Your very first thought when you saw your baby?

Hi ladies (and some gentlemen)!

Having no children myself yet, I have always been curious about the first thought that comes through your mind when you first see your baby. And what better place to ask than MN!

So please, I would love to hear your thoughts... from the cheesiest ("He's the most beautiful angel in the world!") to the funniest ("Gee, it looks like a blob!" - Angelina Jolie with daughter Shiloh).

Thanks in advance!

No 1 - DS - just hoped he was alive
No 2 - DD - was actually terrified for myself more than DD (I was in shock)

"Hello you, how nice to meet you properly at last."
And then "isn't he lovely"
Honestly. Pukey, innit!

Do you know I honestly can't remember! It was an emerg CS and twins so maybe I was just in shock. I'm a bit perturbed that I can't remember actually.

ds2 (5 weeks premature) on being handed him to check out the sex for myself; 'oh it's a little girl!'

ProcessYellowC · 07/10/2009 22:26

I said,
"it's a baby"
"it's a baby"
thinking....no I'm meant to say what it is...rummage around...
"IT'S A WEEE WILLIE"

''Whose nose is that?''

I didn't recognise the nose from my side of the family.

dd1 - (emergency section) its a girl and she is very HUNGRY!!
dd1 - (natural birth) ahhh, i thought it wud be another girl and her ears sticks out at the top, we havent got stick out ears......(turns out it was my dp's mum who got the same ears and all her brothers too )

biglips · 07/10/2009 23:21

recorrection - dd2 (natural birth)

"I have got to get her out of that fish tank, stuff her up my jumper and get out of this place."

Thoughts sadly/luckily difficult to implement as:

  1. I had just had an emergency c section and would have been trailing catheter, pee bag and been clad in hospital gown. Also was still a lot wobbly from general anaesthetic and actually was taken in to nicu see her on my bed.
  2. she was very very ill and would probably have died if I had taken her away

dd1 its a baby! she looks like my sister hows that fair I did the work and she looks really pissed off ( to be fair I think I would look pissed off as well!)

dd2 she was put on my chest and she looked me straight in the eyes and I thought shes lovely but she looks like a raw sausage and she looks nothing like her sister (I think I had been imagining dd1 again)
