Tyaca - you ran 4 ks!!! Am so impressed. I still waddle but am building up to fast walking on the treadmill!
DH would be fine if I said I HAVE to wait till Jan - but it is just so hard for me to know how I will feel in 2/3 months. If I had to start work NOW I would be a wreck - mainly because my brain doesn't want to be challenged at all - I even find my 11 year old's homework stressful at the mo - and I haven't been helping my GCSE daughter revise hardly at all! All I seem to be able to to do is smile and coo at my little babe!!

Egg - how nice of that woman in the street! she is so right - if I had 3 little ones I don't think I would ever go out!!

Gill - Horrid day!!! Have you been to the doc about the BCG pus?
Every time I struggle to the shops to buy something specific for LO they don't have it in stock - so I have resorted to internet shopping - MUCH more satisfying!! I even tried my first ever grocery shop online - inspired by all of you! - ASDA are delivering today!!

Morningglory - what a stressful time you had at the pool - I have taken LO to the creche at my gym twice now but I feel very sad leaving her there - the staff are fine but they don't LOVE her!! and there is no natural light which is very sad when the weather is like this!!

rozzyraspberry · 07/05/2008 11:04

Omy - I'm having my first asda online shop delivered today too (usually use tesco). We can be sad and compare whether we were impressed or not.

Gill - hope you have a better day today. And I too will never wear a 2 piece swimsuit ever again!! Stretchmarks are not a good look!

Morningglory - I'm not nearly confident enough to try swimming with more than one child on my own with a baby. In fact I'm nervous about how we'll manage when dh and I have to take all 3 together. I don't think there was any need for that other mum to make the comment about her taking 3 - it's easy to look back with rose coloured glasses and forget how hard things were when you have a baby.

Anyway I'd better go - ds3 has his second set of immunisations in 30 mins

omy · 07/05/2008 12:00

Good luck with the jabs!!!

Am not very impressed with the asda delivery - the man was very nice but the strawberries are rubbish! and SOOO many plastic bags - ugh.

Morning all,

How was everyones Bank Holiday? Ours was fab! Went don to Devon for the weekend, i loved it. I really needed a break away. We took Henley to see the Penguins, Ducks and Sea Lions in Torquay. He was mezmarised (sp?)by all the noises and splashes they were making. It was so cute. Were going back again at the end of the month but staying at a Haven site this time (Sandy Bay), as the entertainment this time was kack.

Henley was sleeping from 11pm-6am whilst on hoilday, but that was probably down to the fact that he was in bed with DP and me as he's waking about 3am again now were home and hes back in his crib.

Weve also changed his milk due to his green poos and slight constipation. He's now on the Cow and Gate comfort. He's so much happier on that and his poos are back to newborn yellow .

I think he's got a touch of hayfever too as hes done nothing but sneeze for the past couple of days.

Just received his appt for his 2nd lot of Imms. Next Tuesday. Not looking forward to it after the way he reacted last time.

What does everyone think about whats in the news about baby bottles and boiling water? I dont know what to think. My mum poured boiling water into them and i was told by the MW on the Mat ward to do that but now this american research is saying not too. Where can i find out which bottles are afected? Henleys has the Tommee Tippee ones (suposably the teat is shaped loke a nipple .

He's 12 week now and so big. Still in his 0-3 clothes but give it a couple of more weeks and he'll be in the 3-6.

I have a question. In the hot weather does he still need to wear a vest underneath his shorts and t-shirt? Yesterday i didnt take him out of the house as it was way too hot but if i do, how do i dress him?

Anyway got to dash and get back to my HUGE pile of washing xxx

tyaca · 07/05/2008 14:18

morning glory - only just read your swimming story. what a silly cow who made that comment - how the f* can she not show a teensiest bit of compassion. for what its worth, i'm in awe that you did half an hours swimming with both of them - but then i'm a woos who's nervous about a trip to london bridge tomo

glad everyone had nice bank holiday weekends. i could really do with getting away for a while.

miss natalie - tbh, i dont put a vest on dd a lot of the time anyway. she's always in a sling with a hooded top on top and i worry about her getting too hot. my HV and the CMW know i dont and have never said its a problem.

on the subject of supermarket deliveries - i got a suprise when tescos turned up today and told the man i'd ordered the shop for wedsnesday, not today.

baby bjorn bought off ebay came today. havent had a chance to use it in sunshine as have spent day trying to hide all our crap cause we have our first flat viewing today. at 2pm. the bugger hasnt turned up yet and i'm most annoyed.

Egg · 07/05/2008 14:31

tyaca it is weds today ...

Morningglory am in awe that you even tried to go swimming with both DCs. I used to find it a bit of a struggle with just DS1!

Egg · 07/05/2008 14:32

I am not putting vests on DTs at mo, unless that is all they are wearing. Today they went out in vests and trousers each but nothing else. At night they sleep in l/s vests only inside grobags.

gingermumi · 07/05/2008 14:40

omy - have you tried tommy tippee bottles with boobie shaped teats? Re ex, it was over 10 years ago, best thing i ever did!

Missnat- i have abandoned vest for toby today, it's too hot for that and a tee shirt methinks. Dont forget hat and suncream when going out!

have lo on my knee so typing not easy, just going tp update weight loss, have lost 3lb from starting weight so am a bit chuffed! have walked lots this week and will go to gym with dd2 again at wk end.

hope everybody else is well and enjoying the sun for mum and the shade for babe

gingermumi · 07/05/2008 14:43

have to go and hoover it's dd2's bday (17!!!) and family are decending on us at 6, mind you perhaps i'll shove them all in the garden and abandon that idea! enjoy rest of wednesday everyone

Egg · 07/05/2008 15:03

Am posting randomly... adding little bits here and there!

Gill, how is DS now? Have no experience of BCG on babies as they don't do them as standard where we live, but do remember my own when I was 13 or so at school and I am sure it oozed. I vaguely remember being fascinated by it and poking at it . However, definitely need to check it is normal, esp for a little baby.

Had a crappy day yesterday but better today. Walked to local swings and DS1 walked there and back so no DD in sling so not as sweaty and horrid as yesterday. Have bought a second hand buggypod from ebay to try. He will no doubt refuse to get in mind you.

DD having real feeding issues. She is taking less and less milk. Am going to swap her to Comfort One so good to read that it has helped your DD missnat. Also lovely to read your post as you sound so much happier now .

Happy bday to ginger's DD2 . Perfect day for getting everyone in the garden. Bugger the hoovering (my house not hoovered since LAST MONDAY ).

DS2 crying, he has just had a 210ml feed so prob got more burps.

Back later.

Egg · 07/05/2008 15:08

Missnat. I was not even aware of the bottles thing (not seen news for days!) but have now read the thread about it and am kind of concerned, and kind of not...

I use Avent standard type bottles and did with DS1 from 3 months onwards (and earlier for EBM too). I always leave the water to cool a bit before I pour it in, although very occasionally have done it only 5 mins after boiling when I am desperate (and then spend ages running under cold water).

Often it is almost stone cold (goes against formula making guidelines but hey...). I don't ever heat the milk up for DTs they have it at whatever temp it comes at (although obv not too hot), but it is usually room temp as I try to let it cool as much as poss. I don't intend to change all my bottles, I have ten of these ones, they cost a fortune, and although obv the babies' health is more important than paying for some new bottles it doesn't seem like there are many guarantees any are safer than these ones.

I hate these health scares .

tyaca · 07/05/2008 15:08

cosima i am so glad you are nervous too.

it'll be my biggest trip alone with her. most i've ever done before is twenty min on a bus to brixton to register her birth - short enough trip to not have to think too many logistical things ... and that went badly with esther screaming the registry office down ... the link is here.

egg - lol i now know the day of the week, but not before making a bit of a dick of myself

Egg · 07/05/2008 15:10

Tyaca don't worry, I accused a tesco man of exactly the same thing a couple of months back, telling him he was a day early. I then checked online and it was me who was wrong.

Are you lot meeting up tomorrow . If I still lived at our old house I could have come .

tyaca · 07/05/2008 15:17

if we're talking about bottles and feeding, can i ask a REALLY dumb ass question?? i will need to take feed out with me tomo. how best to do it? nhs guidelines says always to make it fresh (which i do) and when out to use a carton of you cant make it fresh. fine, can do that. my prob is the bottle - i use a steam sterilser which i always keep airtight once sterilised and take out bottles when needed. will it be ok to just take a sterilised bottle in my bag to decant carton into? my SIL did that the other day i notice. she kept empty bottle in in a sealed polythene bag til she needed it.

Second dumb ass question. god, you guys are going to think i am a rubbish mum (pls remember that my dd is only 8wks old so i'm one of the most junior here ) ... where do you put a used nappy when you're out and about? i notice a lot of changing bags have sections for them, but i think that's really gross. but is that what you do rather than chuck in a bin if there arent proper facilities

tia guys. am off to bury head in shame. ach, no, that was an exaggertaion, am prob just going to make a cup of coffee and sit on balcony

Egg · 07/05/2008 15:23

Tyaca I had no clue last time either. Yes it's fine to take pre-sterilised bottle out with you, just make sure lid is on etc (I never bothered to put inside a bag) and take a carton or two (always best to have extra carton incase, with shaking nervous hands, you spill the first one all over the floor ). Maybe take two bottles AND two cartons in case you get held up????

As for pooey nappy, I would bin it wherever I was and NOT carry it round at all (apart from to nearest bin). Would not care if not a nappy bin in a changing facility as they are not always available, just make sure it is in a nappy sack first if in a normal bin, just for niceness! I would only use those areas in the changing bag for dirty clothes (if poo leaks, baby pukes etc) and put them inside a nappy sack before putting into bag.

Keep forgetting that Esther is half the age of my monkeys! They are FOUR MONTHS OLD on Saturday. Bet Esther is bigger than my DD tho .

rozzyraspberry · 07/05/2008 19:37

I see what you mean about the plastic bags omy - we always ask tesco to deliver without bags (even then you get a few) but Asda used 25 bags for our delivery - hardly environmentally friendly. On the plus side we now have factor 50 for lo's - this hot weather caught us on the hop!

On the bottle scare when I gave ds1 and ds2 bottles I always used to use boiling water to make them up - also used to make up a whole days worth of bottles in advance (either the advice has changed or I just wasn't aware of it!). DS3 only has a couple of bottles of EBM a week but we do heat up the bottles in boiling water which they're also saying is a no no. I'm sure if there was a high health risk all the affected bottles would be taken off the market so try not to worry too much.

Omy - I agree with ginger on the tommee tippee closer to nature bottles - that's what we've been using and he takes it no problem.

Happy birthday to dd2 ginger - I suppose driving lessons will be next for her?

Enjoy your meet-up tomorrow ladies!

cosima · 07/05/2008 20:35

I think i put a photo on my profile. Did I?

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 07/05/2008 20:52

you did and its gorge!!!!!

cosima · 07/05/2008 21:01

oh thankyou. I love him! [too soppy face]

princessllama · 07/05/2008 21:32

very sweet cosima. huge lovely eyes.
i'm really looking forward to meet up tomorrow-have secured childcare for lo, just hope ferdie is having a good day.
tyaca-i'm the crap mummy! i'm very relaxed about all the sterilising, read your post and thought hmm, am a bit too relaxed. i do have at least 15 cartons of aptamil if anyone wants them-very heavy though so would have to collect.
can't remember who asked but special milk means neocate formula, which costs 27 quid for small tin and is milk that has already been broken down to constituent amino acids. smells foul and makes their poo gross. lucky it's free on nhs or i'd be bankrupt.
bean i'm crossing my fingers for you that your dh doesn't have glandula fever.
egg you are supermum i agree.
morningglory that lady sounds like a cow. felt stressed just imagining your situation at the pool-nightmare-at least your towel didn't fall off.

Egg · 08/05/2008 09:27

Have fun on your meet up today girls .

Cosima that pic is sooooooooooooooooooooo cute.

CountTo10 · 08/05/2008 09:47

morning - can't believe that woman - silly cow!! my hats off to you for doing it cause I'm waiting so dp can come too!!

Out again today to make the most of this sunshine!! I just love it. I have been using sleeveless vests and the shorrtsleeved no feet babygro type things. ds2 hates the cold we've discovered and prefers being cosy warm than chilled!! We just keep an eye and then if he's too warm we can just whip the gro off. If we do shorts and tee it'll be without a vest. It's trying to get the sun parasol to actually keep the sun out!!!

This bottle scare is slightly worrying but I bottle fed ds1 and he's not shown any ill effect. I get fed up with things being ok and then not and then they are and oh we're not sure again.

Hope everone is ok and enjoy the meet up!

retrodolly · 08/05/2008 10:16

Finally! Found the Feb 08 postnatal thread!

He-e-ll-o-oo everyone. Coming late to the party is one first-time mum and DD 3 months old today.

Really need the company y'all, been BF DD exclusively and feel as if the life has been sucked out of me. Tired and brain-dead half the time. Lost even pre-pregnancy weight by BF except for the loose belly folds so can't wear jeans yet... and stitches (2nd degree tear) still hurt. When do things start to get better?

LO doing better than me, giggling "talking" and gaining weight, but hates tummy time so much I don't dare try (see: other thread). She'd easily sleep through 10pm to 6am, but I'm nervous about leaving her more than 5 hrs w/o a feed, so am still sleep-deprived... and counting nappies...

sallyforth · 08/05/2008 10:21

Hello!
another gorgeous day eh! hope you are all out enjoying it. I am getting a tan for the first time in a year - for some reason took seriously the advice to stay out of sun while pg.
am getting out and about and walkimg loads, but still not losing any weight. have just discovered that weight gain is a side effect of the prescription drug I am on - aha! now I can blame that!
anyway have just remembered that I bought loads of clothes 1-2 sizes bigger back when I was still in denial about being pg... am now glad I did!!!

beany - hope your dh is starting to feel better. I have decided DHs are NOT ALLOWED to be ill. Mine had some strange stomach bug and funnily enough I was not available to give him 24/7 nursing care!

tyaca - good luck with the flat sale.

egg - agree you are defo supermum!!!! hope DD gets on well on her new milk.

rozzy - oh Oasis!! I remember that from when i lived in carlisle. that brings back some memories!!

morning - can't believe how rude that woman was at the swimming pool. some people always have to go one better don't they?

cosima - your lo is SO cute!!!!

count - what sun parasol do you have? I havent got one so have been using my umbrella

v jealous of all you who are going on hols soon. I am not going on holiday till AUGUST which seems like years from now. ds will be 6mo then!!!

oh yeah I reckon this bottle scare is a load of bollocks, as someone said if it was serious they would recall the product to avoid legal liability/damage to their reputation.
