happy Sunday augmums Smile
The dog is much more stable, so we've been out for lunch and coffee and cake! I'm stuffed.
Sorry so many of you were at the bar last night. Ds is still very late going down for the night (about 11-12) but is generally now doing 7 hours straight, which is a godsend.

Does anyone else have a child who seems very easily over stimulated? Ds has got so nosy and excitable in recent weeks. It can take ages to calm him down sometimes, even when he's shattered. I've had to move bath time to the afternoons because he won't sleep for hours afterwords Confused.

Well done on yestetday's project nap progress clstow. Ds can only manage a decent nap if we go for a big walk. It's pissing it down today so no chance.

I hope ds keeps getting better rrra.

slow, we are way down the coast in proper Welsh Wales. It's beautiful here. We've lived and worked all over, but it's lovely that ds will grow up in the same place I did.
We're supposed to be having a weekend your way in a couple of weeks to get started on Christmas shopping. It all depends on the dog now, but I will wave at you if we make it!

I'm still crying all the time nolonger! Always happy tears when I think of how lucky we are and how amazing our boy is.

I will tentatively join you tomorrow everything. I have completely lost control of the breast feeding hunger and have actually put weight on the past couple of weeks Blush. I'm not going to do anything too strict until after Christmas, but a little restraint would do me the world of good right now.

Glad you had a good time at the illuminations lily. And well done on the successful hair colour. I am also team ginger. I may have to start with the home colour as I'm too skint for the upkeep at the hairdresser.

Your friend's husband to be sounds like quite a catch mzzf Wine
I will join you on the Caribbean holiday dream - hammock and cocktails would be so good right now.

Bottomless mimosas siani? I'm in! Where is this magical place? I must go!
I know what you mean about missing going out with friends. Dh has always played in bands and I've missed our friends and festivals and gigs so much since the hyperemesis put me off going. Hopefully ds will join us next summer.

Yay for a good night out kbro. And double yay for much needed g&t.

Enjoy fanby. Cross fingers you don't have such an epic poonami this time Grin

Tindel · 08/11/2015 18:26

Another one for team ginger - my natural colour has red highlights which I encourage by colouring it red when I have time. I always use home colours as I'm too mean to pay for a hairdresser to do it!

I'm not a runner, but I'd join in for group motivation on a diet. I was weighed at my hospital appointment on Monday and I'm back at my pre-pregnancy weight, but reckon I could do with losing another half a stone.

frolic J definitely gets overstimulated, I think that's why we had such a terrible night last night. He was in a strange place, he saw new people and had lots of fuss and attention. If we're out somewhere noisy, I swear he gets stage fright and only feeds for a short time, so he is extra hungry when we get home.

Lovely weekend back at my parents and showing J off to friends etc, but glad to be home. Hoping he will be more settled tonight and I can have a better sleep

Dozygirl · 08/11/2015 20:20

Sorry to those of u having bad nights. I've heard it 2-4-1 cocktails tonight at Mugabe Nights so treat yourselves if u find yourself there later.

I'm gonna start bringing piper's bedtime forward I think. She goes to bed when we do but last 2 nights had slept for 8ish or 9 hours. So I've not been able to get up and out of the house as early as fanby because dd allows me to sleep a little longer. Will see how it goes. I'm very grateful that she sleeps so well at night most of the time.

Yes lily u saw me heehee. I went to the beach one hot day to meet a friend while pregnant and I thought I was going to melt to nothing haha. Hated being pregnant in the summer. Usually I love the sun. I'm desperate to go skiing too. I didn't bother going while I was pregnant so I wanna go this time. Plus my friends that live in Switzerland in a ski resort are selling up in April and moving back to the UK so I'll definitely have to get one last visit in abs take advantage of the free accommodation. I was shocked to hear they were coming back. I love where the live. But need to lose weight to fit into my ski pants and jacket.

Mzzf wow sounds like your friend is marrying a real catch there!! Doesn't sound very promising for the future. Hope it works out for them.

I've found when people are holding my baby I never quite relax enough to enjoy what I'm doing without her. She'd have to be completely taken away for me to relax. Never thought I'd be like that. I'm happy to pass her around and have her but I'm always ready and waiting for when she gets upset and wants to come back to me. Well it's not me she wants, just my boobs and she doesn't even really like those lol.

Forgotten who's baby is poorly sorry but I hope they are getting better. Just keep a close eye on him.

Lilydreams · 08/11/2015 20:48

Oh Fanby I have to say I'm glad DS doesn't have a super early alarm yet! He's taken to having a feed anywhere from 5.30 to 7am but I can usually get him to go back to sleep. That said when I'm back at work he will have to be at nursery for 7am so he's going to have to get used to early mornings eventually! OMG to your cinema poonami!! We have only ever had 2 tiny leaks onto vests/ trousers- one being today and DH made a right faff of sorting it whilst we were at his mums- she tried to help and ended up with poo under her nails I was quite amused watching the two of them!!

Frolic- DS isn't too bad now but he did used to get over stimulated when he was a bit younger- one night we came home from a little tea party where he'd been passed around a lot and he then screamed until midnight which is not like him at all. The tutor at baby massage said she's known quite a few babies (including hers) that got stimulated by baths and she used to bath her daughter in a morning for that reason so your not alone.

Tindel- jealous that you are back to pre pregnancy weight I need to lose about 14lbs to get there and then another 3 or 4 to be at my usual maintenance weight. Dozy I definately couldn't fit into my ski pants right now!! And I know what you mean about when baby is being passed around not relaxing- I was happy to leave him on Friday but just been to his nannies for tea and was watching him out the corner of my eye whilst talking! Bizarre!

Kbro- yay for the night out and g and ts!!

Right if we are starting diet motivation tommorrow then I need to go and eat the contents of our goodie cupboard- that's how it works right!?!

everythingispeachy · 08/11/2015 21:43

Evening after last nights rubbish sleep, I am going to follow my own advice and go to bed with the baby. He's just fallen sleep feeding so now for a stealthy transfer.

I have a stone and a half to lose to get back to pre pregnancy weight. I am not a runner at the best of times but definitely not with these boobs and lack of supportive bras. I'll try to up my walking though and get out everyday. Good luck everyone.

Hope mugabe nights is quieter tonight but better get me a gin and orange lined up for the 2am feed.

sianihedgehog · 08/11/2015 21:57

Ugh, not looking promising here tonight. DS is fussy as all hell and keeps waking as soon as I put him down, plus DP is ill and snoring at roughly the volume of Brian Blessed really trying to make himself heard. :(

rrra · 08/11/2015 22:09

Hi everyone. Well DS had another couple of choking/gagging/struggling to breathe episodes this morning. I was standing in the bathroom with he shower going trying to help him. He threw up phlegm all down me onto my slippers! My DH took over while I called 111, but he was so worried he wanted to go to the hospital there and then. I was scared to Put him in the car seat as we were keeping him upright so he could breathe and clear the blockage. He wanted to go with one of us holding him but I said absolutely not. So instead we rang 999. Probably overreaction, but they rent a rapid response unit. He checked DS over and he had started to calm again. Stats were all Ok but he wanted us checked at hospital as DD was so young. So we the got an ambulance too. I went with him, and he was checked over by a paediatric doc. Seems to have bronchiolitis, but only home treatment needed as his oxygen stats and temp were fine. Was glad we called, and paramedics said even if we'd called 111 they would have dispatched an ambulance for a baby with breathing difficulties.

Scary morning, but good to know nothing too serious. Bad part is it might get worse before it gets better! So having been hanging around at home last week because DD was ill, I'll be doing it again this week too!

Many drinks for me please at Mugabe nights. And drinks all round too. Now that DS seems to be asleep I'm going to grab whatever sleep I can get!

mzzzf · 08/11/2015 22:21

Oh rra that's proper scary monsters! Well done for getting it sorted out though and keeping your cool!

I am lining myself up for a night sleeping propped up on the sofa as DDs snot filled face has returned with avengance! She keeps waking up from coughing and spluttering when laid down so it'll be upright sleeping for both of us. Oh the joys of parenthood!!!

Hope everyone else is having/will have much better nights!

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 08/11/2015 22:43

Evening all,

rrra what a scary day for you all! I am so glad to hear that it turned out alright in the end, obviously sorry that DS is poorly still, but grateful that it was not anything worse. Wine for you tonight, or Cake if booze is not an option.

I can't remember who has been having issues finding nursing bras that don't give 'shelf boob' but if it helps anyone I am finding mine are really good and give a decent shape. They are made by a company called Anita and they are underwired too which I find does help avoid saggy boob www.nursingbra-shop.co.uk/search.asp?types=Anita+Maternity

frolic What a lovely part of the world for DS to grow up in! My Dad loved North Wales so much that he went to college to learn Welsh, he's always been one for a good hobby. We spent every summer in Snowdonia as a kid and toured around the whole area. Both DH and I are from Watford, which is definitely the kind of place you don't return to inflict upon your children. I attach a photo of grumpy 2 being eyed up by the giraffes at the zoo Smile

siani I miss live music too! DH and I used to take the van to festivals all over Europe before grumpy 1. We've taken her to a few one day things and last summer we all braved Shambala (not my first choice of festival but good for kids). Can't wait till grumpy 2 is big enough to don the ear defenders.

clstow great that you and your OH are able to switch around the parental leave. When I went back to work I found it such a massive bonus that it was DH taking over the childcare. By the time grumpy 1 did go to a childminder I had been safely back at work a few months and the transition was nowhere near as hard. I hear you on the bf'ing. I am a tight-fisted bugger so will continue until she self weans but I wasn't devastated to finish last time and will not be again this time.

mzzf that sounds like a Jeremy Kyle car crash of a wedding. My only question is how can you NOT go??

lily Another one for team Red here! Although I haven't dyed since my bfp so do need to get on with that. I've been a home-brew redhead for almost 5 years now. Love it.

fanby have a lovely break you lucky, lucky sod. Looking forward to hearing all about it on your return to Mugabe Nights

Dozy I am the same when other people hold grumpy 2, I find myself twitching to get her back whilst at the same time complaining that I can't ever drink a hot drink, get to the loo, dry my hair etc. Motherhood turns us into contrary individuals. Can I still blame the hormones??

Must go to sleep now. Grumpy 2 has had a slight upset tummy, not that it has bothered her in the slightest, but has evacuated the offending whatever and is now sleeping peacefully. Sleep while the baby sleeps etc etc

Joskar · 08/11/2015 23:24

Also a ginge. Out a bottle these days. Well, a bit any road. Dh does it for me on the grounds that it is tons cheaper.

Dh is a sahd. Makes him less of an ass. Still doesn't think he needs to wipe round/do all the dishes. Pah!

Had smil and fil over for their tea tonight and so am a touch tiddly. Poor dd2, boozy boob for her.

Rra- hope all is well. Awful and scary I'm sure.

Frolicacid · 08/11/2015 23:30

Evening all! Just popping in for a swift one as ds is already asleep.

Looks like there are a few of us gingers on here then! I have some natural tones, but it's mostly bottle. It makes me laugh when people ask if I think ds will be ginger too. Some of them can't hide their horror at the thought. I always reply that I hope so!

Thank you tindel and lily - glad I'm not the only one with an easily stimulated little one. It doesn't get him too upset, just very, very busy.

Dozy, absolutely yes to not relaxing when others are holding PFB ds. I never thought I'd be like this, but I totally have to sit on my hands when he's being passed around. Especially if he gets a bit grumpy and they try to settle him when I know he just wants me or the boob.

you poor things! How scary. I hope he gets better very soon.

Giraffes are my fave slow! Have you seen the baby ones? I want one!
That's really great of your dad. I am first language Welsh and feel really lucky to be able to bring ds up bilingually.

Right, I better try to get some zzz's. If only I hadn't polished off the chocolate Brazil's we bought for dh's for Christmas just before bed Blush. Sugar rush ahoy!

everythingispeachy · 09/11/2015 03:24

Evening. 5 hours sleep and already got more than last night. Hoping for a quick feed and then straight back to bed.

Bottle of fizz and a straw for Rrra. What a scary day! My friends 3 month old was in hospital for a few nights last year with the same thing and low oxygen levels. All fine now but you can't be too careful with breathing difficulties. Well done for acting quickly.

I would love to have red hair. I am more of a dark blond. All this talk of home dye is tempting me but I am scared it will look silly. Any tips?

Slow thanks for the link will check it out. I hate my nursing bras!

Anyone else using a crib? Ours swings but I think it is now getting too narrow and Ds is hitting his hands on the bars. I think I will transfer him into the cot bed soon but need to a get a new mattress. I am amazed how quickly this has happened ds1 was nearer 6 months before he was transfered. Ds2 is a little chubster though.

Right hopefully back to bed for more sleep.

rrra · 09/11/2015 03:51

Been up for two hours now. DS fallen asleep again now. His breathing is starting to calm so hopeful for a transfer soon. My back and neck are killing me from pacing with him yesterday and today. He is a heavy boy! Been reading up and yesterday/today are worst days so hopefully after tomorrow will be better.

Thanks for the drinks. Much appreciated!!

On the subject of Wales, we went on hols there this year. Two nights up in Snowdonia and four down at Bluestone in Pembrokeshire. Was ace. Loved Tenby and want to return. Also, unrelated but my DS watches cartoons on I player and she has stumbled across loads of Welsh language ones. She seems to love them and so I'm fully expecting her to be fluent soon! She watches more than I'd like at the moment, while I'm sorting DS or simply need 5 mins peace!

rrra · 09/11/2015 03:53

Ooh, and I had one of those Anita underwired bras last time around. It was great. Stupidly gave it away! Now only shelf inducing non wired ones. Hate them.

Grok · 09/11/2015 05:34

Evening all, just been at the bar drinking quietly all night. I look forward to this sleep regression ending and little Celeste can go back to sleeping 12 hours with a quick Fred at 6am only!

Everything, Dd sleeps in a crib beside me. I also have the Sleepyhead mattress inside it. Despite my gestational diabetes, she was a healthy 7 lbs 1 oz when born so needed something to make the crib more cozy. She's long though and is getting close to outgrowing the crib. When her sleeping gets back to normal in the next month, DH and I were discussing tonight moving her into her cot in the nursery. I also take her in there and feed her on the glider chair during the day for her nap routine to get her to nod off before transferring to crib in our room, so hopefully she'll already associate her room with sleep! That's the theory anyway Hmm

slow, The Anita bra looks great. Wish I had known about it 14 weeks ago. I figure now I might as well endure shelf boob for another 3 months before weaning!

Btw another redhead here! I have my hairdresser do it for fear of drying out my long hair and having to cut it. Dd is strawberry blonde atm so wonder if she'll be a natural ginge like her grandpa!

Time for some more -sleep-drinks.

FattyNinjaOwl · 09/11/2015 07:26

I'm fucking shattered. DS was a pain and wouldn't sleep until 3 am. Then at 5 am DD came into my room and climbed in my bed. She wouldn't go back to sleep she just wanted cuddles.

mzzzf · 09/11/2015 07:28

I am drowning in a sea of snot! Well DD is and I am now as I've sucked it all out of her. There is very little else as satisfying to do Grin

The poor little mite had gone super snotty again, wondering if it's the same cold or a new one... Thankfully my mum is here now for a few days.

Re hair colour I'm naturally jet black, although I do have a grey morticia streak of grey that started when I was 21 but I did that section frequently so it blends in!! Mini mzzzf is deffo not as dark haired as me and has hints of Jamaican sunset in her hair, more auburn maybe. But her daddy is a true scot so looks like she's heading that way Smile

Was thinking during the night of things that babies just 'know'. Mine are:
She knows the exact moment I have finally laid down and pulled the covers over me to start up again.
She knows the right naps to skip in order to be out cold later when we need her awake.
And finally she knows when we're all in fresh pjs as that's the sick-up signal! Grin

mzzzf · 09/11/2015 07:51

Oh fatty - cross post. Poor you!!! Caffeine is your friend today Grin oh and cake!!!

Giraffescandance1 · 09/11/2015 08:13

Morning all.

I see they are hosing down the street outside Bar Mugabe again and moving on a few of us from the gutter Grin

frolic my baby can definitely be overstimulated. Especially when grandparents visit...she loves the smiles and chat and cuddles for a couple of hours but after that she gets really fed up, starts crying and needs to be wound down. Doesn't help that whenever she's trying to sleep on the playmat or wherever the grandparents seem to lunge in and start chatting to her and waking her up...LET THE BABY SLEEP!!! Sometimes I feel it's not getting baby to sleep that's the problem, it's stopping other people from keeping her awake!

Fatty you definitely win the prize for hardest night. If it's any consolation I had dd1 only bed too, from 5.30am she was making the duvet into a bus and driving baby and I around in it Hmm I was getting told off for such things as not using the bell appropriately and not being strapped in on the bus. Baby loved it, she's gone back to sleep now as dd1 has been taken to the childminder. Only consolation was the beautiful sunrise over London this morning.

I'm having some casts made of dd2 hands and feet this week, something to treasure Smile

Dozygirl · 09/11/2015 08:24

Piper is a ginge!!! We didn't expect that though as both me and dp are blonde so fully expected her to be blonde. I'm interested to see what kind of shade of ginge she will be when she gets more of it because right not it's all sorts of different shade . She's definitely got the temper to go with the red hair anyway.

Rrra how scary for u all. Good to hear he didn't need treatment. Must have been terrifying though. U definitely did the right thing.

I've got 1.5 stone to lose to get to pre pregnancy weight and and another 1.5 stone to get to my comfortable weight. And then even more to lose to get to ideal weight but i don't know what that is yet. I'm doing terrible at dieting over the weekends though so it means I'm not really losing anything at the moment. Need to start being more organised with food but I'm just not an organised person. I can't see further than one day ahead if u know what I mean. I just nip to the shops and buy something for tea that night which isn't ideal if I'm too busy in the day to get to the shops so then we end up eating out or having take away. I'm crap at being an adult sometimes.

OP posts:
rrra · 09/11/2015 08:37

Fatty, that is a rubbish night! Beats mine ever with the coughing and pacing u and down.

I weighed myself this morning out of interest. I'm 7lbs over pre prey weight, but about 14lb over where I should be. Going to start dialling down the treats and go out for some more walks when health returns to the rrra household.

Tindel · 09/11/2015 09:44

everythingispeachy Superdrug sell wash in, wash out hair colours for about a quid. You leave it in for 5 minutes, so can do it in the shower. It's quite a subtle effect, but a good way to test out colours. I only use those and semi-permanent colours and have done on and off since I was 13.

Re my weight, I didn't put a huge amount on when I was pregnant, mainly as I had no appetite for the first 12 weeks. I was quite wary of stuffing my face, so tried to eat the same as I did before I got pregnant, with the occasional snacking KFC run . I did also have J at 35 weeks, so missed out on the final weeks where lots of my friends seemed to put lots on.

Am eating like a pig due to bf hunger, but have been walking lots (couldn't drive after emcs). Am sure if I don't keep an eye on it, I will put weight back on. I've been trying to get to under 9 stone for the past few years (I'm 5 foot 1), so maybe I will get there to see if it suits me.

Our Saturday night of no sleep obviously exhausted J, as he passed out around 7 and didn't want to be fed again until almost 11! We did successfully get him to take a dummy to properly get him off to sleep, but found it under his head when we came to bed, so left it for the night. Feels like we're getting there with his sleep, but who knows what tonight will bring...

kbro79 · 09/11/2015 10:09

Looks like magabe's was packed last night. We were in the back drinking for hours. So much for it getting better at 12 weeks. DS sleep is getting worse!

Rrrra how bloody horrible. Well done for coping. Sounds too scary. Hope baba is on the mend.

You know when your at work and you have a day when you just can't be bothered. Well today I just can't be bothered to look after a baby. Very wrong to go outside and offer the first person I see £100 to look after DS for the day?

Frolicacid · 09/11/2015 10:49

Good morning!
Sorry for those of you who has shit nights. Ds seems to have fallen nicely into a pattern of sleeping for 7 hours, having a quick feed and then sleeping for another 3 hours. I REALLY hope it lasts!

We have a crib everything. Not a swinging one, it's more like a mini cot. He's still got plenty of room. We use the sleepyhead in it, which should last up until about 8 months. We don't really have room for a cot in our room, so hopefully we'll be able to use it until he goes into his own room.

Glad Ds seems to be on the mend rrra. Ds can practice his Welsh with me sometime Smile

Fingers crossed this sleep regression won't last long for you grok. Better to get it out if the way I suppose.

Oh god fatty! Today is going to be a long day for you BrewBrewBrewBrew

Poor mini mzzf. I hope she's better soon.
Ds absolutely knows when I've put him in a nice outfit and throws up. He also seems to have a sixth sense to wanting food just as I sit down to eat.

I know exactly what you mean to people waking Ds up giraffes. My main annoyance are the ones who reach in the pram and touch his cheek despite me telling them he's fast asleep.

I have exactly the same amount of weight to lose as you dozy. Both to pre-baby and comfortable weight. We've obviously been talking about food for too long!

Yay for a better night tindel.

I know exactly what you mean kbro. Some days I'm super enthusiastic and parent as such. Other days we do the bare minimum. I'm sure it all balances out in the end!

Have a good Monday everyone. I'm not doing much, but need to wrangle wriggly baby and nervous dog at the vet later on.

Lilydreams · 09/11/2015 11:06

Oh rra that sounds horrendously scary!! So glad it wasn't anything requiring him staying in! I'm dreading the day DS gets ill, he's not had so much as a sniffle yet!

Wow it's funny how many of us are red/ ginger! Everything I have to admit Id wanted mine red for years but was too scared of it going wrong which is why I got the hairdresser to do it first. Maybe you could do that and then dye it yourself after?

Kbro- I know what you mean about the 'I can't be bothered days' other people (I'm looking at you DH) don't seem to realise this baby looking after is a full time 24hour shift with no breaks or lazy days!

Giraffes and frolic- yes here too to people not understanding to leave baby alone when asleep!! My biggest annoyance! And DS absolutely KNOWS when I'm sitting down to eat although generally he doesn't cause too much if a fuss anymore and I can shovel it down before he occupies my hands!

Another night of murmering here! He was quiet until 3am but I stupidly didn't go to sleep till midnight! Then after that it was a few hours of every 10 minutes until he fell back deep asleep till 0730 when thankfully DH took him downstairs to let me have my lie in! Feel a bit cheated though it was one of those where you feel like you've only been asleep about 2 seconds but somehow 2 hours have passed! I haven't made a very good start to healthy eating- DH had a bacon and sausage butty waiting for me when I got up, I could hardly turn it down! I'm determined to eat well the rest of the day and to run later even though it is bouncing it down!!
