How many people on here have been assaulted/raped and have either reported or not reported it?

I found out that the conviction rate rapes was just 6% . 6% of reported rapes. There are many many many more that go unreported. I want to know roughly what kind of figure we are looking at. Please change your name if need be, but do post.....

I'll start..

Me - unreported.

Just adding my name to the roll call of the unreported.

I though this is a timely article.

Me- date rape, age 17, unreported. We were kissing and touching, but I was a virgin and didn't want to go all the way...

age 19- repeatedly vaginally and once or twice anally, within a relationship. Also unreported because he was my boyfriend and therefore it couldn't be rape.

I know better now, if anyone tried it on me these days he'd find himself choking on his own bollocks.

squilly · 05/11/2008 19:58

Not raped, and hope I never will be, but I was sexually assaulted as a child (around 5-6).

Never reported. Just lived with it. Done by a teenager next door on a regular basis...I was friends with his sister, who I suspect didn't escape his attentions. Neither did my neighbour, same age as me.

Wonder if that's why I waited til I was 21 to have a full sexual relationship with anyone?

To all those who've suffered in silence, I feel for you. It's a dreadful state of affairs. It makes me worry for my dd. I hope that things change and she doesn't suffer as you have.

me. Raped age 17 by a guy i was kind-of-dating. I went home and told my dad - we went to police and 7 months later he was sentenced to 2 years in prison. Got out after 8 months!!

We lived on the same estate, and he would pass by me and taunt me. So my dad put him in hospital. guy never spoke to me again.

I'm Spartacus!
Raped once as a teenager - unreported. Felt I deserved it so didn't fight back.
Assaulted on a number of occasions as a child, thankfully not 'seriously.'
Groomed by my step-father, but thanks to a very caring family who took me in whenever I could escape from home, it never went any further.
Far too many of my female (and a few male) friends have similar stories, most far worse than mine. Makes me so and

Margehasbluehair just wanted to say well done for getting out of there - are you OK and well away now?

Was raped by ex when he found out I'd cheated on him. He beat me up badly and then raped me - kind of to make me "his" again it seemed at the time. I was young and full of guilt for having betrayed him, it wouldn't have even crossed my mind to report him.

Nearly maybe. When I was 16 I had a job at a little shop that served ice cream. My boss and his wife used to let me run the place and work alone at night if they wanted to go out. Not a very good idea in retrospect.

A very weird drunk guy came stumbling in and kept trying to get behind the counter, leering at me and saying "you know what you want". We were the only people in the store. He jumped over the back counter. I was just about to turn and run for the back door when he grabbed my hair and smacked my head on the counter. Then two young guys walked in (regular customers and friends of my boss). They had been on their way in and saw the situation.

They took one look at the guy and at me said "are you giving that little girl trouble". Then they beat the shit out of him. The drunkard got in his car and drove off so we got his plate number and called the cops.

He tried to report the two lads for assaulting him and the cops just laughed at him and they smacked him around too. This was in the States, in a small town where my stepdad was chief of police.

Abused by a family member for a few years - he was not that much older than I am though, so I was never really sure if it was sexual abuse...

Flashed when I was 6 - the man wanted me to touch him, but luckily I ran off. I was wandering around while my sister had a music lesson -this was in the basement of a deserted shopping centre. It was a sunday, and my mum would let me go with my sister (who was only 10). I would wander around and this guy must have followed me.

Groped by my sisters husband when I was 12. I told my sister about it a few months later. She believed me, but didn't leave him until he cheated on her.

Boss (male) masturbated while I watched TV (I was the nanny) Sick F*

Another man was masturbating while he asked for directions. This was the only 1 I reported.
