We don't even have weaning talks here

Rashkakeller · 08/05/2012 11:43

People can be such arses, Seven. I'm not against abortion personally, unless its used as a form of contraceptive but to discuss it in such a way, after the fact is unforgivable.

Sitting in my car, waiting for our swim slot - parking is awful round here so get here early!

Sorelip · 08/05/2012 13:39

DS seems to be changing his routine - again. He wouldn't take enough milk yesterday so I tried some baby rice which he liked, and a little milk after. He woke up at 4am demanding more milk. His weight isn't quite following the centile, so I am now going to try introducing food again.

Seven I'm surprised your DP didn't punch that stupid fuckhead in the face.

I just heard DH growling and swearing, I thought he'd hurt himself. I go out to the kitchen, and what do I find? Him trying to open a can, and DS laughing his head off.

BeeMyBaby · 08/05/2012 13:56

Re:thread title, love the fish one but not keen on the Bob one... sorry I am a massive stick in the mud and I think I'm going a bit weird with it all, even asked DH to try grow a beard and have been feeling guilty that I didn't shave DD2s beautiful hair off. Seems Catholic guilt and the massive number of Islamic rules don't mix well.

Handy hint: Don't let your LO gently suck on your chin as it WILL turn into a hiccy

aethelfleda · 08/05/2012 14:10

Shock Wow seven, that's a shocking thing for someone to say. I must admit when we had the nuchal fold screening done antenatally it reminded me that some people choose termination for Downs, spina bifida and other stuff that, while life-changing, doesn't preclude the child from having life with a loving family. It is so individual and impossible to judge, but what they said was unbelievably rude. Boo to unbelievable rudeness!!

Sounds like we have a fishy theme then...

And I am pleased to report a breakthrough in the Saga of the unfragranced bags. Verily Mr Waitrose had some. I bet the ten packs I ordered online all come tomorrow.

aethelfleda · 08/05/2012 14:13

Ps Bee, no apologising! This thread is for all of us and I'd no more insult your religion than I would poke at someone for their class, colour, feeding choices or which footy team they support. though I am to be pitied for my DH supports Cambridge United and lo, they are quite rubbish

seven77 · 08/05/2012 14:18

He was a customer while DH was working, otherwise he probably would have been punched. He's a stupid old opinionated arse, he also complained when they put up a breastfeeding welcome sign in the library and he and he looks down his nose at absolutely everyone. People are entitled to their opinions, it's only when they feel the need to share them that it bothers me.

:o at hiccy face!

seven77 · 08/05/2012 14:21

How about 'mark your plaices, we've a new thread and fresh supply of '

AWomanCalledHorse · 08/05/2012 14:31

Seven, what an utter arsehole. Like your thread title suggestion.

Bee, no need to apologise. I'm going through religious guilt atm too with DS, no idea what to do when he gets older!

aethel, good to hear of a local supporter. DH never liked football, got into it with me..and instead of going for his local grassroots club (who are quite good) he went for Arsenal. The plastic big 4 fool!

Kitty5824 · 08/05/2012 14:32

aethel I raise you one Kettering Town FC! Cambridge beat us 2-0 last month, and we have now been relegated to Blue Square North. Assuming that the club survives it's financial "issues"

We also had poomageden this morning, followed by a much more succesful swimming lesson this week. Squeels of excitement rather than screeches of displeasure.

Off to bake myself a cake....today is my last day of being 33. DH tells me this means I am no longer in my early thirties. It's Mid thirties now apparently. Ah well, come september he'll be 37 and my reckoning that's late thirties Wink

Rashkakeller · 08/05/2012 14:40

As a mid to late thirtier (if it's not a word, it should be), you are a mere spring chicken, Kitty! Happy Birthday for tomorrow :)

Sorelip · 08/05/2012 15:08

Oh bob, shit everywhere. Absolutely everywhere, including on my jumper, jeans, and DH.

OiMissus · 08/05/2012 15:41

Where to start?! Ok love the thread title - tee hee aethel re: marking one's plaice.
rashka well Envy at facial and party planning - sounds like fun (ha ha ha! accidentally typed "fin" - fish on the brain.)
dsm I can tell you are a woman who likes lists. Me too. I always have a "To Do" list, and, if I do something that wasn't on the list, I then add it to the list just so I can cross it out as Done. Grin
I understand your kitchen envy hlc, I have the opposite going on here in this shitty rented house. Ever since being here I have been more inclined to buy packaged food and microwaveable stuff. :( This too shall pass one day when I have my own house!)
Beemybaby hicky! ha ha! BOi also does this to me, but his suction is so strong it's like my jaw is stuck to a giant wet hoover. Tis v funny when you go in for a cuddle and get attacked by the sucky sea creature.
I'm Bolton Wanderers, fighting relegation from the premiership, DH is Stockport, fighting bankruptcy and disappearing altogether. So we both sway towards Sir Alex's red lot.
kitty happy birthday for tomorrow. And whilst you have my sympathies moving towards your midthirties, I again raise you as I shall be entering my 40s later this year. Sad
seven I laughed out loud at Sorelip's response, and quite agree with her. I know nothing about MD, but can only wish you the very best of luck and also hope that as you wish, cures and treatments will improve in the coming years. Due to my age, I expected to be advised to have the amnio test (for Downs, etc) after the nuchal fold screening. We decided that whatever the advice was, we would not have any tests that would endanger the baby, as like you, no matter what the tests would reveal, we would not have aborted the pregnancy. (as someone else said, I have nothing against abortion, per se, it's just not for me as I've always wanted kids and I wouldn't be able to handle the post-abortion-mental-torture that I'd put myself through.
As for me, work is going very well today. BOi is at nursery and I'm trying to stay for a full day today. The last 2 TuesdaysI've ran out of the office at 4 to go and collect him as I couldn't bear it any longer! :)
(monster post!)

OiMissus · 08/05/2012 15:44

Sssh anyway! - I'm trying to work!

LittleMissFlustered · 08/05/2012 16:12

Figgygal · 08/05/2012 16:16

Ok I raise you a forest green rovers fc DHs favourite team who are in the conference/blue square premier.

Lo was 19lb 15oz still bang on the 98th centile so I didn't bother actually talking to hv after he'd been weighed.

As for no longer being in early 30s I was saying I was in my mid to late 20s when I was 28 now that I'm 31 I've decided not to age anymore it's just too much effort Grin

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 08/05/2012 16:28

Seven Shock about that fella!

Kitty Happy Birthday for tomorrow.

Aethel Grin @ Marking ones plaice

Oi I need lists or I don't function well lol!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 08/05/2012 16:30

Bee Pmsl @ chin hiccy Smile

Figgy I see DS is weighing in nicely.

I can't really raise you with Portsmouth FC as let's face it they will be liquidated in the summer!

OiMissus · 08/05/2012 17:57

I knew I should've left early! I arrived at the nursery at 5 to find a v upset BOi. He had v red eyes from crying, he'd barely slept all day, and had only had 8 oz since 8am (he had a short feed at 8 when I dropped him off). Poor baby.
Luckily, after a few rounds of Old MacDonald, Twinkle Twinkle and Wiggley Woo, he slept in the car. We're now having a feed on the sofa watching the end of Pointless.
Question: does your LO instinctively wake up, in the car, crying 1m from home?

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 08/05/2012 18:28

Checking in from my new IPhone - downloaded MN first Grin

BJR · 08/05/2012 18:44

So after a few weeks of colds and spots (not chicken pox it turned but an allergic reaction with rash that looked like chicken pox before they blister) LO finally seems to be a bit healthier :) He has mastered the art of sitting up and is very pleased with himself. Can usually manage about a minute before he falls on his face!

Went to a post-natal group today and most of the other babies were around the 10-12 week mark. I don't think i'd realised quite how much he'd grown, he seemed giant and very active in comparison, was quite funny to see. We were supposed to be doing baby massage but he kept rolling away!

Sounds like lots of you are having a fair bit of success with weaning, i'd been tempted to try but given his recent allergic reactions i'm going to try to hold off untill 6 months.

AnAirOfHope · 08/05/2012 19:06

On the weaning front apple is a go she loves it and i have given her ellas kitchen frist taset apple and she is ok with it. Today was the second day of sweet potato and she is not so taken with it but no allergic reaction yet.

She is.doing a cataerpiller crawl forward lift bum head down and pushes forward lol

i think she might be having a growth surt cos she is getting heavy. Its weighing on thursday and i so hope she has put lots of weight on.

Also i just cant find the time to ecpress with hope with me all the time and air i just dont get chance.

KateM77 · 08/05/2012 19:16

BJR pleased to hear LO is on the mend now. I'm holding off on weaning for now too. DS is doing fine just on the boob juice at the moment so I'm in no rush, and I'm going to tackle trying to introduce formula and bottles first. It wasn't until Rash mentioned holiday earlier that I realised we're going away at the end of the month too, and it would be easiest all round if we wait until after that! He'll be about 24 weeks then, which is about when I started weaning DD.

Another list lover here. It's so satisfying being able to cross things off.

So glad I made the most of the weather and got out for a couple of walks today, the forecast looks shite again from tomorrow onwards. Had a lovely peaceful stroll round Salcey forest this afternoon, then sat in the sunshine drinking coffee and eating lemon drizzle cake at the forest cafe whilst DS sat in the buggy giving me beaming post-nap smiles. Perfect Grin

Figgygal · 08/05/2012 19:44

Poor boi hope he's better now you've got him home.

On allergies from food what do you look out for? Lo still not refused anything think mango actually was his fave so far but it went absolutely everywhere . I'm also buying Ella's kitchen fruit first tastes though spent an hour this afternoon pureeing carrot, broccoli and parsnips.

Rashkakeller · 08/05/2012 19:46

Another list lover, I can't function without them! I make lists of my lists when they get smaller :) I use 'errands' app on my iPod, you can make checklists so you can tick things off - highly satisfying!

Where you off to, Kate? We're going to a caravan park on South Wales which I'm really looking forward to but hoping the weather is ok! There's a pool and a bar so pretty much sorted haha
