Ooh and thanks for asking northern, the grumps seem to be improving a bit: though it's his first lot of jabs tomorrow so things may well go up the Swanee...

Cheers for the solidarity too, honey, I am well reconciled to the facts that the babies don't read the books and so DS has no concept of the recommended number/duration of growth spurts. It's a question of get on with it and juggle around what needs to be done versus what can be got away with. i've de-arranged a few things we had planned to give myself more leeway for the next few days just in case I keep being a human milk machine and not much else....

Arg, should be sleeping by now! Someone please whack me
over the head with a sedating fish of some kind....

MissRee · 06/03/2012 22:02

Aethel I'm chuckling at the extra padding in the Santa suit!!! How exciting to think that our babies will be old enough to get involved at Christmas tho - it will be Freya's first Christmas too!

I'm off up to London tomorrow to visit work but I'm being a total wuss and taking my mum with me!!! I did contemplate taking her in tee slung but figure I'll need somewhere to lay her down.

First jabs on Friday... eeek! Sad

Saturday we have the first in Freya's "Baby's first year" photoshoots! It was a gift from my parents Grin

MissRee · 06/03/2012 22:02

Tee slung??? I meant the sling!!

MissRee · 06/03/2012 22:17

Freya has slept from 9.30-6.30 for the last 3 nights Grin

Kitty5824 · 06/03/2012 23:11

ow ow ow, why after 10+ weeks have I suddenly got a cracked nipple Confused

As always I have left way too much time between posts to comment on anything specific, but have been sending supportive/sympathetic/encouraging vibes to everyone, and snorting with laughter mostly when appropriate.

Envy at some of the impressive sleep times and weight gains.

Shock at how many chores some of you fit in...feeling very inadequate and realising my ebay addiction eats up almost as much time as mumsnet

mopsytop · 07/03/2012 05:44

Minimopsy just drank her bottle way too fast and projectile vommed all over me ! Yum!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 07/03/2012 06:40

Morning Ladies.

Hope some of you got some sleep.

I've got my GP appt this morning and then a friend over for lunch.

Haven't got a clue what to say to the doc either. [sad

aethelfleda · 07/03/2012 07:48

dsm just start with "Hi. I'm finding things quite tough at the moment..."

Then the GP will look sympathetic and I expect it will all come out from there. It's the sympathetic/kindly look that generally unstoppers people. Good luck hon (((((hug)))))

OiMissus · 07/03/2012 07:59

My meeting starts today at lunch until Friday lunch. I have been trying to express (in between feeds) so that we can stick to breastmilk. There's enough for this afternoon's and tomorrow mornkng's feeds, possibly. And I'll feed him when I get home, but then I'll be joining them in the evenings too. It's goingvto be tough finding time to express during the day to get us through til Friday. I've bought some of the Aptamil cartons as back up. I'm a bit worried that, when breastfeeding has been going so well, I'm messing up the supply. I'm sure it'll be alright, but we may be growth-spurting, after a feed at 9:30pm, he woke at 00:30, 02:15, 05:15 and 07:30. (maybe my expressing has meant there's been less for him) he wouldn't be satisfied with a dummy.
(yawn!)
I'd better get up and get ready.

mopsytop · 07/03/2012 09:18

Morning! Good luck at doctors, dsm, hope is helpful and good luck with work/expressing etc.,oi and congrats on bonus yay!

After projectile vomiting all over me and her at 5:30 am necessitating an entire change of clothes for both of us, minimopsy then did a poosplosion all through her clothes, cue another entire change (and a bit of gagging!). Lucky she is so so cute, I can forgive her anything !!!

Had lovely date with husband. Nurofen plus is magic. Only had to take it twice in 24 hrs to keep the toothache at bay. Not looking forward to dentist later though !

Have a good day y'all.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 07/03/2012 09:20

Thanks Aethel

Seen my GP who is lovely. I walked in and before I said anything he knew something was wrong, as i'm normally a strong and upbeat person. He sat me down, then I started to cry and he gave me a hug. Told me i'm a brilliant mother and I shouldn't think otherwise even tho he knows how much homelife is a struggle at the moment. I said I feel like a failure of a mum because I don't know why Darcie is doing it and I can't fix it so I have my happy little girl back. Told him all the things DP says too after an argument erupts and he said that he was being very harsh & unfair. He will ring CAMHS and try and get an appt asap and that to keep going as he knows how strong I am and that it will all get better and he's there if I need him.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 07/03/2012 09:23

Mopsy Good Luck at dentist.

Oi Hope your meeting and expressing goes okay. Well Done on bonus.

I'm making a cottage pie for dinner today, have to go and get sum veg tho.

NorthernChinchilla · 07/03/2012 09:40

Wonderful start to the day- not really DP's fault, but he always leaves the milk out on the side. I caught it with my elbow and so we have milk and broken glass all over the kitchen floor. So sweeping, hoovering and washing the floor is added to jobs list today!
Sewing and nails are the other jobs; a quiet one today, as it's piddling it down.

So glad you've got chubby thighs hawthers (aaargh, that's badly phrased! I'm glad that your DS has chubby thighs) they're the best! DP and I spend a little time just squidging DS each evening, cos it's so yummy Blush, ahem....

Glad grumps are improving aethel- maybe you'll be lucky like me and DS will just sleep for 24 hours post-jabs.

MissRee, you were obviously not sacrificing enough chickens to the sleeping Gods Wink. I'm sure Freya will get back on track.

Ow at the nipple Kitty, that's so unlucky.

I bet your washing machine is working overtime mopsy, that all sounds a little grim. We've found the Pampers 'activefit' as opposed to the 'newborn' fits (same size, no.3) much better at containing poosplosions.

Glad your GP has been good DSM, it sounds like life is getting a wee bit better.

Off to scrub the kitchen floor!

KateM77 · 07/03/2012 10:15

figgy It must be something in the name Daniel James...they're big boys Grin

DSM pleased to hear it went well at GP

mopsy good luck at the dentist, hope it's not too painful

MissRee glad the new travel system is so good. I couldn't do without autobase. Sorry about the sleeping...I always find DS hears me too if I brag about mention how much sleep he's been letting me have

Oi congrats on the bonus. Mine was more than I was expecting too, it's great when that happens. Enjoy the househunting...maybe that play patio will be yours after all Wink

msbuggywinkle · 07/03/2012 10:19

Morning!

kitty it seems to happen fairly often as babies get older, you get more casual about latching them on and don't notice a not-quite-right latch. Back to basics with the latch and you'll be fine in a day or two.

dsm hope the GP visit made you feel better and gives you a boost.

mopsy joy! I think babies enjoy making washing.

aethel you might find that Ali reverse cycles and feeds all night while you are working. It is very sensible of babies really, but bloody tiring!

Thus far today I have done the washing, tidied and hoovered the living room. Having a pint of water now then running to the shops for milk. My doula and her scrummy baby coming round for coffee later on, DD2 is pleased as she loves the baby!

DD1 is very excited as she has cut her first permanent molar! No wobbly ones yet but I don't imagine it will be long.

scoobyd00 · 07/03/2012 10:21

Morning all. I'm v excited. My parents are here to look after the boys whilst DH and I go away for 2 nights! I can't wait to have N uninterrupted nights sleep and a lie in. Boobs might wake me up so will have to express lots! DH goes away for 3 months soon so it's my little bit of respite before the really hard work starts. It was DS1s 2nd b'day yesterday so he's got lots of new toys to keep him occupied and the fridge/freezer is stocked with milk for DS2. Fingers crossed they'll behave for my parents.

DSM really pleased your GP is so supportive. Fingers crossed the referral can be hastened.

oi hope your meeting goes well and there's no embarrassing milk
leakage!

nothern what a rubbish start to your morning. Hope it picks up from here.

KateM77 · 07/03/2012 10:26

Scooby enjoy your time away. That sounds amazing and just what you need to prepare you for 3 months on your own Smile

Kitty5824 · 07/03/2012 11:12

Determined Thinking of you this morning, as aethel said and you clearly found out it?s getting the first sentence out that?s the hardest. Once you start talking the floodgates will open. I know that?s what happened to me after my Dad died and I realised on the way to work that I really wasn?t OK and maybe needed more that the 3 days off I?d allowed myself. Top tip, arriving at the GP surgery without an appointment having cycled there sobbing generally gets you seen pretty sharpish Grin Your GP sounds ace!

Mopsy goodluck at the dentist, fingers crossed it will be painless both to you and your purse.

Northern I feel your pain, I kicked over a full pint of squash last night all over the living room carpet just as I was going to bed at midnight Blush

mrsb using nipple shields, but have def noticed a somewhat more aggressive determined latch. Have dug out the lansinoh.

Scooby enjoy!

Kitty5824 · 07/03/2012 11:35

On a non-baby related note, does anyone else live with a hoarder? I?m starting to pack our stuff for the move down to Northants (DH got the job, we?ve found a house to rent, booked the van for Easter weekend etc) and am wondering if anyone else has 8 of these full of CD?s and DVD?s? Although to be fair I do have this configuration filled with books... maybe I need to stop moaning Confused

aethelfleda · 07/03/2012 11:45

We're hoarders and part of my mat leave job is trying to declutter a bit. I too had mad numbers of CD cases but downscaled to those pro-logic CD cases. Have hundreds of CDs, in recent years have eased off my purchases a lot. Also have a LP and audio tape collection plus the stuff to play it on.

Well done dsm you clearly have a sound GP. Make sure you keep him updated from time to time.

oi good luck with the meeting, I'm sure baby will addapt OK

Nearly bailed On the jabs as we all have colds but DS was chirpy at the Gps (his feeding has settled a bit too) and didn't have a temp so we went ahead. Relatively quiet day today and have calpol at the ready for tonight....
