Here you go ladies...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hello Fi
New bras sound fantastic :) I really should clear out my underwear drawer...
Glad your dad is progressing but it must be very difficult thinking about what the next step is for him. Has he ever spent time in respite care in a residential home? Just wondered whether he and your mum had had a taster IYKWIM.
Hope the viewing is a success. Was talking to my friend on PEI the other day and made me think of you

belgina · 27/08/2010 23:05

speech C just calls anyone baba. Usually it means me, but it can by dh. She's still not saying understandable except for baby, but she clearly understands a lot. She's actually babbling away non stop, with hand gestures and intonation and she sounds like she's telling long stories, but it's all still jibberish. Funny to watch her though. I really need to film her before it's too late.

fi Your bras sound lovely, especially the swashbuckling one Wink

ses I went to a post wedding hen night once (bride was pregnant pre wedding Grin) and we just had a meal too, but with a truth or dare type quiz included, iirc and we decorated the hen's chair.

FiByTheIcySea · 27/08/2010 23:20

just spotted previous pages posts.. G is the same wrt words & speaking not much atm.. she signs a bit though

momino · 28/08/2010 09:13

morning all! catchingup post by post...

Pula, you'll have seen my message on FB... would love to see you and K next week! how was your day with all 3?

Belgina, so sorry about the trouble with the AP. it's a shame because it seemed like she was good with the children (at least at first?). HOpe you find the next one easily.

Flip! I haven't seen your FB status and can't believe you're moving so quickly. Good luck! hope it all runs smoothly and stress free Smile.

Fi, good luck with your viewings. You make house-cleaning sound so easy! I must declutter ours. someday.

Ses, no good ideas for the hen do but I went to a restaurant for mine and the Italian waiters (used to hen do's at their restaurant) brought out a pudding afterwards with a banana, whipped cream, cherries and my friends made me eat the banana without cutlery. silly, really. maybe bring balloons and have other people bring silly jokey gifts appropriate for a hen do?

Blotted, WHERE do you find the time for your business? I, too, am impressed at all the activity happening. sounds fabulous and makes me want to start knitting. Always wishing you the best!

talking, H says the usual byeee/byebye, hiyee/hiya!dada, mama, dada (for India), dada (for Saskia), and a gutteral ungh for George. new words are: cracker, get down and is starting to repeat things after us. it makes me laugh when i compare with her sisters - our dd1 in a month's time was saying 'ostentatious'! (she repeated everything).

my favourite though is when I sing the first part of 'wheels on the bus' and, no matter where she is in the house H will answer 'round and round', though to an outsider it sounds like rahrahrah Grin.

she's also been climbing DOWn the stairs (we don't have a stairgate on the top), shakes the gate at the bottom till it opens (it's old)and lets herself out! I suppose it's good that she can get down safely but I do try to watch her. she does escape, though.

ok, time to go. I/laws coming today. work on the house, shopping to do, dd2's birthday tomorrow so cakes to bake and house to decorate!

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Blottedcopybook · 28/08/2010 10:19

Pula - I really wouldn't worry about speech, it's still very early and if Sam's making noises in general that's a Good Thing.

I was chatting to someone about this the other day, I think sometimes we can get ourselves in a bind about what our kids are or aren't doing. Take a wee step back and look at what they are managing - for me, Greer was a late walker but a good sleeper. Her speech is lots of babbles with a few words recognisable but she's still got a high separation anxiety. They can't be good at absolutely everything ;)

Thanks for all the good thoughts with the business. It is good and I am enjoying working for myself but dealing with bankers is just making me utterly miserable. Ugh!

FiByTheIcySea · 28/08/2010 12:43

well they've just left.. lets hope they loved it!! momino i just finished the cleaning, tidying and de-toysrus minutes before they arrived and that's with dh's help doing the kitchen! have been a bit of a slattern wrt hoovering n esp dusting over the hols Blush H needs to teach G how to safely get down.. she's driving me nuts still with her quick as lightning climbing up maneuvers but not quite remembering feet first down maneuvers Arrrgh!

FiByTheIcySea · 28/08/2010 13:02

knew I should have refreshed before posting! blotted you have full commisserations about the business banking.

momino · 28/08/2010 13:50

on the speech front again, PUla, Ishould have said - dd1 was really slow speaking. she didn't really say any coherent words till she was two. I'd got a bit worried but otherpeople reassured me they're all different. sure enough, she's a chatterbox now at age 4! blotted is right, it's very early.

momino · 28/08/2010 15:41

note: i'd embarassingly posted about speech without reading Pula's query Blush. they all get to the same place in the end. I remember being really Envy about other babies taking steps when H had no desire. She eventually caught up Smile.

pulapula · 28/08/2010 20:27

Momino- it's good to know what all the other LOs are doing. I think DS1 was slow and didn't say much til he was 2 although i was worried about him too as he never did the "pretend talking" that DD had done. It just feels like DS2 has forgotten some of the words he has learnt (clock, what's that, dog). So he literally does just have the 3 words i listed. He doesn't say bye but waves/kisses instead but i think DS1 was like this too. He does have other socialising skills too so i am probably worrying over nothing. The other day DD and DS1 were in hysterics about something, and he joined in on the "joke" Smile.

fi- hope you get some offers on your flat soon.

blotted - I am amazed at how you cope with 4 DCs and a new busines venture. I had a look at your website and saw some of the beginners knitting kits- i think it was scarves for DCs. I have never knitted before - do you think i'd be ok with it?

Blottedcopybook · 28/08/2010 21:38

Pula - definitely! The kits are lovely and definitely geared to beginners :)

Hello Dandy Grin I like the very classy hen suggestions btw. I have to admit to my managing to avoid having a hen do both times!! . for my bf who did want a hen night but was pregnant

FiByTheIcySea · 29/08/2010 00:20

oops Blush rambled on a bit.. think it's time for bed.

belgina · 29/08/2010 21:29

Oooh, It's been quiet on here tonight.

Hi dandy Love your classy hen do suggestions too. Sadly I think most of us immediately go down the kitchy, raunchy path, while it could just as well be as classy as what you and fi suggested.

Very exciting events today: Claire took 3 steps!!! and the ap situation is being eased thanks to a lovely ex ap of mine. Why can't all my aps be like the 1st lot we had. Ever since 2008 they've not been up to much. I wonder what I'm doing wrong Hmm

Also got some puzzling spots going on with DS. It started on our hols. The GP thought he'd had a few infected insect bites, so we got some cream. The crusty spotty rash spread, so back to GP. This time we got oral ABX. They seemed to have done the trick. As soon as he startd them no new spots, the course finished on Tues, but then today the poor boy complained about pain under his arm pits and there they were: new of the same spots. I checked his body and he's got loads of new ones! So back to the GP we will go tomorrow. It's just so odd, they look a bit like chickenpox but bigger, but he's had chickenpox before and he's not ill, IYSWIM. No fever or feeling unwell or anything like it. Just a mysterious rash...

Sorry, a bit memememe today, but sometimes that's what a girl needs. A bit of mememe-ing Grin I think it's cos DH isn't home, it's too late to phone home and the ap has hidden in her room, so I've got no one to talk to but you. And you're imaginary anyway Grin

essenceofSES · 29/08/2010 21:45

Hello!!
Dandy - great suggestion, thanks! Will do a little notebook with quotes in I think and also a chocolate champagne bottle from Thorntons and a couple of balloons for the back of her chair.

Belgina - yay for C and her 3 steps! What a releif that your old AP has stepped in temporarily. Hope you get to the bottom of DS's spots - v puzzling.

Momino - looks like DD2 had a great birthday :)

Hello Blotted, Pula, Fi and anyone else lurking!

FiByTheIcySea · 29/08/2010 22:15

just been watching vexed on bbc2.. it makes me both laugh and cringe!

belgina sorry about ds's strange rash.. hope you manage to get a solution to the spots soon x and big YAY!! to C and her first 3 steps!! Grin good news about your previous ap coming for a while too. i'm sure it's not you that is different.. just bad luck so far.
waves back to ses and anyone else around!

pulapula · 29/08/2010 23:13

Hi ladies,

belgina- your DSs spots sound very strange. Hope you get to the bottom of it soon. And glad your old AP can help you out.

hen nights - I had one on the same night as DH had his stag and we all met up at a club after a meal out, as he didn't want a proper stag. My friends brought flower garlands for everyone and i had to wear a coconut bra but could have been much more embarrassing Smile. I was also very poorly in the night club toilets Blush.

FiByTheIcySea · 29/08/2010 23:17

just spotted a banner on MN which has made my day.. H&M go online on sept 16th Grin no more trailing to cribscauseway to get marvel and star wars clothes for DS!

FiByTheIcySea · 30/08/2010 00:27

not shopped in ZARA but they are going online too as of the 2nd sept.. what are they like?

llareggub · 30/08/2010 11:16

Oooooooh, with Zara going online I may never go shopping in a proper shop again! Though having said that, Zara's sizes are weird and I am anything from a small to a large there. I generally ignore the label and look at the item. I love, love, love Zara.

Just a quick post from me as I am exhausted. Up all night with DS2 as he was sick everywhere. He seems absolutely fine today, just tired. To top it all off he fell out of our bed this morning, too.

Great to see you on here again Dandy.

I have no advice re hen-dos as I always avoid them. I hate dressing up, "jokes" and comedy fruit. I know that I am very grumpy.

We're off to Pembrokeshire on Friday to here. DS1 is very excited by the pool and we are looking forward to a few days away at last. Even better, I have 2 weeks off work.

momino · 30/08/2010 11:34

Just a quick one: Happy Bank Holiday to everyone! Hope you're relaxing or doing something fun.

Belg, well done, C!
llare, your holiday to Pembr looks lovely (Envy).

Fi, am really happy about online h&m/Zara shopping and will defn have a look.

Dandy, lovely to see you back on here, btw.

Hi Pula and anyone else who's around and lurking.

Thanks to all for the FB birthday wishes for dd2. I get all gushy at birthday times! we'll be celebrating her birthday all weekSmile!

belgina · 30/08/2010 16:35

Hi everyone. Hope you're having a nice bank holiday!

Just a quick one. I love Zara, but can't shop there. They're Spanish (or Portugese) sizes and made for short people. Sleeves always come up short and I usually have to buy an XL for tops to fit me. fi I think you might struggle with them due to your bra size. I'm excited about the H&M news though! Most of my stuff is from there!

C's repeated yesterday's trick and even tried to stand up from the middle of the room. I've always said she'd walk in September and it looks like I'm going to be right Grin

I'm on call tonight. Really hope they'll have a quiet night so I can have a sleep.

pulapula · 30/08/2010 16:47

belgina- I meant to say well done to C for taking some steps. I think it's hard for larger babies to manage it, as they have to build up more strength in their muscles and have good balance. Quite often it's the little ones that walk first - mine walked by size order (tiny DD first, then DS2 then big old DS2 Grin)

Hope you have a quiet night on call.

As for shops my favourite shop is white stuff and we have a branch just 15 mins walk away so just don't shop around atm but i do like Zara, H&M and Warehouse.

llareggub · 30/08/2010 17:31

Well, if we're talking favourite shops, I can tell you that mine are:

Gap (bought 2 dresses yesterday with my birthday money and got 15% off)
Zara
Kew (tried on a fab dress yesterday)
and shh! Boden.
