Hi all!

What rubbish weather. Crossed fingers that it improves for next week. Stuck in a caravan for a week in the rain doesn't sound like fun. Don't even care if it's cloudy, just dry!

DH is coming to the meet up too Gauchita so there'll be someone for your DH to chat too. I think Bunny is in London and up for the meet too Bigcar? I'll 'Facebook' her and check. She might be too tired with the pregnancy...

It'll be so weird when we all see each other. We've spent so long chatting, I really feel like I know you all. It'll be great putting voices to names and faces.

Hope your bankrupcy goes smoothly Strawberry. A friend of mine got into horrendous problems with credit cards a few years ago (£30,000 worth Shock) and she filed too. She's doing brilliantly now. It was the best thing she ever did as she was drowning in it all. That must have been for or five years ago now.

Good luck in your test Gauchita. I passed first time, it can be done!

Still no sign of DD walking. SHe stands without holding on for a good minute, she just won't take any steps. I think because she's such a gymnast (and scarily agile!) she doesn't feel she's missing out. DS walked at 14 months so I'm expecting it soon. She climbed up DS's five foot slide the other day, sat on her bum and went down on her own. She climbs up the book shelves if I'm not watching her!

DH is passed out on the sofa. He went out on a rare bender last night, kept me awake for two hours snoring his head off before he took himself downstairs. Not sure whether to send the rugrats in for a wake up? Wink

Love to all xxx

llynnnn · 08/08/2010 21:49

Hi all

just a quickie, sorry for being absent again! things are still pretty rubbish here with dh's back. he's still not working and can't sit for long (has an office job so not looking good for returning anytime soon :() appointment is 2 weeks away now, so hopefully we will fianlly find out the next step.

Anyway, Isobel is good. walking everywhere, learning new little words and expressions everyday. We had her hair trimmed today, she looks so much older, like a real little girl rather than a baby! not good!!

Only had chance for a quick glance over the last page but:

Strawberry - sorry to hear about your really tough time. can't begin to imagine how stressful it is for you, sending hugs

Meet up sounds so exciting, gutted to be missing it, would be so much fun to actually meet you all and your little darlings, maybe next time...

gauchita - great news about your car, pity you can't get much chance to drive it though, fingers crossed for a quick test pass for you

Hi to everyone else, speak soon xx

snowwombat · 09/08/2010 08:25

First steps have been taken Grin Grin

A has learnt to stand up by himself in the middle of the room and has spent all weekend applauding himself every time he does do Smile

lynnn good to hear from you. Is DH having physio? Miss I sounds like she has been v busy learning new things.

ineed ring details please! go DD and the slide!what a star.

straw thanks for asking about A. Spots all cleared, scabs all gone and just left with a few big scars.

gauchita not too long to the test.are you having a few lessons beforehand?Would be great if you could drive to the meet up!

june hope your internet sorts itself soon. Going to the gym this week?Have you got some easy ideas for healthy snacks for me? Trying to go for carrots when i want toast!

bigcar hope you have a medical appt free/broken glasses fixing free week!

vene have you heardfrom your friend about the wedding?? Hope you ok

bunny how you feeling? Have you joined the dec antenatal thread?

hello mrsmc, Skies, and everyone else

What time on the 11th sept? So looking forward to it!Thought about going toBorough before hand but can't face the thought of the buggy and that crowd! Chorizo baps willhave to wait.

Question for those of you self-employed/taking contract work. What do you do about tax and NI? My bloody contract still not right! And I haven't been paid for work i did in May/June/July becaue of the contract mess. You would thin a huge multinational HR dpt could sort a fairly simple contract! GRR

Better go sort the house out and get some work done. Waves to all

Gauchita · 09/08/2010 08:58

Hi all!
Quick post as I'm on my phone.
Snow, I'm self employed, I registered with the HMRC as such and they give you a tax reference number that belongs only to you and proves you're a self employed worker. I pay NI quarterly and then file the tax assessment thingy online every year. So, when I work agencies don't discount any tax for me, they pay me my fees, I keep invoices of everything I do and then I file the tax assessment every year. Don't know if this info is what you were looking for :D hope it helps. It's v v annoying to be waiting for payments, I'm dealing with back-payments from March onwards atm grrr. Well done A!! Glad to hear the pox is gone now and there are only a few scars ;)

We're in london at the moment, DH is getting his passpor renewed today. It was sunny and warm yesterday here :) hope we have the same today. Can't wait for the meet up!!!!

Will post and catch up properly later when I'm on my computer :D

Waves!!!

Gauchita · 09/08/2010 09:13

Argh M fell asleep, Dh had to go and we'll have to meet up with him later, which leaves me and M to venture on the tube on our own, no chance of pushchair in the tube so sling it is but with the nappy bag as well :S I'm not the best when it comes to finding my way and not getting lost :D I just saw on the tube map I have to make changes between lines who was in Barnet??? June, was it you?? We're staying In a hotel 4 stations away on The northern line, I just saw on the map :D wish me luck ladies!!!!

snowwombat · 09/08/2010 09:29

thank you gauchita for the info. v v helpful! Good luck with the tube, it will be fine. Can you sling the nappy bag across you and M so you still have a hand free? Got an oyster card to make life easier? Where you heading to? Used to live in London so might be some help!will keep logged in
x

June2009 · 09/08/2010 09:34

gauchita I'm in Southgate, not far from Barnet. You here today? :D
I don't know very much about the tube, you can get cute little maps from the stations usually. You'll be glad you took the sling, some of the stations do not have lifts. Can you use a rucksack instead of a changing bag just for today?

You're probably busy? If not there's a "story time" at 2:30 in "Broomfield Park" (N14) (storytime in the "band stand") which I'm going to with a friend this pm.

Our internet is still iffy but a new cable has turned up in our flower bed so just waiting for an engineer to come round and terminate it/plug it in (which they reckon will still take a week more.) It works when it's raining though.[hmmm]

We had relatives here all weekend and it was fab. too much drinking. Just been at the gym and I'm never drinking again!!!

they're leaving soon, we're cooking english breakfast for them first so I'd better go.

Time for the meet up: What is best for everyone? 12 or 1pm that sort of thing?? or earlier like 11:00 11:30??

OP posts:
Gauchita · 09/08/2010 09:39

:) thanks snow! Well I think I'm going to take the bare minimum and try and squeeze the nappy bag between us, yes :) what confuses me is sometimes you're on the tube and they change the message on the loudspeakers and suddenly the train terminates on a different station to the one you thought :S That happened to us yesterday :D anyway, fingers crossed! M is still sleeping, checkout is at 11 so we have a bit of time still. Glad the info was useful (btw, the process of becoming self employed is free, I know for other categories you have to pay a fee at the beginning). :)

Gauchita · 09/08/2010 09:44

June cross post!
You're really close!!! I'm on finchley central! We're not busy today besides DH's passport thing so will see if we can make it at 2.30 :D I wish I had brought a small rucksack :S but yes, very happy I brought the sling :D hope your Internet isn't too loopy today, and hope they sort that cable soon! :)

bigcar · 09/08/2010 20:02

evening all Smile

june, gauchita, hope you managed to meet up Smile

snow, well done A, no wonder he's so pleased with himself! How was your scan, hope all was well Smile Are you on the december thread? Just wondering because we are all juners, so does that make you a decembererererererer then Grin

llynnn, lovely to see you again, hope dh is ok, must be so frustrating all round. Will keep fingers crossed for his appointment.

ineed, hope you have a lovely holiday, weather today has been good at least, where are you going? Yes, will be great to meet everyone, my name's not really bigcar Shock Grin

strawberry, gotta admit it's easier since they built the sainsburys Hmm I think the problem is that they are elderly family so we tend to just do short visits with our mob. We often go after a day in Worthing or when we've been on holiday over Selsey/Bognor way, so we arrive from different directions Confused thankfully more recently it's a case of, have satnav will travel. They are nice dhs family, honest! Seems a nice place too, I'd love to live nearer the sea Smile

meet up time, can't remember how far everyone has to travel to get there, how long will it take everyone else? For me it's absolute max 1 hour so any time is fine for me.

waves to all Smile

Gauchita · 10/08/2010 16:38

Afternoon all!

Bigcar, hi! How are the school holidays at the Bigcar's household? Smile Hope everyone is getting along Grin

Ineed, happy belated anniversary. I second snow's post, ring details, please! Smile Glad there's one more DH for the meet-up Smile

Snow, I have 5 mock tests waiting for me as of tomorrow Grin I'm getting nervous now =S When are you travelling for work? Yay on A's first steps Smile

Llynn, fingers crossed for the appointment to go well and they can give your DH some treatment. These June babies are definitely growing too fast, I agree, not babies anymore! Grin

June, hope your internet connection is OK today despite the good weather Grin It was great meeting-up yesterday, we really enjoyed it Smile C's curls are gorgeous! Your DH was spot on on the alternative route, there was no traffic at all and we arrived home in 3.15hs Smile

Right, fortunately the tube journey was trouble-free and we didn't get lost or anything Grin M's quite heavy for the sling now, though Grin

We managed to meet with June at the park and have a little chat under the shade Smile We battled some traffic and thought we weren't going to make it but we did Grin It was very nice. M was a bit shy as she had just woken up, but then she started walking around Smile Really looking forward to the meet-up! Oh, we'll be setting off in the morning that day so 12-1 would be good for us, but whatever the majority says, of course Smile

Waves!

June2009 · 10/08/2010 20:55

YAY met up with gauchita yesterday, you're actually the first person (aside from customers) who I have met online and then met in RL. "Baby" M is really tall and lovely :D
It's funny how they do the same things isn't it. Can't wait for the meet up either!

Our internet connection has been up and down, really frustrating. Up today as it was cold/raining however C has an ear infection (and a faint rash on her torso) so not been able to do any work today. She's contagious so cannot go to nursery until the rash is gone and taking ab for a few days. Boo.

I should probably do some work tonight instead of checking out the AIBU threads ;)

OP posts:
venetianred · 10/08/2010 21:29

Back to thinking about getting a business up and running june. DD starts school on Sep 6th 8.45 drop off, 3.15 collection.....so considering putting F in nursery 2-3 days a week from 8.30 - 12.15 and then bring home for nap till 3:00. Then I would get 9-12.00 and 12:30 - 3:00 2-3 days a week, but only cost £30-£45/week but get 6 hours work done those days. 18 hours a week. Am shortlisting business ideas (some have been in my head for some time and I already have an out-of-date business plan for something else). I am really excited. Terrified soon, I am sure, but really really excited - I've wanted to do this since I was 14. I have done more jobs in my life than you would believe (and two degrees as dh constantly teasing me about), so it's time to get confident, and get going!

After dd was born I desperately wanted to be a sahm, now I am really looking forward to the best of both worlds, I just have to make it happen!

Hello to all, lovely to hear all your news...good luck gauchita on the test.

June2009 · 10/08/2010 23:11

Good on you vene, I wish you all the best, there's nothing like working for yourself.
C always has a nice nap when she comes back from her morning at nursery.
It's good if you can do something flexible with the hours (where you can catch up with work in the evening if the day hasn't gone according to plan for example.)
been on the businesslink.org website? It's full of practical advice.

bigcar LOL my name's not june ;) I always wondered if you do in fact drive a bigcar Grin.

OP posts:
llynnnn · 11/08/2010 21:48

Hi

Thanks for all the well wishes for dh :)

Vene - how exciting! what kind of business are you thinking of? (if thats not too nosey!) we have always dreamt of owning our own business, but just aren't brave enough to go for it!!

June - How's C today? Much better I hope, ear infections can be nasty :(

Gauchita - I couldnt imagine carrying I in the sling now! She weighs a tonne, bless her! well done for navigating London and the tube alone!

Snow - well done A on the walking! so cute that he appaulds himself :)

bigcar - Hi!

Hi to everyone else too, hope alls well
x

whenskiesaregrey · 12/08/2010 09:23

Hi

Just a v quick hello as totally snowed under with wedding stuff at the moment!! Its all getting very close and exciting at the moment, but I am not getting any sleep through worrying :( v tired and grumpy!

Hope you are all well x

June2009 · 12/08/2010 11:21

skies can't beleive you're getting married in just over a week, how exciting :D
The day before my wedding I was in floods of tears at the beauty salon because the best man was a dickheadnothing was going according to plan.
It is stressfull organising it all, can you delegate a lot of stuff to your bridesmaids, parents and pils? People love to help (that usually means you have to compromise on stuff though as they usually know best too ;)
I remember being vaguely distant with evreyone coming up to the wedding, I was training the week before the wedding and apologising to my trainer for not listening to what she was saying and just going through the motions, there was so much to think about.

I really wish you all the best. Can you put aside a couple of hours for you to get your nails/feet done (or a massage, or a run) just so that you can clear your head.

My wedding day was still the best day of my life, it all came together in the end.

By the way I know it's controversial to say that when you have children, their birth is supposed to be the best day of your life and having a baby is the best thing that has happened to me however the birth itself was just too traumatic!

lynn thanks, C is getting better slowly, not going to nursery this week which means no time to work properly for me and lots of people to chase for money. stress.
internet has been working for 2 days in a row

OP posts:
snowwombat · 13/08/2010 08:52

hi girls, sorry for the absence, laptop is dying slowly and no net connection for a few days- disaster!Laptop is off to the nice repair man next week- ALL WEEK- how am I going to manage a week without the internet?

gauchita and june how lovely you got to meet up! gauchita I am away a few days next week, then we are on hols for 2 weeks, back for a week (and the meetup Grin), away for work for a week, etc etc. Travelling every 2 weeks until I am 30 weeks!

bigcar how the holidays going? We are about 1.5hrs until London so v flexible with meet up times too. Might be nice to get togther for a little while before the kidlets all need lunch. 1130?? My DH coming too.
skies good luck with all the last minute wedding prep!Don't forget to take a quiet 10mins with just you and DH on the day so you get to take it all in!
june hope you got the pill sorted. How is C feeling? Dream house for me would be by the sea too. Preferably with a nice beach! Dream on!
lynn not long till the appt now, hope it helps. Is he having any treatment at the moment?
vene the grand plan sounds great, can you tell us about the business idea (if we aren't being too nosy!)

Better sort A before we head out. Hope you all have the lovely blue skies we have here today

June2009 · 13/08/2010 09:56

hey snow you sound v. busy, I don't know how you do it, do you take extra vitamins Grin I was looking at C. yesterday thinking I really want another one quite soon, don't think I'm quite ready yet.
When we started trying to C I knew I was ready so I'm hoping the same will happen now.

I know what you mean about no internet for a week, nightmare...do you have any internet with your phone at all, or any nice internet cafes closeby? My gym has free internet and a few tables & chairs for members, you see some people hanging around there with their laptops.

Where are you going on holiday? We booked another trip to France for the end of the month which I hope will be more restful than the last one. (hard to keep up with the baby all day everyday in environments that are not baby proof. you're constantly saying "no!, don't touch that!" etc...)

The chemist did give me my pill eventually thanks. .

whenskies snow makes a very good point, take some time out during the day to take it all in. It all goes very very fast. I regret not going to each table to greet the guests and have a drink with them.
The next day is quite depressing too, don't worry that's normal after such a high.

gauchita I googled "nebuliser" and they look pretty scary hope Mila's cough is getting better.
How are the mock tests going?

C is better, still taking ab until sunday but the rash is gone so she's no longer contagious apparently, one of her eyes had swelled up a little but is back to normal now, no more temperature and a lot less grumpy though still a bit clingy.
Back to nursery on Monday.

well, dh is at work and C is sleeping, rare moment to myself I could actually have a nice LONG shower and exfoliate!!!

OP posts:
Gauchita · 13/08/2010 10:14

Hi all!

Argh, so much work suddenly that I haven't been able to catch up properly Grin M's taking a nap so I'll do my best in 10 mins Grin

June, glad you solved the pill issue, how odd they didn't seem "willing" to help Hmm. Sex or no sex you can't really just skip days, that's not how it works Grin Glad to hear C's getting better and the rash is gone. Go and have a nice exfoliating shower Grin Nebuliser has just arrived (we ordered it on Wednesday but as it was already well into the afternoon it was too late for the "next day delivery". I hope it helps, as M's cough is not getting any better... Apparently 2-3 months ago they stopped selling over the counter medicines for other than dry-tickly cough. Something to do with the drugs in them, so now you have to get them under prescription. When her cough started I thought it would be gone in a couple of days, big mistake! Next time I'll be there the next day asking for a prescription Grin

Skies, oh not long now! Is it this weekend? Some great advice here, I second the girls. Enjoy!

Snow, wow, busy lady! Another vote here for a dream house on a beach All this talk about holidays is making me want to run away Grin

Vene, oh that's fantastic! We'll all be here to give you support - albeit a virtual one- all the way Smile Do share what you can, it's hard when you know it's going to be all over the web Grin

Right, hi to all Juners!

Lots of work, quite thankful for it of course. But tight deadlines and a DH that has a LOT of work these days as well is not helping

I have a problem, M's getting REALLY picky with her food. Any ideas for some high caloric, picky baby-friendly anyone can offer? Sometimes I end up cooking her 3 different things just because with this nasty cold she had she lost a bit of weight. I feel guilty for cooking something different because that might make her think that will always happen, but then if I don't I feel guilty for leaving her with not so much food inside when she refuses to eat everything Any ideas?

Right, minutes over, I must go back to work before M wakes.

Oh, I just had a regular lesson the other day, no mock test as I thought I had an hour and instructor thought we had two hours Grin So by the time he was ready to start the mock test I had to go back home Grin Next week it is!

Waves!

bigcar · 13/08/2010 10:46

morning all Smile

gauchita, lovely you managed to meet with june Smile Dd2 and ds1 are definitely having their moments, well I say moments, they mostly enjoy trying to belt the crap out of each other Hmm sometimes they get on great, other times, not quite . . . . .

june, the weather's not so good today so hopefully you'll be able to check out AIBU get some work done! Hope Cs feeling better, poor thing. Glad you got your pill sorted, I think there's a course that some drs receptionists go on called, how to look down your nose at patients with an air of self importance Grin And I used to drive a serena like this one but now have a vw sharan which is still pretty big but not quite so!

venetian, you sound like you've got a good plan going there! But do tell, we are all intrigued now Grin

llynnnn, hi, hope all's well with you and dh, not long now till his appointment I think Smile

whenskies, I'm sure you'll have more important things to be doing than mning but hope all goes well for your wedding day and don't forget to enjoy yourself! And of course when you get a chance I'm sure I won't be the only one who'd love to see some pics Smile

snow, that sounds manic, hope it's not too knackering Smile Does that mean you will be based closer home after 30 weeks? With you on the internet, it's more of a necessity these days isn't it! E is loving having the older dcs home, doesn't know who to jump on next Grin

bunny, hope all's well with you Smile

strawberry, how's things with you Smile

so meet up wise, it's looking like 11.30/12 would be a good time, so now it looks like we need to just cross fingers for good weather!

waves to all Smile

bigcar · 13/08/2010 10:56

gauchita, cross posts, stopped for a cuppa in the middle Grin If you want to do high calorie think cream and cheese sauces, avacado is also pretty good. It's not such a big deal if M looses weight at this age, try not to worry too much, so long as it doesn't go on for too long she will be fine. You'll probably find she eats like a horse when she does get her appetite back to make up for it. Hope she's feeling better soon Smile

bigcar · 13/08/2010 11:15

just for the view sigh or here or here even!
