Does today get any weirder than this?

On train to London, friend phones, tells us me we are in the Mirror TODAY!!! hilarious. Totally shocking picture of me, I look like I am about to kill someone, and have a nice double chin, my friends all look ravishing!!

Get to hotel where course is, step into the lobby, fire alarm goes off, all troop out again, fire engines, fire men, the lot!!!

Sit down in meeting room eventually, turn to my left, and who should introduce himself but Matthew Tickle, brother of Jon Tickle who was in Big Brother! Too weird.

Get call from DH after Toby's appt - turns out he is exceptionally long sighted, has never really seen properly out of his left eye, and needs specs as well as a patch, possibly till the age of 12. If this is all I have to contend with health wise with my boys then I am grateful, but am still sad about it all, and wondering how we are going to get through the next weeks of getting him to wear patches AND glasses. Poor little mite. It's all my family's fault, my sister had exactly the same thing. And he'll never be an airline pilot apparently - no skin off my nose but my dad was one and I bet he wished one of his grandsons might be also..anyhoo. If I could give him my eyes I would - you know?

Here endeth my day. DH has just cut out the Mirror feature to "put in the loo" - and not down it unfortunately.

Hope you are all lovely and jubbly,

Bloss

PS - FLick, wonderful Sam is home

xx

ceebee74 · 01/04/2008 20:38

Flick ? woohoo!! So glad Sam is home and settled with his family (ignore MIL, you are allowed to do and say what you want during this time ).

Bloss ? just been on the Mirror website and there is no photo of you on there ? just the article!! I really wanted to see it. Very weird day ? does Matthew Tickle look like his brother?? And is he a bit more interesting???? Poor Toby

Spin ? still got my fingers crossed for you and R ? once you get the test over with, you can move forward then. How were the cakes??

Hi to everyone else ? this was just a quickie as am absolutely shattered and need to be in my bed (but the good news is that the morning sickness seems manageable at the moment ? long may that continue!)

TheGoddessBlossom · 01/04/2008 21:30

CB - just checked the website myself - I am the first respondent by the way. Check out the shoes I had to wear! Quite relieved the photo of me in them isn't on there to be honest!

TheGoddessBlossom · 01/04/2008 21:33

and by the way Matthew Tickle is quite clearly a brain but very very charming I thought he was lovely.

thefortbuilder · 02/04/2008 14:51

bloss tobster has exactly what jacob has! they are twinnies! is it def he has to wear a patch as our opthamologist has said should be ok with glasses and not patching certainly to start off with. and we were told 12 as a cut off but it does get better with age so it may be sooner than 12, and also as someone else on here (sorry have forgotten who) told me they can have contacts from a much younger age than you used to be able to have. so it's not too bad!

also check out the lindberg and nike flexon frames - there are some really nice ones out there (jacob is having nike flexon ones in a dark brown colour kind of oblong shaped so not at all owl or "kid with glasses" like), and they can grind the lenses really realy thin - we are going for a french company that are the equivalent to carl zeiss ones but in plastic and have got them 3mm thick in the middle and 2.5 thick on the outside. bloody expensive though - lenses are £245 and frames are £150 but we may be able to get a £60 nhs voucher even though the prescription is a private one. make sure your optician looks into this too.

sorry if i'm teaching you to suck eggs but it is so similar to what we have had to do that i thought i might be able to impart some knowledge!!!

samuel had another marathon feed at 2am - 1hr15 mins.... but then slept till 730!he's lmost at 4 hourlies now, but with the off slip up!

maewest we too are part time co sleepers if jacob wakes at 3am - milk and then in with us and he's back to sleep in no time generally!

anyway, as i'm sure i'll be saying a lot in the next few months - must go sam is due a feed! cee bee get preparing yourself!

TheGoddessBlossom · 02/04/2008 20:13

that is so useful Flick thankyou. We also have a private prescription so will check out the frames you mentioned and also the NHS voucher. Toby deffo needs patches as well, to correct his lazy eye....

HumphreysCorner · 02/04/2008 23:04

Have had terrible laptop virus problems so now I'm back but need to catch up first. Hope all OK.

thefortbuilder · 03/04/2008 13:36

yeah bloss the frames are very flexible and the flexon ones stood up to jacob basically trying to wrench them apart in the opticians.....and a 3 year guarantee is a great thing!

anyway, not much else to report - jacob has a nice cough and snotty nose and bumpy gums and not wanting to chew so hopefully more teeth coming through.

dh went to a dinner for marcus trescothic last night (his firm sponsors him) - after saying yes yes yes i'll be coming home in a cab at 1015 and saying to me earlier on in the day that we need to think aobut our spending, he got home blind drunk, in an abusive mood (told me our relationship was terrible and to f off at one point) having successfully bid £500 for a signed shirt of ricky pontings WTF????? so anyone want a signed ricky ponting shirt??? we have one spare. oooh spin do you know anyone who wants it he also managed to walk off with a signed cricket bat by the whole england team, so that's something at least.

anyway, i'm quite tired so i can't even be bothered to winge about it, i just told him that next time he comes home like that i'm calling a cab and taking the boys to the savoy or the ritz. have also suggested that when he goes out for the wetting of samuel's head he stays at a mates house overnight.

mil on the other hand is being an angel!

TheGoddessBlossom · 03/04/2008 19:35

Hi Flick,

Sorry to hear DH is being an arse. Just what you need. We ended up with some Adidas frames fro £60, they look very cute on him, light grey kind of oblong, and free lenses. I suspect his prescription is going to change every month or so.

Tried him with a patch for the first time, managed with supreme distraction effort to get him to wear it for 5 minutes. it's heartbreaking though, he cannot see a bloody thing with it on, goes to pick up his football and is a yard away from it, goes to kick it and kicks in the air a foot to the left. Going to be some bumps and bruises coming up as he cannons off door frames etc. [heartbreak emoticon] He was such a lamb i n the opticians. I wore my specs for solidarity I think it helped - looks like I'll be in mine alot more now....

Finally back on planet laptop after clicking on a link on Facebook which opened up a can of virus worms. Will I never learn?

Anyway, a quick post to say:

spin-chin up my lovely and do not let DH cut off your net access.

flick-what on earth was your DH thinking of? So, much money and he has been far too nasty to you. Am thrilled that Sam is home-any chance of a pic yet?

Bloss-what a week you have had. Don't know what to say but am sending you virtual hugs and support. {{x}} Get you being in the Mirror! Have a super holiday.

Maewest-get thyself on the TTC thread pronto.

Hello Annie Took me a while to realise you were poking me when you had played your turn-doh!

Hi to everyone else

Hi Ladies.

What a lovely sunny day! Just been out to get my lunch and do some dinosaur shopping, and I'm roasted!
Have had a rougher than usual few nights, as both babies are a bit sniffley and not very well, so lots of (extra) waking. Still, could be worse...

For any of you sleb spotters: Just saw Prof Robert Winston downstairs, and on Wednesday evening on my way home I saw Iain Lee filming on Carnaby St. Not that exciting though. And I saw Crocodile Shoes bloke, Jimmy Nail at Sloane Street tube the other week. Woo bloody hoo.

HC, Hi! I thought that was what you were doing, so I was getting it all wrong to start with!! I think we understand each other now though, no?

Bloss, your job sounds so glamourous! I didn't see the Mirror, but when I clicked on the website the next day for a nose (in vain) I noticed our Taoiseach has resigned, so at least I found out about that!! Thanks!
How's the Tobster getting on with his glasses? It must be so tough, I wish I could wave my magic Harry Potter wand and make him better. You sound like you are coping really well anyway.

FLick {sad] about your DH but maybe he has got it out of his system for a while now. DH is also being a bit arsey sometimes, but I've learnt to ignore him now. Great to hear how well Sam is doing, you also sound like you are coping brillantly.

Has anyone been on the 'How long since you've had sex' thread?! I went on it for a nosey but I was too to post, although there is one on there who's not had it for longer than me!!

Hi Mae, your sleep routine sounds similar to ours, though with the boob part! They will sleep through soon won't they?? Please???

Spin, big hugs to you, missus, hope everything turns out rosy.

Well I better go, I think I have done all my work for today, so I could either sneak off, or just faff around and pretend to be busy...

Have a lovely weekend all!!

Beadmum · 04/04/2008 14:03

just a quick one

flick - so pleased sam is home, cant believe dh behaved like that too, totally out of order no matter how much alcohol he had consumed.

bloss - bless toby, im sure he'll be used to them in no time, heres hoping for you anyway (((hugs)))

hc - glad your laptop is up and running again, i dont understnad what people get out of setting up these viruses.

Charlotte is now repeating everything and words are becoming so much clearer, think its helping the tantrums a bit

Flat is now on the market and im so stressed, just want it to sell quickly as our entry date for our new house is 8 weeks away so solicitor says we best to have sold within 3 weeks to give time for everything to go through.

Lovely weather here again, have a lovely afternoon ladies xx

Beadmum · 04/04/2008 14:06

annie xpost - check you, celeb spotting everywhere hope sleeping settles again for you

PixelHerder · 04/04/2008 15:50

Hi Girls ? sorry long time no post, been trying to clear the house up ready for moving, I?ve even been very brave and gone into the loft, aaaargh? Weather here a bit gloomy, yesterday was gorgeous though.

Beadmum ? good luck with your sale, it is stressful isn?t it, all that tidying up and waiting around for phone calls etc, hope you get a good offer soon

Annie ? go on, go home especially if the weather?s nice! Hope the sleeping (and shagging) improves soon!! Lovely lovely pics of your two on Facebook, so sweet when you have pics of them doing somethign together, love the one of them in the bed.

Bloss ? aaaw hope Toby gets used to the patch and specs very soon, they are so adaptable when they are young, hopefully that will help. Good idea wearing yours too (((hugs))) Gutted that I missed your pic in the Mirror, I did have a look at the site though, those shoes look a bit hard core, did you get to keep them?

HC ? sympathies on laptop problems, it?s so annoying when they aren?t running smoothly ? glad you?re back in cyberland

Flick ? re DH troubles, but like Annie said hopefully that will get it out of his system, bet he had a monster hangover? Glad MIL is behaving at least, and FAB that Sam?s home.

Ceebee ? fingers crossed for you that the sickiness goes soon x

Spin ? hope things are okay with you and that they can sort out the test quickly. X

Twinkle ? fab that you?re in, congrats Hope Aidan?s tummy?s better now.

Kbaby ? hope James is getting better now, it?s so annoying when they won?t eat isn?t it

Catchingzeds ? that?s fantastic news, so pleased for you

Hi to Mae and Wallace and Impy (and anyone else I?ve forgotten)

Thanks for the nice comments about Emma?s pics (gosh that was a while ago now, so long since I?ve been on ? her fringe is now dangling in her eyes so time for another haircut soon, think this one might be a bit trickier than the back and sides Really does seem like her personality?s coming through now, she?s so aware of what?s going on (and so nosey). She talks a lot with us at home but goes quiet when she first sees other people, even if she knows them, and just gives them a hard stare. The house sale looks like it?s progressing (fingers crossed) so if all goes to plan we?ll be moving next month, yikes.

Well better get on, sorry for the monster post!! xxx

TheGoddessBlossom · 04/04/2008 19:44

Pixel I am glad you missed the pic it is a shocker.

Toby wore his patch for two hours today. It is heartbreaking to watch, as when he has it on he can hardly bloody see a thing, hopefully that will be improved when we get his glasses next week, but he bends down to pick up his ball and is reaching in the air two foot to it's left. His balance is shot to pieces and he cannons into everything. He is so trusting though, and lets me put it on him now. He is getting lots of treats for being such a good brave boy.

Anne you glory hunter!

Bloss

just a quickie- ds has chicken pox now, im hoping it may explain why he hasnt been eating. Today he ate a packet of hula hoops but that was it all day. The gp said I have to weigh him weekly and if he continues to lose weight then he will refere him to the hospital

Twinklemegan · 04/04/2008 22:39

Hello everyone. This really is just a quick one, and I'm afraid I'm after advice. Aidan's been an absolute shocker since we moved. He started throwing up again on Wednesday, and seems better again now, but the tantrums! My God, he's turning into a little monster. He will whine and whine repeatedly for something (usually his cup of water) - you give it to him, he chucks it on the floor. This continues until the whining becomes kicking and screaming which then lasts for upwards of half an hour. Please tell me I'm not the only one suffering this. I'm thinking he must be really unsettled by the move.

Twinklemegan · 04/04/2008 22:41

Sorry about your DS's chicken pox Kbaby. Hope he's better soon.

OP posts:
PixelHerder · 04/04/2008 22:54

How's he sleeping Twinkle? Emma's 'not happy whatever you do' tantrums happen when she's tired, especially when she's been at nursery - she's fine when she's actually out but as soon as she's back home it's like a spring uncoiling . Maybe it's a combination of Aidan being tired from being ill and being very stimulated by being in exciting new surroundings? Hope he's back to his old self once he's settled in

PixelHerder · 04/04/2008 22:57

Poor DS Kbaby, he's having a bit of a rough ride isn' he , hope he picks up soon x

Kbaby - sorry about DS and his pox but better to get them over and done with no? Also, Spin is right 24lb isn't that bad. Josh weighs about 25lb and is pretty average I think (looking at the dreaded red book ) I guess the issue is if he loses weight.

Twinkle - no advice re tantrums as although Josh has them, he usually calms down. Although he does have moments when nothing suits - again, like Pixel said, this is usually when he comes home from nursery and is probably tired.

Bloss - poor Tobes but I am sure once he gets used to it, he will adjust very quickly.

Flick - how's things with your DH? I am not trying to make excuses for his behaviour but maybe he was just letting off steam from realising the responsibility of having 2 children etc

Hi to everyone else - hope you are all having good weekends.

Not feeling THAT bad here - am nauseous most of the time (and this time round it is actually worse in the mornings ) but it gets better when I eat so am doing lots of that. Managed an aerobics class this morning and just had a lovely 2-hour nap whilst Josh is at MIL's with DH When I was this pg with Josh, I was completely wiped out and could barely get out of bed so I am grateful this is manageable (and touchwood, it stays like that).

HumphreysCorner · 05/04/2008 16:38

Hi all

Was supposed to be going to the Dancing on Ice show tonight but have a sickness bug so DH has gone with his mum and dad.
