June, the baby room has about 6-7 babies. I really wouldn't mind if it weren't so constant, I'm really not exaggerating, it's one after the other Sad A childminder is another option, although as it's mainly for social reasons that we started sending her, I can get that at toddler sessions/activities at the local centre. Oh, I did have a question the other day, I'll see if I jotted it down and will PM you Smile I'm learning from English, there wasn't an option to learn from Spanish. The WHOLE thing is in French, though, besides the written instructions Smile Sorry to hear you're having issues with SIL again. I'm not a "though love" person but I think this might be necessary. Listen, she's a grown woman, who works, who should be financially independent, or at least responsible enough to foresee a situation like this and either save for a rent or start looking at her options so don't let yourself be pushed into taking her in. Esp. when she's not the humblest/collaborative of the guests, doesn't respect your parenting rules, etc. I apologise in advance if anything I said about her doesn't apply Grin Seriously, though, it's not really your/your DH's responsibility to take care of a 30yo (IIRC) woman! If she were 19-20, ok, but if she's capable of earning a good salary as you've mentioned before then she's capable of administrating it and knowing better.

Fingers crossed for the house share with RL friends to have some good results on the bathing front for C Smile

Oh, I just realised I used the wrong verb yesterday Blush It was supposed to be plough, not plow!

I went to bed last night and woke up and hour and a half later full of cold, stuffed nose and all Sad Oh well, that makes two poorly people in the household. M has a cold/cough besides the tummy bug atm. Lots of tea and TLC, I guess! Smile

It keeps snowing here so stuck at home as well.

Waves to all!

bigcar · 30/11/2010 13:09

afternoon all Smile

well, we have snow and plenty of it! There was barely a dusting when I woke up this morning but it's been coming down thick and fast ever since. Took me 15 minutes to get to school this morning as it normally would, 45 minutes to get home again, not nice Hmm Dd2 is going to be sent home early, just had a text from school so I'm thinking I will go to get ds1 and dd3 when she gets back.

gauchita, dd1 has about 5 weeks before she has to be back at uni but she has a weeks school placement next week at a local school. The other dcs finish on the 17th, so over a full week for them to get totally wound up about christmas before the big day, the snow better have cleared by then! Thanks for letting us know about bunny, wonderful news Smile Hope you and M are feeling better.

ssshhhhh, you shouldn't have mentioned 'plow' I hadn't noticed! But it has reminded me of a conversation I had with a french friend of a friend quite a few years back. We were all off out and I was supposed to be telling them where to meet us but I'd forgotten the name of the pub. So I went for where it was and the french friend got where I meant and said, thet's the ploff, to which we all looked a little puzzled Hmm it was the plough. Couldn't fault his logic, cough pronounced coff, plough pronounced ploff, did have a bit of a giggle!

june, do you have snow now? Dd1 has been home since we got meow but I think she was hiding at the time! She has seen her on skype though and can't wait for a cuddle. I see mil is excelling herself again, am guessing that's where sil is getting it from? I'm with gauchita, stay strong and don't take any crap, she's old enough to stand on her own 2 feet

strawberry, so it was you who bought the snow to London then Grin

well, we have about 3 inches of snow tops and everything has come to a stand still Hmm I went to get ds1 and dd3 early in the end when dd2 got home. It took me half an hour to get there and an hour to get home again, when there's no traffic it's a 5/10 minute journey. School is closed tomorrow Smile Dh left work at half past four I told him to leave an hour earlier and he's still not home maybe next time he'll listen don't think he's too far away now though.

took E out the front to play in the snow earlier, put some pics on my profile. He wasn't overly keen, stood on one spot and refused to move Hmm but he did keep bending down and picking up bits of snow and throwing them. Yes I know he doesn't have a hat on but he did start off with one . . . and had his hood up, he really doesn't like them. He did have his thick coat on and a big bodywarmer too, surprised he could move at all to be honest Grin

morning all Smile

strawberry, wine was lovely, thanks Grin It took dh 3 3/4 hours to get home, normally a 25 minute journey Shock and his friend that he was with had another hour on top to get 10 minutes up the road! The council don't appear to have gritted anywhere Hmm and we live on a busy main road.

at least all the dcs are off today so no worries about the school run today [yay] so I will be staying in the warm and drinking lots of tea!

waves to all, hope you're all keeping warm Smile

bigcar · 01/12/2010 11:36

strawberry, your poor bil, send him our way, we still have about 5 inches and almost all the schools are closed today Xmas Grin We're sort of over Sutton way, so the other end of the northern line, I think june is around your way.

AllSheepareWhite · 01/12/2010 22:47

Xmas Grin Yay! Christmas smilies have cheered me up no end. Had a pants day doing daily supply, bad class with no discipline, had no less than 8 fights to break up in one day. Plus roof is leaking has been for months, but council who should have fixed before we moved in still have not fixed it nearly six months later Xmas Angry. Not much snow left here, but still freezing out in the wind. N has been off food all day after keeping me up half the night, and I thought canines would be easier than molars silly me!

Opens bottle of wine and puts feet up Xmas Wink

snowwombat · 02/12/2010 08:41

hi girls, glad to see i didn't kill the thread Xmas Smile. Work is manic and I can't seem to multi-task anything this week. Will be back for more when it settles down.
Baby is great, sitting at pelvic brim! Working a huge day next monday, so no baby arrivals before then. Xmas Grin like i have any control over anything!
Snowing here this morning. Not too much around and thankfully we live just off the main road, so getting around with the buggy ok. Off to GP now.
Take care in this weather.

bigcar · 02/12/2010 10:08

morning all Smile

allsheep, oh that's crap, most schools here are still closed today! Hope the leaky roof's not doing too much damage, time to start mentioning local paper and mp to the council may be? Did N have a better night?

snow, you go carefully today, no slipping over, ya hear Xmas Smile And no baby yet please as noone is close on the sweepstake Xmas Grin

Sweepstake:
bigcar: girl, 8lb, 30th (sorry!)
june: Girl, 7 pounds, 25th :D
strawberry: 22nd December, boy, 7lb 2oz
Gauchitabell, 26th December, girl, 3kg 225g
AllSheep: 25th December, girl, 7lb 6oz

well, dcs are off school again today, more snow overnight so it's even worse out now and it's still snowing. Dd1 isn't listening to me at the moment. I told her tuesday, if the snow doesn't clear she will have to get the train back on friday morning, forget lectures and set off early. So she's listened to her boyfriend and booked a train ticket for 4 this afternoon Hmm when the weather her is at it's worst and when the trains and underground have severe disruptions. She even moaned when I told her to make sure she has a blanket and food with her Xmas Hmm I. Give. Up.

waves to all, keep warm Xmas Smile

GauchitaBell · 02/12/2010 20:20

Hi all!

Well it's poorly people galore here, let me tell you! Xmas Grin I have a sore throat, a runny nose, the works... and I took M to the docs today after she started having temperature on and off and she was prescribed ABs. One of her inner ears is quite red Xmas Sad Let's hope the ABs clear everything.

Allsheep, wow that was a crappy day for you at school, hope the wine was good, and today the kidlets were better behaved!

Snow, no way, hold that baby in, lady! As bigcar says, we're not even near the sweepstake dates! Xmas Grin I thought work was over by now but you have a little bit more to go yet, hope it's not too heavy and after Monday you can put your feet up Xmas Smile

Bigcar, ohhhh how I remember those days when I behaved just like your DD1 Xmas Grin I wouldn't have done it in the same situation as I'm a big wuss but there were plenty of other situations Xmas Grin Well, you did a lot by warning her and talking to her and offering advice so if she didn't want to listen, then she'll probably have to bear the consequences learn Xmas Wink Lovely pics of the DC and the snow. Over here no enjoyment yet as we've been so down with colds, etc. M walked on the drive today when we came back from the docs, though, and loved the snow Xmas Smile

Strawberry, hope your BIL is feeling better and got to enjoy the snow a bit Xmas Grin Lovely pic of L and the snow!

June, are you going away with your friends this weekend?

Snow is getting disruptive for everyone up here Xmas Hmm it keeps snowing and we're inches and inches under snow now. I've texted my former driving instructor for a lesson on how to tackle this weather. I didn't work so hard for a license to spend God knows how many more weeks indoors Xmas Grin

Waves!

bigcar · 03/12/2010 10:16

morning all Smile

gauchita, oh that sounds crap, hope you're all feeling better soon. Dd1 very rarely listens to me, most things it doesn't matter but this had me worried. Thankfully she half listened because she left much earlier yesterday than she was planning to and was back at her boyfriends just after 6 last night, I dread to think what would have happened if she had left at the time she originally planned. It didn't stop snowing here yesterday so it was getting worse as the day went on. But she's back now so panic over Xmas Smile

june, enjoy your weekend away. You couldn't remind us of your ideas for a new thread could you, think we're in need now Xmas Smile

the schools are all closed again today [yay] so no having to trog out in this cold with all the ice and snow. Dcs have been out in the garden trying to build an igloo Xmas Hmm they've managed the foundations so far!

waves to all Smile

snowwombat · 03/12/2010 11:48

we are about to go swimming Xmas Hmm
Mother guilt- last two weeks and then A will have to miss a term or two while the baby gets sorted. He loves swimming and I feel v bad he will miss his lessons.

Sorry for the me me me.

bigcar let us know how the igloo goes!
gauchita how is your house of ill-health? Living on hot sugary tea here and hot water with honey and lemon for the throat. A is having saline sprayed up his nose to help his snotty situation
allsheep what a horror day. How was the wine??? Had a great knappstein reisling the other night. Are the kidlets any better? Hope your Granny is ok!
june how is the IL situation? Thinking of you
What lovely news for bunny will have to send her a PM.

Right, wish me luck!

June2009 · 03/12/2010 13:14

heya, been caught up in packing for our weekend to centerparcs (leaving in a minute).
the thread suggestion was "Terrible twos, here we come!" (not very exciting, open to other suggestions!)
I hope juners with colds are going to get better over the weekend, I found ibuprofen helped (not sure whether you can it when pregnant snow) By the way I thought you had started maternity leave, when do you stop working?
I haven't seen mil since her last outburst, as for sil well I think this is what people call a love-hate relationship ("hate" is too strong a word but you know what I mean). Never had one of those before and don't really know how to handle it.
sam how long are you in Barnet for? We should be back on Monday.

bigcar is dd back home now?

catch up when we get back, C is up that's our cue to go!

morning all Smile

june, hope you had a good weekend, I love centerparcs, think I might have spent the whole weekend in the pool Xmas Smile

snow, it seems the fun of the igloo was in the planning Xmas Hmm they've loved all the snow and of course all the snowball fights Xmas Grin

strawberry, belated happy birthday to your dh Xmas Smile

a lot of the snow here has melted, still fairly bad until yesterday when most of it melted but there is a lot of ice, especially on the footpaths. It's not good, the footpath outside school was awful, like an ice rink, dd3 really struggled. Not sure it's going to clear either as it's bloody cold still and not forecast to get any warmer from what I can see.

at least most of the dcs after school stuff has finished or will finish this week. Scout band tonight, dd2 can't wait, they gave her a bell lyre and she's mastered eye level on it so she wants to go show off. Ds1 doesn't want to go at all as it's his last cubs before he goes up to scouts and they're having their christmas party tonight. Dd1 is spending most of her time back here at her boyfriends but she's hopefully coming over tonight which will be nice. She's got a weeks school placement this week so no break for her yet!

waves to all, hope you're all keeping warm Xmas Smile

GauchitaBell · 06/12/2010 19:28

Hi all!

Bigcar, same here, no snow but lots and lots of ice. So dangerous, our parking downstairs is half-inclined, putting M in her car seat has proved a challenge Xmas Grin I also realised I have no ice-friendly shoes Xmas Hmm Boots are a no-no for now, I almost landed on my head on Saturday Xmas Blush Hope DD2 has a blast tonight and shows off her skills Xmas Smile

Strawberry, happy belated birthday to your DH. How's L doing at night? Any nightmares still?

June, hope you had a great weekend. Oh, do come tell us if there was any improvement with bath-time Xmas Smile Any news on the ILs?

Snow, brrrrr hope the pool area was super heated. Don't feel guilty, there are many other things you'll all do together, and soon enough you'll be taking both DC swimming Xmas Smile

Hi to everyone else!

I'm still poorly, M's getting better fortunately. However, the cold, the ailments, the early darkness, and things going on, everything is getting to me these days and I'm feeling sorry for myself today.

My birthday is coming up and I'm always so happy to celebrate it and have a nice day and then this weekend I heard two couples we had invited have fallen out horribly (and due to gossip!) and now I feel like cancelling the whole thing and just having lunch with DH and M Xmas Sad I'd hate to have people with long faces at lunch or even worse, going for each other's necks right there and then! I'm rambling, sorry, it's the flu talking.

I'm off to watch some TV, take some flu medicine and a cup of hot tea.

Waves

snowwombat · 06/12/2010 20:39

passes gauchita a hot lemon and honey drink
Sorry you still suffering with your cold. Miserable isn't it. What a pain about your friends falling out, can you be bothered to try and sort it out? Or would it just be easier to go for a lovely lunch with DH and M? What date is your birthday?

bigcar how was DD2's scout band night? Sounds lovely.Did DS enjoy the christmas party? How was the first day of DD1's placement? Thank you for the link to norad Xmas Grin

june how was the weekend? Did you have a good time at centre parks?

strawb you home again now? Did you have a nice time in London?

allsheep are you counting the days till term ends?

Well, huge day of training at work- 7hrs of talking to sites all over the world- was quite cool- we used a teleconference and a web site so I could show presentations. Thank god the technology worked, I felt such relief at getting it done. Will need to be done again next monday but my colleagues should be able to manage if i go into labour Xmas Grin. Nesting now, baked a ham and have soup on with the ham stock on the hob.

Want to get a new mobile phone, does anyone have a HTC desire? I like the idea of being able to MN when out!

GauchitaBell · 07/12/2010 13:24
bigcar · 07/12/2010 13:45

afternoon all Smile

snow, wow impressive, hope you're making time to get some rest when you get the opportunity. Party and band both went well, dd2 has another piece of music to learn so they must have been pleased. Dd1 had a good day, she said there's not much of the usual routine at the moment, everyone is rehearsing and doing crafty type things and little else I think. Dd1 has an HTC desire, it's a better smart phone than the one I've got as it runs a higher version of android so you can play angry birds do all sorts, including mn Xmas Smile It's also got a better camera than mine, I think it's got a flash, not too sure. she's not had any trouble with it.

gauchita, glad you're starting to feel better Xmas Smile It really is miserable at the moment isn't it?! Ooooooooh happy birthday for sunday Xmas Grin

waves and warming tea to all Xmas Smile

June2009 · 07/12/2010 14:11

hey we're back and had a fantastic time at CP (bit more about that later).

gauchita I was going to suggest cancelling as well tbh, I couldn't be bothered with that kind of atmosphere, especially on my bday.
Have a lovely day sunday!

snow I don't know the htc desire, most people I know have an iphone and swear by it. I have an upgrade in feb and probably getting one then (though dh keeps mumbling something about staying on the same contract and not upgrading Hmm.

bigcar how's things with everyone and the cat at home? Glad the party and band went well!

We had a breakthrough for C's fear of water.
We went swimming with our friends and babies. At the start she screamed and screamed and wouldn't go in and was crying and proper shaking when we put her in anyway (dh's idea...).
then we took her to the paddling pool and I took her with me and must have spent an hour inching towards the water veeeeeeerrrrrry slowwwwwwwwwly, I sat in it and slowly put her toes touching it, etc you get the picture.
That first day she ended up still sat on me with her feet in the water up to her ankles.
the next day she was a bit better but still wouldn't leave me for the first half hour but by the end of it she was happily splashing with her friends.
we couldnt have a bath with another one of the kids as she still wouldn't get in but there was no screaming. (and we'd made so much progress i really did not want to force her and be back to square one.)
This morning she asked to go in the bath tub (no water, just toys in there). so we're going to try this week again.
and we're going to the local paddling pool this weekend.

this is short and sweet as I am exhausted and want to catch some sleep before my friend comes over.

will catch up better at some point before the end of year I hope! I keep saying that I will catch up and it never seems to happen, I do read the posts though!!

gauchita hope you are on the mend. A lovely lunch with DH and M sounds great. 30 wow! Happy birthday for sunday.
june Great news on the bath/water situation. You must be so relieved that C is getting over her phobia. Well done!

Having a massage tonight. Should be lovely!
The baby's head is engaged Xmas GrinXmas Grin. Although will probably stay like that for weeks!
