Well, I ended up with about 3.5 hours of sleep total. Little chap was OUT COLD in the car and didn't wake up until he was naked on the ultrasound thing. I was SO JEALOUS. tried to get him to have a nap with me this afternoon but he had a sick, a play, a poop, and a chat instead.

loveandsmiles and frolic definitely the same phenomenon here, DS has spent all day sucking one boob dry for 40 minutes, napping for 10 minutes on the boob (everybody needs a bosom for a pillow Grin ) and then doing the same on the other side, pausing only to poop. He's 12 weeks on Monday, but was a week late, so I guess maybe it's a developmental thing!

Good news from his ultrasound, his hip is just fine, just a bit clicky. I'm really relieved. I love the NHS, and I really hate that sort of conflict, but if he'd had a problem and the delay had made it harder to treat I would have gone a bit lawsuity on them.

Clstow I'd always thought of my dad as quite liberal and hands on, but he saw DP take Fergus off for a nappy change and casually remarked that he was very impressed by how good DP was as my dad had never changed any of mine. I was a bit Hmm myself!

Bosom pillows: mine have shrunk. :( I think they are back to roughly pre pregnancy size. I realise everyone is probably going to be a bit Angry but I'm actually struggling to keep weight on while pregnant and breastfeeding. I now weigh less than I have in about 5 years. Confused

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 06/11/2015 21:37

Evening all,

I am on 'sitting in the dark' duty while DH has gone to Morrisons. Tbh I can live with that, I have chocolate and the internet. He has to do food shopping on a Friday night. I win! (Not that it is ever a competition of course Wink)

Had a lovely day today, took grumpy 2 to the zoo for the first time (we are members of our local zoo so it is a regular day out at chez Dwarf). The look on her iittle face at the smell of the giraffe house was priceless. I was slightly concerned that the male lion was eyeing her up for a snack though Shock.

kbro excellent, so it is just your DH and I that are the last two pre-washers left in the world. I suspected I was pretty much alone in this so good to hear I have company.

frolic and fatty it sounds like the shit has literally hit the fan at chez fattyfrolic this week. I really hope it clears up soon for both of you. frolic definitely abandon the cloth nappies at the moment, you don't want to scar yourself for life. DS will be in nappies until he is three or thereabouts, plenty of time to cloth bum him at a later date!

lily HAPPY BIRTHDAY! It was my DH who also had a bonfire night birthday. He got pyjamas from the girls, I think he was a bit gutted but he has been complaining about being cold during the night feeding / settling so hey ho! Why did your birthday start off badly?

siani 3.5 hours is not enough sleep. But very glad that the hip scan went well. Hope tonight is better for you both.

On the condom front we still have a box and a half from before we started ttc grumpy 2 three years ago. Do they go off I wonder??

giraffes I see your M&S food hall and I raise you a Waitrose shop. The poncy historic city I live in was exceptionally excited by the opening of our new Waitrose a year ago. It is the place to be seen on a Saturday morning with your free hot drink and copy of the magazine...

dozy glad to hear that you had a nice time at the fireworks. I have been debating whether or not to take grumpy 2 tomorrow (we have ear defenders but they would be massive on her tiny head) so good to know that Piper seemed fine with it all.

love ARGH for Argos. My favourite passive/aggressive thing to do when DH is winding me up is to reserve stuff at Argos but give them his mobile number. He then gets spammed by them for days with random text messages. Ah, such fun!

ruby good to hear that your pram strike seems to be over. It was at about this age that grumpy 1 started to refuse to be in the pram at all and so I am on tenterhooks waiting for grumpy 2 to go the same way. I agree, slings are all well and good but sometimes you do just need them to be in the pram!

Nappies. I don't do nappies on weekends or evenings. Its the rule in the dwarf house that if DH is here he does the nappies. It started when he made the error first time around of plaintively 'wishing there was something he could do' because he felt excluded by bf'ing. I pointed out that there was, he could do poo. So he does.

Sleep calls. See you at 4am Mugabians xx

mzzzf · 06/11/2015 21:59

Grrrrr! More bloody fireworks, been constant since about 6pm. My poor doggies Sad I think we should follow the rule they have in Northern Ireland that no fireworks are sold in shops and it's only professional displays where you can see them!

On the plus side, I bought a new monitor today and it's fantasticshe! Grin Loving having a video monitor and I hated second guessing what the sounds meant each time she squeaked.

I'll no doubt see you ladies later at Mugabe nights! Line 'em up!

FattyNinjaOwl · 06/11/2015 22:11

Someone has stolen my cardboard bin Angry not a happy bunny. And I have to wait until Monday before I can phone the council and get a new one, which I will be charged for even though mine was stolen Angry

MaGratgarlik1983 · 06/11/2015 22:43

Pah just tried to log in on laptop as watching iplayer in bedroom and can't remember my password pah! Three hours.sleep how I long for that after last night! So now DH and DS are sound asleep yet I'm so wired and can't drop off! Just watching Asian provocateur on catch up which is interesting but not quite the same story as told in anils ghost that I'm reading at the mo. My mom just gave me the new philippa Gregory as well - it's a shame my attention span is shot to pieces! Anyway going to feed the little man again. Line up the sambucas it's going to get messy at mugabe nights Later!

sianihedgehog · 06/11/2015 22:51

Slowife I still prewash! So it's you, me, and Kbro's DH.

We have the same "he does evening and weekend nappies" rule here. I do everything overnight since I have to feed, and I do daytime nappies while DP is at work since I'm on maternity leave. But if he's here and awake it's his job.

Signs are pointing to another bad night here. DS woke after only an hour and has been startling at DP's percussive snoring while he feeds so he's not falling asleep. I don't mind normal snoring, but this is all sudden random grunts and snorts. I'll get a round in at Mugabe Nights.

Lilydreams · 06/11/2015 23:52

Thanks for the birthday wishes! Kbro yes I got a mummy card but ruby defo get dropping hints as I literally had to say to DH- buy me a card from DS yes?

Wrote ^ that hours ago and apparently didn't post it! Just got in from first evening out without DS- PIL had him at our house which was only round the corner from the restaurant we were at. Had a n amazing evening the food was amazing (going to prove dangerous having found such a good place on our doorstep!) and it was take your own alcohol/ proud that I've paced myself feel a little merry but not mashed- drank prosecco all evening yum yum! DS is sound asleep and I'm so happy I waited till now as I wasn't over anxious and really enjoyed the evening! Although had one guilty moment where I had got so engrossed in adult conversation and good food and drink that I forgot he was at home! Eeeek!

Will catch up and post later- no doubt in Mugabe nights circa 4am but for now I'm off to bed!

nolongerwaitingfornumber2 · 07/11/2015 00:39

Line up the flaming sambucas and toffee vodkas! It's happy hour at Mugabe Nights Augmums.

Not too bad here but have just had to feed DS to sleep as he has bad wind tonight and can't settle himself like he usually does and that tends to lead to multiple night waking and comedy loud farts that wake me up!

Slow, do you live in Chester by any chance? I am deducing from zoo and poncy historic city!

Siani, my DS had a hip scan too and we had to wait until 10 weeks. It is a long wait but I was pleased they checked him out as we have a history of hip problems in the family.

Ruby, I am with you on the prams. Mine has been gathering dust for weeks as DS hated it but now seems happier and I enjoy a break from the sling. I can't remember who else has one but I have a Connecta too which I love. We've got skulls and flowers design.

Mzzzf, fireworks going off here too still. It's so annoying and unnecessary at this time. I feel so sorry for all the animals.

Fatty, shits all round and a nicked bin - you definitely deserve a decent night's sleep!

Magrat, that's what happens to me too. Everyone else falls asleep and I'm wide awake but exhausted.

Lily, that sounds perfect and just the tonic! Don't feel guilty for getting engrossed in adult conversation though. If he'd been on your mind the whole time you wouldn't have enjoyed it as much.

Going to try and get some zzzzs now.

mzzzf · 07/11/2015 02:41

Annnnnnnd here I am for an early-ish opening drink for me! I'll have 2 x coccodamol and a larger glass of weak Ribena thanks. I have a banging headache. Thank goodness I'm allowed to take proper drugs now I'm not preggo. Trying to nip it in the bud before it becomes a fully blown stinker... Anyone else get severe headaches/migraines?! It's either my period coming back to town again soon or lack of sleep has temporarily broken my noggin. Anyway I shall put my tiny violin away now!

Well done for having a lovely ADULT evening out Lily! I'm looking forward to my birthday in a few weeks for precisely that reason Grin

And yes yes yes to the wide-awakeness when DH and LO have dropped off. I can literally lay in bed wishing myself to sleep whilst they both happily snore either side of me. Hmmm maybe I need my own room?!

It's the weekend at last! I'm hoping DH will take her tomorrow morning so that I can get a lie it. He got to lie in both days last weekend, annoyingly when I mentioned it was my turn for some zzz's he looked slightly surprised and said he couldn't remember getting a lie in and that he had had a busy week at work. Oh no no no mister don't try and play that game, it's my bloody turn!!!

And confession time, I'm a massive fan of the waitrose shop. Mr Waitrose has been delivering to me since mini mzzzf arrived. It really isn't expensive, especially if you stay away from the Duchy stuff etc. I loves it! Not least because they keep dishing out loads of big ole vouchers - this week has £30 off my bill BUT they also give you bars of 'thank you' chocolate with each shop and I blooming dig that!!! Grin

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 07/11/2015 03:00

Ooof! .

We are paying the price for the giraffe house sensory overload now. Grumpy 2 went out like a light at 8pm but (creature of habit that she is) has moved her feed forward an hour accordingly to the much less social 2:45am. Sadly I didn't think to switch my bedtime accordingly Sad

siani hooray for another member of the pre washing club, starting to feel slightly less bat-shit crazy now Grin. Fortunately grumpy 2 has stopped needing changing at night as that was always a grey area in the great nappy divide.

nolonger ah busted! You are right. Reading my pp back it is a bit obvious if you know the area. We've been up here a couple of years now but I still get tickled when I pop into town and see random blokes dressed as Roman Centurions ambling around - tee hee!

lily glad you had a lovely evening, nothing wrong with relaxing and forgetting about DS for a while.

So tonight's bottling was equally dreadful, it would seem we have created a full on bottle refuser. Late bedtime on my part due to frantically googling tips for introducing your recalcitrant 10-week old to a bottle. Any hints and tips from you lovely lot VERY gratefully received.

Joskar · 07/11/2015 09:06

We had a lovely time at the beach - I should say it was not sunny at all. 8 Celsius and grey. If we waited for good weather in the north of Scotland we'd never leave the house! - The sea chased us and we (dd1 mainly) ate sand. Went to the park and the library too so it was an action packed day. I wish we lived closer to the beach. I grew up in the outer Hebrides and I miss it so much.

Dd2 and I went to the pub and had an ace time. It's grand when they're so wee and you can just cart them with you. She was so jolly. She just fed or laughed and giggled. Everyone thought she was a super star. I'm a bit jealous of the cocktails but I'll live. Maybe if she starts sleeping in the evening instead of feeding but I don't know.

Getting cards from the bairns for your birthday is lovely. Also Mother's Day. Dh and I had a huge row on my first Mother's Day because he hadn't dealt with it. I'm not in the least fussed for a gift but I want a card! Since then I've made my feelings clear well in advance!

Anyone doing anything fun this weekend? Considering the fireworks party tonight but not sure dd1 would cope. She loved it last year at age 1 but I'm not so sure this year. Are ear defenders really necessary, do you think?

rrra · 07/11/2015 09:09

Slow, I found DS wanted the milk much warmer than I expected in a bottle. Obv not sorching but not just like warm either. And I have it while he was in a bouncy chair so he wasn't expecting a breastfeed in my arms.

We've had a rough couple of days as my DD has been ill. Just a virus the doc thinks, but high temps, cough and vomiting. Now DS seems to have the cough but I'm hoping my antibodies help him ward off any kind of temp.

Just dug out my copy of no cry sleep solution. Going to try and work on naps a bit. I've been able to put him down in his swing once asleep, and he may stay asleep for 20-30 mins. He seems to want to do most of his napping between 12-3 at the moment, will wake for. Feed and will then want to go back to sleep again. Nights had gotten worse back to only one 3 hour stretch then two hours rest of the night, but he did 5 hours last night.

Siani, glad the scan was Ok. Hope you had a better nights sleep.

Mugabe nights seems popular. I was there, but being antisocial drinking alone in the corner. I can't type and feed in the night!

Grok · 07/11/2015 11:08

Hello? Mind if I join for an expression martini? 13 week old baby started her sleep regression and I'm so fucking tired!! Husband gone for the day, no family around... tea tea and more tea (we'll pretend they're martinis)

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

loveandsmiles · 07/11/2015 11:18

Morning all - DD was on best behaviour after keeping me up all Thursday night - woke at 4am - great sleepSmile

Haha frolic - just recently got a TV in bedroom so maybe no more DCs now - DH keeps trying to get an Internet connection in there but nothing working, unless he is just making it up!!

slow & mzzzf I am soooooooo jealous you have a Waitrose nearby. I took older DCs to a swimming gala a couple of weeks ago and got lost driving there, however I stumbled across a Waitrose and was delighted - after dropping them at gala I had to quickly nip back in car and go and shop, shop, shop then hurriedly back to watch them swim - they were thrilled with goodies I got them for their lunch breakGrin. DH couldn't believe it when we arrived back home at night with a boot full of shopping - he always says I manage to shop and spend money everywhere I go!!

fatty my bin was stolen a while back and I got another delivered without having to pay. The plus of having such a big family is that I get double the amount of bins so enough room for all my rubbish, the downside is they look horrible and take up too much room.

Wonderful weekend to all.........

FattyNinjaOwl · 07/11/2015 11:32

love I have to pay a tenner. My council are arses. Sad checked on the website. Lost or stolen bins: if your bin is lost or stolen and you require a replacement a charge of £11 will be applied. You will not receive a replacement until the fee has been paid in full. (Or something like that anyway)
DP is here tonight so I will finally get some sleep! Yay!

Lilydreams · 07/11/2015 13:42

Hello all I also sat quietly in the corner at Mugabe nights last night- I was too tired to type! DS had a fun night of murmering making out he was hungry and then when I went to get him he'd be flat out! I even made a bottle at 4.30 which he didn't end up eating till 0645 (confession: I left it over the 2 hour rule) and even then he only took 3oz! Little monkey! He did however drop off just as I was about to get up for the day at 7.30 and let me stay in bed till 9.30 which was appreciated!

I used to pre wash everything but I have taken to not bothering as usually I can't wait to get him in a super cute outfit!

Oooo I may have to try wait rose the freebie sound ace! I started ordering DS's milk from ocado as it was the only place that continued to stock 'comfort' when there was the Cow and gate shortage on and on my 2nd shop got loads of freebies- full pack of pampers nappies, full size olay moisturiser, full size pack of water wipes, a few different bags of weaning snacks and some baby porridge I was majorly impressed! If I do another 2 shops I'll get either chocs or champagne!

The bins are annoying aren't they fatty- we had to pay £40 for our black bin when we moved in as new build house but the 3 recycling ones were free!

Joksar that sounds lovely- I can't wait till my dad finishes refurbishing his house and we can go stay they are about 10 mins walk from the beach! We've missed proper fireworks this year as I wasn't sure about the whole ear defender thing and just did some in our garden with DS inside watching through the window instead! Off to see the illuminations tonight- I do believe they are rubbish and for kids but when DH realised I had never been as a kid he said he'd take us- going for late lunch/ early tea first- all I've done is eat out this week I need to start my diet with a vengeance on Monday (again!). I think I was staring at another women at swimming with a nearly 1 year old today in awe of her abs in her bikini!! I had to take DS in again as DH was too rough!! Hmm I'm sure it was supposed to be MY first drink in a year! Good job I was sensible!

He's being extra lovely today as I think he feels guilty- that's also why we're having a nice day out today as he feels guilty for my birthday- I never explained why it started rubbish did I? Long story short I possibly expected too much from him, I'd chosen all my presents so had no suprises (my fault I suppose) but although money is tight and I didn't expect a big gesture I thought he would have planned to take me somewhere for lunch etc. I went to baby massage in the morning as it was the last session and came home to him making pancakes which I was happy with- he ruined them and gave up and went watching TV. Then spent 2 hours cleaning for the second day in a row because his family were coming round later and God forbid if the house doesn't look like a show home!! Once I realised we weren't going anywhere I thought I may as well have a sleep so I did- 3 hours later when I woke up I suggested we go for a coffee or something and when he asked why I was a bit miserable and I told him the truth I had then 'made him feel like shit'! I think it was my own fault for expecting too much, it just makes me a bit fed up when I see SIL and my brothers girlfriend both getting suprised all the time by BIL and my brother and my DH doesn't use his noggin! For his bday last year I suprised him with a trip to London and Harry Potter studios and even made him a Hogwarts letter and other little scrolls with suprises written on for him to open on the journey!

Whoever mentioned Mother's Day- if I don't get a card and flowers from DS I will definately kill DH!!! We've been together 11 years and have a bit of a running joke how he's never bought me flowers- he says if he did now id be suspicious!! So when DS was born and I got flowers from other people it came up again and I said I didn't mind him not getting them but would be expecting them from DS for Mother's Day- they can be our tradition for that- if he forgets his life won't be worth living! Grin

Welcome Grok

Mzzf adult time was great and we are going to plan another night like a parents' Xmas do with our friends!

mzzzf · 07/11/2015 13:52

Hey Grok! Welcome! Mugabe Nights is open for all, bar snacks are calorie free and drinks are paid for with the presentation of sleep deprived eye bags.

Mini mzzzf is back to usual shitty second half of the night. After night feed she was up at 4, 5 and 6. At 6.45 DH took her downstairs and I slept for 3 actual, consecutive, awesome hours! Also treated myself and took my pjs off to sleep - bliss! Been wearing pjs since having dd and needing to be up and out of the covers at night so its lovely to errr...let it all hang out Grin

Crappy that you have to pay for bin replacements Fatty! You've had a proper run of crappola, hope this massively improves missus.

Well it's proper grey and drizzling here in Glasgow. No actual daylight to speak of, just bleak. DH is going to take the dogs out for a mooch whilst I mumsnet and hold a napping mini mzzzf.

Oh and I've ordered a star snug - thank you to whoever showed them off. DD kicked off her blanket twice into wet ground this week so hopefully it'll do the job!

I still need to work on project 'nap off of me' but I need her to be able to self soothe as I can see she's tired but needs me to dummy and blanket her to get her to doze off in my arms. Any tips?!

Oh and joy of joys I think period is heading back my way - explains the uber headaches I guess! Wondering if I should start the pill again or have a natural cycle...

mzzzf · 07/11/2015 14:02

Arrrgh cross post! That does indeed sound like a shitty birthday, to be even think about having a coffee or cake out. I know what you mean about not wanting giant expensive gifts but that lovely little gestures mean the world. Men would do a lot better with women the world over if they had an ounce more thoughtfulness!!
My birthday is in a couple of weeks, goodness knows what'll happen but it's on a weekday so nothing on that day but DH has hinted at going away the following weekend - dare I hope?!!! Grin

Lilydreams · 07/11/2015 14:16

Glad it wasn't just me over reacting! They are a bit useless sometimes these men aren't they! That's the thing we always take my birthday week off as we have take an autumn weeks leave so we don't know what else to use it for so he had plenty time to come up with something! I will keep my fingers crossed you get a lovely weekend away somewhere- something lol the cabin with hot tub someone wake was going to- can't remember who!?

Love your 3 hours of hanging out sleep! Sounds fab especially on such a grey day to me all snuggled up in the duvet! It's miserable here too but not cold weirdly! You have just persuaded me to order a star snug for DS they are ideal for if I taking him somewhere in the car and can't have his coat on in his car seat and is going to be indoors at the other end- where did you order from? Just googled and notonthehighstreet seems to be the main one I see?

Oh no to the impending AF- but like you say at least the headache is explained! I used to get terrible 2/3 day migraines in my first trimester which I don't miss! Still no AF here and DSis 15 weeks tommorrow- told myself I won't worry until the new year Confused

FattyNinjaOwl · 07/11/2015 14:19

Just seen on a website that in 2013 (when DD was born) there were 17 babies named Derek! 17!
But only 9 with DDs name. How can Derek be so popular?!

mzzzf · 07/11/2015 14:40

Lily - the website is called tuppence and crumble! tuppenceandcrumble.com/shop/index.php?route=common/home

Lots of lovely things on there though so be warned!!!

Derek?! WTF?!!!!! Derek is on 'the list'. My best mate and I have a long standing joke of what names we add to our "worst names for a dog list" - Barbara and lorraine are also on it! Grin

Giraffescandance1 · 07/11/2015 14:51

mzzf oh I love the free chocolate with waitrose deliveries too! Though last week they gave me some free sweetcorn instead and I wanted to grab and rattle the friendly delivery man 'Where's my effing chocolate wise guy, You can shove the sodding sweetcorn!!' But I restrained myself.

slow hope you enjoyed a nice saunter round the aisles at waitrose. I've been splashing out on fancy groceries since late pregnancy as if I'm not socialising or going to restaurants then I'll have great food at home instead. Dh loves it too.

Has anyone had baby hand and footprints done? We're getting the pottery ones done tomorrow in morhercare. Someone gave us a home kit but I messed it up so I'll get some basic ones done professionally, I love the ones I had done for dd1.

Lilydreams · 07/11/2015 15:00

Thanks mzzf! I'll have to set myself a limit!

Derek is awful although I think the 'old man'names ate making a come back so maybe that?

Giraffes- sweet corn instead of choc is truly awful! We've bought canvas's and paints and are going to do hand/ foot prints on them when I remember to do them!

FattyNinjaOwl · 07/11/2015 15:01

I know "old people" names are becoming popular but Derek is awful.
I knew my DDs name wasn't popular, but I thought there would be more than 9.

FattyNinjaOwl · 07/11/2015 15:02

giraffes I might have thrown the sweet corn in a strop. It's nothing like chocolate.
