Tyaca I can't quite remember why it's so bad, but it was... It usually starts about 7 months and is bad for a few months, although you might be lucky. I think DS1 got his back teeth recently as was a bit off colour and off his food and kept putting his hand in his mouth (not done that since he was a baby).

I MUST TURN THE COMPUTER OFF.

rozzyraspberry · 12/05/2008 13:32

Hi everyone!

Glad illnesses have gone Gill and Beany!

I've lost 1lb this week.

Tyaca - not all babies suffer badly when teething. We never had any real problems with ds1 and ds2 - law of averages though I'm sure ds3 will be a nightmare!! DS1 got his first tooth at 20 weeks and ds2 at 6 months so I suppose it might not be long until it starts again!

Take care all.

omy · 12/05/2008 14:41

Hi all! Am pleased to report that LO has not puked since last night at 9pm!! yay - she is over the worst - bad news is my 11yr old and I have now got the tummy bug! We were puking all night! It was not fun trying to look after a sick 11 yr old when feeling sick oneself and having had no sleep the night before due to LOs puking!

Still all is much better now as both 11yr old and LO are in bed asleep and no-one has puked yet today!!! My washing machine has not stopped for 3 days! -and thank god for the sunshine

Worst thing was that 11yr old has SATS exams at school this week which they 'must not miss' - so the poor thing had to go to school this morning and do 2 tests on an empty stomach and 2 hours sleep!

Egg -Am so glad that your DD is doing better on her new milk. that must be a relief.

Beany - so glad your DH is better! - I am terrified my DD1 will get this bug as she has GCSE exams starting Friday! I have been cleaning all day to try and rid the house of germs!

On the plus side - I MUST have lost some weight since no food has stayed down since yesterday morning! - I don;t have any scales though so I can't check!

OP posts:
omy · 12/05/2008 14:45

Tyaca - I LOVE Mondays - such peace! - I never weigh myself which is why I don;t have any scales! I just go by how tight my clothes are - though no having any scales led me to a false sense of thinking I was about 10 stone when I now find that I am 11!!

Am off to deal with laundry mountain...

Omy - you poor things. Double puking is grim. Hope your 11yo is ok, having to sit SATs just sounds horrible. Can illness be taken into account?

Boo - have gained a lb. Not sure how that happened.

What a nightmare omy!! At least lo is better now - that must have been a worry for you. And although it's crap that you and dd2 have been ill at least it gives you some reassurance that it was a tummy bug that was bothering her rather than anything more serious. Fingers crossed dd1 doesn't get it - things must be fraught in your house just now with all these exams!!

Beany - you've put on a pound due to all the extra milk you're carrying around after ds2 growth spurt - at least that's the sort of thing I say to myself in these situations.

beansprout · 12/05/2008 20:51

Oh fab rozzy, what a brilliant explanation!!!

princessllama · 13/05/2008 01:50

welcome back bean seems ages. glad dh on mend hopefully not glandula fever then? fingers crossed.
omy what a relief no more vom. crossing f.s for you too re dd.
well done gill for having resurected some norm life
am steaming furious of w10 right now. it's half 1 and i'm pumping milk and typing 1 handed. after a fraught weekend of food poisoning for dh and me -not as bad as you though omy, ds fed for an hour at least every 2 hours all through last night, obviously we had to have huge rows throughout half the night to accompany feeding. the insanity of having the hissing argument when you finally get the baby down and have a chance to sleep. it's doing my nut in ds feeding so often, has been doing it increasingly day and night for past week so can't even blame growth spurt. i was trying to persuade dh to walk him round for an hour in the night to get him to last 3 hours so he'd feed better, but no, obviously dh thought wasn't a good idea, especially as it involved him staying up-managed to row about pretty much everything possible-including-contraception and how maybe i needed to see a shrink because i'd said 'at this point i never want to have sex again' . anyway today wasn't great as sleep deprived and ds and dd decided to have melt down most of am incl. in church when discussing christening with horrified church lady. to top it all, i shut the door not realising dd was in front of it as was holding screaming ds. she fell forward wacking her head on wall-bad bad mother. cue more crying from all. finally got lo to sleep at 8.15. after much discussion of whether dh would wake up for bottle feeding ds at 10 and if should express due to worry of missing a feed and mastitis, i woke at 1am to find he's only doing it then. furious as if i hadn't woken could have had mastitis as boobs felt like rocks and throbbing. also meant had to go and express and we didn't know whether me trying to keep things on good routine with sleep deprived lo made any difference to his sleep. am i going to be screaming lady forever? after never wanting sex again last night feel like don't even want to share bed with dh ever again now so angry with him. just had another row with him obviously.
sorry rant rant rant.
and went to baby massage and yoga where spent most of time feeding ds from bottle and breast whilst surrounded by smug bf mothers who did it all in 15 minutes before yoga started-very depressed watching as fed
will shut up now and go and go to bed

princessllama · 13/05/2008 07:31

yay, after my rant felt much better, made up wth dh and even had a bit more sleep.
forgot to say as well the meet up was great.really good to meet hector, esther and not adrian (my addled brain has forgotten morning g.'s baby's name, only what her dh wants to change the lovely boy's name to-v sorry mg) also good to meet mitford and mg and see tyaca again. i loved the story about mg's mum too-made my dh laugh lots. have a good day everyone

beansprout · 13/05/2008 12:16

Sorry you had a bad night PL, glad you are feeling better now. How is your day going?

A bad night here too, lots of crying and puking which is a bit out of character from the Titch. Following on from the growth spurt, I'm finding it a bit difficult. He's ok at the moment but has generally turned into the Incredible Non-Sleeping Baby and is hardly napping in the day at all. Sigh. Am in a bit of a tired-not managing very well spiral. He did gurgle in his chair for a bit while I cleaned the pushchair though and I am managing to get through some of the (puke covered) mountain of laundry so need to focus on what I am managing to do rather than what I am not.

Dh is being fab, as usual, but he has a lot on at work and ultimately, at 3am with a b/fed baby wanting milk, there is not a lot he can do but I am feeling a bit isolated (in my own home!!).

Ok, rant over, thanks for listening!!

Lucyand2 · 13/05/2008 12:36

I've been away househunting for a week and I know I'll never get time to catch up with everyones news!
I hope everyone and their LO's are doing well and enjoying this lovely weather. It's great for laundry (nappies are out drying nicely) but not so good for DD2 who developed a scabby heatrash on her elbows and legs, poor thing. It's faded now and I've abandoned most of her clothes in favour of those little all in one suits (I can't hink of the name!) DD1 had lots when she was little and they were just the best for summer (there's a pic of one in my profile - do they have a proper name?)
We're moving house in 4 weeks and we still have nowhere to move into. Slightly worrying as the estate agents are being completely useless I may end up living at my parents whilst DP goes up there to work and search for a house, I'd rather not though!
DD2 has found her hands and is becoming more independent. She used to be in the sling nearly all the time but now she'll sit in her chair playing or just watching DD1 which is very cute.
Has anyone else been on Wii fit yet? I'm actually having fun trying to lose weight

tyaca · 13/05/2008 13:02

pl - v glad to see your second post, tho' still fuming on your behalf re the feed happening at 1am not 10pm . fo and dont sweat the door-whacking, surely that's a rite of parenting passage?

bean - sry your lo had a bad night, so did esther. maybe something in the air? shall we organise a regents park meet? i am still slightly smarting that you came to the one meet up that i didnt go to

ok - starting thread.... here

lucy and 2 - come buy our flat! its lovely, if slightly small. good luck with the househunting.

cant remember who went to buggyfit last week? v keen to know what they thought??

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 13/05/2008 14:01

Hi one and all-

Hope everyone is ok- We have had 2nd lot of injections today- dd had a slight squeak/moan but other than that went well for her- DS on the other hand told nurse off for hurting Rosies leg=- and could not understand why i told him it was ok as its medicine so she does not get poorly!!! he was so confused!!! Pre school booster could be interesting!!!!!lol

Lucy i think they are called romper suits, (thats what i call them anyway) DD is in the most days and some nights if its too warm, she goes top sleep fuly swaddled so its fine!
Sorry to hear your having trouble finding a new home hope somthings comes up for you really soon.

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 13/05/2008 14:02

sorry so may typos in there- was not concentrating very well!!!

Looks like we will be needing a new thread soon too- Ladies what are we going to have this time?????

rozzyraspberry · 13/05/2008 14:55

Househunting lucy - that's really exciting!! Hope you find something fab soon!

Beany - I know exactly what you mean - ds3 has never been a huge sleeper during the day but we had a few days last week when he only slept for around 1.5 hours the whole day. Would be fine if I could just put him in his chair/gym but he was pretty grumpy (probably because tired and fighting sleep!). He is a lot better this week though (is actually napping in his cot) so I hope it's just a phase for your ds2 too. I'm lucky at the mo as lo is only 3 months so still doing ok at night but I'm sure as he gets bigger he'll become more of a milk monster and need fed more often. I know what you mean re the feeling of isolation - I said to dh last week that I was feeling claustrophic - I don't feel like I ever do anything just for me at the moment and can't even really go anywhere on my own cause ds might need fed and I'm not sure he could really cope with all 3 just yet tbh.

Anyway off to try and get stuff done whilst ds3 is sleeping and ds1 and ds2 are out in the garden with dh.

omy · 13/05/2008 17:51

Rozzy - just shows haw amazing you are coping with 3 ALL the time when you don't think DH could cope for a couple of hours!

Princess - how stressful - Poor you! Good to have a rant here tho and get it off your chest!

Beany - a non sleeping baby - very stressful. Do you leave him to cry himself to sleep at all? I do sometimes when I know she is tired and the cry is not too distressed! Does he not even sleep in the pushchair or car?

They are getting heavy to carry round all the time aren't they? I have abandoned the sling in favour of pushchair as my back was suffering. I must build up some tummy muscles!

Puking seems to be over in this house for the time being - cross fingers!!!

OP posts:
omy · 13/05/2008 17:53

Lucy - what is Wii fit?? sorry to be so dim! I hope you find a lovely placed to live soon!!

OP posts:
mitfordsisters · 13/05/2008 18:01

princess llama - rant away - circumstances allow it!

alkar - wipes recipes here

went swimming the other day and was amazed that i remembered how - lovely, allowing for a little bit of lane rage. last thing dh said to me as i left the house was 'stay calm'. wish i could but traffic, fast swimmers in medium lane etc make me

ds is bashing his nappy with one hand and shoving the other down my top - think it's feeding time.

alkar · 13/05/2008 19:56

Hope you have had a better day today princess.

Tyaca, I went to buggyfit yesterday. It was my first time and I was shocked at how tiring it is. Very fast walking with your LO in their buggy up and down lots of hills. We stopped and did some arm work with some stretchy bands (very hard) then more fast walking. I am defo going again, hope that helps.

Sarah, so cute harry telling the nurse off for hurting his little sister

Thanks for the wipes recipe mitford. I've ordered loads of nappys and wraps from the nappy lady but didn't think to look at wipe stuff!

Builders have knocked through to the new extension today, loads of mess and I think the carpet is ruined but thats not unexpected. They're knocking through another door tomorrow and then a whole wall into the kitchen on Monday. Should all be done in 3 weeks though, fingers crossed

Lucyand2 · 14/05/2008 09:34

Anyone elses LO suddenly decided that waking 4-5 times a night is fun?
I thought it was just a phase but it seems to be going on and on

Lucyand2 · 14/05/2008 09:48

omy - Wii fit is a game thing for the nintendo wii. You stand on a board and do all kinds of games, you can also do yoga and weight training. You do a body test everyday that weighs you and tells you your BMI. You can set a target for your weight loss so that you can monitor your progress. I'm really enjoying the jogging at the moment!

cosima · 14/05/2008 11:05

hi everybody,
beannie and princess llama, my lo is copying yours, had growth spurt with non stop feeding now forgotten what sleep is all about then three days of upset tummy and diarrhoea all with the bloody in laws here throwing spanners in the work and being generally out of touch, irritating, dithering and SOOO boring! , but baby now sleeping,

wondering whether he will get back into a routine before the next bloody growth spurt.

Tyaca - shame you never made it to the crown and greyhound, but I feel like the winner cos you chose mine
