Hi all!

Snow, you're in full nesting mode now, I see Xmas Grin Angry birds is a game, DH has it on his phone and everyone who has it and plays it says it's highly highly addictive Xmas Grin Oooh baby's head is engaged, yay! Enjoy your massage Xmas Smile

June, oh such great news! Glad to hear there's been an improvement on the bath front Xmas Smile and that you had a great weekend away.

Bigcar, hope DD1 is having fun at her placement this week Xmas Smile Wasn't it yesterday you were having the meeting re. DD3's school?

No more snow here for the moment but it's freeeezing, we get up with -8 in the morning, brrrrr...

The flu meds were great but SO harsh on my stomach I had to stop taking them in twos as the box said. No matter how much I ate before taking them my stomach would suffer badly. So I'm taking them one at a time now Xmas Grin

Ooooh! Silly silly question, apologies in advance BUT... how do you guys eat custard? Alone? With something else? Do you cook with it? I bought a tin and loved it but I just ate it with a spoon Xmas Grin Xmas Blush and something tells me that might not be the way Xmas Grin

Waves!

bigcar · 09/12/2010 10:01

morning all Xmas Smile

june, your break sounds great, glad C enjoyed the water, their pools are particularly good aren't they! Hope all's well with the ils.

snow, oh that's good, baby behaving already, that's what we like to hear Xmas Grin As gauchita says, angry birds is very addictive, you catapult birds at obstacles you need to knock over to destroy the pigs, clear or what hey Xmas Grin

gauchita, yes, dd3s case went to panel, not a meeting I can go to, hoping to get the result soon, have everything crossed. I was hoping someone would ring but noone I know was on this panel so will have to wait for a letter. No, you are spot on with custard eating, best just use a spoon Xmas Grin that's my approach and I find it works well! Or alternatively you can have it hot on something like apple pie or sponge pudding of some sort, jam rolypoly, sticky toffee pudding, spotted dick etc Xmas Grin

the sun is out [yay] hopefully the last of the snow and ice will melt today, life will be much easier without all the icey patches on the footpaths. The sign for chocolate is to make a C shape with thumb and first finger and tap first finger on chin twice, E hasn't quite got the hang of this and just sticks his finger up his nose, especially lovely at the moment as he has a cold! Xmas Grin He absolutley idolises the cat, he blows her kisses and follows her everywhere, very sweet.

waves to all Xmas Smile

June2009 · 09/12/2010 15:21

bigcar fingers crossed for that meeting, hope they dont make you wait too long for the letter. Are you taking pics of E and the cat? I had a pic of my cat sleeping on my dog and it was soo cute.

snow I've never had steak and guiness pie, sounds yummy! We're having soup at the moment, dh is full of cold as well.

gauchita something you wanna tell us, eating custard with a spoon out of the blue like that? ;)

We usually have it as a choice to go on top of hot apple crumble, or apple pie or some of these fruit strudels (yumyum), chocolate cake (like fudge cake, hot or cold)
You can have the custard hot or cold by the way. (the other choice of topping is vanilla ice cream here).

Custard comes out of a can or a bottle or a carton, or you can make it out of custard powder, or you could make it from scratch (delicious!)

Triple YAY, C. had a bath yesterday and enjoyed it!. We sat her in the empty bath with some toys (still in her pjs) and poured the water in from the tap (as opposed to shower head) so she played with that and took off her pj's as inconspicuously as we could. She bathed a while with her nappy still on (These things go MASSIVE) then we managed to take it off as well. We even washed her hair and she did not mind one bit.
Confused Hmm Confused but relieved. She smelt so nice this morning!
So however much CP cost, it's all been worth it ;)

Gotta run as I'm in the middle of tidying up the office, so much to do!

take care juners

any other ideas for the next thread title?

june I am SO pleased about the improvements in bath time. Wonderful!
Steak and guiness pie is yummy comforting food- cheap to make too.
bigcar I hope the panel meeting gives you a response v v soon. How cute is E with meow! A loves his GP's dogs, all end up in a heap together
gauchita Happy birthday for Sunday. Have you picked somewhere to eat? Can't advise on custard I'm afraid, can't stand the stuff. Eating condensed milk out of tin though, that is an entirely different matter!! Xmas Grin.

Well girls, I'm afraid my crapness at pregnancy continues after such a good few weeks. I have developed pre-eclampsia and have to be induced next week. Waiting for a date following check ups at the hospital over the weekend and monday. Am v disappointed as was on track for a non-monitored birth, even allowed to use the pool and now that is out the window. At the same time, it is lovely to know we will have a baby this time next week and my Aussie friends are here to look after A while I go to appts and when in labour.

Off to try and get an acupuncture appt to help things along! Maybe a swim today with A will help??

bigcar · 10/12/2010 09:43

morning all Xmas Smile

june, fantastic bath news Xmas Smile Xmas Smile Xmas Smile It would seem noone has any alternative title to yours for the next thread Xmas Smile do you want to start?!

snow, oh no, hope you're ok, are you resting with your feet up as much as possible?! Hope all goes well over the weekend. Good news your friends will still be here for you though. E isn't quite so keen on dogs, ils have a boxer that's bigger than E, E likes to boss him around and gives him what for on a regular basis Xmas Hmm Stooopid dog usually does what he's told too! Did you do anything with As hair in the end, I'm thinking of taking the clippers to Es just to even it up.

this time next week the dcs will be breaking up for christmas, so only another 5 days of school run Xmas Smile Dh is off after today for the next 2 weeks so that will be . . . interesting Xmas Grin We're mostly sorted for christmas now, just the fresh food left to get now [yay] just the wrapping to do really and as far as I'm concerned that's the worst job!

waves to all Xmas Smile

GauchitaBell · 10/12/2010 10:26

Hi all!

Bigcar, I hope you get news from the panel soon, and that they're good ones! How cute is E with Meow! One more week of school run then Xmas Smile Ooooh 2 weeks with DH at home, AND the DC, that should be fun!

Snow, oh no, sorry to hear about the pre-eclampsia Xmas Sad The silver lining is as you said you'll have your Aussie friends with you for the date and you'll have your baby in your arms next week!! Please please rest as much as you can, put your feet up whenever possible Xmas Smile Enjoy your acupuncture appt Oooh condensed milk, yum!

June, hip hip hooray!! (sp?) Super yay on C's bath-time! Oh, you must be so relieved! Xmas Smile Oh, no, not pg yet Xmas Grin We're still playing it by ear thanks to my irregular dates Xmas Hmm Oh well...

Thanks everyone for the tips and ideas re. custard Xmas Smile M loved it too, so two new fans here Xmas Grin

Christmas tree is up. The novelty hasn't worn off yet and M's touching everything all the time, nothing broken yet fortunately.

I haven't decided what I want to do or where I want to go on Sunday. I think we might go for sushi with M, it'll be her first time Xmas Smile I'm praying for DH to get it together and get me a nice present for a change! Xmas Grin Xmas Hmm

Oh, M has started saying "caca" (poo) after the deed is done, so I guess that's the first step Xmas Grin

Waves to all!

bigcar · 10/12/2010 10:39

gauchita, have you given dh a list to choose a present from, it's the only thing that works here Xmas Grin

GauchitaBell · 10/12/2010 13:22

Bigcar, no, I didn't and I should have, you're right! I guess I'm always hopeful Xmas Blush I called DH a few mins ago and asked if he needed any help but he said he had already sorted everything So, fingers crossed, I guess Xmas Grin I'll let you know on Sunday Xmas Grin

bigcar · 10/12/2010 13:27

gauchita, my next birthday will be my 40th, I've learnt over that time a list is the way to go Xmas Grin But then my dh is particularly crap at knowing my likes and dislikes!

GauchitaBell · 10/12/2010 13:53

Sounds like mine Xmas Grin Well done on preparing a list then Xmas Wink How long till your bday?

I'm sadly excited about the new iphone MN app (the babies guide) It has nursery rhymes and white noise sounds, etc Xmas Smile Such a pity ours are not babies anymore Xmas Grin

bigcar · 10/12/2010 14:00

oh ages yet, not until the summer. Well I have the hump Xmas Grin the apps should be on android too

June2009 · 10/12/2010 14:27

gauchitabell dh is desperatly hopeless when it comes to presents and I ended up in tears last year because pregnancy hormones some years he didn't get me anything, just a "sorry I'm crap I didn't get you anything" Shock, other years he didn't think about it at all until the day and dashed out to find something quickly. (even though it was a very nice present it felt a little bit thoughtless).
Strangely I don't actually care about it so much this year, maybe because he has been asking me what I want...and I haven't come up with anything! Just not sure what I want really. I need some clothes and a hair cut would be nice but that's not really "special" iyswim. I also cannot clothes shop with dh, he doesn't get window shopping and trying lots of things on at all so he just hangs around, "are we done yet?" and really hopeful "do you like this dress then??" which just irritates the hell out of me Grin.
Some extra personal training at the gym would be nice but I don't dare ask as I am spending too much on that already Blush. (It is working though, in my defence!)

My bday is next friday, yay! really looking forward to it, we're having sushi too gauchitabell :))
Sushi is lovely, C. loves it, she has the tobiko (raw crab egss) and the ikura (raw almon eggs)and also some of the rolls, prawns, salmon, we've even given her sashimi (raw salmon) and she has been absolutely fine with it.
We were going to have it tonight but the restaurant is closed because of a leak from upstairs! I love the raw fish, not so much into the rice myself.

snow all bets are off then, sorry to hear about pre-eclampsia, I think one of the juners had it as well :( I can't remember what it is exactly but it doesn't sound like fun. Hope you're ok with it all, I remember feeling quite crushed when my birth plan went out the window :(

bigcar I was going to start the new thread but couldn't bring myself to write "terrible twos here we come", are they really going to be 2 already?? where has time gone??

C is up, speak later!

GauchitaBell · 11/12/2010 12:00

Hi all!

June, you made me chuckle, your DH and mine are similar as well Xmas Grin Maybe it's more common that we think Xmas Hmm DH doesn't mind window shopping too much and gives me input and all but he hates crowded shops, and gets quite moody so... A fellow December Juner! Xmas Smile So no idea what you might want for your bday? DH says it's all sorted so now I can only hope it's something nice

Bigcar, I SO want the MN talk app to be launched! On the other hand, that'd mean a lot of MNing

Snow, how are you feeling?

On a different note, M has chickenpox I can't believe our luck Xmas Grin One thing after the other for the last 4 weeks! Gah! I talked to an NHS nurse over the phone and she said M can't go out until Friday next week as she's still contagious now.

There goes any birthday plan then Xmas Grin Xmas Sad I couldn't help but cry this morning, DH is working so much I'm almost in charge of M and the house on my own and now this. And I feel ashamed of complaining as other people have more serious problems to deal with but I couldn't help it Xmas Blush

Anyway, DH said he's going to order sushi to have a bday celebration here at home, which is sweet of his.

GauchitaBell · 11/12/2010 12:01

No idea why the message got cut there.

Anyway, waves to all!

June2009 · 11/12/2010 12:13

aww gauchitabell sorry your bday plans went out the window (twice now) It'll all be for the better. Sushi at home is what we'll be doing for mine, it's fab! Can you grab a small bottle of champagne from somewhere as well to make it that little bit more festive? Couple of blinis with smoked salmon and there you are, it's a party! :D

It is very hard when you do most of it on your own, extremely tiring. Your problems are still valid regardless of how bad other people's problems are you know.

You have my sympathy C is teething badly at the moment and was up every half hour last night .

OP posts:
GauchitaBell · 11/12/2010 12:37

June, great ideas! (I've already passed them on to DH Xmas Grin)

Oh, poor C. Teething is something that bothers them for SO long! Hope you manage to rest a bit today and re-charge your batteries Xmas Smile

bigcar · 11/12/2010 13:28

morning all Xmas Smile

gauchita, oh no, hope Ms ok. Plenty of tips on chicken pox over on childrens health, apparently oats in an old sock under the tap as you run a bath is supposed to soothe the itching. At least you have got it out of the way and she won't get it after her first day at school like ds1 did Xmas Hmm It's a pain not being able to go out but it's not worth the risk, at least you can drink as much as you like and not worry about how to get home Xmas Grin and of course you'll have to go out when she's better to compensate, so 2 birthday treats by my reckoning! Hope you have a lovely relaxing day tomorrow, happy birthday Xmas Smile

june, happy birthday for next week Xmas Smile what about a nice massage or spa day, bit of pampering. I know, I can't believe E is closer to 2 now than 1, time is certainly flying, just wish I didn't feel so damn broody! Poor C, hope the teeth are ok this morning.

snow, hope all's ok today Xmas Smile

waves to all Xmas Smile
