My ethnic background is Indian although I was born in the UK and work in the city & am looking to go back to work after maternity leave.

sorry annie,

didnt read your message properly cos dd tugging on my dress. thursday is fine!

ananyamum · 28/09/2005 15:25

hey, just called odeon and apparently they have pride and prejudice on again, which dd and i watched last week, so will probably give it a miss but you guys should go if you haven't seen it yet. let me know if you are around and maybe we could meet up for a coffee? anything's good. take care

Sai · 28/09/2005 17:16

Hi Guys. I found out about the cinema show last week and was gutted that I couldn't see Pride and Prejudice then so am soooo happy that they are showing it again! It will be the first time I have been to the cinema in aaaaages! I hope bubs is ok there. How was your little one?
I'll meet you there Ameli, if you like? Maybe we can meet Ananyamum too.
I'm still not sure about work - dh's mum went back to work when he was young and he says he remembers how much he hated going to the childminder and used to refuse to get dressed in the mornings etc. He's still not very close to his parents even now even though he sees them or talks to them practically every day. He says he doesn't want that for our little one and would rather I didn't go back to work til he is a bit older. I really like my job so I'm scared to give it up in case my next one isn't going to be that good! oh well, still have until April to decide.

Let me know about cinema....

hi guys

what films are showing next thursday, could you let me know about times etc.thanx ameli

ananyamum · 29/09/2005 12:16

sorry guys just saw yr msg now. lets plan for next thursday huh? i will call odeon closer to the time and let you know what is on. dd was ok, she fell asleep in the beginning b'cos it is lovely and dark and even when she cried it was fine cos there was always other babies crying and i didn't feel too bad.
i think it is good for babies to be in nurseries with other babies. it makes them more sociable and more confident as adults. ofcourse you have to do what feels best for you. if you want to go back to work then you should. i don't think children can be less close to their mums b'cos they go back to work when they are young. don't think you are putting your baby at a disadvantage (atleast that is what i am telling myself!!) but ofcourse if you want to stay at home then you should, neither is the worse option, you just have to do what feels good to you.

ameli · 29/09/2005 12:53

Sai · 29/09/2005 18:08

Hello!
I went to the cinema and loved it! loved the film (although Darcy could have been played better) and Bubs was so well behaved. Would definitely like to go again - as long as there is a good film on, of course! Actually I think next weeks film is Bewitched and they're always on at 10.30am.
Have fun in Derby, Amelie, I hope your mum and ds are better.

ananyamum · 29/09/2005 18:23

hey i am so glad you and your ds enjoyed the movie! i have wanted to watch bewitched. maybe we shld all plan to go together next week?

Sai · 30/09/2005 17:27

I don't know what the reviews are like but I'll come and see it if its meant to be good. Otherwise I don't mind meeting up anyway or seeing the next film....

ameli · 30/09/2005 23:49

hello again,

hope youe are both ok, its been hectic over here at mums and esp as mum insists on trying to do the cookin etc even though she ill, mums eh? they jus wanna feed the five thousend! took me ages to convince my bro to let me use his comp, lol. anayways im missin london am returnin on sunday. Bewitched sounds good, i hope my lil one will settle , he a bit hyper, but i will get him up early, tire him out, so ,inshallah he sleeps. i havnt been to odeon in s.woodford yet. sai and ananayamum how old are you guys, even though it doesnt matter, was just curious.i am 27 by the way but im warning you i look like im 14, which really bugs me ! would it be wise to post pics on here? i think not , i mean wat if you two are really blokes???lol

Sai · 01/10/2005 10:26

Well, you'll never know, Amelie, we could indeed be blokes. Just as you could be too (Sad bunch of blokes we'd be going on about routines and getting excited about Mr Darcy! )
I just looked at some reviews for Bewitched and, generally, people seem to think the film is rubbish. I know everyones tastes are different. Its just that the last film I watched with Nicole Kidman in was The Stepford Wives and I was so disappointed with that. It really was pants. I'll still come and watch it to meet up with you guys, but you have been warned....!

If you're worried about your boy settling at the cinema just bring a toy for him. There were a couple of mums who sat they're babies on a mat on the floor next to them with some toys and they happily played.

I am 33. You know for us Asians, thats quite late to have a 1st baby! Honestly, you should have heard all the comments and questions from all the Aunti-jis. They start as soon as you get married, don't they?? (I've been married for 6 yrs) And then, when you have one its 'whens the next one?'!

Anyway, enjoy your stay. Nothing quite like mums food though, is there?!

ameli · 01/10/2005 15:35

hello again,

yes you are quite right to sai, blokes dont have a clue about mr darcy and routines, so we are all quite safe, lol.i havnt seen p and p or the other film, to be honest i dont mind what we do, we could all meet up for a coffee, and plan for film next week? what do you guys want to do?

ameli · 01/10/2005 15:35

ananyamum · 02/10/2005 13:03

hey. i am 28 and pretty much look my age! i will be pushing a huge red pushchair (from my parents in law, aargh). if you guys don't want to do the film, we could catch coffee instead or maybe afterwards? whatever is good. hope your mum is better ameli. how old is your little brother?

Sai · 02/10/2005 15:27

Hi. I don't mind - whatever you guys want to do. Do you know somewhere where we can all take our babies and have a coffee Ananyamum?
I'll look out for your huge red pushchair!

ameli · 03/10/2005 11:10

hi guys back in london,

my lil bro is not so lil he is actually 21, still a lil baby to me. he at u i doing forensic science. ok , lets plan for next week . i thiink a coffee sounds great, could you guys give me a time, 11.30 is is ok for me what about you two? please give me a place to meet you two in s.woodford so we can go from there, or whatever you guys decide. okay?Mum is on the mend, i had to restarain her from going to the shops on her crutches!!she just won't rest.lol

ananyamum · 03/10/2005 15:37

i actually wouldn't mind watching bewitched! would it be ok to meet you guys after? it ends around 1 i'm guessing, or is that too late? there is a little cafe in s woodford where we cld sit and chat, or if it is easier for you to come to wanstead there are lots of great cafes there and a lovely park too. but ofcourse we cld do that another day, no need to cram everything into one day! i know what you mean, my sister is 24 and i almost choked the other day telling someone how old she was, cos there i was thinking she was still 10 . hey, looking frwd to seeing you guys!

ananyamum · 03/10/2005 15:39

btw Sai, trying this EASY thing and it is kind of working don't know how that happened! i don't know if she is still too young for routines but she seems to have done this herself. ofcourse bed time is still a shambles, with us falling alsep before her!

Sai · 03/10/2005 17:19

Hi there! I think I'll wait for a good film to come on before I go to the cinema again, actually. I'm sure they'll have one soon.
I don't mind meeting you at 1 on thurs. I'm not far so it would only take me 10mins to get to you.
Glad that EASY is working for you. My baby just fell into that routine too. It was great.
Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed by the feelings you have for your little one? I feel so soppy right now! Love him to bits!

Sai · 03/10/2005 17:37

PS. if you guys are up for an evening out without your baby - just be for an hour or two - I'm meeting some mums for pizza on fri night lcally, come along!

ameli · 03/10/2005 18:43

hi guys ,

1pm in s.woodford sounds good. could you let me know where to meet you guys, street, name of cafe etc. ill do the movie with you next week ananayamum, am still realing from all the travelling. hope you are both well and sai i know what you mean about the overwhelming feelings , sometimes i look at my little one and feel so blessed. Its natural, thats whats makes us mothers, how old is your little one sai?

ameli · 03/10/2005 18:47

oh yeah,
just got confirmation that ramadan strts 2mrw, will you guys be fasting, if so where does this leave us with the whole coffe plan lol, im not fasting cos im still feeding my lil one, if you guys are fasting then without wanting to sound like a hypocrite , what about cinema instead? {grin]

Sai · 04/10/2005 08:41

Hi. I'm still bfing so am not fasting (even though some people are frowning on me saying I still should??!!)
My lil boy is nearly 6 mnths and lots of fun! he has a bit of a cold at the moment and has been a bit needy. He's ended up in our bed at about 4.30 in the mornings as he was getting upset. Hope I'm not getting him into bad habits......!

ameli · 04/10/2005 11:35

hi sai,

you know, i have found that some people just cant understand this breastfeeding thing. Its up to you and thats that. your little one sounds like he may be teething? my lil boy use to be like that, they say the cold and the teething is connected maybe its because their immune system is not so strong at the moment. Well im looking forward to seeing both of your kiddies , i know that my little boy loves interacting with other kids . dont worry about the night feeding, mine went dwn at 10 pm and woke up three times last night! have we decided on a meeting place??

ananyamum · 04/10/2005 19:26

not fasting as hindu! (but i grew up in kuwait so we used to love this time of year: classes finished early, my father used to come home at 2, shopping centres open until midnight the atmosphere was great!) ameli if you still want to do film then shall we meet outside the theatre at around 10.25? and then we could meet sai afterward? i was thinking about seeing your kids too none of my friends have babies yet so i am really looking frwd to it.
