Hi,

I am expecing my first child in Feb 05 and as most of my friends dont have children really looking to get to know mums close to me for general chit chat & poss meet ups. My ethnic background is Indian although I was born in the UK and work in the city & am looking to go back to work after maternity leave.

Any one out there with a similar background?

how are you , happy new year, if i dont get chance to post aagian. we not doing anythging really. Just staying at home with the dh and dd, in fact i dont really want to do anything. It will be nice to spend it with dh. had a good time,dh was off work as well which was good. he's discovered his camcorder and made dvd's of dd at xmas and new year for both families.i'm sure he got emotional at one scene where dd was 'talking' to me.
Ameli - I'm frm glasgow. When i first moved down here, i was a bit of a novelty at work cos i was this pakistani girl with a really strong scottish accent. i had to talk really slow for about 2 months so they could understand what i was saying!
I'm going back to work in april so it'll be nice to get feedback frm u guys on how you get on. DD is going to daycare 5 days a week and i still haven't got her into a routine.
any tips on how i can get her to sleep at 8pm instead of 1 o'clock in the morning?

hello everyone! happy new year! LM, i have no idea! i think they just develop a pattern by themselves. we tried in the uk to put dd to sleep at 7/8pm and she used to fight us all the time, and finally sleep nearer 11. bath/story/feed etc just didnt work with us at all!! not that she is growing she has a big feed at abt 10 and she is pretty much asleep by 10.30. and i dont try to fight it. i wld love it if she went to sleep at 7 but i dont think that is going to happen to us!but LM i am hoping that going to the nursery itself will instill some routine! btw we found a formula in kuwait that she likes and tolerates!! i am so happy! but anyone else found it emotional coming up to finishing off breast feeding? this little baby dependent on just me for food for 5 months is now having formula milk and fruits and vegetables. ameli are you back at work? hope everyone is good. x

good to hear frm you. Im at the in laws at mo cos my husbands grandad passed away, we had to leave straight away. it was my first day back at wrk, so i ended up leaving at 11 .30 in the morning on first day back! My boss was cool about it though . goin back to london tonight. Good to hear frm you ananyamum. lil miracle , you could try waking bubs up earliar like around 8pm.then feed her at 11.30 ish put her bakc to sleep at around 12.oo, make morning her active time, take her out in pram or whatever. Then keep her awake until beditime again she will prob sleep for around two hours in afternoon. inshallah) then feed her around 6 pm and bath at 7 bed by 8? it will prob only wrk when shes on solids though, and every baby is different. This is the routine i adapted from nursery activity plan.hope its of some use. well, take care and chat soon.

Eid Mubarak everyone. Hope you are having a nice time. i'm with in-laws until weekend then finally go to my mums for 2 weeks - yippee!!
Dd is being am amazingly well behaved i thought she would be all clingy because of seeing new faces but she's really enjoying herself.
Any routine i had established is out the window while we are on holiday. Well at least she's taking the breast more than the bottle. Ameli, don't envy you having to study. I don't miss the studying part at all.
Better get back to family

Hope you're having a lovely break, LM. Its lovely getting spoiled by mum. My mum, sil and niece get back from Pakistan on Wed! They've been gone since Oct 31 so I've missed them loads. The annoying thing is that the pils get back from Hajj on Thurs which means I can only see my family on Wed eve and then have to come back to see the outlaws. Peeved off about that.
How are you AM? Can't remember if you're back here yet or not?
I've got my meeting at work on tues to discuss going back part-time. Wish me luck girls!

Back at work and taking advantage of the free internet , feels good to be back! lil miracle thats cool about your bubs bein so chilled and relaxed, sometimes they really surprise us dont they? Ananyamum are you back in the uk, bet you are all sunkissed and bronzed, cant wait to c you guys. Im just chilling really. Exams are over and i think i did ok, without sounding big headed.lol. Aaah, its always a happy/sad time when you get back from seeing your family, isn't it? Obviously you're sad to leave the family but happy to get back to your hubby and 'normal' life. I'm sure you'll see them soon.
I am v.happy to have my mum, sil and niece back. Little one loves his cousin. Its so sweet, he's been following her around and trying to play with whatever she's got.

Sai hope your well, thinkin of joining gym in your area, really wanna do some jogging or get back into fitness routine. Its not so much losing weight but being physically fit. Is is safe to jog in clayhall, i mean obviously am terrified of jogging alone in leytonstone, i mean its like the ghetto!

hope u all ok. Im up im north at the mo and wasnt able to make it to ria's party, i trust u guys and bubbas enjoyed it. Its snowing heavily up here and it looks so beautiful like something outta a post card. We discovered that bubs is actually scared of the snow, which is funny, i mean we tried to take some pictures in mil garden but he was terrified,lol. Well back to the 'sunny climes' of london 2morrow. Hopefully catch up with you guys soon ,take carexxx

thanx for your message, im sorry u couldnt make it, i hope bubs is better? we had a nice evening and we had lasagne, roast veg, grilled chicken salad, oh and spring rolls for starters, followed by cheescake profiter rolls and choccie mints. We ate your share too! dont worry that u couldnt make it, bubs health is more important. when she is better ill do another dinner and hopefully we'll see you there. i have exams at the mo and am comp exahusted from studyin and bein mum. oh well last ones on 26th may, then, im chillin.
