Morning all!

Skies, aw, bless him No experience here but judging by DH's face when I asked him I'd cast another vote for "it's absolutely normal" Boys are an odd thing, definitely Ohhh how exciting!!! The wedding is so close! Your friends' wedding so close will be a great checklist

June, that blind is a great idea. Hope your internet connection goes back to normal soon and you don't have to go through the whole calling the company and waiting for them to come and solve it thing...

Snow, thank you for your post. I saw it right after speaking to the HV and she said exactly the same you did and that we should only worry if they're still doing that by age 2.5-3 Glad to hear A's handling his chicken pox OK, hopefully scabs will appear soon and you'll be able to go out and about again

Well, after some nagging I got an email saying they had over-promised some payments and then realised they couldn't make them Gah! Odd how this is considered "OK" when you'd be seen as a nut-case if you did the same to service providers

Back later, must make lunch

Waves!

venetianred · 29/07/2010 12:04

I finally emailed my friend about our decision to postpone the wedding a year, and today I feel completely 'crap' as a human being.

People make this wonderful huge commitment to come and then I let them down!!

Gauchita · 29/07/2010 12:35

Oh, Vene Please don't feel bad, this is just something that has happened, you couldn't have helped it, it's not your fault. I'm sure your friend will understand as you would understand her if it were the other way around... Lots of things are happening and I guess a mix of feelings are crossing your mind and heart all the time these days, but please don't feel guilty about this Please be kind to yourself ((hug))

bigcar · 29/07/2010 13:04

afternoon all

gauchita, pretty sure getting into Coram Fields is free, from what I remember anyway. I think you should try that the next time you get an electric bill, you've over promised payments a self employed friend of mine has the same problem and hasn't found an answer yet it really pisses her off.

whenskies, yep another one here with boys and their favourite plaything. You're going for TWO nights? lol, 80s fancy dress night out makes me feel really old oh the money hairspray companies made from me would rival the national debt oh and the shoulder pads in everything including tshirts Dcs broke up last friday and so far no solid plans, dd1 is taking dd2 and ds1 to see toy story 3 in 3D tomorrow, would like to go myself, remember taking dd1 to see the first one. Ah well, to infinity and beyooonnnnnndddddddddd.

snow, hope As spots are crusting nicely. How are you feeling, has the sickness passed now?

june, what a pain, hope you can get it sorted quickly

venetian, well done on emailing, can't have been easy

strawberry, how are you doing have you got down to the CAB yet? Some good advice about the ADs on your thread there.

laura, hope all's well with you

E is loving having the older dcs around at the moment, it's tiring him out quite nicely! Waves to all

hey sam sorry to hear that
At least now you know and you can go forward and move on. I'm sure your parents will want to help. If you get all the info on it before they come that would be good so you can tell them what it means exactly.

Your advisor should be able to tell you what benefits you are entitled to etc? Or at least point you in the right direction.
He should also be able to tell you what the best course of action with work is. You might not have to tell them until it's done or whatever. You don't want to shoot yourself in the foot.

It must be really stressfull for you, I hope you are looking after yourself as much as you can, {{hugs}}.

Our internet connection has been up and down like a yoyo, it's so frustrating! Virgin are sending engineers however it is working whenever they turn up so they just kind of fiddle with it, say "well, it is working now" and leave. .

I'd better post this before it all goes off again...

On the other hand I don't mind spending time away from the screen!

Take care juners!

Morning all!

June, that's typical when something's working wrong, technicians come and it works Hope it goes back to normal soon.

Strawberry, so sorry to hear the news. I'm sure your parents will understand, it's not as if you have other options according to the FAs so I'm sure they'll be supportive. Maybe some of the MNtters on your other thread will have some answers wrt benefits and work, as some of them might have some experience on that? It's worth checking (((hug)))

Bigcar, I was very young but shudder-producing 80s fashion didn't apply only to teens I have pics of my sister and me and jeeeeeez, so many neon-coloured clothes and accessories!

Vene, hi, how are things?

Hi to all Juners

Right, good news of the weekend is I have my car... (yay!) Bad news of the weekend is that yesterday I cottoned on to the fact that I've been driving illegally with DH up to now as I need to drive with someone who is 21 (check!) and has a 3yo, at least, full UK license, UK being the key word here! My lord, we thought it was a 3yo full license!. Oh the shame yesterday when we went to pick up the car. Anyway, now I have a car but can only drive it with my instructor and my best friend until I pass my test

DH had to go to London this morning for work and he's coming back tomorrow so I'm stuck at home with a car parked downstairs that I can't drive because I don't have anyone to sit next to me That also made me realise the few people I actually know/have contact with on a daily basis, which is sad really...

Aaaaaaaaaaanyway, hope you're having a nice weekend, ladies!

Waves!

June2009 · 01/08/2010 12:00

hey gauchita not long till you take your test! I sympathise, I hate being stuck somewhere.
Coram Fields is run by a charity and you can make a donation. Shall we have a picnic there?

C is starting an extra morning at nursery next week. I originally booked this because we wanted to drop the monday morning session and still have baby going there two mornings a week. The nursery charge you for Mondays even when it's a bank holiday so you loose out! If I'd asked to swap monday for another day I'm certain it would have taken a lot longer,w e had to go on a waiting list. Anyway we'll see how it goes with three mornings until september/october and then decide.

I can hear C has woken up so I'd better be off! :D
take care!

Hello all! Sorry for prolonged absence.

DH now off for the summer, so life has become a lot easier. Off to Devon for a week from 9th to 16th camping, so loads to sort out and pack.

I can do the meet up on the 11th Sep in Coram Fields. Are DHs/DPs coming too? Picnic sounds fab.

Just spent the weekend at Glorious Goodwood with DH for our fifth wedding anniversary. The first night away from DD ever and our first child-free weekend for 2 years. DD thought mum was the anti-christ and screamed whenever she came near. Poor mum. Luckily she 'limpeted' onto my dad for the weekend so she was okay. She was so excited to see us when they dropped them off, she was crying and laughing and straining against the car seat straps. She then hugged us and kissed us alternately for an hour! Not sure she'll forgive us soon....

DH bought me an eternity ring as my anniversary present so very pleased!

Anyway, hello all and I'll do my best to catch up on everything I've missed.

venetianred · 02/08/2010 18:29

strawberry - I did wonder if that realistically was your only option given the vast burden of debt relative to income. There was a good Radio 2 programme about this a few days ago. Do though, be aware of how this will affect your life afterwards, especially should you want to ever borrow in future. In fact I suspect it even limits your ability to have a bank account for some time, and so you must deal in cash.....not certain of finer details but do check so you are aware of what life will be like afterwards.

Will come back and write more shortly. Thanks for support. To be fair, we are fairly comfortably off with quite a bit of savings put aside, so the threat of a job loss is not so scary for us, however we are older parents and trying to quickly build up a pension etc, so don't want to be getting 'behind' when we thought we were getting 'ahead'.

x

venetianred · 02/08/2010 21:50

strawberry - however it was interesting to hear some people saying that that going bankrupt was such an enormous relief. Because it is just so crippling/depressing/sometimes absolutely impossible to get on top off....so well done for realising that an important decision needed to be made. My mother used to help people who were on the verge of going bankrupt but decided they didn't want to, and she took charge of their affairs until they were out of it, only she had a cheque book and they just got a certain amount of cash to live off each week. It was very tough.

snowwombat · 03/08/2010 08:08

morning girls,
I have dropped A at nursery and thought it must be time for a big catch up. He is much better, still crusty spots but improved in spirit! Baby is moving alot. Tis such a lovely feeling. 20 week scan next week! MS continues, but not every day. Should abate in the next few weeks I hope.

afternoon all

strawberry, sorry haven't a clue, can only offer a cuppa, slice of cake and ((((hugs)))) have you seen this might be of some use. Hope all goes well with your parents

june, what a pain with your internet, especially for you working from home, must be hard. Hope the extra nursery sessions are going ok. Think it's standard to charge for bank holidays, have had that with preschools before now, dd3s used to have a training day every term on a monday that we had to pay for too.

gauchita, lol, 80's fashion [shudder] at least noone used to get lost with all that neon! Do you have a date for your driving test now? What a pain having your car sat there unused, better make sure you pass first time eh?! Although having failed mine the first time, all the best people pass second time round

ineed, weekend away sounds lovely, and come on yes, we need ring details I think bunny is looking for rings atm!

venetian, how are you doing

snow, ooooh baby moving, how wonderful, best bit imo, the only bit of pregnancy I would want to do again Good to hear the ms is on the way out, hope all goes well with your scan. Dd2 and ds1 loved toy story 3, I would love to have gone and will have to wait on the dvd! Dd1 has seen it twice now, she went with her boyfriend last week as well, remembering she's almost 20 and he's 23 I remember taking dd1 to see the first one when it came out, we didn't go to the cinema very often so it was quite an event [sigh] starting to feel old.

bunny, hope all's well with you

MrsMcJnr, hope the swap's still on and chicken pox hasn't put a, erm, ummm, pox on things

just got my act in gear and realised that come september I will have dd1 off to uni, dd2 off to high school and dd3 starting reception, so that's all the major school mile stones covered at once!

11th spetember the meet up is then Guess dh/dps is up to what's best/easier for everyone. Can't wait

Hi all!

Bigcar, wow, milestones galore come September I'd love to see Toy Story 3 as well! I think I need to pass first time just because I wouldn't want to wait for a month before I can resit So fingers ultra crossed!!! I have a date, it's 16th September but I'll try and get an earlier one, there're cancellations all the time.

Snow, hi! Glad A's back at nursery and the pox is going away now Aw how lovely to feel the bubba moving. Glad to hear work is going well

Vene, hi Hope things are well.

June, M started a second afternoon this month. I know what you mean re. bank holidays but I think Bigcar's right, it's customary to just charge you for them I know they charge us for the whole month when they break during the year so I guess over here bank holidays would fall into the same category. I asked them whether we could take M this Friday instead of the usual Thursday and they said we could, yes, but it was school policy not to allow day switches so we'd have to pay Friday as an extra day HA! I emailed them back thanking them but that it was OK, I would manage (I asked them because I have an interpreting assignment in Leeds at 12 and as I have to travel there there's no way I can take her to school at 1). Sorry, I'm rambling now Hope your internet connection is sorted now

Hi to all Juners!

Right, re. meet-up and DHs, mine would be coming as we're travelling together and he'll take us to the farm as well; so if other Juners are taking theirs then

DH dropped my phone and I had to send it away to get fixed, man you don't realise how much you need it until it's gone!

Waves!

June2009 · 03/08/2010 21:41

Heya, our internet connection is still up and down, well mostly down really and will only be fixed in 2 weeks. (ARGH! = stress to get my work done).

Only short-ish post for me as I need to make the most of it while it's on.

11/09 sounds great, dh will probably be coming along too. How exciting :D

ineed weekend away sounds lovely :D agree with the others, we need to see a pic of the ring :D

Good to hear from you snow, great catch-up btw! Awww @ feeling the baby move, how lovely
Hope the pregnant ladies amongst us are all well!!

The blackout blinds are helping a little bit I think. C still wakes up at 5am sometimes but it was 7am this morning so there's progress at least?

gauchita bigcar they did tell us about the nursery is closed on bank holidays as well, it just never clicked that was applying to us. .

C, who has been walking for a little while already but needed help everytime she fell over finally learnt to get up on her own 2 weeks ago so she is that little bit more independant now which is nice/cute.

We got a mini slide today for her and she loves it.

Better be off for now and catch up on some things. Take care juners!

afternoon all

gauchita, fingers crossed for the 16th september then I'd be lost without my phone now, ok I often manage to go out and leave it at home, but I use it as a clock and alarm etc, long gone are the days when a phone was for speaking to people!

june, what a pain, have they said what the problem is with your internet? Dd3 has that slide in pink, E isn't any where near careful enough on it, gets huge grins but he's so unsafe on everything

strawberry, good to hear you're getting everything in order If you are both on benefits then prescriptions will be free anyway. We are the opposite side of London to Barnet but from what I can figure out we both should be close to either end of the northern line so just let me know when you want to meet up We're also not far from some bits of west Sussex, whereabouts will you be going? Feel free not to answer if you don't want to post for whole t'internet to see!

E can climb up onto the sofa which although he can get down safely still means watching him closely and of course he has now decided that everything does in fact belong to him so major strops when something is taken from him!

June2009 · 05/08/2010 07:06

hey sam I'm not far from Barnet so we should be able to meet up. I think choccie is somewhere near here as well but she has not been on here for a while.

bigcar C can not be left unnattended with the slide which we had not really thought through :D We help her climbs thr steps (she's nowhere near doing that on her own) and leave her at the top (and stay behind her in case she decides to throw herself the wrong way back down the steps!) and she pushes herself down. Sometimes not so successfully and ends up in weird positions at the bottom but she has not hurt herself (yet?) and thinks it's really funny.
They dont know what's wrong with our internet connection. yesterday it worked all day. Dh thinks the main cable is damaged and it's something to do with something expanding when the weather is hot. (was pouring it down all day yesterday).

Hi all!

June, that slide is lovely, small children have no fear at this age, do they!? Hope your internet connection didn't go loopy yesterday, hope it goes on like that. I can't believe they told you they'd come in two weeks! For people who work from home that's despairing. I think Choccie lives in Ireland, but I could be wrong I think I remember her saying a meet-up would be too long a way for her with DC in tow. But again, I could be imagining it all

Strawberry, glad things went well with your parents. Sounds like you're having things much clearer and now you can move forward Oh, another Juner in the London area, that's good, lots of people to visit!

Bigcar, I know, the good and bad thing about smart phones is you end up doing EVERYTHING with them so when you don't have them you go bananas Another sofa climber here, but she loses perspective of where she is if she turns around and sometimes she ends up falling Luckily it's not too high, and we have a foam mat on the floor

Hi to all Juners!

Lovely sun today, but quite cool and windy. M has had a cold these last few days and she was having awful nights but she's a bit better now.

A translation came in (and a long one, yay) so I'm a busy bee atm

I have a new test date, 1st September! Jeeeeez that's close!

bigcar · 06/08/2010 10:31

morning all Smile

strawberry, I love a day trip to Worthing! My mum used to take us to a cafe just along the beach from the town centre, lovely bit of sandy beach when the tide goes out. Dh has family in Rustington although I always seem to get lost going there Hmm

june, what a pain with the internet, guess you're hoping for some cooler weather then!

gauchita, ooh, it's getting closer!!!! Will you try to get one sooner? Is dh going to get a UK driving license, haven't a clue how these things work?

Bigar, closer indeed! No, that's as close as I want it. Fingers crossed I'll be able to drive to our meet-up! DH has a UK license (international ones last for only 1 year) It's just 2 years old, not 3 Blush EU ones are accepted as UK ones, and I think those of Japan, Australia and NZ as well. Latin America didn't make the cut Grin Oh, I used to do the same when I was tiny, somehow I managed to take the arms off my glasses all the time Grin
