Mugabe! Tonight I fancy a frozen malteaser vodka with milk, don't think I can hack any shots tonight....

Clstow - what a lovely afternoon of pampering! Send one over here will you please Grin

Happy 3 months nolonger!!!

Slowwife - ahhhhhh! For once it sounds like ideal timing for the dentist re: bottle gate!

Everything-not that we've used them yet...you can still get free condoms at the docs Wink

Kbro - what kind of industry does DH work in?! Totally intrigued after that comment

Frolic Wine for you, and doggy treats for frolicdog x

Happy birthday lily!!! Great shout on your HP sparkler fights Grin

Oh siani - no words of wisdom just sympathy!

Magrat - feel your pain, after two nights of skipping it, we've just had the 2:30 one...fuck it, thought two nights in a row meant it may have disappeared GAAAAH wishful thinking! x

mzzzf · 06/11/2015 04:00

You know the rule ladies, three times and one for luck make it a pattern!! Or some other such bollocks!

DD had just scoffed an entire 7oz bottle!! She's not actually feeding well before 'bed' so we leave her thinking she'll wake when she's hungry and the last few nights that's been around 1am but she went until the old time she used to wake up (3am), which makes it harder to get up at 6.30am!!

Yes to expensive condoms! These cost a blooming tenner!!! WTF?! When did durex become robbing bastards for something that is essentially cling film!!!

I really have to find a lidl near me, I want stollen for breakfast!

DH and nappies - are you frickin kidding me?! Although saying that I gave a friend who's DH has only receby done his first nappy change and the baby is 6mo!! Thankfully DH has no issue doing them (despite being slow as mud!) and even if he did have an issue he'd have to get over it PDQ.

Frolic - I really hope frolic dog is ok. I really feel for you and I'm sending all good recovery thoughts your way!!

Happy birthday Lily - glad your birthday was rescued! But what made it so bad in the first place? Mugabe Nights could've squared you away! Grin

mzzzf · 06/11/2015 04:04

Oh and don't get me started on the crazy fireworks tonight ( still going off gone midnight!). At one point we had our two huge dogs in our bedroom too!!!

everythingispeachy · 06/11/2015 04:06

9- 4 wow jabs are great! Feel like I have rocks in my boobs but still.Smile Right a quick shot and back to bed to make the most of this sleepy baby.

Tindel · 06/11/2015 04:29

siani I sympathise, my DH snores and has learnt how to sleep through night feeds - he has to ask me how many "we've" done! Tonight, J has woken every 2 hours - I didn't realise how much difference these longer stints made.

In terms of family, my parents live 100 miles away and both still work full time, so are limited as to how much they can see us. They feel bad they aren't around much, so are desperate to help as much as they can when they are. ILs live 5 miles away and are both retired. They turn up very occasionally, want to hold J and then expect me to bring them cups of tea and make small talk. Last time they were here, MIL just looked for opportunities to criticise our parenting. Both sets love him, they just have different ways of showing it!

Having got J down and asleep on my own tonight, he has woken every 2 hours for a feed - aargh! What happened to my 4 hours, I could manage that. Even one would help, so hoping for the next one to be our longer one

Giraffescandance1 · 06/11/2015 04:53

Frolic hope your dog is getting better!

I say forget sensible supermarket shopping and let's go to M&S. Yesterday I filled a trolley with their pizza, juices, Percy pigs and Colin caterpillar and some amazing cakes and biscuits. I did get some fruit and veg too Grin Im feeling better already! I used the self checkout so the staff wouldn't see what a greedy bastard I was Grin

Yesterday I had a birth debrief, a bit late but the consultant was lovely and explained very clearly and kindly where there had been problems with my elective section. It was odd going back to the maternity unit! It seems to have thrown me back into some anxiety so hoping for a few days to pass so I should be back to normal.

sianihedgehog · 06/11/2015 05:45

Well SOMEONE has had less than 3h of sleep all night! Hint: it's me. Mine's a vodka and redbull I think!

Not sure if I can actually manage to drive to get to DSs ultrasound at 10. I reckon if I don't manage to get least another hour I'm going to have to get a taxi there. Poor DS looks so tired, but he just doesn't seem to be falling deeply asleep, and he's hungry. :(

Family: my mum and dad are in Canada. My mum is desperate to help despite that, as is my dad, and my mum was a great help when she visited. DPs parents are about an hour and a half drive away, which is a lot easier, but does still mean that there's no one close enough for stuff like looking after DS for an evening. I think that when he's older and less dependent on the boob we'll probably ask friends for that - loads have offered. Just need to get to the point where he can be left!

Lilydreams · 06/11/2015 05:57

Just running in for a swift one- Fanby I'll have the malt easer thing it sounds amazing! Oooo or a White Russian which is similar milky goodness!

Siani- feel for you and hoping you are asleep again right now!

Giraffes- amazing m&s swag there mmmmmmm I could spend a fortune in there so rarely allow myself!

Mzzf- the fireworks are ridiculous aren't they as much as I love them- we did ours at 8pm but the neighbours were still going at 9.30pm which was annoying for getting DS down as dogs kept barking! The rule pattern didn't work here! We had a week of no night feeds only for him to reinstate one at 4am the last 2 nights- tonight however I'm v impressed with him, being back in his usual sleeping bag must have helped- did till 4am silently no stirring/ shrieking or moaning in his sleep which was amazing meaning I got my first ever 4 hour block! Then he mumbled for half an hour but kept dropping off till 4.30 when I made him a bottle- he'd fell back asleep when I came back with it so got back in bed myself and he only woke for it again at 5.30! Feel like I'm winning for once! Going to go try and put him back down as he's asleep on my shoulder after winding!

Joskar · 06/11/2015 06:02

Sounds like an amazing birthday. Hope you had a good time and have a happy and healthy year ahead.

I want your trolley, Giraffe! Hope you're ok. It can be such a traumatic experience when birth doesn't go as planned. Hell! Even when it goes fine it can mess you up! Lots to deal with.

Been taking dd1 to the dentist since she was a tiny so she would get used to it and not be frightened. Opened up beautifully until last month. Jaws like a steel trap. Oh well another theory blown out the water!

Hope all the babies slept eventually. Dd1 was a 90 minute sleep baby til 16 weeks. Then she would do three hrs. She was about a year before she slept much longer. Brutal. I feel your pain.

Happy Friday everyone! We're going to the beach, picnic and play park.

Giraffescandance1 · 06/11/2015 07:03

Sian hope you got some sleep! Good luck with the ultrasound, thinking of you.

lily here's to hoping that your baby continues to sleep well at night!

Joskar I like the sound of your day! I need to get looking for a cottage to rent in Devon in the spring, we went for a week last year with dd1 and it was lovely and very child friendly, your post reminded me Smile

FattyNinjaOwl · 06/11/2015 07:43

My phone died. But last night was another bad night Sad
Can't remember who said what, but condoms can still be free from doctor/cash clinic (contraception and sexual health) and yes durex are robbing twats.

Happy birthday. Cake

The war on shit is ongoing.

Family: my parents both live within an hours walk (would be quicker but I can't walkHmm) my mum is fab but won't do overnight until they are out of nappies. My dads an arse and I have nothing to do with DPs family even though they live closer.

Dozygirl · 06/11/2015 09:01

Mzzf fanny gallops?! Never heard that one before haha. Made me lol.

Condoms: I still find it embarrassing buying them although I haven't done for awhile. Home bargains do cheap 'mate's' ones.

Slow, I have to confess also that I don't prewash baby clothes. I did for the first lo of clothes just because everyone else was doing it and then i Googled why u should prewsh but Google makes everything sound dire and dirty so I just ignored it haha.

Frolic poor frolic dog Sad sending u the biggest hug ever. It's so horrible when your pet is ill. They are such a huge part of your life.

Siani hope u managed some sleep. Good luck with the ultrasound today.

I'm so grateful having both sets of parents living extremely close by especially my mum. I actually don't know how I'd have survived without her. She's an absolute angel in disguise that woman and I love her to bit . She will do as much or as little as I want her to.

I had a little sneaky treat yesterday. I'd had it booked pre birth but had to be induced slightly early so missed my appointment and had it rearranged for today. Had a lovely massage and manicure. I've already smudged the nail polish though. I knew there was a reason I never painted my nails.

Took dd to the fireworks. We watched from across the road in a pub. I didn't have ear defenders for her but she seemed ok. She just kept staring at me tbh. I had her in the sling with hat and my ear muffs on. She looked super cute.

I did a bit of bf and a bit of expressing yesterday. One nip is starting to crack and bleed. Going to ring bf lady today for advice. Seems silly to be asking for advice again at nearly 3 months down the line but I don't want to give up. That's the only advice other people have to give me. 'You've done really well so far, noone will mind u switching to bottles' etc etc. Except I mind. I'm just not ready to give up yet. Not after it was such a huge battle at the beginning.

Dozygirl · 06/11/2015 09:11

My doctors won't give out free condoms anymore as it costs too much for them.

Happly birthday lily.

Giraffe your shopping haul sounds amazing. I didn't lose any weight at weightwatchers this week though so I need to be back on it. I may have eaten nachos and rocky road sundae at the pub last night though lol.

Siani sorry your night didn't get better. Lots of hugs your way.

Joskar you're making me feel like it's summer still by mentioning the beach lol. It's rainy here today boohoo.

Good morning.
Ds did another 7 hour stretch! Yay! I thought he was never going to go to sleep last night. He fed for almost 2 hours before bed. He's never done that before. Every time I tried to put him down he worked himself into a bit of a frenzy, sucking on the dummy like crazy and waving his arms and legs. I was starting to think there was something up with him before he finally flaked out. Has anyone had anything similar?

Re: family living close. We have my parents and sister and mil all close by. I just don't feel like I can ask any of them for help at the moment. My lot all work full time and have all moved house in recent months and had time off when my sisters fil died a few weeks ago. My mil has hurt her back badly and can't do anything at the moment. We're muddling through. They would all help if we asked. I also still don't feel ready to leave PFB ds.

Sorry that a few of you have had shit nights. And well done to those babies who slept.
I did a bad thing this morning. Dh told me he'd been up every 2 hours with the dog. I didn't have the heart to tell him ds had done 7 hours, so I lied and said he'd been up a few times as well. I just wanted the poor man to feel a bit of solidarity before he set off to work on such crap sleep.

Happy Friday augmums! I will be so pleased to see the back of this week.

nolongerwaitingfornumber2 · 06/11/2015 09:44

Mugabe! I don't want to gloat but the magical 3 month mark seems to be true for DS. He slept 10-5.45 and then only had a quick feed and went back to sleep until DD woke at 8. I feel like a new woman.

Fatty and Frolic, I am sorry your shit storms are ongoing battles. I put DD back into a sleeping bag to contain it as I couldn't face her getting it all over her duvet. She was fine last night though so you guys have my sympathy.

Giraffes, yes please to filling up on m&s goodies. Risky practice on mat leave pay though. I'd have to hide the evidence from DH! Hope you are feeling ok after the birth debrief.

Lily, the end of your birthday sounds lovely. Why did it start out so shit?

Dozy, that sounds just like my experience with DD. I hated expressing as there was blood in the milk from my cracked nipples. I don't know if boots still sell them but you used to be able to get a sucker thing for inverted nipples to pull them our. I know yours are just small but it might get more for her to latch onto?

Slow, I don't pre wash and they both seem ok! I use Fairy for washing though as I'm allergic to bio.

Joskar, enjoy the beach. DH's family live by the sea and I love it. We go to Dorset a lot too. Either Weymouth or Swanage. Love it round there.

Siani and Tindel, sorry for the crap nights. Hope you get some rest today if poss. It really is hit and miss isn't it?

Park for us this morning and then my folks are coming for the weekend. Will leave them looking after the kids so I can vacuum. The house is a tip and my mum is an obsessive cleaner - she should go on that programme!

nolongerwaitingfornumber2 · 06/11/2015 09:46

Oh and nappies - he'll yeah! First thing I said to him when he got in from work was "the baby needs a clean nappy"! Poor DH doesn't even get a hello these days.

Aaahhhh bless frolic so sweet when sleeping.

everything I am very envious of your long sleep Envy. I am like you siani - have had hardly any sleep - the least I've had since having DD - she fed non-stop from 12-5am!! Can't visit Mugabe nights - bedroom too far away in house to pick up Internet - connection rubbish - don't drink anyway but some company would be nice!! How is that possible?? Must be going through a massive growth spurt - where do they put all that milk - I am drunk dry. She is 13 weeks today and has fed all morning - having a nap now. Need your M&S goodies to cheer me up giraffe Smile

clstow - looking good!!

Happy Birthday Lily Cake

Family - I have no contact at all with my family although they live nearby (very long story Sad) and DHs family abroadSad

Thought I would make a big dent in the DCs Xmas lists today - Argos doing 3for2 on toys - just ended up with major rage - putting it down to lack of sleep but always get rage at Argos when they do this offer - you spend forever finding items then get to checkout and they are sold out / not available for collection - aaarrrrrggggg

Sorry, mood not good today.........

Clstow · 06/11/2015 14:11

Brew for Love, Siani, MaGrat and anyone else missing sleep. We had a much better night than the last few, I'm trying to BF DS more in the afternoon/evening so he's nice and full when he goes to bed. Probably doesn't work like that but I'm enjoying the sofa time Grin

Slow - My dentist app was a Harley street specialist (long boring story) and my oh only works round the corner so he looked after DS in the (very posh) waiting room while doing a conference call on his headset. Was such a city cliche!

Kbro that is shocking! Also intrigued as to what your DH does... When I was pregnant my dad told me he'd never changed a single one of my nappies. Apparently that was the condition of having me (I have 2 brothers quite a bit older and my mum was desperate for a third) so he could 'focus on his career' - I was like Shock but also Hmm at my mum for letting him get away with it!

Frolic your sleepy boy is just gorgeous, sending love and good vibes to Frolic dog as well.

Happy bday Lilly, glad it was rescued, and jealous of your sparkler fun, I'm a massive child when it comes to fireworks.

Dozy if you need to get the crack healed I totally recommend jelonet. It's weird moist wound healing stuff, meant for burns but perfect for cracked nips which are hard to heal coz LO keeps re-opening the wound when they feed.

Can you send your mum round here please Nolonger? House is a tip, gonna blitz over the weekend.

So DS had his 2nd jabs this morning and seems ok so far. Still smiling and being his usual cheeky self. Little superstar.

kbro79 · 06/11/2015 16:36

Argggg just lost my whole message!! Anyway.....

So this is the funny thing. DH works for the touchy feely civil service, for the courts. You'd think people there would not be so old fashioned. I assumed that must be some old timers but turns out was people younger than us. Hmm

Flowers to everyone having tough nights and / or fighting the war on shit.

DS is having a spectacular day on the fussy feeding front. Still he has finally fed and sleeping on my massive boob. It makes a great pillow for him.

The clothes washing is v annoying but DH is really anal about it and insists on washing everything first. But as he does the washing I can't complain (I man that does nappies and can use a washing machine. His colleagues mind must be blown)

Dozy there is nothing wrong with getting support whenever you need it. Regardless of how old baby is. As clstow said, breast feeding is a journey. I honestly thought that it would a tough first few weeks and then plain sailing but not so. It's much more up and down.

Anyway on a cheerier note, tomorrow night am off out!! DS and DH are staying home with a beer and bottle of formula and mamma is hitting the town.

kbro79 · 06/11/2015 16:44

Oh and happy bday lily!!! Did you get a happy birthday mummy card? Sad loser that I am, looking forward to that. Even though my birthday is months and months away.

FattyNinjaOwl · 06/11/2015 17:11

Well DS1 has caught the shit bug now. All I heard from the bathroom was "oh that's gross! It smells as bad as yours did mum!" Cheeky little bugger. I gave him the air freshener.

ruby242 · 06/11/2015 17:33

Sympathies to all having bad nights-We had a terrible 4 nights up 1-2hourly but then suddenly back to normal so I hope that reassures others that it will be short lived (...now let's just hope we don't go backwards again!!)

DS gets overtired and very upset so have been trying to introduce a dummy to help calm him-a few times he's taken it and it has worked like magic but then others he refuses completely. Anyone have any experience on this, do I just keep trying and eventually he will take it more consistently?

Oh no fatty!!

Happy birthday lily! Kbro I never thought about the happy birthday mummy card but now am excited for my birthday (and must drop hints to DH to buy me such a card!)

After DS hating the pram for ages we seem to finally have made some progress and he seems happy for a short walk-this makes me very happy as the sling gets a bit tiring all the time

Frolicacid · 06/11/2015 17:57

Sorry I missed that it was you birthday lily! I'll buy you a gin if we bump into each other at the bar later!

There must be something in the air loves. Ds fed like a maniac last night and is still going for it today. Drunk dry here as well. 12-5 is bonkers. And no internet in the bedroom? No wonder you have all those children WinkSmile

Your dad drives a hard bargain clstow! Your mum must have been very broody. I hope ds is ok after his jabs.

Ds is a fan of the boob pillow as well kbro. Mine are still huge too. Dh thinks it is very impressive that they are still bigger than the babies head 10 weeks in.

Oh no fatty! Is that all of you now? At least you know that you're safe once you've all had it. Hopefully the worst wil be over today and you can enjoy a nice weekend after a shitty (pun intended) week!

Ds is exactly the same with the dummy ruby. Sometimes it works a dream and other times he cries like I've just shoved poison in his face. i'm keeping going with it and hope that soon he'll get a bit more consistent.
Good news about the pram. I love using the sling, but it's nice to push the pram for shopping and stuff.

I think that the hound is improving a bit. Fingers and toes crossed. The war on shit has been a little less relentless today thank fuck!

Who was talking about missing work? Well, tonight I've decided that I miss Friday night after work drinks. I adore the baby (and the dog), but this has been a tough week and i was thinking earlier how I can't just go to the pub and forget it all until Monday like I usually would. Ah well! Fajitas for dinner will cheer me up.

FattyNinjaOwl · 06/11/2015 18:48

Yep that's all of us now.
I've just heard a load of banging from upstairs. Gone up to find DD sat in a suitcase on the landing. She's dragged it from under my bed! She was tired! She was meant to be asleep!
