It's actually started snowing here! We've had a few flurries but nothing serious today, though enough to send the kids at school crazy and I was just about to have a whinge abour the lack of snow when I looked out of the wind and it's really coming down. Not sure if it will settle as the ground is a bit soggy.

RG - I hope dd gets her party! The weather forecasts have been so changeable it's impossible to predict the next few days.

Off to bed with my hot water bottle now Grin

Hi all
Well I am on day 3 of no work due to the weather! After trying for an hour and a half and getting only half way to work on Monday I gave up and went home. Yesterday college had to shut due to site probs and today we have about a foot of snow and there is no way I even attempting it! Every school is closed in the region but not the college! Ridiculous. So I sympathise with you Loopy - headteachers can be a bit bonkers sometimes! Must be the cold Grin.

RG - hope your party goes ahead and goes well. What a bummer if you still have to pay!

Jet - oooh hot water bottles! I must have a root around for mine.

jetgirl · 01/12/2010 11:26

Loopy - in our 99p store they have butterfly shaped silicone moulds. If I'd realised sooner I could have sent you one! They're pretty good according my friend who has one. Still no snow here either, it didn't settle at all, it's just absolutely freezing. The road outside our house, a main road, has become more treacherous as the morning has gone on though and it's not been gritted Shock Drivers are still heading down it pretty quickly.

Greedy - I don't think we're going to get any snow days. Probably for the best, my yr11s have a mock next Friday and they need to prepare. I am resorting to biscuit bribery to get them to lunchtime revision sessions!

Going to bake some mince pies today, now it's December I'm allowing myself to feel festive Xmas Grin

Loopy - did trousers arrive. If not I'll chase.

They're beautiful girls, Loopy Smile

febes · 01/12/2010 15:54

Gorgeous girls Loopy!!! Congrats on your 4th girl (eeekkkkkkk) I'm sure your DH will be fine and think of the money your'll save in clothes!!!

Anabel's birthday last monday. We had a nice family day and made her a lizard cake.

RGPargy · 02/12/2010 01:26

Well, DP has just measured the snow again and it's now 10 inches (25cm!!!)!! Shock Just looked at the weather and there is ANOTHER 10cm due on top of what we've already had. Errrk!! DP is home again tomorrow and probably friday too (sorry Loopy!). I told him that it's better to lose a day's money than to lose his life etc etc.

Looks like we might have to postpone/cancel DD's party on Sunday after all. I'm not sure they will charge us due to the weather etc but i will phone them tomorrow and find out what the situation is. I could postpone it til the following weekend but i dont know if everyone can make it then. At the end of the day, the minimum is 10 kids so if only 5 turn up, i'll still have to pay for 10. If i can get away with cancelling it i will do and just have a few friends round later when the roads are clear.

Loopy - your girls are gorgeous!!! So pretty!

Gorgeous, gorgeous girls Loopy! How do you feel about having a 4th girl?!

Snow still really deep here, my first official day off of the week so it was really nice to not have to worry and do the whole "should I/shouldn't I?" type discussion first thing in the morning. Just pulled Adam round to a friends house on his sledge and chilled so that was nice.

RG - what a PITA re your party! Surely they will give you your money back under the circumstances? I hope so. We are due to go to a bday party on Saturday but hopefully it will be slightly better by then.

Febes - hello! Are you still in SA? Happy belated birthday. Did she like her lizard?

Jetgirl - you are always baking, you put me to shame! I had an attack of weevils in the summer and chucked all my baking stuff out so I must go and get some supplies tomorrow and do some xmas baking Xmas Smile

P.S. Jetgirl - I can report that John Bishop was very funny, especially about being a parent and hope you get to go and see him. But the heating was working so it was v.v.cold!

Off to have a peek at Patch!

Greedygirl · 02/12/2010 21:32

Happy birthdays to Ellie and Loopy3! Blush I've forgotten her name.

Am Angry at dh who has forgotten it's our 12 year anniversary today and has gone to bed still suffering from a hangover from yesterday leaving me with the washing up.

Happy birthday Loopy DD3 for yesterday! Is she still 3? Adam has been claiming that he is 3 for at least 6 months anyway as it is his favourite number for some unknown reason. Softplay with a book sounds very civilised. Adam is more independent than previously but still likes to involve me. How kind! Can't think of a new thread title, sorry, will keep trying.

Jetgirl - dare I ask - has your DH remembered yet? Was it your wedding anniversary or just getting together anniversary? We always both forget our getting together anniversary until a month afterwards.

Well it is still thick snow here and no sign of melting cos it is freeeeeeeeeeezing. Back at work and all the students are winding down for xmas so it really is a bit crap all in all. Roll on the hols!

Hiya - very quiet on here! Hope everyone OK and not in too much of a meltdown up to xmas. Have you all tried portablenorthpole.tv? You can do a message from Santa for your LOs and Adam was completely transfixed. You can upload photos too which added to the magic for Adam who is now convinced that Santa has been keeping an eye on him (bit sinister!) and I got him to eat loads of broccoli and carrots the other night by the power of Santa! Very excited about xmas - what could be nicer than waking up on xmas morning as a 3 year old?!
