (NCA please!)and have had a stressful start to our holiday trying to get set up with Dhs bank account and internet and stuff like that. Africa not the easiest place to get things done. DH needs a new passport and police check for his NZ residency so not looking forward to getting them!!
We have found a couple of brilliant campervans and had some test drives and I love them all so we just need to make a decision and we should be on the road in a week or 2. We will probably get a 1970s auto villa so loads of character.
Better go but I'll be back when I can!

pulapula · 19/09/2010 13:23

febes - hope you can relax and enjoy your holiday soon. Can't believe you're in SA but it's great we can chat from the other side of the world.

ses- new car sounds fun. I've had push button ignitions in hire cars before, which i found strange - doesn't seem "right" without a key IYSWIM. I noticed Owen had loads of teeth in one of those recent photos on FB! S has his first set of molars but then only 6 incisors and no canines so a real gap between the two.

Well the news here is that my period has arrived- not sure if it was coming off the minipill or stopping bf that did it (or both) but it was a bit of a shock alhough i have been mega grumpy and arguing with DH this week so i should have known really.

And my other news is that i have a new niece, born on Wednesday Smile and we are hopefully off to see her this afternoon. She was taken back into hospital yesterday as her weight had fallen 11 per cent but it just seems silly to me when they are only getting colustrum for the first 3-4 days so it's to be expected surely?

belgina · 19/09/2010 21:18

Hi everyone,

febes How nice to "see" you. Hope you're enjoying your stay and tour in SA by now. How exciting is all of this?!

pula (subdued) Hurrah for the return of the periods. Congrats on your new niece :) We (as in us health professionals Wink) Expect babies to lose weight and up to 10% is acceptable over that they like to step in. It depends a teeny weeny bit on the mw too as some mws might look at the whole picture and think that overall the baby is doing fine and leave it at that, with a little extra support off course, while other mws will admit straight to hospital.

ses C's very snotty too, but she's got the very same cold both me and the ap have got as well. All 3 of us started at the same time oddly enough. We must have picked it up in the same place Hmm Friday night was a nightmare as she started having a blocked nose later in the afternoon and we didn't have any vaporub in the house so she woke every half an hour throughout the night with this panicky cry because she couldn't breathe. Yesterday she was vaporubbed all day and night and was much much better, phew.
Nice to hear that your new kitchen is nearly finished. It's lovely to cook in a new kitchen, isn't it :)

teeth C's got near enough all now too. She's got 4 molars and all her canines and incisors. Cruelly enough she had her 4 molars and 4 canines come through at exactly the same time over the summer :(

Thanks for the messages about the ap. She is actually really really lovely and the 1st (!) of all our au pairs (6 years worth of them) who has removed and replaced a full binliner! Twice! How great is that!

Right off to Next online to get myself a lovely nice coat. I've got my eye on this one Hope it's still in stock. Grin

momino · 19/09/2010 23:10

Very cheery hello to you all.
Nearly off to bed. Just got a little work done after a long day out: we'd been to The Deep at Hull and had a great time. The girls love fish so seeing the huge deep tanks of them were amazing and there was a good little soft play area which added to the amusement.

Febes, hope you can enjoy your holiday soon - sounds amazing! hope to hear from you again soon during your travels.

Ses, hope O is feeling a bit better soon. H is also very snotty, coughing (I can hear her now), teething. bless them. Also very excited about your cooking in the new kitchen - hurrah!

Pula, boo for your period arriving with the moodiness (but means you can ttc?Wink). hurrah for your new niece arriving, lovely news and hope mum and baby are well (and at home!).

Belgina, stunning coat - did you get it? also Grin at your AP changing the bin liner, surely that's a good sign she's the right one (Grin again).

hello to everyone else and good night!
