Lovely video Gill - Malcolm is very cute! (youtubeing is my next challenge!) and lovely pics of your 3 boys rozzy. I am truly truly in awe of you and Jay and amy others (egg!) who have so many little ones!

6 weeks tomorrow and it is a great milestone. Feeling so much better physically, though back is sore due to no yoga for so long! Will definitely go this week. Am going to show off LO at work too this week - her spots are much better - though she has very dry skin on her face - I have been putting olive oil on it which does help - though she smells like a salad!

I was really looking forward to trying out some baby massage on her, but every time I try she squeals and complains so I give up!

By the way Jay - What IS Night Garden time?

Morning Omy (and everyone else). Just popping on to say hello to get this into my threads. Night Garden is at 6:20pm on CBeebies every night. A great programme . DS1 loves it too. They all go to bed at the end which kind of encourages the little ones to do the same.

OK night here, fed babies at 3/3:30 and then managed to sleep til 7am, which is LATE for me, although lay awake for ages after feeding them for some reason. DS1 was only up at 8am, the latest he has slept in months . So nice to get babies fed and settled before he is up.

Have been looking at people's new profile pics and Gill's vid. The babies are all so adorable. Gill I am sure Malcolm is way more advanced than my two (sorry I know I shouldn't compare). I had a look at your other vids of him too. He is adorable .

Right as DS1 is only just up I ought to pay him some attention. Will try to get back on later.

Princess - how does one eat all that food while trying to sleep inbetween feeds? . Until i started giving Katie 2 bottles a day, i had to make a choice between trying to sleep, eating or drinking. No wonder i felt so awful!

Katie sleeping, so getting as much done as poss before she wakes up. Will give her a bottle and hopefully she will be calm enought to go back to sleep again so i can sleep (been awake since 4.30 am - feed and then my breakfast, Tesco and John Lewis internet order, load washing machine and have shower, do some washing up and now want to sleep again.)

Anyone heard from Bessie at all?

I can't watch The Night Garden, the titles and music make me cry. I think of the little characters who are like babies who have no mummy to look after them. That's it, i'm off again. Hormones do funny things to ladies!

Hi all. Egg - Don't compare. Most of the time he does just stare into space and he is VERY different baby when it's just with me and DP (we're a bit rubbish really compared to the doting GPs)

Had a terrible night with him- (LO that is) he hasn't done a poo for about 36 hours and ALL night was lying in his cot making his "I am uncomfortable" noise into his dummy. At 4am I just snapped, realised I would have to get up and sit with him in another room as DP couldn't have been getting any sleep and jumped out of bed shouting FK THIS FOR FKS SAKE and stormed out of the room. Sadly DP had actually been fast asleep Oops.

Anyway now it's daytime he is of course sleeping silently well at least I've been able to have breakfast and come on here to moan! Next task is to epliate legs for first time in many months. Ouch. Has anone else had strange hair growth? When I was pregnant the hair on my legs barely grew at all but since then has come back with a vengeance. Meanwhile I shaved under my arms six weeks ago and is still completely smooth- it's really really very strange, just have no underarm hair whatsoever any more. Sorry not nice to talk about one's pits really but interested to know if anyone else experiencing this!

Omy is there a post natal yoga near you? As there's a couple near me in Stoke Newington that you can take babies to, probably not as challenging in terms of yoga as you're used to but better than nothing if you're struggling to get to it. Let me know if you want details!

ok night here too, Rosie still sleeping most nights from 10 til between 5 and 6 so we are doing somthing right!!!!

Have decided we need to get her bedtime routine establesished now though- with DS we left it till bout 4 months so was a little more trying!!!!
(i like the baby whisperers' way of doing things, it worked very well for DS so we will follow it again this time- only prob i can never get the dream feed right!!! DD never wants to take it even if i manage to get bottle in her mouth she just refuses to suck!!!lol

Anyway have a great day- DH still off as he worked friday so ui have him doing lots of jobs heehee

Hi everyone! Well done for getting the post natal thread started omy! Feels strange coming in the post natal section - like we're all the new girls at school!

DS3 was weighed this morning and has put on 2lbs since he was born which I'm quite pleased about.

I'm very envious of those of you getting more sleep. Lo is still feeding twice a night. I shouldn't complain as he just gets up feeds and then goes back down again. However, he's been like this since around 1 week old so I kind of hoped he would at least be spacing his feeds out a little by now. Fed him lying down in bed at 5am this morning and was pleased with how that went - but he then projectile vomitted over me around 1/2 hour later so think I'll have to stick with sitting up and burping him afterwards - ho hum.

I've ordered a folding treadmill for our bedroom. Not ready to give up the chocolate so exercise it is! The cross trainer we had was a bit bulky and the room it was in is now the nursery. I'm really excited because I've wanted one for ages - really since I had the kids and found it difficult to get to the gym. It used to be really expensive to get a good one but they seem to be much cheaper now and I managed to get an old model with lots of money off. Ordered a super duper huge sports bra to try and contain my 3 cup sizes bigger than normal mammaries whilst I exercise. I've got my 6 week check tomorrow then I'm all set! Just got to try and find the time to do it now

Gingermumi 10-7 thats brilliant, what are you giving him Baileys?? We are also putting James in his cot for the first time tonight because he sleeps with his arms stretched out and gets annoyed when he hits the side of the moses basket!

Gill Malcolm is yummy and i loved all your videos and my lo often goes for days without having a poo,apparently this is normal for bf babies because there isn't as much waste and i know one friend who's daughter went 10 days without one it worried me too until i started asking friends about it xxx

Rozzy lucky you having 3 beautiful boys, aren't they all like? my 2 are similar but james is changing every week.

Jay i love your childrens names, they all look very happy together on the last picture, you deserve a medal for coping so well with your lo's i dont know how you lot with more than 2 are coping

Lovemymum its very easy to eat crap all day, believe me i've done it, so now in the morning after i've had my bran flakes i leave out an apple,banana, grapes and a big bottle of water on the side in the kitchen so that not only do i remember to eat but i pick these up first instead of going to the cupboard with biccies, crisp and at the moment loads of easter eggs!!

BTW james is just over 9 weeks old and for the last week has been furiously chomping away on his fists, so much so that he's made them sore, i thought he was hungry at first so i offered the boob but it wasn't that, he does have a dummy but can take it or leave it, anyone else having this??

Gill DS1 and DS2 both reached 72 hours with no poo today. After some probing for DS2 (ie prodding in bottom with wipe as recommended by HV) DS2 managed to poo, although still not sure he got it all out. DS1 is holding his in. It is breaking my heart. You see him getting a poo contraction and then he clenches his buttocks and sobs a bit and then it passes. He wont push it out even though whenever he does he feels so happy. Not sure what to do. Have already used bottle of lactulose with no improvement. He was getting better but after weekend at paternal grandparents with too much crap food and very little "proper" food he is really struggling.

Having a crappy day after a good start. Feeling a bit teary and everything is driving me mad. DS1 is throwing everything on the floor, whatever we get out to do (crayons, pens, playdoh, plastic play food etc) has been hurled. He has hardly eaten, although prob because he needs a poo, but he still keeps asking for chocolate or biscuits (I have not given in). Said he wanted a crumpet, then refused it because he didn't want butter on it, gave him plain crumpet, he refused again, so I threw it in the bin and he had a tantrum.

Babies are all in all being quite good, except DD keeps crying during her nap. Have tried for more burps, have checked she hasn't pooed so have left her and she has gone back to sleep for now.

DS1 is desperate to go to Early Learning Centre but have not found a gap in the day yet between babies feeding, babies napping and DS1 feeding or napping. Hoping to get out about 3:30/4pm later.

Sorry. Have not got that out of my system, feeling a bit better .

We have a Life Cycle exercise bike in the bedroom (one of those big ones they have in the gym) which is great. Hoping to get on it when DS1 goes to bed (once Postman Pat has finished) but DD is crying again so not sure if it will happen................

On the poohing - ds2 only filled his nappy once every 4 days when he was bf. We used to count down the days to 'poo' day.

Hope you manage to get out later egg. Have you seen anyone about ds1 not going to the loo? Sorry you're having a down day - I too find that everything seems less manageable when the older children are being 'trying'. big hugs to youxx

DD is same as yr DS - ie throwing hissy fits about everything and anything... i just ignore her, which breaks my heart because shes so good normally, but i know its just a phase so not too worried!

MW this morning, DS2 has now regained his weight that he lost in the first five days, so thats good. i am still suffering with sciatic pain and SPD.. have got physios number...just need the time to go! Also hv a lactation consultant coming round this arvo... hopefully give me help and advice on his tongue tie and his feeding issues. i do have an appointment for consultant at the hospital but lord knows when that will come through!

Egg - don't feel bad about moanng - I'm just amazed how little moaning you do! I hope you manage to get out later.

leesmum - DD does the fist-munching thing too. She is going to be a thumb sucker like her brother, I guess, and often finds and keeps her thumb during a munching session. She does it when she's hungry, but also at other times (refuses boob), especially when she's having trouble with wind. It's a real pain when I'm trying to latch her on, cos she's so determined to have her hands in her mouth! She has never made her hands sore though. I hope someone can suggest something. Maybe scratch mitts would stop the soreness, although I guess James might be a bit too big for them by now?

Sarah - how does Baby Whisperer bedtime routine work?

We're going with the flow bedtime-wise, because DD is only 4 weeks, and is tending to sleep well at night, and we don't want to rock the boat! She tends to feed hourly 5 till 7/8, then again at 10 or 11, 2,3 or 4 and 6 or 7, so only one real night feed. Last night, she was awake a bit later in the evening, so had her last feed around 8.30 (I went to bed at 10pm), then fed at 2.30, and again at 6.30. Hence not wanting to rock the boat! I feel so much better for getting some sleep. Sleep should be bottled and sold as a wonder-drug!

rozzy - I'm another one whose older child is being 'interesting' - testing every boundary, refusing to do things, touching everything he isn't allowed to touch, throwing/banging/'fixing' things etc etc. I too am working on the fact that he is usually wonderful, so this must be just a phase. Fingers crossed. In the meantime, thank goodness for nursery and CBeebies!

Oh yes. DS1 is "fixing" everything... He has to break things first though in order to fix them .

Feel better now. Been on bike and have had time to realise I am not actually having that bad a day it just felt like it. As pobletsmum said, if only they could sell sleep, we would pay BUCKETLOADS!

Jay sorry I called your DD a DS yesterday . Was thinking you had three boys... Hope you get the tongue tie sorted. For some reason did not realise SPD carried on after baby was born, thought it magically disappeared . Hope you feel better soon.

Will fairly easily be able to get about by 4pm later, just that I need to be back to cook DS1 his supper and he normally eats at 5pm. Can push it back to 5:30pm but not later. Not that he is eating today anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter. The trouble with him not eating rice or pasta means he eats mash with almost everything and so it takes half an hour to prepare any meal by the time you boil water and chop spuds and get them cooked and mashed (and mash in broccoli to get one and only veg portion in...)... [sigh]. Can't eat in town as will have babies with us.

Have missed nearly all of Neighbours now , must go before I miss Home and Away as well.

"Sore nips & no naps" is right. Can anyone tell me if this is normal? My nipples are so sensitive - going out in the cold makes them really painful, and coming out of a warm shower, I can't bear to put a towel on them or anything. Otherwise breastfeeding is now going OK (except I don't think I have much in me since I don't need breastpads, and haven't squirted anyone in the eye!). to whoever it was who had sex with her DH for his birthday. Mine won't be getting anywhere near me, not while these nips are still hurting.

Wotsits, I never leak or use breastpads either after the first couple of weeks, and have never squirted anyone, but I've definitely got enough milk. Didn't even dry up during pregnancy according to DD (who has weaned quite happily now, no jealousy issues with baby having 'her' milk)

egg - I'm glad your day isn't seeming so bad. I find that mash freezes well. I put portions of it in bags for DS then microwave reheat as necessary. Might be easier for you than cooking fresh every time?

Wotsits - yes, my nips are very sore too, but I think it's due to my ongoing probs with nipple thrush, and poor latching on one side. Do you think lo's position is OK, or could you be having pain from poor latching? I think a certain amount of soreness/sensitivity is quite normal at this stage. As for squirting milk - mine crosses the room at high speed - very embarassing!

Pobletsmum, I have indeed just pre-made my mash! Not enough for freezing but enough for me and DS1 for later that can be microwaved. Now only have to grill meatballs and that takes 15 or so mins.

Last time round when I was bf my nips were permanently on "full beam" and always v sensitive. Glad not to be having that this time.

DD is very cruel. Poor DS's, both needing poos, and she has had two today. DS2 is lying on the floor writhing a bit trying to get more out and she was lying down next to him, gave a slight fart and had another huge poo. Then she smiled smugly at him . Hers went up past her belly button.

Had to get up early as 6 week check was booked for 9am - Lo and I usually sleep till 9.30 while lovely DH gets DD2 off to school (his pay back for unbroken sleep).

Gill - havent found any post natal yoga in west london - I think stoke newington is too far for a regular class - I am determined to go to my normal class tonight - and tell the teacher to be kind to me!

Achieved a lot today - LO and I took the tube to victoria to get her a passport. It takes a minimum of 1 week - in case anyone is thinking of booking a holiday! If her passport arrives in time we are going to spain to stay with friends! can't wait!

Thanks, Slacker - I knew I was being irrational, but needed some reassurance. I did have blocked ducts and am careful to check that DS is latched on right, so I guess the soreness is just one of those things, especially if the nips are on full beam all the time, as Egg says.

egg - don't let your DSs hear this, but DD has several dirty nappies a day. Unfortunately they STINK and are a real rainbow of colours & all sorts of textures, usually like water . She hasn't had a normal poo since week 1 . I'm hoping it's just due to all the nasty medications we've been taking and that once they've finished, we'll be back to 'chicken korma with bits' or whatever it should be at this stage for BF babies. Could be sometime though, as this morning I saw GP to collect more gel for DD's mouth, more tablets for my boobs (3 more weeks' worth from now) plus we've added eye drops for DD. My pharmacy medicine cabinet is overflowing! On the plus side I've stopped taking some of the painkillers - yay! Now I just have to track down a local breastfeeding counsellor to help me get DD's latch right...

Hi everyone!!

Ds2 had his check up today and is now 12.2lbs so fine there. Also had his first lot of jabs. There really is something uniquely shite about holding your child while someone hurts them. The worst one was the first, as he was smiling away and I knew what was coming. [guilty mummy emoticon]

Am just trying to catch up, so will post more later.
