Hi,

I am expecing my first child in Feb 05 and as most of my friends dont have children really looking to get to know mums close to me for general chit chat & poss meet ups. My ethnic background is Indian although I was born in the UK and work in the city & am looking to go back to work after maternity leave.

Any one out there with a similar background?

Hi sai there is a tumble tot's where i started taking him, but he did'nt like it much it's in chigwell and there is also a playgroup down the road from me where im gonna start taking him.

It's not to bad at the moment as my younger brother live's round the corner to me and he has 3 girl's, my ds love's it round there and he get's to play with them nearly everyday.

Well don't work to hard, speak to you soon.

Sai · 25/10/2005 11:23

Hi Musa - which playgroup is that? I usually take ds to one in gants hill and one in Ilford. Would be good to take him to one closer. (don't know whether to be good and walk to supermarket in Barkingside or jump in my car...)

MUSA · 25/10/2005 11:45

Sai the playgroup i know is down fencepeice road near hainult station. Where do you live because there are a few in woodford to, don't know if you know repton park in chigwell, but there is a church near there they do it there to.

See i don't drive so i can't go far, but better late then never im starting my lesson's next week.

Those outlaws are round again!! yes, again! I'll just stay here until theyve gone. Why are inlaws so annoying?? def hats off to Sophie!
I live in Clayhall, Musa. You must live on the other side of Barkingside. Theres a new group just off Bkgside high st. I thought you might have meant that one. I might go there to check it out.

MUSA · 25/10/2005 21:34

Sai your making me laugh, about the outlaw's we all have being there. I live off tom's wood hill do you know where that it?, clayhall is round the corner from me.

ananyamum · 26/10/2005 11:08

hello hope everyone is well. we are also going to our very first parent and toddler group, hopefully today, if not then friday. looking forward to it. what a three month old will be able to do i dont know, except i guess interact a little with the other babies. and everything around me is so expensive! £15 registration! plus £5 everytime i go. hmmmm. i'll have to go tho once to see if dd likes it. and if she does then i guess it is a small price to pay. i dont drive either musa, it is annoying isnt it? i have a test in nov, i really have to get thru! hope everyone and their darlings are well. x

sophieR · 26/10/2005 21:39

Hi, my twins are nearly 13th months and i've only made it to one gymboree music class in this time and i was all over the place trying to pull one in one direction and chase the other in another direction , most of the local group times were at their sleep times BUT now after eid i will be taking them as ds loves being around other kids. they are lucky as do have lots of cousins.today ds has started emptying all toys out of toybox and throwing them all over the room ..its a new game for him and tiring for me:-) also trying to sort out a belated birthday party for them as original had to be canceled and i'm feeling a bit stressed about it as OH just said house is too small for 30 people but with the twins its easier to have it at home rather than out !! and only 2 weeks away .......Aghhhh just had a call from work asking me on the off chance whether i remembered something about a problem we had over a year ago ..boy did i laugh i had to tell them that my brain cells are all a mush ..

ameli · 27/10/2005 00:55

sophieR · 27/10/2005 14:01

hi lovely day isnt it today cant believe its end october i remember going to school in sept and being forced to wear a hat with long bobbles at the ends as it was so cold.Twins are on and off with sleeping through the night ds started sleeping through at 12 weeks abt 9pm to 7am then that all went to pot when teething started , dd had reflux and eczema ( which is now better) that combined with teething meant she didnt sleep through until recently , they do not eat much so they often wake up for a feed, they've had minimum weight gains from the start. just trying to sort out their eid clothes dh bought them some outfits from pakistan, although a bit dodgy as very bright.

Sai · 27/10/2005 20:32

Hi guys! Yes, it is a lovely day today. I hope it lasts! Whats everyone up to for the weekend? I'm off to visit my mum as she is going off to Pakistan on Mon. I can't wait to go. Its just so lovely and restful whenever I go home and I get mums yummy food. Although I'm very sad that she won't be around for the next 10 weeks.
Bet your twins are going to look mega cute in their Eid clothes, Sophie. I haven't got any for bubs yet - it hardly seems worth the effort when its just us two all day!
I forgot to ask you Ameli, whether you'd got any for your little one? AND silly me, I had a little Eid present for your babe and I forgot to give it to you!

ameli · 27/10/2005 22:07

ananyamum · 28/10/2005 10:12

hey, i was thinking the exact same thing, abt it being so lovely at the of oct. i had to get my sandals out again yesterday, that made me happy today ofcourse is another story..... and to top it all we have just come from the doctors, abt dd's eczema (is it the weather or pollution or what? why is it such a big problem nowadays??). it is not really getting better. and now it has spread to her little face. i am really quite upset abt it. i really dont want to use steroid cream. and dh has a friend who is a consultant dermatologist but he says we cant go to him yet cause he doesnt take any dosh and dh is embarrassed. fair enough but if this doesnt improve in the next few weeks i dont know what i'll do. sophieR, so glad your dd's eczema is better. they say that dont they, that baby eczema gets better and (hopefully) goes away as they grow older. anyway you are all going away for the weekend, how nice, ameli, are you going to see your mum too? we are not doing much this weekend. a friend's b'day tomorrow, so we will be taking dd to a restaurant, that will be interesting....! and then outlaws will be here on sunday. grt. have a lovely weekend everyone. ameli, good idea about jay. if she has time, sai get her to come on line!

ananyamum · 01/11/2005 08:46

hello? where is everyone? i hope everyone is ok.

Sai · 01/11/2005 08:51

Hi Ananyamum! I've been away at my mums and got back last night. Had a lovely time and now she's gone to Pakistan for 10 weeks
Did the outlaws come round?! I was half expecting a 'Very Important Phone Call' from you when you got fed up!
How are things?

Sai · 01/11/2005 08:54

Oh, hows your little girl's eczema? Hope its clearing up. poor thing. It didn't look at all bad when I saw her last week. I think you should go to your hubby's friend - after all, if you would do the same for him, I'm sure he wouldn't mind at all!

ananyamum · 01/11/2005 09:06

hey sai they didnt come. it has been so peaceful and you're missing your mum ? i'm sorry. i know what it is like. i am so looking forward to going to kuwait and being able to see my parents everyday will be quite nice! they still make you feel like a baby yourself dont they? i guess to them you always will be. dd's eczema is bad but luckily stable. her face flared up last week but that is better now too, and cradle cap is improving, and generally she is a happy baby so really i have a lot to be thankful for. you're right i am going to wait another 2 weeks and if it is not better then i will ses dh's friend. cause after that i will be in kuwait and i dont want to be stuck there with a sick baby. we'll see. good to have you back btw! how's ds?

Sai · 01/11/2005 09:14

Ds is doing fine. He got really spoilt at my mums too. My 3 bros and sis entertained hime all day long and I was free to go out and shop! Yay! I bought a couple of winter items 1 size too small as an incentive to lose some more weight by Dec!
Aaah, you're so looking forward to seeing your family, aren't you? Will your sis be there too?

ananyamum · 01/11/2005 09:25

yes, yey. she will be coming to kuwait end dec. she is in delhi now, and my parents are going to see her before going to cal (calcutta, where we are from), so i am slightly worried. i will be so glad when we are all in kuwait together i cant think of one safe place in this world anymore, it is crazy isnt it?

Sai · 01/11/2005 09:32

I know what you mean about it not being safe etc but I always say that there's no point in worrying as you may as well worry everytime you cross the road, get into a car, hear about cancer scares etc the list is endless. So fret not and I'm sure all will be well.

Sai · 01/11/2005 09:34

Thats my advice for the day

ananyamum · 01/11/2005 10:18

i know! i just cant help it when it comes to them, with myself it is ok, i dont worry. btw so so happy last night when i found your chocolates in my handbag (had forgotten all abt them) and then i ate them all one by one. grrrrrrrr, i blame you entirely!! lol

ameli · 01/11/2005 14:07

hey , you all.

yes sai is right, chinese proverb say:

sai give good advice,always.

lol,

hope you are all ok, eid mubarak 2 all u guys, hope all your bubs are well. Sai my hubby found the choccys you smuggled into my handbag, he was most grateful, ...i didnt get any!love 2 all you guys and hey to jay if you see her.x

Sai · 01/11/2005 14:14

I know what you mean. I'm actually a terrible worrier myself and always end up using that argument to convince myself that I'm being silly. I think its because when my dad was ill etc, I was just always waiting for bad news and just worried constantly. I'm better about things now.
You're good about those chocolates. I ate most of the box that evening! Its only because I've been at my mums that I even have ice cream left.
Honestly, I ate so much over the weekend and I really do mean that. It was my bros bday and as its Ramamdan still, my mum made pakoras, samosas, fried chicken, we had cakes and deserts etc every day. I think I've put loads of weight on. Oh well, its back to the diet and walking.I think I'll walk to the supermarket when ds wakes up so I can stock up on fruit and veg...

Sai · 01/11/2005 14:16

Hey, Hi Ameli. Eids not tomorrow is it? I guess we won't find out until tonight. Are you off to the outlaws then? Glad your dh enjoyed the chocs.
Any news on the house hunting?
