Oooo Kobalt Rouge is lovely!! Lucky lucky you!

Jet & Greedy - I loved loved loved carrying Ellie in her sling/meitai carrier. She really used to enjoy being up high and chatting to me over my shoulder. It was wonderful. I am now so so so sad that she has grown out of being carried (for some time now!!) and it got to the point where i was going to beg (or trick!) DP into letting us have another baby, just purely so that i could still wear a baby. However i thought that having another child just so i can wear them was a bit extreme, haha. Having said that, i am now exceptionally broody again but i think that at nearly 43, i should probably be thinking about hanging up my ovaries, rather than putting them to work again.... Hmm

Greedy - hope you have some success with your local CM! I wonder if Adam going "begging" with everyone got them more stuff because he was so cute?? It's fab when they start being polite isn't it (not that it lasts for long, of course!). If anyone says to DD "Hello Ellie, how are you?", she always replies "I'm really well, thank you". Bless her! :o

Jet - DP and I finally managed to get onto the PS3 the other night as we now have it in our bedroom. DS decided to accidentally fry the hard drive and thankfully DP managed to find a way to restore it. Anyway, i logged in under my username etc and there you were listed as a friend! It's funny because it said you were last logged in 22 months ago - probably about the same time as me. I found it quite funny that our DCs were around the same age when we stopped playing. There's no way i was playing COD4 (or "Death", as i call it) in front of DD. Even tho DP thought it would be ok and she wouldn't know what she was watching, it was just all the gunfire and blood, guts and people dieing that i just didn't want her to witness! There's enough death and destruction in this world without putting her in front of fake stuff!!

Sorry, went off on a bit of a soapbox thing there.... Blush

Not sure if i've mentioned it but i have booked to take DD to the panto in December - I cannot wait!! We went to see Show Me Show Me back in April at a local theatre and she absolutely loved it so i am hoping she will love this too. I think it should be fun!

:o

Greedy - I think you had another thread about your childcare nightmare didn't you? I had no words of wisdom I'm afraid but fingers crossed for this new one! 2 streets away is soooo convenient too. 'You're welcome' is so cute!

RG - I quite agree with you about violent computer games in front of the kids. In a way I think it's more scary if they don't understand what they're watching. I always moan at DH if he tries to play the PS3 on a Sunday afternoon (unless it's a family friendly game like the Buzz games which the kids really enjoy). WHen I got home from a night round a friend's house, I found DH and William watching American Pie 2! (William had woken up and wouldn't go back to sleep)

We're going to see Peter Pan for the kids first panto this year. A proper one, no soap stars or other d list celebs!

littleoldme · 03/11/2010 15:59

At last, a sec or two to catch up. Patch is having along snooze and T and I are watching Toy Story 2.

I can easily see how one could get addicted to slings. I love the one Loopy has loaned me and wish I'd used one more when T was teeny.

Greedy - Meant to say a big thanks for the Gruffalo cards. T loves them; he likes holding them up randomly and shouting "Snap!"
Hope the childcare gets sorted, sounds like a nightmare.

RG- Def with you on the computer games thing.

Quite fancy panto but think Tom would be freaked out by it, he's not too good with 'fake' faces and dressed people. Hopefully next year.

Well birth story time, not that there is anything dramatic to tell as it all went pretty smoothly.

We turned up at the hosp at the appointed hour and had much amusement whil DH 'helped' me into a my gown and a pair of surgical stockings. We reflected that he would not make a good Ladies' maid.

I went for my spinal at about 11. Having been nil by mouth since midnight I was now throughly fixated on the marmite sandwich and cherry bakewell I had packed for afterwards.

Last time I didn't even notice the drugs they gave me as I was sooo tired. this time it was a bigger deal- the spinal was painful and poor old DH passed out. They just kind of kicked him out of the way. The staff really looked after me. The drugs made me sick and very shakey.

The sensation of the sugery was really weird as I could feel lots of pulling and pressure but no pain. DH was once again looking glassy eyed , though me maintains he was fine, and was sent out ! He made it back in just after they delivered Patch.

And that was pretty much it. I very much enjoyed my sandwiches and cherry bakewell. We had one hairy moment as P was having his first feed. He went blue and the MW yelled for the doc and resuc unit. He was fine though, just mucousy and relfexes abit confused. I was so glad we were is hosp though.

The aftercare was fab, there were only 9 women on the 27 bed ward so the midwives were pretty much on tap.

Time to go as Tom is trying to 'help' me type.

Lom - sounds like quite a relaxed experience this time round, patch going blue during his feed must have been scary though! Funnily enough, William and I watched Toy Story 2 today! William loves buzz and we've got him one for his birthday (half price in sainsburys too, yay!)

Greedygirl · 04/11/2010 19:13

Hi all

RG - I agree re computer games, he loves to play on the Wii sport games for a treat but knows that he is not allowed to do the boxing "punching game" or fencing "hitting with sticks" - cue lots of questions as to who does play the games and why some people like punching!

Lots of tricky questions at the mo, he is very interested in poppies for rememberance day and demanded an explanation so I had to do a toddler guide to war!

Jetgirl - yes I did have another thread re the childcare, I was so stressed out and needed to vent! It was interesting hearing the different views and one mnetter even sent me a private message to offer advice and support which was great. I now have 3 potential CMs locally! Hope I can get it all sorted soon. Now starting to feel that maybe my current CM has done me a favour but I will hold back from feeling too smug until I have a contract in my hands!

LOM - thanks for sharing your birth story and glad T likes his cards. Adam has a set too but he drives me nuts by throwing them everywhere. I remember being sick and shaky with the epidural too but so relieved after being in labour for so long so I guess that just having the spinal without any contractions must be a shock to the system! Yuck. Blue face not good! Glad he has got the hang of it now. Is T calming down at all? I am finding Adam very trying at the moment, inbetween the cute moments so my face looks like this Smile Grin Shock Angry Confused on a loop!

RGPargy · 05/11/2010 23:34

LOM - birth story sounds lovely and relaxed!! :o

I am trying to convince DP that it's a good idea to have another baby. He wants a puppy, i want a baby!! He was showing me pics of cute little puppies and i was showing him pics of DD as a newborn!! Bless him, he was welling up and had big fat tears in his eyes!! He didn't say no, so you never know..... Hmm Wink

Talking of Toy Story 2, i must sit DD in front of Toy Story 1. I'm sure she will love it :)

Greedygirl · 07/11/2010 18:36

OMG I am so fedup! My childcare probs seem to be going from bad to worse with no local CMs accredited for the free vouchers when they reach 3. Seriously considering a nursery which is hard as there are not many good ones in the area. I feel like the past 2 years that I have been back at work, we have constantly been compromising with childcare and now it continues. Moan, moan, moan!!!!

RGPargy · 07/11/2010 21:37

Oh Greedy, what a pain!!! Finding the right childcare is such a hassle isn't it. I remember it well when DS was little. I am soooo lucky with DD now tho as MIL looks after her for the two days i work. I'm so glad i dont have the worry of finding childcare.... Hmm

jetgirl · 07/11/2010 23:17

Oh greedy, what a pain. I am so lucky that we have a brilliant nursery for William. After school care is less easy though for dd. Last year she had a brilliant afterschool club which she loved, but it ha to close. I am lucky this year because a colleague and I look after each other's dds as we work different days, but this could change again next year. I have an inset day tomorrow I have to attend so I've got the mil down to do the school run and take care of William which saves a day's nursery fees.

Thanks all for your messages, I am feeling much better today, getting my head around Adam potentially going to nursery (have identified a couple of better ones) and generally moving on!

RG - it is a complete PITA, I have considered everything from leaving work to becoming a CM myself (I would be terrible lol!). You getting on with your MIL these days? Or am I thinking of someone else?

Jetgirl - William and Adam have always seemed kind of similar from the posts so hopefully Adam will take to nursery too!

Loopy - I would love to have a HB next time round! Have you ever had a HB?

One of my colleagues told me she is preggers today so I will be getting some heavy duty baby talk in soon I hope! We have some dolls at work called "baby think it over", they simulate crying etc. to help the learners think about the implications of having a baby. I got them out for a session for my school links group today and immediately picked the baby boy out and kissed him on the head, completely unconsciously! So glad no-one saw me!! The girls were so funny with the crying babies but quite scarily, it didn't put them off in the slightest. Wait till they have them overnight!

Hi all. I promise that this is the last time I will mention my childcare woes! We looked around Lee's work nursery today and it looked good. Plus we get it half-price - woohoo! She said we could have as many free taster/settling in sessions as we liked so I will hopefully feel reassured. We didn't use his work nursery when I first went back to work as it was having a bit of a torrid time with all kinds of child protection issues (child to child) happening.

Loopy - I had a read of your thread although I won't pretend to understand all the abbreviations, but I completely sympathise, giving birth in hospital was the last thing that I wanted to do but it turned out ok, labour ward was great, post-natal was horrible - how long would you have to stay in if you did have a bleed?

Curry tonight and night out tomorrow Grin!

Greedy - half-price nursery fees - that's great! I hope Adam enjoys it, Wiliam certainly does and has a great cirle of friends. He is going up to the next room soon, I'm a bit sad as it means he's growing up and leaving behind his lovely keyworker and the brilliant girls who work in his current room, but we know the ones in Big Bears and they are great too.

LOM - hope you got some sleep Smile

Loopy - I hope you get all the help you need with this decision, sounds like a tricky one. I have to say I was very happy with my hospital care (though I think this is a bit of a lottery from talking with friends who've given birth in the same place - maybe I was better at being bossy vocalising my opinions! Or maybe I just hit the shifts with the best MWs

I had a night out with a few mums from nursery on Saturday, just a few drinks at the pub but it was lovely and I think we'll make it a regular thing.

It's cold and wet here today and William is not impressed! He did not enjoy the school run this morning and is currently watching Thomas the tank engine while I do housework and catch up with you! I'm attempting Nigella's meatloaf for tea this evening, by special request of DD who saw it on tv on Sunday morning and thought it looked nice! Then at some point I have to make William's spiderman birthday cake ready for Saturday. He is very excited about being 3 Grin

Just catching up. Lost you all!!

Hope you got some sleep LOM.

Greedy - Half price nursery fees - bonus!

Loopy - hope you and DD2 are better soon.

Jet - Good on you for making DS's b'day cake! I will be copping out this year and yet again will buy one from Asda or such like. I am also copping out on the birthday party too and am having it at our local soft play centre lol. I just cant be dealing with having 10-12 kids in my front room, walking sandwiches and cake through my (already grubby and badly chosen) beige carpet!!

What's everyone else doing for their DC's third birthdays? (can you believe they are going to be THREE?!!! Shock)

Fair enough Loopy!! It can cost a fortune when you have more than one party to cater for! If i had my way we'd do that sort of thing too.... Hmm

hello, typing one handed so forgive the
lack of puctuation etc. P finally seems to be sleeping better,I'm giving him infacol, am slightly dubious but seems to working. He's now waking about every two hours and is easier to settle. We had a run of about five nights when he really didn't sleep at all unless I cuddled him - I was beginning to go a bit mental.

I can't believe they are all about to be 3! It has flown. We are having a soft play party which we are sharing with two other kids from the nct group. It makes it very cheap and makes sense as we have lots of friends in common.

Have finally sorted out pre school for T. He's been offered two places at school nurseries but he can't go as he isn't potty trained Grrrrrr. He's staying at his lovely playgroup and doing two afts in a local private nursery which is lovely.
