Hope no one minds the title, just seemed daft to leave one post left on the old thread when I could use it to link here.

Marking place.
Hi all. We've had a chilled day today with some baby massage. LO gave me a lovely bday pressie of 8 hours last night! Just had a lovely tea cooked by DH which LO slept thru and allowed us to eat together. Happy birthday to me lol!

Mmmmcheese · 20/02/2012 18:31

Hmmm, I typed quite a long post this morning as I actually had time to respond to people individually but now can't see it so mumsnet must have swallowed it. Annoying!

YBR we are churchgoers too and lead a homegroup. It is very hard to find the time to prepare every week!

I have come to the conclusion that I need to make a start on losing the baby weight and stop putting more on I know that I just need to make a bit of effort to eat more fruit and veg and less chocolate/cake/biscuits/ice-cream. Oh and cheese!!! But its hard to be good when you are so sleep deprived and exhausted.

AnAirOfHope · 20/02/2012 18:32

Um ok not getting MAP as DH thinks the "Two we have now are great, so lets have one more!"

My response

Happy Birthday Benny Grin Thanks Brew

Marking place Grin

Freya gave us another long stretch last night - 9.30 until 5.15! Am going to
Continue putting her down at 9.30 for now so that she can go longer if she feels like it. It's very bright in our bedroom once the sun comes up and age won't go back to sleep once it's light, no matter how hard I try!!!

We had poomageddon and peegate this morning and had to change her twice before midday!!!! My washing machine is working overtime Grin I'm not sure how those of you using Terry nappies cope with washing those AND the million tiny outfits.

MissRee · 20/02/2012 18:48

Oh happy birthday Benny Grin

OiMissus · 20/02/2012 19:05

Happy Birthday benny!!! Grin
lmf your dinner sounds lovely but your thrush does not. Good luck with both!
hawthers you sound much happier - hurrah! But it's definitely the done thing to come on this thread to whinge/moan/grump/ask advice/seek solidarity/etc.. We all learn from each other's experiences and from the great advice that is given. Whinging is giving! We appreciate it.
We have also had poogate here today. Last week we used tesco's own size 3 nappies (excellent!). The last 2 days we have been using Huggies Naturals size 3. They are much smaller and every one has either leaked wee through the legs, or poop up the back. Laundry central. I've been out all day, luckily I had the 3 changes of clothes required, unluckily I've not had time to get to tesco's to get new nappies, or to get 3-6month vests. This weekend Ali decided to be too big for all his 0-3mth clothes very suddenly.
Right, better get orf and find something to warm up for dinner. :)

(went wedding cake shopping Grin with the niece today and SIL bought lunch. Grin)

Think I'm just resigned to mixed feeding now and if it knackers my supply there isn't really anything I can do. Just trying to figure out when to do formula. Want to stop having to worry about f's weight and hope this does it.

Kitty5824 · 20/02/2012 19:19

Happy Birthday Benny Wine

Poomageden and Peegate here also today. Some karma for me also after snorting with laughter at the earlier post about hand in poo (was that Easily?) as a hand and foot managed to reach the dirty nappy before I wrapped it up. Bleugh!

Currently listening to DH throwing up. No handover tonight by the looks of things. Sad

Kitty5824 · 20/02/2012 19:23

Hawthers, we have a formula feed in the evening (I'm usually reaching snapping point by about 1030pm after 4 or 5 hours of grizzling and more or less permanent attachment to boob.) I then go to bed and DH brings LO up when he comes to bed. Don't think it has affected supply, just means my boobs feel mahoosive by the time he wakes for the next feed at 3ish.

LittleMissFlustered · 20/02/2012 19:28

Kids fed and in bed. Cats fed and corralled. Bath running. If I were a drinker it would be wine o'clock. As it is, I'll have a cup of tea instead. Have a nice evening folks.

LittleMissFlustered · 20/02/2012 19:30

Oi I hve always found own brand nappies excellent once you're past sizes 1 & 2. Asda, Tesco and I think not was either Lidl or Aldi. All fab:)

NorthernChinchilla · 20/02/2012 19:33

We did mixed feeding, with one bottle, for about the first four weeks hawthers; actually, for the first couple of days it was two, as he was yelling and crying with hunger.

And although it was as at the time of day (10pm) and stage of breastfeeding (the beginning) that you're told not to, I moved to ebf once it was established, so it's not a given that it'll bugger your supply, especially if you're expressing.

I'm sure MsB can recommend the best time; and you can ask your friends at NCT when they top up.

Had such fun clearing the cat crap, crisp packets and other grimness from the front today, and God my tendonitis (sp?) is hurting tonight, bah!
Smile

mopsytop · 20/02/2012 19:51

Happy birthday benny!

Exhausted, think am going to hit the sack now already (it's not even 8pm!)-see some of you later on the night shift!

jigglebum · 20/02/2012 20:07

Evening ladies - managed to get two kids into bed on my own tonight and tidy the house and get my dinner before Freya was awake again wanting more food. I think it will be a while before she goes down in the evening as she tends to feed all evening.

We also mix feed and give a bottle anytime from 9pm now and she goes down for the night. On a good night I get till 4am, but the last couple of nights she has been back to 2ish and 4 ish but hardly feeds on the first feed so think she can drop it soon but it does mean my breasts are ready to explode by 4am!

I also give a bottle top up at some stage once in the day if she is wanting to feed all the time as it was doing my head in and it means I can spread the feeds out more and actually my supply is much better if I have 3 hour + gaps rather than 1hour or so. I was worried it would mean the end of bfing but it has actually helped me keep going as know I have a back up if she is feeding all the time. Freya is 10 weeks now and think her colic is getting a bit better - hurrah!

Regarding thrush I am still not sure if we Freya and I have cleared up yet. We had Nyastatin but not sure how effective it was.

We used Tesco own brand nappies after about size two and found them fine.

Jealous of the Manchester meet up. Dont suppose anyone is southwest direction (though cornwall might be a little far!) We are Dorset.

Coolhand · 20/02/2012 20:07

Hope you're in less pain soon Northern!

Happy Birthday Benny - hope you had a good one Thanks

Hawthers I'm really glad things are feeling a bit more positive for you.

LMF your dinner sounded delicious - v jealous.

All went well today and I am v Grin. While GP said she found one big lump and small lump in one breast and 'lots of lumps' in the other, I must just have lumpy breasts as it turned out to be one fluid-filled cyst in each breast which they drained there and then. While I was outwardly staying calm, realised I was worried as I felt really tired at the end of it all. Going to go to bed super early tonight although need to make a work call first.

I have been waking DS every night at 11 - last night I let him sleep to 1(largely because I slept through) and then he didn't wake again to 6. Tonight I'm just going to see how long he sleeps for - a little nervous as my friend who has one of similar age tried it and her DD decided to be awake from the middle of the night onwards! Think I'll give it a go anyway.

Hope all have good nights.

NorthernChinchilla · 20/02/2012 20:29

Cheers coolhand. However, not only am I in pain but LO is too- drooling massively and gumming everything in sight (that'll be my cardie, DP's shirt, DS' onesie and the sling for the wash then- can't do much about his fist).
As I can't hold him for too long he's in his Moby, and I am writing this one-handed, jiggling LO and with the laptop on the side in the kitchen.

Calpol has been administered and that and the jiggling means he's now dropping off on me.

Delighted it was just cysts, although it's a measure of the situation where having big needles stuck in to drain boob cysts is a top outcome- you definitely deserve a Wine before bed! Sleep well.

aethelfleda · 20/02/2012 20:45

Yay for simple cysts, coolhand, that's a relief.

misree, we're using cloth and to be honest i had more washing when we used disposables over the weekend when visiting SIL as the cloth ones tend to have less leaks (I use mostly two-part nappies so the poo has to get through both the shaped nappy and past the waterproof wrap as well. Some of the trimmer cloth ones are less poo-splosion proof so I use those later in the day when DS has already produced!)

Am a bit gutted cos I bought a large pack of number 2 nature Boy&girl for the weekend (and backup use) and had problems getting them to fit properly on DS: the shape seems to be a lot flatter than when I used them with the DDs. Need to experiment and hope I've not got 40 rubbish nappies!

seven77 · 20/02/2012 20:47

I won an Ellaroo wrap on eBay for £25!

coolhand so glad everything is ok.
northern sympathies, I get tendonitis too. Do you have a tubigrip you can use? I never tried using one until it flared up while I was pregnant so couldn't take ibuprofen, it worked wonders!
jigglebum glad that Freya's colic is improving, Eva improved massively once she reached 12 weeks. We're attempting dropping the dntinox this week to see what happens.

Must dash as tesco will be here soon and phone nearly out of battery. DH's birthday tomorrow so may not get much time to post.

Marking place !!!

Managed to spend £60 in the Disney shop today woops, think I was giddy at the fact LO wasn't screaming in his pushchair which had become a recent habit . Also more practically got started on 3-6 months clothes in boots as their clothes are all 3for2, not a great range but got started.

oh and work have agreed my pt working request for when I return in June so had a good day generally.

LO crying a lot tonight he's tired but refuses to sleep and just barfed down his daddy's chest am sure he'll pass out soon or maybe that's wishful thinking!!

EasilyBored · 20/02/2012 21:00

Happy birthday benny!

Yeah, the hand in poo was me. Well, not my hand, his hand. Thankfully.

So were on to the formula tonight, making it up is a bit of a faff but its worth it not ot have to be feeding him for 4 hours every evening. Currently DH is upstairs doing the feed and putting him to bed.

Feeling a bit blue today as DH has been asked to help on a project at work (great for him and his career) that means he's going to be mega busy and travelling a lot.

I find the nappy explosions quite funny still, but then we've only had it happen at home so far! Caspar did vom on my brand new coat earlier, and then on my friend's boob. He did it with a smile on his face though.
