Sorry to hear that Jet

Greedygirl · 03/03/2010 21:01

I've missed loads, just had a good catch up. Lots of talk of potties, wide feet and moving house. Adam hasn't the foggiest what to do with a potty, has his dad's feet (not good) and I would dearly love to move house but it ain't going to happen any time soon.

Good luck with the tutoring LOM (have you started already?) I applied for a lovely job but didn't even get an interview - rubbish!

Sorry to hear about your friend Jet, and also your colleague.

Loopy; have mine and I'll have yours. He never really cried as a baby but cries and whinges all the time now. And he has very set ideas about what he will eat/not eat which are driving me mental. But is also lovely and a bit bonkers inbetween. Poor loves, it is a hard age!

Greedygirl · 03/03/2010 21:02

That sounded a bit perfunctory Jet, hard to convey genuine sympathy online. I always count my blessings too.

jetgirl · 03/03/2010 22:02

Greedy - it didn't sound perfunctory at all, it is harder online even than in writing, i think it's the typing, makes it seem less personal sometimes, but I know your thoughts were genuine Sorry to hear about the job They don't deserve you if they're not even going to interview you!

I am running a Latin reading competition this Friday for over 100 pupils, should be good, but I am looking forward to it being over too! It's been such hard work. On Saturday I'm going to a hen do - can't wait, a night off! I've earned it too, I made DD a red riding hood costume for World book day tomorrow - she looks brilliant, I am very proud of my motherly skills today!

LOM Thanks, thanks, thanks for the shoes!! I'd kind of forgotten so it was a nice surprise to get them in the post today .

Jet about your friend. Hope she and her DP are ok.

littleoldme · 04/03/2010 16:08

Febes - glad the shoes werea pleasant surprise. Hope you can get some use out them; if not, just pass them on.

Jet - Really sad news about your friend.

Loopy - I'm following your potty tales with interest. In this house we've got as far a nightly poo on the toilet as he won;t go near the potty. I tried bribing him to go with chocolate but it seems being allowed to press the flush button is the ultimate treat.

We've had a lovely day with Greedy and Adam today. We went to local tropical place then sat in the sun eating scones and gossiping. It felt almost continental.

Ellie is nowhere near ready for potty training at the moment so i am going to try her on pullups, just purely for the novelty up and down motion of her "nappy". Plus they are less bulky and are easier to put on after swimming etc.

Talking of shoes, does anyone want some red flowery wellies for free, size 6? Only used twice i think. Let me know and i'll post them tomorrow.

That is great Loopy! What a difference a month makes! Adam is settling on his own now (we say we are sitting outside the door), touch wood, and sleeping through most nights so I am now thinking that my next move is to do the timer thing for longer lie-ins! He has also reverted to having naps most days and seems better for it.

But first we have a holiday in Spain to completely mess all routines up!

Spent a lovely SUNNY day in Leeds with LOM and little Tom and now back to freezing cold, sore throat and internal inspection! But on bright side managed to decorate the bedroom at the weekend, my teaching observation went really well and they haven't shortlisted yet for that job so I could still get an interview. Term time only...

Brilliant news Loopy! How you feeling?

RGPargy · 11/03/2010 12:27

Yay Loopy!!! Brilliant news!!!

Great news re DD sleeping too. It makes all the difference, doesn't it!!

Nothing much to mention here really. MIL got it into her head that she was going to put DD in pull ups, but i had told her that i didn't want to go down that route as i think they send LOs mixed messages about it being ok to poo/wee in pants etc. Anyway, she has occassionally put her in one when she's "ran out" of nappies but DD will only let her put them on as a nappy, not as a pull up. Anyway, i thought i would try DD in pull ups too, just for the ease of putting them on really. DD hates them and always creates when i put one near her. Anyway, i have decided that i am right after all and have gone back to nappies (DD actually said "Yay!!" when i showed her the nappy lol) and am not going to mention pull ups or potty training again until the summer, when i decide it's time to potty train. I have however told DD that we will use a pull up after swimming because it's easier than laying her down on the bench or floor in the changing rooms, to which she agreed lol.

I have given up the idea of ever having more children so am going to go through the loft and have a big clear out of most of DD's clothes and toys. We have bags and bags and bags of clothes in the loft! Not sure if it's worth putting them on ebay as a job lot per bag - would i actually get much for them?

Sorry, am rambling now, haha!

DS is still a PITA and not working. Now he's sold his moped, probably just to piss me off and to lessen his chances of finding a job because now he has no transport to get there, gggrrr!!!

I have decided to take the sides off DD's cot this weekend GULP. Should i put a gate on her bedroom door or just make sure the one at the top of the stairs is always shut when she's in bed?

That's a good idea about the travel cot Loopy. We dont have one tho so i might have to rethink that idea, or at the very most, borrow MIL's travel cot! I have to say i am dreading it a bit.....

Loopy Yuck I hate that morning sickness feeling. Sooooo exciting though.

RG We put A in her 'Big Girls Bed' after Christmas and she doesn't get up at all out of it except in the morning and she didn't do that for the first 2 weeks. We do close her bedroom door but don't have a stairgate at the top of the stairs. She loves her bed and trots off there happily for naps and bed time. I put her in knickers for a day last week but she peed without even thinking about the potty and then peed in the next pairs of knickers as well so we are going to have anther go in a few months time.

RGPargy · 11/03/2010 14:54

Sorry you are feeling a bit pants Loopy. I remember with DD i felt really queasy until the day i hit 11 weeks and then it all went away! Hope it doesn't last as long for you!

Febes - I hope Ellie is as good as your DD when it comes to sleep!

I do like the idea of pretty lights on a timer tho - that is something that might possibly work as she loves touching her little twinkly star lights....
