aethel Grin if it was just the CD/DVD/Book collection we?d be doomed. I haven?t even started on the football programmes, memorabilia, interior design magazine collections, almost complete set of Beano annuals, comic books, random bits of ?archaeology? (that?s rocks and shells to me!), the bottle collection (not the recycling Wink), the tea cup/saucer/plate collection.....I?m still just in the spare room here.....

Kitty5824 · 07/03/2012 12:30

just realised I'm going to be raising my son in a curio shop!

Figgygal · 07/03/2012 13:16

Oh dear dh was cutting lo nails this morning while i fed him as he usually balls them up into a fist if awake and flails them about if hes asleep and hes caught the skin on one of them. I was starting to panic as there was blood all over his hands Sad have had a look and hes taken a good chunk out of his skin have cleaned it up and put a scratch mitt over it to stop him sucking on it. Its meant his feeding is all over the place, he hasn't slept much and we have our first music with mummy at 2.15 i foresee disaster!!

Im starting to think about keep in touch days with work have to confess am sort of missing it the last few days.....what is wrong with me!!!

NorthernChinchilla · 07/03/2012 13:46

Kitty - YES YES YES YES YES YES, aaaaaaaaargh, YES.

It was wonderful when we moved house, as I could chuck bin bags full of crap away; same when I was pregnant, as we had to get rid of/move about loads of things to make way for LO.

And it's random crap too- for example, I ordered a toy plane for my DBro's Xmas present. It came with bubble wrap, but there were only about 20 'bubbles', and they were massive and rectangular. DP insisted on keeping it, for what use I have no idea, and has only now conceded that it's useless and can be chucked.

His parents are INCREDIBLE hoarders, but have a house to do it in. But it's drum kits from when their 45 year old was a teen, five sets of golf clubs, entire skiing kits for the family, even though none of them have skied in the past 15 years.... And they try to give DP stuff, which I have now banned- we had a massive fishtank and cupboard hanging around the house for a year.

Can you tell this gets to me Confused?!?

Kitchen floor now sparkles, and will do sewing this afternoon.

Sorry about the fingers figgy, my DP is too scared to do it for that reason. Bet it made you feel awful! Hope the music thing goes OK...

aethelfleda · 07/03/2012 14:28

Am making good progress on santa's stuffing!!

DS is OK but a bit cranky, punctuated by the occasional dazzling smile when he forgets his legs ache. I have decided to take the shove-full-of-calpol approach. Got him weighed while at the GPs; it was quite funny: the health visitors have a "self weigh" faciliy but you have to be "trained" to use it. I was very naughty and just popped him on as they were busy. Got caught doing it and they decided to "train me" so it would be official like. I did explain nicely that I often weigh babies at work and can use scales but they said ooh, they'd have to show me, forms and procedures must be followed and all that. I tried to keep a straight face, honest I did. They very solemnly showed me how to Turn It On. And Tare It To Zero. And How to Place Baby on it. Consider me now trained!!

The upshot is that DS is gaining nicely along the 25th centile (as I thought he might: 9 weeks and 11 lb 11. Lovely.

NorthernChinchilla · 07/03/2012 16:29

Did you get a certificate too aethel, to prove your Trained-ness?!
I think the shove-full approach is sensible, can't do any harm and if his legs hurt then he needs it; hope he's not too grumpy tonight.

It has been a grim day here weather wise- nipped round the corner for a paper but that's been it.

Right, I must do this sewing; another job I hate, but I've been meaning to do the PJs for about a year, and DP's shirt needs doing...

Hope everyone else has been out and had a more exciting time than me!

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 07/03/2012 19:46

Evening Ladies.

It has been a fantastically peaceful evening in the Terry household tonight. Darcie was brilliant when she got home from school. My mum took her to Rainbows for me and DP picked her up. She came home with a bad headache (she suffers migraines) so off to bed with calpol fast melt, cup of water and straight to sleep by 6:30 and not heard a peep from her. Sky has just drunk her bottle and is in her sleeping bag for the first time tonight and hopefully settles to sleep whilst I have a bath.

Hope everyone else's evening are going okay?

Can't stand hoarding if not been used in 3mths it goes in bin. DP had trouble with this when I first moved in as he is a hoarder but is used to it now!

hawthers · 07/03/2012 20:06

Weigh in was ok ish. Def enough to track the line and gain a little bitvbut not quite as much as last week but then I've had more sleep. Back to alarm setting I think for the next week.

Attempted to put ds2 to bed before ds1's bath but ds1 was very rowdy so it didn't work. DH now putting the if one to bed while I try putting the little one down. Hmmm don't think it is going to work.

hawthers · 07/03/2012 20:07

Glad you had a good day dsm

KateM77 · 07/03/2012 20:18

DSM so pleased to hear you've had a better time today.

Hawthers hope you manage to get both boys off to sleep between you.

Both my DC's are in bed and I'm just eating my dinner. DH out at a work quiz night tonight. I think I'm going to have a very early night tonight. Went swimming with DS this afternoon. He had a feed afterwards and then went to sleep at about 4.45. He stayed asleep throughout DD's bath and bedtime, which made for a lovely easy evening for me. I then woke him at 7 for another feed in the hope that he'd then stay awake for a bit, but he's gone spark out again. No idea what this means for the night ahead, hence the early night.

Hope you all had good days, and wishing you all a sleep-filled night ahead

Figgygal · 07/03/2012 21:08

Another yay to dsm from me!! Mopsy have you been to dentist yet?

Another unsettled night expected here after the trauma of nail cutting earlier and not a lot of naps today LO zonked out at 7 and has been asleep since. Sat here feeding him what I can only imagine what would be termed a dream feed as his eyes are very shut and he's snoring away on the bottle. He's dropped a feed today and had an extra 2 hrs sleep so not looking good for another all nighter but hey he might surprise us Confused

Figgygal · 07/03/2012 21:16

Oh and meant to ask is anyone finding they don't need to wind Lo's as much? I used to spend ages trying to get a belch or as soon as he was flat him and bedding would be barfed on but now it doesn't seem to be a problem? I guess his tummy is bigger to take the feeds and his body just generally developing??

Kri5ty · 07/03/2012 21:22

pops head in sheepishly

Hello... I have been scared to come back on, as i know i won't be able to catch up on posts!! lol

Ooo figgy yes, i used to have to wind after every ounce, now he screams the place down if i attempt to take it away to wind him... prob just do it halfway through bottle now, and once at the end. But a lot of the time he only brings one burp up!

Kri5ty · 07/03/2012 21:25

News update...

Wrigglebum is now sleeping in his big boy cot in his own room :) last night he just woke at 5.30 am-6.30 am, then slept until 7.15

And... i think we are mad... but we are buying a house! Major stress coming on i feel!

Kri5ty · 07/03/2012 21:29

pps kitty yup a hoarder lives here too... i'm throwing cds out week by week, as he wont notice muhahaha and also it means less to pack :o

Kitty5824 · 07/03/2012 21:44

Oooh I love spending other people?s money helping with house hunting. So that?s oi kri5ty and was there someone else?
What area/how many bedrooms? Here is the house we wanted to rent in Kettering. It?s gone, so this is the one we?ve put the deposit on. My poor Mum has been doing the viewings for us. She?s now bricking it in case I hate it Grin

MissRee · 07/03/2012 21:54

We need to move eventually Kitty but it's on hold until I'm back at work (full time Sad). Hopefully we will have made a nice chunk of profit on this flat tho - the downstairs sold for £15k more than we paid for ours but theirs is only 1 bed and is a right mess. We've done some decorating to ours too and installed central heating (downstairs is still without)!

We had a lovely day going up into London to visit work - everyone was cooing over her and saying how contented and gorgeous she is Buggy was fab too!

We now have an overtired little lady (trains are fascinating apparently) who has just projectiles her last bottle sigh

Does anyone believe in mediums etc? My mum visited one last night who told her that her grandchild will be very creative/artistic and also very studious! Kind of makes sense - my MIL and BIL are very creative and BIL is an incredible artist. DP is also massively intelligent and took A-levels at 14. I keep telling him he should go on the Chase and win us loads of money as he seems to take in and store masses of useless information Grin

MissRee · 07/03/2012 21:57

Oh and Figgy as much as I enjoyed showing Freya off at work today, it also reminded me how much I HATE commuting, office politics and working such long hours! The only thing I sort of miss is the routine of work but I'm doing quite well at getting us both up, dressed, bottles made and house tidied before lunch so we can go out/chill in the afternoon Grin

bennybenbear · 07/03/2012 22:49

Just a quick hello all. I've been trying to keep up but have stopped reading and posting as my tendonitis in my wrists has got worse not helped by falling over! I think the one handed iPhone updates don't help so decided to try and wean myself off it. Will check in regularly just not as often.
Sending lots of good feeding and sleeping Vibes to all!

hawthers · 07/03/2012 23:01

Totally failed to get ds2 to sleep earlier on and ditched trying to as needed to make dinner. Obv he then fell asleep in the nice noisy kitchen.

No idea how i'll ever get him to sleep in his cot on my own with ds1 floating about.... Hmm a rethink is required.

Mmmmcheese · 07/03/2012 23:24

DD still not going to sleep until 10 or 11pm. No idea how to get her to go down earlier. Hopefully it will just happen in its own time.

aethelfleda · 08/03/2012 02:26

Hi kri5ty and Benny, nice to see you both and don't worry about the "keeping up" thing, yhis thread moves fast and do if you're away it gets mad: far easier to read the last few hours' worth and dive in. I'm currently "off" social media for Lent (apart from this thread!) and there is no WAY I'm going to have hours to sit down and catch up on my return!

aethelfleda · 08/03/2012 02:31

mmm does DD conk at any earlier point in the evening? May be worth changing/feeding/putting her down in dark room at 7/8pm and then going up to feed and put back down, repeat the comfirt/feed/putbackdown whenever she objects. (so not leaving to cry, but telling her it's nighttime..) Even if you're up there every 30 mins initially ahe might get nessage after a few days and start going down earlier?

mopsytop · 08/03/2012 03:42

Hi all! dsm, glad you'd a better day today.

Went to dentist butbhe couldn't see what was wrong and thinks cos I took nurofen plus it might have been masking sth so have to go back timo again after no painkillers for 24 hrs grrr! Have nasty feeling will need root canal :( but apart from dentist had lovely afternoon with my sister while our mum minded minimopsy.

mopsytop · 08/03/2012 03:46

P.s. After weeks of just grouching between six and nine but then sleeping apart from 11:30 and 3:30 feeds, minimopsy is now waking up a lot complaining-think is wind. Have to settle her at least every hour but it's not hunger. Is hard after i got used to my two stretches of three and a half hours. Is this the sleep regression some of you were mentioning? She's 11.5 weeks ...
