Gah I am in bed with a cold, had to cancel my night out plans and LO been asleep since half 7 so undoubtedly will be up in the night, we'd gone 2 wks with no night feeds but he's been falling asleep earlier the last 3 nights and so we have had wake ups...guess it's the warned off sleep regression Sad. Oh I also think I have thrush never had it before so not sure but lots of discharge going on .....sorry tmi.

Very proud mum today 1 minute he was lying on his playmat I turned around and next thing I knew he'd picked up a toy which was lying next to him and it was straight in the mouth, sure it was just a fluke but he has a singing cow which he seems to love (typically it's very loud , repetitive and annoying) and he tries to press the buttons so it'll sing/light up.

Right happy sleeping ladies good luck with any night feeds!!

seven77 · 09/03/2012 23:05

figgy sorry about the cold.

I've been up since 3.30 this morning. Now about to do a last feed then off to bed. Hope everyone gets some sleep.

Fancy seeing you here aethelfleda. Need a wee but stuck under ds.

Xiaoxiong · 10/03/2012 05:04

Hello

Have caught up as DS feeds away...very quiet from me recently because my appendicitis incision opened up again Sad 7 weeks after the op! GP says it's just one stitch at the end that keeps getting infected, probably because of my jeans waistband rubbing, and so back on more anti-bs and wearing dresses!

Anyway the less said about all that the better...At least DS is happy as a clam most of the time, he's moved up above the 99th centile line and growing out of his 6 month babygros Confused

I can't wait for term to be over, DH has had stuff till nearly midnight every night for weeks now...my mother wants us to come to the States as soon as possible (our plans to go to Beijing have to be postponed as my bro has a party to go to in India - nice life!) but DS is supposed to get his 3rd set of jabs on April 4th. aethel, hope you're asleep now but on the off chance you're still up, any downside to delaying the jabs to 6 weeks after the last set rather than 4 weeks? Would he be at serious risk of anything?

aethelfleda · 10/03/2012 06:27

Hiya guys- was asleep when you typed tyel, but up again now! What an arse about the wound but fingers crossed it sorts out now...

(puts pro vaccination hat on)
Delaying the duplicate abs by a week or teo is Fine as long as they get done. All repeat jabs do is reduce the likelyhood of infection by increasing the likelyhood the body will react if exposed. So one dose of MMR Delaying new jabs is riskier as there is no pre-exposure. Some of the anti-vaccination brigade seem to have moved on to advertising a trend of "delaying vaccinations" (no offence to honey who I kmow was condidering this). It has absolutely no benefit to the child and leaves them open to risk of infection. In our area in the last 2years we've had cases of measles, mumps, pertussis (whooping cough)....
the argument that babies "aren't ready' is flawed: The amount of antigen is tiny in a vacvine compared to everyday contaminents: when DC eats a worm/daddy's trainers there will be thousands of organisms on there...
Plus as msb has previously said, some people medically can't have jabs due to allergies/severe reactions and we protect them too. So a few weeks delay is fine, but do get em done!

aethelfleda · 10/03/2012 06:28

Ps I know *hawthers. one day I'll leave my phone downstairs and you lot will have Lassie and a SWAT TEAM out within 24 hours...

aethelfleda · 10/03/2012 06:33

Sorry : incomplete sentence there: MMR gives 95% protection from measles from one dose and 99% protection after teo doses. The mumps component gives 65% protection from one dose and 95+% protection after two.

YBR · 10/03/2012 07:21

LO came out to music practice with us last night which resulted in an extra feed at 11pm. She's not woken yet! Now to get that sleep pattern on repeat ... Hmm

aethel thanks for the vaccination info, (even though I didn't ask) we want to delay BabyYBR's 4 month jabs so they're not immediately after her op, the idea being about a 6 week interval instead of 4 weeks. They ask for no jabs within a month before the op, and I think she'd better have a chance to recover after it before the next lot.

MissRee · 10/03/2012 09:00

Just a quick note on the pro/anti vaccine subject...

Me and my sister couldn't have the whooping cough vaccine due to some doubts over whether it was safe as my mum has epilepsy (not unsafe in general, we would have been vaccinated had there not been doubts with mums epilepsy).

Anyhoo, both my sister and I contracted whooping cough, my sister much much worse than me. As a result, my sisters lungs were damaged and even to this day (32 years on) she suffers with chest problems, asthma and contracts every virus going! The only side effect I have is yucky stained teeth from the medicine we had to take!

Freya will be getting ALL vaccinations as contracting the illness is more than likely going to be much worse for her than possibly having side effects to the vaccination...

Just my 2p Grin

BeeMyBaby · 10/03/2012 09:35

missree I think it was due to the whopping cough vaccination at the time, apparently parents were reporting their children were getting epilepsy after getting the vaccine (perhaps like parents reported their children having autism after the mmr scare) - so although there is no history of epilepsy in our family, my mother didn't get us the vaccine (4 children) and neither did my aunt (4 children) - my cousin was given whooping cough vaccine without her consent, but got it anyway so aethals % explanation helps explain that for me. Just wanted to add my tiny knowledge of history, rather than anything to the actual debate.

BeeMyBaby · 10/03/2012 09:36

and like missree my DDs get all vaccinations advised.

HoneyLovesCake · 10/03/2012 09:56

No offence taken aethel Grin Each to their own I say & this is one debate I won't be getting into as I know that it's a touchy subject for some. For the record though I am absolutely not anti vaccine...I'm just pro researching all the options myself.

Had a rubbish night as DS woke crying every couple of hours...a first for me as even on a night when he's nursing heavily I rarely hear a peep out of him; I still haven't worked out what was wrong. :(

HoneyLovesCake · 10/03/2012 10:02

You're right bee but they've changed the whooping cough vaccine since (from whole cell to acellular) to reduce reported adverse effects.

HoneyLovesCake · 10/03/2012 10:04

So, have we come up with any new thread names yet?

seven77 · 10/03/2012 10:55

No ideas on thread names but it needs to be something positive. I'm sure I'm not the only one who still keeps thinking 'this too shall pass'. Unless anyone has any other witty ideas?

It's a beautiful sunny day here, I've just emptied the rest of the first compost bin onto the garden. Off to my parents this afternoon. Hope you're all having a lovely weekend.

Mine also get all vaccinations going, we've recently had an outbreak of measles in the area.

How about "smiles and giggles and coffee and truffles"? All the things I'm enjoying at the minute....

Or "Spring has Sprung, the grass is Riz" (it's a Spike Milligan poem)

hawthers · 10/03/2012 16:14

aethelfleda I wonder where dem babies is....

Ds has started doing shorter feeds although still seems full and content. Is this normal for a 10 week old? Hopefully it just means he has got better at bfing and not that there is anything else up.

seven77 · 10/03/2012 18:12

Argh, I've had such a bad afternoon. DS was a little shit monkey at my parents house, he's normally so well behaved. He kept pressing buttons on my mums laptop after being told not to and getting off the naughty step and laughing. darcies you deserve a medal, it's so difficult not getting cross when they're naughty. Eva also had a poo explosion (most unlike her) out of her nappy leg when DS was in naughty mode.

To top it off neither of the pharmacies had dentinox and I've run out so hopefully Eva will be ok without it.

OP posts:
aethelfleda · 10/03/2012 19:36

figgy has your itchy thrush gone? If not, get to the pharmacist for some canesten combi (pessary plus cream) as that's easy to use and you can always get a fluconazole tablet if the local treatment doesn't work.

Sympathy seven there's nothing worse than a cranky DC1 with a tired/explodey DC2. When I had the DDs, we had an evening "special" called "wailing in stereo" where DD2 would be grumping and wailing on one knee and DD1 would be stropping and wailing on the other. Sometimes I would join in to make it a Surround Sound presentation.... It does get better!

Hope you're doing OK tyel

Has anyone heard from LMF yet: is she on the FB group?

Hawthers, yep, its totally normal for feeds to shorten ( they don't always) as baby gets more efficient at milking your boob. If you express you may notice the volume increasing too.

honey, how's Rocco doing-is he more settled now? It's weird when they randomly get the hump, hope he's OK!

Ooh, go me, an epic post. May change my name to pluthelfleda....

OiMissus · 10/03/2012 20:19

I second the "smiles and giggles..." happy thread name, aethel.

AnAirOfHope · 10/03/2012 20:39

Oh dear i forgot how hard this phase is, Hope is trying her best to turn over and almost managed it 3 times on her own today. She has been praticing in her cot, on the floor, in her bouncy chair (not sure if its safe any more). in her car seat (she was lifting her head up) and when on the mat being changed and creamed up.

She crys in frustration when she cant get it, so i roll her over and then she rolls back her self and trys to roll on her tummy again and then sometimes makes it (big smile from her then follows Grin) or more crying in frustration if she cant get it cos her arm is in the way or her leg isn't over far enough!

We went out to TGI Fridays and meet some old friends we haven't seen in 4 years. They have a little girl who is only 21 weeks. I was so shocked to see how big she was compared to Hope, who looks like a newborn Sad Hope was so tiny compared to Leah it really brought home just how small Hope is. All when i told them her name they said "So you watch Corri and Gavin and Stacey then?" me "No, why - we only watch cartoons now?" Hope is the baby in corri and Brynn is the baby in Gavin and stacey - So i have a tv baby Sad. I had to explaine that i'm Welsh and like Brynn and Hope was from the pandore myth and in relation to my PND with Aaron.

The food was good thou and the children were well behavioued.
