Hi aethelfleda

Had been leaving it longer between feeds and ds seemed fine but if I leave him for too long overnight then he effectively misses out a feed which kind of deletes the whole issue. Have decided to wake ds every 3 hours for 3 nights, then every 4 hours on the fourth night. Should get a little extra sleep.

aethelfleda · 09/03/2012 02:22
mopsytop · 09/03/2012 02:47

Morning! Sounds like hard work, hawthers, hope things improve at some stage in the not too distant future.

Things sound like they're going better at the moment, dsm, hope it continues!!

Feeding minimopsy at weird time for us but she cried for so long and was clearly so exhausted that when she finally fell asleep at half ten I left her until she woke. Normally wake her at half eleven but she needed sleep so badly. This kind of puts our routine off a bit but hopefully can get back into it again.

hawthers · 09/03/2012 06:30

Oops slept through my last alarm so f woke me an hour later so at least I know he will wake for food...

Hope everyone had good nights. Anyone seen lmf recently?

aethelfleda · 09/03/2012 07:05

Hiya- no, not for a few days on thread: I did wonder if
octoboy had been taken in as he did have a dodgy cold when she was last posting.

We did rather well last night: DS woke for a monster feed from 1-2am but then settled and slept back in basket til 5.30. He usually goes snacky snacky after his longer conk out, so 5.5
Hours (for him, I got to bed at 9.30 so had 3,5 hours) followed by 3.5 hrs is fantastic. Go DS!!! The putting him down at 7.30-9pm when he conks thing is definitely helping me as i get an hour or two in the evening when I am baby free and have a free choice between relaxing, pootling or sleeping.

Better get up: job interview for DH today, I' ve got to catch up
With house stuff and tidy a bit as have friends of the DDs over for a play date later...

hawthers · 09/03/2012 08:34

We had a relatively good night. Ds went down at 8 ish then I woke him to feed at 11 and 2. I slept through the alarm at 5 and ds woke me at 6. For us that is pretty good.

Just reread my post from last night. Sorry for the rubbish - clearly I haven't been proof reading my posts. Must remember to do that.

msbuggywinkle · 09/03/2012 08:50

Serious bargain mopsy! I am impressed.

I just can't wake up this morning, I have had a pint of coffee but still feel wooly headed. More when if I wake up!

seven77 · 09/03/2012 09:07

Hello, I haven't been on since Tuesday, apologies for only skim-reading. But from what I read:
dsm I'm so pleased that darcies behaviour has started to improve, hopefully she'll continue to do so but don't be too disheartened if she regresses a little.

aethel the truffle recipe was pretty awesome, I'm currently wondering if white chocolate baileys truffles would work.

air the good thing is that she's still gaining, DS used to gain quite slowly, he was born on the 25th centile, he dropped to the 9th but followed it from there. I know DD was early but at 15 weeks (last week) she was 11lb 10oz. Most of that weight is her length though, she's incredibly long but very skinny. I agree thought to see GP if you're worried.

Hope lmf checks in soon.

We got the new car on Wednesday and it's sooo nice. Went shopping yesterday and got some new bras as I'm a size bigger than pre-pregnancy even though I'm not BFing, needless to say DH isn't complaining. We also bought a beautiful red fighting fish. Solar panels are going up today.

OP posts:
Mmmmcheese · 09/03/2012 09:19

aethel I have tried putting her down at 7 when DS goes to bed but it does mean we have to keep going up every 10 mins so we just give up and bring her down while we have dinner then I have a shower and do last feed and put her down then. Now she's 3 month maybe I should start being a bit stricter and see if after a few difficult evenings she wiLl get the hang of it. Maybe after the weekend though!

She actually went from 9.30 to 2.30 to 6.50 last night which is the best night we've ever had so hoping it continues!

Hope lmf is ok.

Was something else I wanted to say but can't remember now!

NorthernChinchilla · 09/03/2012 09:29

It's been a good night for wee men sleeping then aethel and hawthers, and I humbly ask to join your successful group!

I thought I'd give it a go, as mentioned yesterday, trying putting DS down early evening, and it worked! I thought he was ready, and DP put him down around half seven (which in itself was great, as it builds his confidence that he can do it); he squawked for a feed 8.45pm; and then I went to bed at 10.30 and fed him then and we fell asleep...

...however, as we'd not planned it, he was still wearing his daytime onesie and needed a nappy change at bedtime. Which we did, swiftly, upstairs. In the dark. With what turned out to be the wrong size nappy, and then some. So we woke at 4am in a wet bed (or wetter than normal, as it's always a bit damp through bf/leaking), dammit Sad! So sorting that out meant we were both awake, and only really dozed on and off since then...

Worried about LMF and octoboy now. It's so hard to know when people are just taking a break, or are away, or using the fb group, or if something's up.

Fabulous day ahead- second load of jabs at 11.30, packing up the house, and then travelling to Devon.

Special NC household Brew to you MsB!

Mmmmcheese · 09/03/2012 09:39

I remember now. hawthers I was getting a blocked duct in the same place all the time and a bfeeding counsellor said it could be something little like bra fitting badly, sleeping on one side more than the other, wearing a bra in bed, even the way you carry your bag. I wasn't convinced but having stopped all those things it hasn't come back yet so mighgt be worth a try.

Have a pot of double cream to use up so will be making truffles today!

aethelfleda · 09/03/2012 09:42

Good luck northern. i'll join those with a Brew as am sar on sofa with DS having a monster post-school-run feed. Need fortification for the upcoming housework!

I remember as a student getting hold of some high-caffeine coffee called "hot Lava Java", possibly whittards? Hmm, wonder if they still sell it, could be useful....

MissRee · 09/03/2012 10:05

Have a lovely weekend Northern!

Awww Freya woke this morning in a wonderful mood and full of smiles... and now I feel bad cos she's got her first lot of jabs today so the good mood won't last long Grin

AnAirOfHope · 09/03/2012 10:11

Arrrrrrrrrr Hope has larened to roll over on to her tummy and every time i put her down on mat to change nappy she is trying her best to roll over and its making it a nightmare to change and cream her up.

She is on the bed with me now and she is turning over then crying, i roll her back and then she trys again, some times making it some times not then crying!

We went to see the GP on Wednesday morning for her eczema and he did a full exsamation of her, looked her over head to toe and listened to her cheast and she is fine - she even give him a smile.

She has had lots of poos in the last week so it could be that from the antibiotics i have had. I will get her weighted next week and if its the same or less then i will take her to see GP.

Stupid question but could she have become latose intolarent (allergic to my breastmilk) and this is upsetting her tummy and not the antibiotics?

It has started to sink in the implcations of Hope's ezcema. She has had hives twice this week on her face. Both my sisters eldest son's have milk protine allagies and we all have asthma, ezecma and hayfever, dog allargies and i', allergic to melons, so its going to be tough weaning Hope and i'm gutted i can't take her swimming and it takes ages to cream her up day and night. Even tho she must be iching she still smiles all the time and is a good sleeper and is trying to sit up and turn over. She really is a good baby.

Kate i'm sorry your DD has ezcema and allargies, i will be asking you loads of questions in the comeing months i hope you dont mind Blush

EasilyBored · 09/03/2012 10:29

AHH! I did an epic catch up post on Wednesday morning while the squeaky man played on my bed, and the flippin internet ate it! I give up!

Got squeaker weighed yesterday; 13lbs 13 oz at 10 and half weeks, and 23 inches long. He's following the 50th centile line perfectly now. He's generally a pretty happy, content little thing, likes to be sat up or stood up on my lap and isn't a huge fan of being laid down. His sleeping has improved slightly - he's in his own cot now and we've started putting him to bed earlier; he's been sleeping from about 9 to 2, then has a feed, sleeps until about 5, has another feed (although it's only ever about 2 ounces, so I'm not sure he really needs it), then sleeps till about half 7. I've been giving him a dummy at night, which seems to have helped a lot too.

Air sorry about the eczma, but glad she doesn't seem to be that bothered by it!

Coolhand · 09/03/2012 13:05

Air the eczema sounds really tough but I'm glad she is still smiling.

Northern hope you have great weekend!

Luke's reflux had settled quite a bit but in the last week or so, he was bringing much more up again and has seemed in discomfort after more feeds than not. I took him to GP as he also had small patches of eczema on elbows and shoulders. GP changed our feed to Enfamil AR to help with reflux but I think it is making him worse! He has cried after every feed today and been bringing up milk continually. We were at mums and tots this morning and he spent the whole time squirming and bringing up last feed. He doesn't have a temp. My health visitor has now suggested possibility of milk protein allergy - think I'm going to do one more feed on the Enfamil and if things are no better, change back to the one we were on previously and make another appointment with GP! It's just so difficult to know what is really going on!

Glad to hear some people got more sleep last night - Luke is such a good sleeper at night, I keep forgetting how lucky I am that way.

NorthernChinchilla · 09/03/2012 13:46

So sorry you're having to deal with the reflux coming back coolhand (pardon the slight pun); it must be awful to see him so upset after feeding.

aethel Hot Lava Java, by Taylors, does indeed still exist, and is measured as a 6 on the 1-5 scale! My ex, who was Finnish and therefore ran on coffee, used to swear by it, and we get it sometimes too. My favourite is Taylors' Christmas Blend, which we stock up over the festive period.

I'd guess at the anti-bs air, it upset my LO's stomach, and I know at least one other person on here's had the same thing.

I cross-posted with you mmmm. I know one of the other techniques suggested was bringing bedtime forward by ten minutes (every few days-one week I think) so that may be worth a try? It sounds like your LO has her own bedtime, but it's late and therefore snaffles your evening! Our DS went from being happy just coming up with us at 10/10.30 to just being grumpy all evening, and needing to nap, so an early bedtime with a feed in the middle seemed to work.

I'm sure it'll all go to pot for us anyway, what with the double disruption of jabs and travelling today (and back on Sunday). DS cried less- and even smiled at the nurse!- but was still unhappy and bled all over his trousers. Popped him on the scales so I could get an up to date weight for the rellies (he'll be weighed officially next Weds) and he was 15,9 in nappy at 12.5 weeks.

Hope the jabs go OK for you too MissRee!

msbuggywinkle · 09/03/2012 13:59

I am trying to be more productive. Washing on the line, done some science experiments with the DDs and I am nursing a chicken with a prolapse. Honestly, don't consider chickens if you are squeamish! Also thinking about re-training.

easily brilliant weight gain! Miri dislikes lying down when awake too, she makes daft grumbly noises.

air lactose intolerance coming on suddenly is very unlikely. Weaning allergicky babies is a bit of a pain, (had to assume DD1 was after her vaccine reaction at 8weeks) but DD1 has totally outgrown her sensitivities now, light at the end of the tunnel perhaps?

Thank you NC a second pint of coffee and some Jaffa cakes did the trick eventually.

I'm planning to start a detox next week, just done the online shop for it and going to team it with lots of yoga. I always feel like doing healthy stuff in the spring!

Weekend plans? None here, which makes a lovely change, we are usually racing around!

seven77 · 09/03/2012 14:48

Yay, solar panels fitted. Very satisfying seeing the electricity meter going backwards! My parents get back from Turkey today so will probably see them tomorrow.

Sorry to hear about the reflux coolhand, hope it improves soon.

It must be so worrying weaning an allergic baby, I've been told to try re-introducing lactose between 6-12 months but I'm dreading it a bit. If she's true lactose intolerant does that make her more likely to be intolerant to other things?

hawthers · 09/03/2012 16:10

Nice day hanging out with gps. Ds' being adorable the pair of them.

Giving DS1 a delayed Christmas present of a bike tomorrow weather permitting, lunch with dh's uni pals on Sunday and friend from Kenya who is over for a business mtg staying on sun night so will be good to catch up with him. Also hoping for some sleep and peace and tranquility between all family members....

AnAirOfHope · 09/03/2012 17:39

seven77 - in my family we wait till 12+ months before introducing high allagy food such as dairy, strawberry, tomato, wheat, nuts, melon, water melon and kiwi.

I start with carrot, sweet potato, potato, then plain veg and then apple, pare and then banana then at 9+ chicken and mince. 12+ toast, sandwich, wraps and finger food and White fish.

YBR · 09/03/2012 17:52

Been to the Children's Hospital with BabyYBR for the pre-op assessment today. Started badly with the lift at the railway station out of order. Don't know what I'd have done on my own but fortunately I took LO and DH the pram. Timing worked out perfectly to be on the ward 5 mins before the appointment time. Then they kept us waiting ages ... 1 hour later we asked and they finally admitted how far behind they were. I'm actually really chuffed with how our LO coped with the long wait. It meant we needed to crack open the emergency feed at the station in the way back but as we couldn't warm it she wasn't very impressed.

The appointment was helpful and informative though and we've a better idea what to expect when LO goes in at the end of the month. Now to figure out how to force-feed EBM to her at 9am when she normally feeds at 7ish and 11ish, otherwise we'll have a very hungry girl!

KateM77 · 09/03/2012 19:27

Air Sorry, it's not me whose DD has excema and allergies, must have been someone else.

YBR pleased the appointment went well despite the wait. DD had a check-up with her surgeon today. Fortunately a 9.05am appointment so we didn't have to wait too long for a change! Surgeon was very happy with DD's bowels and will just see her again in Nov for another check-up, and after that they'll repair her umbilical hernia if it still hasn't mended itself by then.

OiMissus · 09/03/2012 20:51

Hi all, this thread moves fast! I've been away for a couple of days and we almost need a new one. Smile
I haven't got the patience to try and catch up with my iPhone, so I just hope you and your LOs are all happy and well. ybr glad the appt went well, despite the wait. air allergies and ezcema sound grim. I hope LO grows out of it somehow.
Ali is doing well. He's been at the gp's during the days I've been at the meetings (weds, thurs, fri) and they've all really enjoyed their time together, so that's been great. DH looked after him in the evenings when I joined them for dinner, and again, they've been fine.
I've been expressing and he's been accepting it by bottle quite easily. And he's been topped up with the formula cartons ...when I forgot to drop off the milk. Doh! But no harm done.
He's fed LOADS today, and I've kept on producing lots. my supply hasn't been affected, I don't think.
The meeting went well. Some good discussions, great team-building, and only a few stern words. Lots of hugs n kisses, more prezzies for Ali, and another expected-baby announcement - this time from my man in Bangalore! All good! Grin
