Yeah i would deffo say to tie tibetan and lexi for a long stretch. I have found the secret to a good lexi is to leave the straps a little looser thanx normal when you twist it and then just kind of lean forward and flick it up to as high as you can get it! It normally works for me, anyway!

What's this other one you are looking at? The Toddlerhawk? You can get them with XL straps.

No hurry for the MT back. Keep it for another couple of weeks if you like.

Greedygirl · 26/01/2010 22:22

This is a whole new language for me! I was only thinking today that I really should have given the whole baby wearing thing a go with Adam, he is still such a cuddly tot and was only really happy when being held as a babe.

DH has been putting him to bed recently with far more success than me (I was trapped in the whole holding hand/waking up if I moved an inch thing) and I feel like he is really growing up which is lovely but also a bit sad.

He is so funny and cheeky at the mo. If we ask him a question he says "Not!" rather than "no". 2 year check up went well but they didn't sign him up to MENSA/modelling agency - flaming cheek!

I absolutely second Loopy's recommendations on BW for the next one! It's fabulous and i am convinced it brings you closer to your LOs, even when they are toddlers etc because they sit on your back and chat away to you about things they see, which a) they might not see from a buggy and b) you wouldn't hear them chatting away if they were in a buggy. I love it - just a shame that DD is preferring to walk or use the buggy at the moment! I am wondering if perhaps i smell or something because i dont know why she's on BW strike!!

Loopy - Oooo i'm loving that Himmel!! Himmels are fab fab fab so deffo a great choice there! Strange why that woman never got back to you from ebay

That's a lovely Dream Carrier! I'd say you'd get away with the Himmel for a boy. TBH i wouldn't care what colour the carrier was if i loved it enough! Good luck with trying for a boy. I need to get DP extremely drunk and get him to agree for me to have my coil removed before i finally have to hang up my ovaries for good, seeing as i'm getting on a bit lol.

If i did hide the pushchair, DD would insist on walking lol. An alternative is the ring sling but it's no good for longer trips as she's getting sooo heavy!!

Yay for the Dream Carrier!!

Wow, so it's official then? You're deffo TTC and not just wishing you could?! How exciting!! Good luck Loopy! I am very slightly tho.

Hi all, I am so busy at the moment I haven't had chance to get on here for a couple of weeks.

William had the follow up to his 2 year check and HV decided he is still too short (despite growing 2cm in the last 2 months) so is referring him to a paediatrician. My cousin cheered me up by telling me he was 5th centile for height when a boy, and he's now the tallest in our clan at 6'2" - and he ate practically nothing as a child!

otherwise, just really busy with work - parents' evenings and stuff. DD pushed a boy at school yesterday which is utterly out of character for her so I had to talk to her teacher yesterday. I have banned her from cbeebies website until she apologises (she wouldn't at school)

Loopy - wow - good luck with TTC! William still cuddles my boob despite weaning 3 months ago. If he's under the weather he still just sticks his hand down my top to compfort himself

I never did babywearing either - I suppose I should have as both mine are little! William loves walking now, and his dropping his nap sometimes too but he is wiped out at bedtime which is good! he was in asleep within 25 minutes of bedtime yesterday - including getting changed washed and reading Stickman, his current favourite book.

Adam has dropped his nap now (well for me anyway, still goes down beautifully for his child minder )and it does make for a speedy bed time but we have a few tears and tantrums towards bedtime when he is pooped.

Was my birthday yesterday and I went to get my haircut and was shocked at all my wrinkles in the mirror when I smile! So from now on I am going to adopt a lovely serene face, no smiling, no frowning and absolutely no laughing.

Haven't got Stickman, just getting into Harry and his bucket of dinosaurs.

RGPargy · 30/01/2010 23:44

I have, over the last few weeks, made sure that Ellie has her afternoon nap otherwise she gets really naughty and grumpy from about 4pm!! She normally protests a little bit when i first mention the word "snooze" but she goes off within about 2 minutes so she obviously still needs her nap, bless her. Dare i say it, bed time is lovely and easy at the moment too. I normally put her up to bed at around 7ish after her milky and story(ies) and dont hear a peep out of her until the morning! Generally she wakes up from around 7am too so i think i am pretty blessed!

Books we are reading at the moment are Jessie Cat (from Sing and Sign) and a lovely little story called The Wish Cat, plus numerous other little books that she likes to read before bed (normally about 4 books!).

febes · 31/01/2010 19:42

RG A sounds like E. She goes to bed at 6-6.30pm and wakes at around 7am or later. DS is now sharing with her and he is sleeping much better and sometimes goes through but more often wakes for one feed. A does fight me a bit at nap time but normally goes down after a minute or 2. She is in a big bed now too so I'm very pleased with her.

RGPargy · 01/02/2010 10:09

Febes - wow, 6-6.30!! that must be lovely!! In a big bed too! I'm terrified of putting DD in a big bed. I just think she'll be running around upstairs causing a riot if she knows she can escape!

Yes I'm lucky with A she has always been a great sleeper. R on the other hand is proving a little more tricky!!!
RG- I was amazed at how easily A took to the big bed. I was imagining she would keep getting up. The most we have had to put her back in her bed has been 3 times and that is for nap time. At bed time she has never got out. She usually just sits up and calls out in the morning too. Sometimes she gets up and comes into us though. I wouldn't have put her in the bed so quickly if I hadn't needed the cot for R but I'm glad it has gone so well.

How was the new MT Loopy? Sorry that you have missed out on TTC this month! Your holiday plans sound exciting!! I dont envy your drive home from Folkestone to Devon tho! Give me a wave when you drive past the Chatham turnoff on the M20! Great stuff re the sling - thanx for that. So glad to be of assistance!

Febes - Hope you get R's sleeping pattern sorted out soon!

I have been wondering myself if E is ready to have the sides taken off her cot now because at bed time she is happy to go to her room and wait til i have her bag ready and then hop into bed. I am wondering if she'd be ok with the sides off and a duvet on her bed now.

So now on to dummies. DD was doing really well and hardly had it at all during the day until she got ill a few months ago and now she pretty much has to have two on the go at the same time ALL the time unless she's distracted and happily playing. They are now driving me NUTS and i want to get rid of them or at least cut them down. I am thinking that she needs them at the moment because she is still a tiny bit poorly or is feeling unsettled. Any advice would be fab!!

Glad you will be prepped up for the trip!

Glad you are happy with the new sling. As much as i love my Bamberoo, the hood is a complete PITA and really doesn't work the way it should. The idea is great as it looks lovely but trying to get it onto a DC's head with the straps is impossible so therefore it's pretty useless. Such a shame! I've quite often thought about attaching a length of material to the middle of it so that i can kinda pull it up from the middle rather than just the sides. I received it back in the post this morning - thanx very much! Thanx for the lovely card too - dibs noted.

Thanx for the advice re piglet/dummies. It's a really good idea and i might try that with DD. She generally is good about leaving stuff at home when we go out so to try a dummy too would be a great idea, especially if it works!!

Yikes!!

I just found 3 stashed down the back of the "poof"!! I think they might have been dropped down there tho because her face was a picture when i pulled them out! GASP "PIIIIINK!!!!!" Like a long lost friend (or three!) lol.

littleoldme · 08/02/2010 22:44

RG- My nephew gave all of is dummies to Mickey Mouse at Disney Paris . My sister said Mickey was most understanding.

Loopy - Hope the trip goes well. Sounds like you are very well organised. Good luck with TTC I've got my legs fingers crossed for you.

I think I'm going to put Tom in bed soon. He keeps hooking his foot over the top; his got is quite narrow and I'm worried he'll tip it over if he tries to climb out.

I'm on the brink of going back to work. The govt is rolling out an initiatve to tutor kids individually in Maths and EWnglish. Each targetting child gets 1 hour a week for 10 weeks. All the stuff I love about teaching but with non of the bollocks. can't wait to get started. It'll only be day or two a week but it'll be good to be able to feel positive about work again.
