We're in some sort of growth spurt, sleep regression, supply boosting hell. A full nights sleep is a distant dream... And I'm starving

LittleMissFlustered · 18/04/2012 02:03

Octopus has never slept well enough to regress:(

Lordy lord. Am counting my blessings.

LittleMissFlustered · 18/04/2012 02:13

Feeds every two hours at least on a night still. Am fit to scream some nights.

Have been up every hour with one of the boys since 10pm. Driving back to Norfolk today, not sure how.

YBR · 18/04/2012 06:36

.. we're on the "make up bottles in advance and keep them in the fridge. At night we boil the kettle, put the bottle in a small bowl and add hot water. Then change LO's nappy and it's hot once that's done.

aethelfleda · 18/04/2012 06:38

.

Had meal out, DS took a bottle of EBM from DH with much grumbling, got home, top up feed then went to bed..dS then pulled his variable puke manouvere from 3 onwards (the one where trying to put him horizontal or back in basket triggers gurgles, cough and if not sar bolt poright, a puke. As he wouldn't then burp I had to prop him up with me.. And then ha fed hourly. At 4/5/6 (and is now back on ). Bleurgh.

Marking place with lots of sympathies fit the night brigade

neverenoughsleeportea · 18/04/2012 07:09

Did they all have a chat and plan this together? Seems like most people had rough nights.

OiMissus · 18/04/2012 07:19

It must be an 18wk growth spurt right? He practically sleep all day Sunday, but since then we've been on 2 hourly feeds day and night, and no sleep during the day.
Thanks for the pound shop idea. I've seen the weaning pots on mamas and papas, but am determined to not pay silly prices for something so simple! (I didn't look how much they were, though).
Phew! BJR glad it's a council tax thing that you've paid and just small stuff. Good luck.
...someone's mithering...

MissRee · 18/04/2012 07:34

Place marking!

I do love the pound shop... just try and avoid eye contact with the pikeys Grin

mopsytop · 18/04/2012 08:17

figgy, MissRee,cherry, ybr, I too make bottles up in advance and keep in fridge. I do this twice a day so they're not in for more than twelve hours. I make them w water over 70. The WHO says that for 'practical purposes' this is fine, although it advises making each up fresh. I like to interpret 'practical purposes' as not having a baby screeching the house down while I make and cool a bottle! I am lucky, minimopsy takes her bottle strAight from the fridge so I don't have to heat it (she also takes it lukewarm or warm, so I'm very luck really).

Sympathies to night brigade - hope you can snatch a cat nap today.

AWomanCalledHorse · 18/04/2012 09:07

MissRee, Grin I got chatted up in the Pound Shop last month..

Figgy, mopsy, Ybr etc, we make up feeds once a day, sometimes twice and leave them in the fridge, he's stopped taking them cold so we ping them in the microwave for 20seconds.

Night Bridge

scooby, I bow to your awakeness, hope they sleep most of the way.

msbuggywinkle · 18/04/2012 09:09

Sympathy to the night shifters. May there be coffee, cake and sleep in your immediate future Grin

I've been awol due to DD2 being ill, nothing serious but she has been cuddly and sleepy. She slept from 5pm last night to 7.30 this morning!

for DD1 who went to sleep before 9.30 last night! The new plan is working!!!!

oi I think Miri is growth spurting, but she does milk every half hour during the day, then sleeps through. Sounds good, but feeding that much in the day time with the others is interesting!

KateM77 · 18/04/2012 09:37

Oi Tesco do some good little pots with lids too. You get a tray of 8. They're a good size for fruit and veg purees when first weaning, and I now use them to store portions of pasta sauce for DD. I'm the same with weaning and stick to home made batches of food rather than anything processed and sugary. I got the Annabel Karmel baby and toddler meal planner book and found it really good. I didn't have a clue about how many solid meals a day they should be on and when etc. so found the planners a really good guide (although I didn't stick to them too rigidly). There are some really good recipes in there too.

DS has me slightly stunned at the moment because he's slept through from 7.45pm - 6 or 7am for the last 3 nights. No doubt he'll switch it up again tonight! Ironically I've got less sleep than when he was waking at 3ish for a feed, because I keep waking at about 4 and not being able to get back to sleep due to sore boobs. Not that I have any right to complain - sympathies to the night brigade

OiMissus · 18/04/2012 09:39

We've just had our 3rd set of jabs. He cried for 20 seconds then was fine. He's asleep now... Oh no. Just woke, may have heard a squeezing sound, could be a nappy. I need to feed him and get my arse in gear. Busy day ahead!

NorthernChinchilla · 18/04/2012 10:41

Thanks for all the tips and info folk, that's great. I'll look at the Avent digital thingy seven, as DP is one for gadgets as opposed to any free low tech solutions Grin! Which one did you have figgy that over-boiled stuff?! As long as it's all sterilised, and made up correctly, storing in the fridge is fine, and it is simply not practical to do it any other way.

DS cheerfully glugged his room temp carton milk last night, so it's definitely the heating issue. I'll get a few more cartons for me this week, and get the heater ordered.

I managed last night to go from his night feed at half 10, to his morning feed at seven, without my boobs exploding!

They just leaked all over the bed instead Sad.

After his half ten feed, he also woke me at half one (dummy), half three (feed) half five (half a sodding hour of playing ping the dummy) and then seven. We also had a hilarious interlude at about 4 where his dummy could not be found, as he'd ping'd it off into the unknown. One frantic rummage and a trip downstairs to get his other one later, I located the damn thing wedged right under him....

Lots on today, so better shift my arse from in front of Homes Under the Hammer...

msbuggywinkle · 18/04/2012 11:12

Miri's new nappy wraps arrived...they are fabulous. If anyone needs any, I really recommend them Nature babies multiwrap

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 18/04/2012 11:22

Well this morning was eventful. Sky slept well last night woke once at 1:30 and then till 7am.

Darcie had her CAMHs appt this morning was very enlightening about myself tbh and she's been referred to the Primary Mental Health Team - He said quite a few very bright children behave in the way she does. Also gave us ideas on what we can do until appt comes in.

teary and tired now tbh. However, looking forward to my weaning class this afternoon Smile and my Annabel Karmel book arrived this morning so will make good reading later.

Will nip into pound land & get some of those trays so thanks for the heads up.

Feel really shitty about myself right now Sad

BeeMyBaby · 18/04/2012 11:46

Had our weaning talk yesterday and definitely made me want to hold off till 6 months as I really can't bare all the purees again - I had to home make almost everything to be sure it was halal (although bought those plum fruit squeezey tubes) and the HV said it was fine to introduce things like cumin and coriander from early on, so it shouldn't be too hard to fit in with MILs cooking :D
